I haven’t added these in as it got confusing. These entries are in what they refer to as Schedule Two. As in 1881, there are many more Putmans than Putnams.

His grandfather, Henry or Heinrich Putman was a Loyalist and came to Canada after the American Revolution. He settled in Bertie, Welland County. He married Hannah Anguish who was Canadian by birth. He is 55 USA and will still be here in 1881. He is presently still married to Elizabeth Barnes, but she will die in the next few years and he will be marry Elizabeth Jane Edison February 18, 1857. They will be here in 1881. He is a lumberman. He is a son of John Putman and Sarah Martin. His folks are from New Jersey, and came back to Barrington, Yates County and then Wayne, Steuben County, New York about 1812. This is a Dutch family that started out in the Albany area of New York back in 1659. Mulford was born in Wayne in 1815. He moved with his folks to Delhi, Norfolk, Ontario in about 1838. Charles will be in St. Thomas, Elgin East with his wife Rachel and more kids in 1881, and then in Chicago from the 1890s till he dies. He is a son of Henry Putman and Anne Hawn from Dorchester. He is 60 ONT (GER), his wife Pamelia 32 US, Richard 15 US, William 13 US, Eli 11 US, John 3 US and Joseph 1 US. By seeing the age difference and the gap between Eli and John I would guess that Pamelia was married before she met Henry down here in the USA. Can’t find them in 1870 in the US. There is an Ontario death record that his three youngest sons (including Charles who will be born in 1872) died in a fire September 30, 1872.
He is listed as Laloman, but he is Solomon Putnam 48 ONT. His wife is Emily Pearson, about 47 now. They were in Wolford, Grenville in 1851, and are in Mt. Forest, Wellington North in 1881. Solomon is a son of Robert Putnam and Olive Tuttle, grandson of Ephron Putnam and Miriam Doty. He was born in Wolford, Grenville, Ontario on December 11, 1822, and will die February 1, 1883. He is 34 ONT (ENG) a merchant, his wife Catherine 23 ONT. He was born in South Crosby, Leeds on April 7, 1837. Not sure who Catherine is, probably a misprint for Julia. He did marry Julia Ann Stewart in Leeds on November 15, 1863, and he will marry Charlotte Rebecca Booth here July 9, 1873. He and Julia were in Chicago Illinois in 1870. They are in Blenheim Kent in 1881 through 1901. He is a son of Asaph Putnam and Nancy Stokes. He is 43 ONT (ENG) a teamster, his wife Lodemia Putnam is 43 ONT, Olive 20 ONT, Lydia 17 ONT, Sarah Ann 15 ONT, Daniel 13 ONT and Edgar 11 ONT. They will be in Blenheim, Kent in 1881. Lodema is a Putnam herself, a daughter of Asaph Putnam and Nancy Stokes. Problem is no one is certain how Ephron fits into this whole picture. He and Lodemia were just married in Renfrew County in 1851. I don’t find them in 1861 yet, but they are here in 1881 and he is widowed in 1891.
He is 16 US and a servant. He actually has died in the past year.
He is 50 ONT. He is a son of Parks Putnam (1482g) and Elizabeth Lehey. He was born February 26, 1821 in Wolford, Grenville, Ontario. He married Jane Meredith in Hamilton, Ontario July 2, 1852. He will die here February 26, 1873. They were in Chicago in the late 1850s. The census for Chicago in 1860 was lost, but they would be there. They then went to Iowa in the early 1860s and I think that is where Jane died, and they then returned here. I don’t know where Jane is now, but she is in Montreal with their son Maurice in 1881. Elizabeth is 12 ONT (IRE), Clarence 14 ONT (IRE), and Sheridan 9 ONT (IRE), all live with their mother Sarah Ann Parks 40 ONT and their stepfather William Parks 34 ONT. Sarah Ann Blanchard is the widow of William Putnam. They were in Wolford, Grenville County in 1861. They were married there in 1852. William Brown Putnam (3094) was a son of Parks Putnam (1482G) and Elizabeth Leahy. He was born in Wolford January 12, 1810, and died there December 29, 1865. He was indexed Putenam like everyone else here in Leeds & Granville. He is William Brandago Putnam a son of John W. Putnam and Elizabeth Brown. He and his wife Martha were in Oakland County Michigan in the 1870 Census and must have just got back here.

