This is
the latest census available till 2012. I have found a site http://obits.eons.com/local
that gives birth and death dates sorted by death dates beginning in the
1950s. Another site http://www.findagrave.com
gives dates and in many cases a photo of the gravestone. I’ve just kinda stuck the info in where I could, so that’s where
those little dates and notes came from.
He is
62 MI MI MI and owns a
dairy farm. His wife Celestine ‘Stella’ LaLonde is 57
CAN-FRENCH. Charles Eleazer Putnam is a son of Sidney
Putnam and his first wife Romela Forsythe. He was
born in Romeo, Tuscola County November 1, 1870 and will die in Spruce, Michigan
August 25, 1953. Sidney was a son of Eleazer Putnam
and Margaret Lawson from New York State. Stella was born January 20, 1872 and
will die here in March 1937. They were here in 1910 and 1920. The son Earl is
now in Detroit. The son Edward Charles is married now in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

40 MI MI NY and is a superintendent on a farm. His
wife Edith J. Schilean is 36 KS and they have
Virginia H. 12 KS, Marjorie 8 MI, Grosvenor W. 7 MI
and Jean L. 3 MI. They were in Lansing in 1920 and Manhattan Kansas in 1915. In
1900 he was in Benton County Arkansas listed as Grovesnor
10 MI. He was with his widowed mother Hannah (then 45 NY and widowed). His dad
was from New York, but that’s all I have.

70 PA PA OH and widowed. He lives with his married
daughter Alice 40 MI and her husband James A. Salmon 42 MI. He was single here
in 1880. Can’t find him any earlier though.

pilot. His wife Alice Richardson is 33 ENG. They are living with her parents Barkis and Ellen Richardson from England. Alice was here
with her parents in 1920. She said she was married, but he wasn’t there then.

He is
36 MI NY MI and a machinist at a crane factory. His wife Pearl Gower is 36 MI
and they have Dorothy 10 MI, Charles 8 MI (born September 28, 1921 and died
here in Bay City in August of 1980), and Donald 3 MI. Her widowed mother Mary
Gower 71 PA and brother John Gower 43 PA are with them. He is a son of William
Eugene and Carrie Putman from Genesee County in 1900 and then Shiawassee County
in 1910 and he was married and living at home there in 1920. George was born
June 6, 1894 and will die here in Bay City in February 1969. No clue to his
dad’s folks though.

47 MI NY CAN and is a truck driver. His wife Maud Shell is 46 MI and they have
Gerald 15 MI (born March 5, 1905 and died in Saugatuck Michigan July 1986. He’ll
marry a Myrtle some day), and Doris 13 MI. They were here in 1920 and in
Gladwin County in 1910. He is the son of Theodore and Sarah Putman as shown in
1900 in Sanilac County. Dutch family originally from New York State.

Scherer is 60 MI GER GER. They have Catherine a
granddaughter 4 OH. Also here are three Scherer nieces Lucile 24, Helen 23 and
Irene 21 all MI MI GER. He is a son of Lewis J. and
Mary Putnam from Corunna, Shiawassee County. He was home there in 1880. He has
been here in Benton Harbor since the 1890s and this is his second marriage. He
was married to Kittie Brannigan
here in 1900 and she died here August 26, 1904. He was married to Mary in 1910.

at a foundry. His wife Dorothy is 21 MI. They have been married almost 4 years
and have Margaret 3 MI and Robert 2/12 MI. He was single here in 1920.

interior decorator. His wife Mabel F. Emerson is 37 MI. He was single here in
1910 and married Mabel in 1913. He is a son of Eber
and Jennetta Putnam from Niles City, Berrien County
and then Van Buren County. He was born April 13, 1885 and will die here in
April 1965.

is 62 MI. They have been married since 1897. Also here is their married daughter
Leona 31 MI, her husband Max Skinner 34 MI and their son Lou 8 MI. He is a son
of Lewis J. and Mary Putnam from Corunna, Shiawassee County. He was home there
in 1880 and in Van Buren County in 1900. He married Charlotte or Dollie in Van Buren County December 25, 1887. They were in
Cass County in 1910. They were here in Berrien County in 1920.

in 1910 and 1920. He is a son of Herbert L. Putnam and Elizabeth Fuller from
here. He was home here with his widowed dad in 1900.

