A. N. (ANDREW NEWTON) PUTMAN  Bemidji, Beltrami County

He is 36 MN NH MN single and lodging. He is a son of Willard Putnam. He was home in Douglas County in 1880 and in Hubbard County in 1900. He will be married and back in Hubbard County in 1920.

 

FRANK H. (HARWOOD) PUTNAM  No Township, Cass County

He is 41 MA MA MA, Jennie his wife of 5 years is 43 GER, Esther 16 MN. Jennie was married before, and Esther is from her first marriage. He is Frank Harwood Putnam, born February 1, 1869 in Sutton, Mass. He is a son of Peter Holland and Harriet Augusta Putnam. His folks are still back there. He was single in Duluth in 1900 and single here in 1905. He and Jennie are here in 1920 and 1930.

 

MARY PUTMAN  Brainerd, Crow Wing County

She is 73 NY and now widowed. She lives with her widowed daughter Clara Davis 52 IL. She is the widow of Mortimer Samuel Putnam from Oswego County, New York. They have been here since the 1870s.

 

FRANK E. (EDDY) PUTNAM  Blue Earth, Faribault County

He is 52 VT VT VT. His wife of 16 years Jennie Rector is 42 NY, Harold is 15 MN and Alice Elicia 12 MN. He was born January 9, 1857 in Grafton, Vermont, a son of John Henry Putnam (2825) and Alice Augusta Eddy. They were here in 1900 and will be in 1920. He is a State Senator.

 

JANE W. PUTNAM  Rushford, Fillmore County

She is Harriet Jane Willard and is 47 IL and now widowed. Her kids are Persis 21 WI, Katerina 20 WI, Rufus W. (William) 18 WI, Harriet 17 WI, Mary A. 12 WI, Janet 11 WI, and Emily 5 WI. She was here in 1900 and 1905 married to William Rice Putnam who has died in the last few years. William was a son of Rufus Putnam and Mary Herskell and was born in Clark County, Ohio. Jane and a couple of the daughters will be in Urbana, Champaign County, Illinois in 1920.

 

FRANK D. (DANIEL) PUTNAM  Red Wing, Goodhue County

He is 32 MN MA MA. Marie C. Jorgenson his wife of 6 years is 27 MN DEN DEN, and they have Frank R. 1 9/12 MN. He is a son of William Herrick Putnam and his first wife Adeline Rowle from here in Red Wing. He was home here in 1900, and in 1920 will still be here with more kids. By 1930 they are in St. Paul.

 

WILLIAM H. (HERRICK) PUTNAM  Red Wing, Goodhue County

He is 62 MA MA and President of the local Bank. Nellie L. Butts is his second wife, and they have been married 16 years now. She is 50 NY, Mary P. 35 MN, Frederick W. 25 MN, and Richard H. 8 MN. He is number 3193, son of William Richardson Putnam number 1542. He married Nellie here on July 10, 1894. His first wife Adeline Rowel had died in 1890. He’s been here since the 1860s and will be in 1920 too. OBITS has the son Richard born July 15, 1901 and died in Minneapolis September 6, 1981.

 

EDWARD T. PUTMAN  Excelsior, Hennepin County

He is 70 NY NY NY and lists himself as single. He came here in about 1902 and was alone here in 1905. He has a nephew Edward M. Putman 34 NY, Edith his wife of 11 years is 35 NY and their son J. Kingsley 8 NY. Edward is a son of Ralph Lewis Putman and Jane Voorhes from Montgomery County New York. Edward Mahlon is a son of Mahlon Ralph and Amanda Putman. Mahlon and Edward T. were brothers. This whole group will head back to New York. Edward T. will die there in 1919 and young Edward and that family are in Hamilton County New York in 1920. Edith will be here till she dies June 23, 1960. Dutch Family.

 

FRANK H. (HIRAM) PUTNAM  Excelsior, Hennepin County

He is 40 IL NY VT. Hattie Miller his wife of 18 years is 39 IL, Richard A. 16 IL, Frances J. 13 IL and Robert E. 3 MN. Also here is his widowed mother Laura Austin Putnam 73 VT. He is a son of Parker Putnam and Laura Austin of Peoria County, Illinois. He was home there in 1880 and was in Peoria in 1900  and here in 1905 with Hattie and the first two children, and will be here in 1920.