He is a son of Asaph Putnam (1482i) and Nancy Stokes. Asaph was a son of Benajah Putnam (608a) and Elizabeth Livermore of Dummerston, Vermont. Asaph and his brothers Joel and Parks took their families to Canada in the later 1780s. Actually the full Name is Renaldo DeMelville Evits Putnam, and he was born in Wolford, May 1, 1820. He is a son of Asaph Putnam (1482i) and Nancy Stokes. In a couple of months he will venture into Leelanau County, Michigan and will remain there till he dies May 6, 1906. He married Mary Ann here January 9, 1848. She was born December 6, 1826 and will die in Northport, Leelanau County, Michigan November 19, 1896. He is 57 ONT, Lovilla Church his wife 57 ONT, Harmon 21 ONT, Amelia 17 ONT and Joel 6 ONT. He is Joel Stokes Putnam, Senior, a son of Asaph Putnam and Nancy Stokes. He was born in Wolford, Grenville on April 24, 1814. He married Lovilla Church in Wolford August 18, 1835. In the next few years they will head into Michigan and be in Rose Lake, Osceola County in the 1880 census. He will remain there till he dies on August 7, 1891. Lovilla will die there June 4, 1898. He is Joel Stokes Junior. He is 23 ONT, his wife Sarah E. Stuart is 17 ONT. In both cases they are listed as being born in Upper Canada. He is a son of Joel and Lovilla, and was born in Wolford May 22, 1846. He just married Sarah on March 8, 1871. They will go to Michigan with his folks and settle in Osceola County, Michigan. He will die there April 4, 1919 and Sarah died there sometime after the 1920 census when she was widowed in Evart, Osceola County. The line here is the same, obviously, as his dad’s.
He is 52 US (GER), and he lives with a family headed by Rose Ann Dunhill 44 ONT. He is a son of Ebenezer George Putman and Rebecca Frey from Montgomery County, New York. In 1850 he was with his widowed mother in Jefferson County, New York. She died in the early 1850s and the rest of the family returned to Glen, Montgomery County and Daniel came up here. Rose Ann shown here is Rosanna Dennee. Both she and Daniel are widowed and will marry March 8, 1872. The marriage certificate confirms the names of his parents. He will die in Sophiasburgh, Lennox County in 1898. This is a Dutch family and goes back Daniel > Ebenezer G. > John L. > Lodowyck (Lewis) > Arent J. > Johannes or Jan Putman of Albany.
He is 22 USA (ENG), Charlotte Bowman 26 ONT. He state on his marriage certificate that he is a son of George Putman, but I can’t find him in New York or here in 1850. He married Charlotte here in Clinton on November 9, 1869. He and Charlotte will be in Gainsborough, Monck in 1881 with some kids. The line would be Dutch.

He is 60 ONT. His wife Mary Ann Vaughn is 56 ONT, Richard 22, Henry 28 his wife Manda is 30, and they have Wellington 3. Mary Ann will die next year on October 29, 1872. He’ll be here widowed in 1881. He is a son of David Putman and Dorothy Hainer, Dutch family from New York. David came up to Canada in the early 1800s and married Dorothy in 1807.

They were in Caistor in 1861, and the whole family is here in 1881. He is a son of Albert Putman and Mary Ann Vaughn, and grandson of David Putman and Dorothy Hainer from here. He is 21 ONT. Stray. He is a son of Francis and Harriet Putman. He will soon marry Laura Culp, a daughter of John and Mary Culp, in Welland County, Ontario on December 1, 1874. According to a relative and a death certificate, he will die January 24, 1897 in Lambton at age 44 of paralysis.

Henry is 26 ONT, and will be here in 1881. His wife Phoebe Bennett is 23, Jessie a daughter 5/12. He is a son of Adam and Delila Groft Putman. He was home with them here in 1861. He married Phoebe on September 26, 1869. She was a daughter of Charles and Sarah Bennett.
He is 32 ONT. He will be in Grimsby, Lincoln County in 1881. Based on that census his wife Mary Graybiel would be about 34, John 4, Mary 3 and Marvin 1. He is a son of Albert Putman and Mary Vaughn from Wainfleet.
He is 23 ONT, and will be here married in 1881. He is a son of Francis Putman and Mary Jane Morrow from here. He will marry Mary Martha Cosby in Welland County October 16, 1873.

Mary will die September 17, 1879, and he will marry Mary Buey or Bowie May 24, 1880 and they will be here in 1881. Jacob (Senior) is a son of Henry Putman and Hannah Anguish of Bertie. He was born there. His father came up here after the Revolution and married Hannah here. Jacob will die here in the next few years, but his sons Andrew, Henry and Jacob will be here in 1881. All three brothers married Buey sisters.