1917 and died in Coloma Michigan April 20, 1989) and his sisters Wanda M. 11
and Esther M. 9 are with him. They live with their grandparents Fred and Anna
Price. They are kids of Verne L. Putman and Mabel Price. They were at home in
1920 in Shiawassee County. Something must have happened to their mother and
their dad has remarried and is in Lansing, Ingham County now. Dutch family from
New York State.
She is
16 MI MI MI and lives with
her mother Carrie 39 MI and her stepfather Frank Bingham 40 MI. Can’t find them
in 1920.
He is
57 MI MI GER. He is a brick mason. His wife Blanche
E. Gallop is 51 MI and Leland is 21 MI. He is a son of Wiley Bancroft Putnam
and Julia Stern and was born here. He was here through 1910 and next door in
Calhoun County in 1920. New England family from Vermont.
She is
70 IN OH NY and is a cousin of Ida Smalley 79 MI. Grace says she has been
married since she was 20, but no husband is around.
Neil is
21 IN, Cecil 14 IN and Frances 11 MI. They live with their mother who is listed
as Ina Lathrop 44 IN and married, but no husband is here. Ina was the widow of
Perry Putman. He was in Jackson County, Michigan with his folks (Jay Thompson
Putman and Catherine Stone first wife) in 1900. Then in 1910 Perry and Ina were
in Steuben, Indiana. She was widowed here in 1920. I guess she has remarried.
The son Cecil was born October 31, 1915 and will die here in Union City in July
1986. The other son’s name is actually Nihl F. Putnam
and he will die in 1968 and his wife Ailleen in 1994,
both in Athens Calhoun County.
He is
24 MI MI MI and drives a
truck for an iron foundry. His wife Elsie I. is 22 OH. They have been married 4
years and have Josephine M. 3 MI and Beverly 1 4/12 MI. He is a son of Guy H.
and Julia Putnam and was home in Homer, Calhoun County in 1920. The family was
out of New Hampshire before coming here.

69 MI NY NY and owns a farm. His second wife Rose is
46 KS. They still have a nephew Orin Stockwell 15 MI
with them as they did here in 1920. Both Orin’s and Rose’s folks were from
Ohio, so Rose may be a Stockwell herself. Not certain
though. He is a son of Cyrus A. and Clarissa Putnam, and has been here in
Athens all his life. His folks were from New York, and his grandparents were
from Vermont.

MI NY CAN and is an oven man in the food industry. His second wife Selena A.
Lee is 66 MI (think it is 56 as she was 45 in 1920). Also here is her widowed
father George A. Lee 80 MI. He is a son of George Putnam and Caroline Whitney
from Branch County. The family was from Massachusetts to New Hampshire to New
York to here.
He is
43 MI MI MI and still
single. He is a toolmaker in a tractor factory. Carl is a son of Peter Putnam
and Charlotte Doane. He was listed in 1900 as a
nephew with Frank Putnam and Ada Blodget
in Athens, Calhoun County. He was here in Battle Creek in 1910 and back in
Detroit in 1920. He will die December 5, 1940 and is buried nearby in Athens.