 

ABRAM PUTMAN  Minneapolis W8, Hennepin County

Still here and living with his son Henry. Abe is 57 IL and his wife of 30 years, Emma Holme is now 52 OH. Been here for ages. He’ll be here till he dies January 30, 1941.

 

BLANCHE PUTNAM  Minneapolis W4, Hennepin County

She is 17 WI NY ME single and a maid. She is a daughter of Nelson and Cora Putnam and was at home in Suamico, Brown County, Wisconsin in 1900.

 

CORRINNNE PUTNAM  Minneapolis W5, Hennepin County

She is 29 MN NY NH and listed as a married daughter of E. R. and Alice May. The Mays have only been married 17 years, so this is a bit confusing.

 

EDWARD C. (CORNELIUS) PUTNAM  Minneapolis W5, Hennepin County

He is 57 WI NY CAN. Mary Johnson his wife of 25 years is now 55 NORWAY. He is a son of Charles Wesley Putnam and Ellen Coyle. He was born February 6, 1853 in Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. He married Mary in Dell Rapids, South Dakota July 1881. They were here in 1900.

 

FRANK PUTNAM  Minneapolis W5, Hennepin County

He is 50 MA MA VT and now widowed. In 1900 and 1905 he was married to Mary Christian from Switzerland. She has died but her father John Christian 67 and widowed is still with them. Frank’s daughter Alice 25 MN is still here, and now his widowed mother Mary 75 VT is here as well. Frank is a son of Lorenzo and Mary H. Putnam. He was born in Becket, Berkshire, Massachusetts.

 

FRANKLIN L. PUTNAM  Minneapolis W5, Hennepin County

He is 65 MA ME ENG, and his wife of 17 years Emily L. is 75 MI. She is his second wife. They were here in 1900. He is Franklin Junior, a son of Franklin Putnam and Mary Rice from Houlton, Maine and then here in Minneapolis by the 1860s. He was widowed by 1880, and then married Emily in 1892. Franklin will die here in Minneapolis on May 30, 1919. Emily will die here January 7, 1917.

 

GEORGE A. (ALONZO) PUTMAN  Minneapolis W13, Hennepin County

He is 64 NY and his second wife Mary Ann 49 MA. They have been married 9 years, second for both. In 1900 he was married to Nellie Fletcher and here in Minneapolis. George will die here November 26, 1913.

 

GEORGE Y. PUTNAM  Minneapolis W2, Hennepin County

He is 44 IL NY NY. Minnie C. Leighton his wife of 10 years is 33 MN, and Maurice L. 2 NE. He is a son of Hollis and Charlotte Putnam. He was born in Will County, Illinois, and was there from 1860 through 1880. He was here in 1900, but not in the Index.

 

HART C. (CHARLES) PUTNAM  Minneapolis W5, Hennepin County

He is 29 IL ??, and has been married for 3 years to Carrie L. 29 MN. They are here in 1920 too, still no kids. He is a son of Abraham Putman and Emma Holme and was born while the family was in Cass County, Illinois. His family was all here in 1900. Dutch folks from New York State.

 

HATTIE N. PUTNAM  Minneapolis W4, Hennepin County

She is 36 VT NH VT, single and lives by herself.

 

HENRY B. PUTMAN  Minneapolis W8, Hennepin County

He is 29 IL IL OH. His wife of 6 years Blanche is 27 IA. He is a son of Abram Putman and Emma Holme from here. In fact, they are living with him now, but I listed them separately.

 

HENRY J. PUTMAN  Minneapolis W8, Hennepin County

He is 45 NY NY CT, Annette Stiles his wife of 21 years is 43 WI. Her mother Georgiana Stiles 75 ME is with them. All are here in 1920. He is a son of John Henry Putnam from NY and the whole family was here in 1880. Henry and Annette were here in 1900. Dutch folks.

 

HENRY N. PUTNAN  Minneapolis W4, Hennepin County

He is 36 VT NH VT, single and boarding. He and the above Hattie or Harriet are probably siblings, but can’t find either in the Vermont 1880.

