Luningburg, Massachusetts, Langdon, New Hampshire, and afterwards removed to
Covington, Pennsylvania, with his family.
Famer. In 1796, Captain Elijah Putnam
was licensed to keep tavern in Langdon.
He was often chosen to town offices in Langdon, and town meetings was
held at his house from 1796 to 1805. He
is always mentioned as "Captain."
(There was an Elijah Putnam on the Massachusetts Revolutionary
Rolls). One of a committee to build a
meeting house in 1800.

There was an Ebenezer
Putnam enrolled in Captain Samuel Wetherbee's company from Charlestown, New
Hampshire, at Fort Independance, November, 1776. This company had marched to join the northern army. Perhaps the same Ebenezer who served one
month in Captain William Carey's company from 21 September, 1777. Captain Carey was of Lempster, and his
company marched to reeeforce Gates.

Ebenezer Putnam. "Charlestown,
January, 23d, 1778, does tesify and say that some time in July, 1776, Captain
Weatherbee askd me what I would give him to Discharge me : I told him Nothing
where uppon he told mee he would discharge me for Twenty Dollars or five week's
work. I told him I would give it, then
he turned about and went and got a man to go in my Rhoom and I set off to go
home, but before I got home I got sick of my Bargain and went and told him I
would go myself and pay him for his trouble for gitting the man . . . after I
was Inlisted I ast the Capt. if he was willing that I should take the Small
Pox, he said No by No means, for perhaps we may be calld for before you will be
Ready to march, Then I was advisd by Capt. Geer and Mr. Olcott to ask Col.
Hunts advise about the matter where upon he said he would advise any man that
was a going to Enocolate as he thought it was not safe to go without."

Notes for SETH PUTNAM:
Seth Putnam was a
farmer in Charlestown, New Hampshire.
In June, 1776, he was a member of Captain Samuel Wetherbee's company in
the regiment raised for Canadian campaign.
In June, 1777, he
marched in Bellow's regiment to reenforce Ticonderoga. In September, 1777, this same regiment
marched to reenforce Gates. In Captain
Carey's company were Ebenezer and Seth Putnam.
(There was another Seth Putnam in Captain Flood's company from Alstead.
Seth Putnam died aged
93 years, 7 months. At the age of 90 he
mowed with a scythe. He was a quite,
dignified man and ardent freemason, being a member of Aurora Lodge,
Monpelier. He was a Whig. The first settler in Middlesex was Thomas
Meed, Meed did not have his family with him till the winter of 1786-7. Seth Putnam and Lovell Warren wintered in
Middlesex the preceeding year, and Putnam had his family with him.
A Seth Putnam was
published at Charlestown, New Hampshire, to Jane Kai Hall, 15 February, 1807.
His second wife was
Kate West, not Westcot as beleived.