company. His wife Minnie L. is 43 SD NY MI and they have Donald M. 20 MI, Jack
E. 15 MI, Maxine G. 5 MI. Also here is Minnie’s widowed mother Emma C. Hallock 63 MI. He was first married to a Gertrude in 1900
and then here with Minnie since the 1910.
Junior
is Thomas Bethel Putnam Jr., but has always been listed as Junior. He is 20 IA
and his brother Max 18 IA. They live with their mother Ray (Rachel Brewer) 39
IA and her new husband Lewis Duffin 35 IA. Rachel was
married to Thomas B. Putnam in Warren County Iowa in 1910 and 1920. He died or
they got divorced I guess and she’s up here now, and I don’t find him in Iowa
now. Thomas was a son of Albert Putnam and Nancy Catherine Pyle. New England
family.
She
is 76 MI and widowed. She is a 2nd Cousin of Ervin and Bertha
Little. She is the widow now of Alonzo A. Putman. They were in Avasso, Shiawassee County in 1920.
He is
68 MI MI CAN and not working at this time. His (3rd)
wife Emma is 56 CAN. Their daughter Paula Whitcomb is now 30 WI and she has
Betty J. 7 MI. Paula was here with the folks single in 1920, got married and is
now divorced. Mervin is a son of George and Caroline Putnam from Branch County.
He was here in 1900 and 1910 with a different wife each year. Nellie Rowe in
1900 and Ida Cole in 1910, and Emma in 1920. The family was from Massachusetts
to New Hampshire to New York to here.

49 NY IL US and is a physician. His wife Mary E. Gatis
is listed as 21 IL but would be about 46 IL. Their son Gatis
(Willard Gatis) is 21 MI. They have been here a while
now. He is a son of Charles Edward Putman and Lucretia
Nichols and was born in Saint Lawrence County New York on April 12, 1881. He
married Mary here December 16, 1908. The son Willard Gatis
was born here on August 11, 1909. Dutch family from New York State.

prisoner in the City Jail. Close to William Destin Putman from Warren County
Virginia, but he is back there married. No one else fits.

farmer. His wife Ola M. is 29 MI and they have Max E. 8 MI. He is a son of
George and Blanche Putnam. They were here living with his folks in 1920. The
folks moved back to Branch County but Harrison stuck around here. Harrison was
born January 13, 1900 and will die in Tekonsha
Michigan in November 1972.

76 MI VT NY and widowed. He was here married to Julia Louisa Dodge who died
here October 29, 1926 for ages up through the 1920. His daughter Gladys 28 MI is married to Bernard Gorsline 28 MI and they have Gerald 2 MI. Been here almost
all his life. He is a son of Orlin Putnam and
Caroline Brown originally from Vermont. He was born May 19, 1853 in Calhoun
County and will die here in Eckford January 21, 1939.
He is 46 MI MI MI and a dairyman at a milk factory. His wife Julia Vesta Thomas is 45 MI and they have Dorothy M. 18 MI, Hugh R. 13 MI, Warren R. 9 MI. He is a son of John H. Putnam and Julia Dodge from Eckford. He was born here April 22, 1883 and will die here in August 1963. Julia was born in 1885 and died in 1965 here in Homer. They were here in 1920. Bernice 38 MI is divorced and back home again. They were all here in 1910. In
1920 Elmer and Nellie were in Kalamazoo. He is a son of William Putnam and
Abbie Styles and was home in Pulaski, Jackson County in 1870.

Margaret is 74 NY. He has been here since the 1860. Not sure who his folks are
but think they are Stephen Putnam and Lucy Francher
from New York and New Hampshire before that. He is connected to Cornelius
Putnam (339) somehow like so many folks here in Calhoun County.

is living with his married daughter Persis 43 NY and
her husband Stanley Noakes 41 NY. Hartson
is a son of Orrin Putnam and Sophia Huntington from Batavia,
Genesee County New York. He was married to Roselle Quance,
and then to Alice Kinney and was widowed back in Batavia in 1920. New England
family.
She is Elora
Gifford 78 MI and widowed now that her husband Era has died. He was a son of Orlean Putnam and Amelia Vanderhoof
and was born here in Cass County. He was with Elora
in 1920.
He is
now 38 MI MI GER and is a city fireman. His wife
Millie (Nellie before) is 34 MI and they have Lucile 10 MI, Warren 8 MI (born
February 22, 1922 and will die in Hartford Michigan October 21, 1992), and
Frank 5 MI. He is a son of Lincoln and Sophia Putnam. He was born here. Line goes
back to Uzziel Putnam in New York and Massachusetts
before that.

