FLORIDA
CENSUS REPORTS
1820 - 1930
UPDATED SEPTEMBER 27, 2009
Don't expect a lot here, there just weren't a lot that came this far south. After the Civil War, by 1870, many of the Putnams and Putmans listed in Florida were black families. Florida became part of America in the 1810-1820 time period and most of the early settlers came from Georgia. It became a territory in 1822 and became a state in 1845 after the Seminole Wars were concluded.