Sophia is 67 GER and Don is 27 MI. He is a son of Ira and Rosanna Putnam from
here in Cass County. Again the line like everyone in Cass County goes back to Uzziel Putnam and New England.

wife of 40 years Nellie Maude McGlone is 56 OH. He is
Perry Putnam and Martha Alver’s son and was born in
Clinton County, and has been in Isabella County since the 1870s. His widowed
mom was here in 1920 and maybe that’s why he came here. This is a Dutch family
out of Niagara County NY then back to Canada and then back to Montgomery County
NY.

32 MI NY MI (born February 23, 1897) and he is a laborer at odd jobs. His wife
Dorothy Ward is 25 MI, and they have Thelma 9 MI, Robert 6 MI and Perry 1 MI
(he was just born here April 14, 1929 and will die here in Farwell on August 1,
2000). His widowed mother Lena B. 57 MI is with them. In 1910 he was with his
mother in St. Clair County, but since he wasn’t listed in 1900 not sure of his
dad. But, all the folks here are connected to Perry Putnam and with a kid named
Perry he would be too. In 1880 Perry had two sons, the above Edward and Albert.
Albert was probably his daddy. Roy will die in Detroit in October 1985.

60 MI OH ENG, and rents a farm. His widowed mother Anna 79 ENG is with him. He
is a son of Myron Putnam and Anna Kerr Knight and they were all here since the
1800s. His dad was born in Summit County Ohio and the family came out of New
Hampshire before that. He was born in 1869 and died in Elsie, Jackson County in
1945.

right now. His wife Mary Ann Taft is 61 MI and Evelyn 26 MI. He is a son of
John Wesley and Caroline Putnam of Clayton, Jefferson County, NY. He was in Ovid,
Clinton County in 1900, and here in 1910 and 1920. He will be till he dies in
1933, and Mary will go till 1942. The daughter Evelyn was born in 1903 and will
die in 1990. I don’t think she ever married. English family out of Vermont and
Massachusetts.

was born June 6, 1909 and will die back in Caro in
September 1976. He was home there in 1920. New England family that went up into
Canada for a while and then down here.

fits either here or in Wisconsin.

Putnam and Mary Ann Taft from Clinton County. He was at home there in 1920. He
was born in 1899 and will die in Lowell, Kent County in 1954. Neva was born in
1894 and will die in Lowell July 29, 1965.

insurance salesman. His wife Fannie M. is 31 MI and they have Harold G. 5 MI
and Martha L. 2 MI. He is a son of Michael Andrew and Ella A. Putman. He was
born in Wood County Ohio, but the family has been in Hillsdale County Michigan
since about 1905. German family out of Pennsylvania.

two possibles in 1920, so won’t guess here.

Clyde J. 16 MI and T. Robert 14 MI. He is a son of Alpheus Putman and Amanda
Inman. He was shown at home in 1880 in Sandusky County Ohio. He was single in
Grand Rapids Kent County in 1900 and in Battle Creek Calhoun County in 1910. They
were married here in 1920. German family out of Pennsylvania.

operator at the railroad station. His wife Betsy J. is 29 TX. They have Raymond
L. 11 MI and Laura Bibler 7 TX a daughter of Betsy’s
first marriage. This is the second for Lester too. In 1920 he was married to
Blanche and they were in Ingham County. He is a son of Ernest and Olive Putnam
from Ingham County. He was home in 1900 and in Otsego County in 1910 and back
in Ingham County in 1920.

Wilmot from Tuscola County. They were in St. Clair County in 1920. His son
Orville is married here in town and working on the highway too.

is 56 MI and divorced. Ada Dutton was married to
George Adelbert Putman in Otsego County in 1910 and
then they were divorced. She was here with two kids in 1920 and is now living
with her widowed mother Mary Dutton 76 MI.

watchmaker with his own shop. His wife Ida May Horner is 55 OH. He is the son
of William Henry Putnam and Rhoda Frost from here. Massachusetts family that
went into New York State in the early 1800s. George will die here Friday March
21, 1952 at age 80. Ida will be around till she dies here at age 89.
Vance
Ernest Putman is 35 MI MI MI
and is a house carpenter. His wife Lillian is 28 MI and they have Agnes 11 MI.
Okay, he says he has been married 9 years and she says 11, so I guess Agnes is
by a prior marriage of Lillian. Also Vance was at home single in 1920. He is a
son of George Adelbert Putman and his second wife Ada Dutton from Montmorency County and then Otsego County
in 1920. He was born June 23, 1894 and will die in Lavonia Michigan in August
1971. Dutch family originally from New York and then up into Canada and then
over here.
He is
44 MI MI MI and his wife Philena Marion Pierson is 44 MI. They have Betty J. 13,
Billie Jean 11 and David W. 10 all MI. He owns a hardware store and will become
postmaster here in Goodrich. Remember a lot of early post offices were in
hardware and drug stores in those days. When we lived in Hingham Mass in the
1970s, the South Hingham Post Office took over half a liquor store. Anyway, he
is William Jonathan Putnam, a son of William Henry Putnam and Rhoda Frost. He
was born here in Goodrich July 21, 1884 and will die here in Goodrich April 18,
1940. Philena was born September 7, 1884 and will die
September 21, 1964. New England family.

50 MI CAN NY and says he’s married. He does have a daughter Ella M. 19 MI with
him. He is a laborer in an auto factory and they are boarding. Can’t find him
earlier than this.

at a drug store. He has been married 3 years to Nola 21 MI and they have Robert
2 MI. He is a son of Roscoe A. Putnam and Grace Ethel Cooley from here. He was
born here April 22, 1905 and will die in Lewiston Michigan in October 1976.

49 MI VT MI and his wife Grace Cooley is 48 MI and they have Arthur 16 (born
March 7, 1914 and will die in Lake Michigan August 21, 1994), Florence 14,
Lucille 9 and Jane 7 all MI. He is a son of Simeon Spaulding and Naomi Putnam
from Monroe County where he was born. They were here in 1910 and 1920 too. His
eldest son Glen is married here in town now. The son Arthur will marry Margaret
I. Carter. She was a daughter of Lorenzo Carter and Pearl Ryckman.
Shhe was born in 1913 and will also die in Lake,
Genesee County March 10, 2004.

Harmon R. 7 MI, Robert F. 5 MI (born March 8, 1925 and will die here in Flint
November 25, 1989), and Dorothy J. 3 MI. Also here is his brother Russell 28 MI
(born August 6, 1901) who is a millwright in an auto factory. He is a son of
Robert Henry Putnam and Eunice Wells from Tuscola County originally. He was
born September 17, 1893 and will die in Caro in
September 1969. Clarence has been here since the early 1920s and in Tuscola
County before that. New England family that came down out of Canada in the mid
1800s.

Willett is 42 MI and they now have William 22, Leda M. 18, Evelyn M. 18 and
Pearl C. 7 all MI. They have been here since the 1910, and probably a few years
before that. He is a son of William Putman and Annie Caryl
of Lapeer County. He was born in Lapeer County March 25, 1887 and will die here
in Flint in August 1965. Dutch family from New York then Canada.

34 MI OH MI. He is a metal finisher in an auto factory. His wife Gertrude is 24
MI. He is a son of James R. and Elizabeth Putman from Arenac County. He has
been there all his life. His dad just pops up here in 1880 and I can’t find him
earlier.

wife Bertha Maude Helland is 36 IA. They have been
married 7 years and have Edwin Cecil 5 MI and Ralph Leroy 3 MI. He was born
April 13, 1894 and will be here in Flint until he dies May 21, 1965. He is a
son of Lafayette Putman and Verdia Summers from
Towner County North Dakota. This family is out of Gilmer County WV and from
Fauquier County, Virginia before that. His folks were then in Pike County,
Missouri before coming up there. Part of the Southern Branch.

MI. He is a son of Albert and Cora Putnam from here in the County. He was home
in 1920.

They have been married only 4 years and Cora has a daughter Nora J. Lunn 22 OK with her. He is a son of Edwin H. and Martha E.
Putnam from Allamanakee County Iowa (1900) and then in
Winneshiek County by 1910 after his parents got divorced. This line goes back
to Massachusetts.

Cora is 40 MI and they have Thomas 18 MI and Genevieve 8 MI. He looks to be
Sidney’s son from Tuscola County as shown there in 1900 except Albert says his
folks were both NY, but Sidney and his wife Catherine were both CAN. He is the
only one the right age in 1900. Albert was born in 1886 and will die here in 1939.
Cora was born in 1890 and will be here until 1969 when she will die.
She
is 24 MI MI MI and a
patient at the State Hospital for the Insane. There were a couple in 1920 that
would fit within a year. Can’t really make a guess.

37 MI CAN MI and is a commercial traveler for automotive oils. His wife Esther
Anderson is 34 MI and they have Betty J. 7 MI. He is a son of John Donovan
Putnam and Anne Rennie from Leelanau County. He
married Esther Anderson on October 5, 1915 and was there in 1920. New
Englanders that went up into Canada early on.

36 IL IN OH and he owns an auto garage. His wife Hazel is 33 MI and they have Edsel L. 9 MI, born September 7, 1920 and died in Warren
Michigan February 26, 1989. (Obviously Ford Motors holds his attention). He is
a son of Charles Marsh Putnam from Licking County Ohio. They were all here in
1920. New Englanders originally.

farm. His wife Arissa is 21 MI and they have Glendora
1 MI. He is a son of Charles Herbert and Adda Putnam
and has been here all his life. He was born October 12, 1907 and will die in
Kalamazoo August 7, 1989. He lives down the street from his folks and probably
works on that farm.

59 MI MI MI and owns a
farm. His wife Adda Barton is 56 MI. He is Charles
Herbert Putnam. He is a son of Charles H. and Sarah Putnam and has been here
all his life. Family goes back to New York and then back to Connecticut
descending from Cornelius Putnam (339).

in a garage. His wife D. Lucille is 26 MI. They have been married 6 years and
have C. Myrl (Carlton Myrl
named after Herbert’s son who died in 1915) 5 MI and Harold L. 1 MI. He is a
son of Charles Herbert and Addie Putnam from Hamilton. He was at home with them
in 1920. Young Carlton will be in WWII and will be killed in Action not long
after D-Day on July 31, 1944. He is buried at the American Cemetery in Normandy
France.

The cemetery record show that Melvin was married to Mary Stevens daughter of
Frank Stevens and Millie Rice and was born February 5, 1907 in Homer Michigan
and died in Albion Michigan September 10, 1979. Apparently they were married in
Marshal Michigan March 1, 1930 so they wouldn’t be these folks unless the child
Frank was from a previous marriage of one of them. They will have a Melvin
James Jr. born on November 18, 1932 and will die January 9, 1993.

maybe the Mitze or Metz folks were Bill’s. He is the son of James Putnam (2531)
and Sarah Jane Howe as shown in 1880 in St. Clair County.

February 2, 1931. Claude is a son of William Putman and Mary Chambers from here
in Wells. He was born in Wells Township December 25, 1879 and will die right
here February 17, 1955. Jennie was born October 7, 1885, and will be here till
she dies September 28, 1975. Their son Austin L. was born April 8, 1916 and
will die in action in WWII on October 5, 1942. This is a Dutch family that went
from New York up into Canada and then back here in the 1860s. This is the line
of Mark Putnam of Caro, Tuscola County who has done a
great deal of work on this Dutch line. Peter Walton is Mark’s dad.

be in the 1920 census. Family was originally from New England.

Roy and Mary Thompson. He was born November 1, 1896 out in Cape Breton, but the
family was from Maitland, Hants Nova Scotia and were back there by the 1911.
Roy will die here February 27, 1987.