 

JAMES (GEORGE) PUTMAN  Minneapolis W2, Hennepin County

He is 49 MN MA MA and on his second marriage of 4 years to Lilla 43 OH. He has Gladys 23 MN, George 15 MN and Dorothy 3 MN. George is a son of George W. Putnam from Anoka County. He was there in 1870 and 1880. He was widowed here in 1900 with Gladys and George. The James is either a typo or his middle name. He and Lilla are here in 1920, and he is properly listed as George then.

 

JOSEPH L. (LOUIS) PUTNAM  Minneapolis W10, Hennepin County

He is 55 NY NY NY, Josephine L. Michand his wife of 27 years is 42 MN, Mabel 19 MN, Frances 17 MN, Myrtle 14 MN, Joseph 11 MN, Earl 8 MN and Lois 8/12 MN. Also here is his son Hollis is 26 MN and his wife of 5 years Josephine 25 MN and two kids Arnold 3 MN and Harry 1 5/12 MN. Then there are Edna Becker his divorced daughter 24 MN, and her daughter Beatrice 2 MN. He is a son of Hollis Putnam and Charlotte Lobdell. He was born in Montgomery County, New York. The family was in Will County, Illinois from 1860 through 1880 and then in Chicago. He has been here married since the 1880s. They are in St. Paul across the River in 1920 and by 1930 he is back here and widowed. Dutch family from Montgomery County, New York.

 

KATIE O. PUTMAN  Minneapolis W5, Hennepin County

She is 30 (really 56) NY NY CT and has her sister Frances M. 32 (really 54) NY NY CT. Both are single. They are daughters of John Skinner and Caroline Putman. They were here with their widowed mother in 1900.

 

LESTER R. PUTNAM  Minneapolis W2, Hennepin County

He is 22 ND NY IA. He is out of work and boarding. Don’t find him anywhere around the Plains States in 1900.

 

LORENZO D. PUTNAM  Minneapolis W 8, Hennepin County

He is now 56 MA MA VT, Mary C. Turnbull his wife of 31 years now is 52 IL, Edith E. 27 MN, Irving L. 25 MN, Albert T. (Turnbull) 19 MN, Roy W. 21 MN, and Margaret 18 MN. His folks were Lorenzo Putnam and Mary Thayer from Becket, Mass. They are here still in 1920 and she is widowed by 1930.

 

LOUIS F. (FRANKLIN) PUTNAM  Minneapolis W8, Hennepin County

He is 34 ME ME ME, Lillian his wife of 13 years is 31 MN and Vera is 10 MN. They were here in 1900 and will be in 1920. He is a son of Franklin Putnam Jr. from Houlton, Maine, and was here with him in 1880 and married here in 1900. They are here in 1920.

 

MYRA PUTNAM  Minneapolis W8, Hennepin County

She is 73 MA MA MA and single. She lives with her sister Emma Stevens 64 NY and her husband Frank Stevens and their family. They are daughters of Nathan Bancroft Putnam and Elmira Beaman from Franklin County, Massachusetts and then Chautauqua County, New York.

 

NED B. PUTNAM  Minneapolis W2, Hennepin County

He is 53 PA PA PA and a Saloon Keeper. Frances Callie Frost, his wife of 11 years, is 29 VA and Harriett 5 MN. Callie’s married sister Doris Miller 35 VA is with them. They were here in 1900 and will be in 1920. His gin mill is called Put’s Bar. He will be here till he dies in 1938.

 

FRANK R. PUTNAM  Orono Township, Hennepin County

He is 30 WI NY WI. He is single and boarding. He was single in Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin in 1900. Think he is a son of Henry and Mary Putnam from Janesville. He was born in February 1881 so missed the 1880 census by a few months. He is married here in 1920.

 

MYRTLE & RICHARD PUTMAN  Park Rapids, Hubbard County

She is 6 MN MN IA and he is 2 MN MN MI. They live with Frank and Mary Kidd. They are both living with Andrew and Sarah Putman here in 1920. These are probably kids of one of his brothers.

 

ANDREW PUTNAM  Rockwood Township, Hubbard County

He is 41 MN NH WI. He is single and boarding. He is Willard’s son and is also listed as single in Beltrami County now. Andrew is a son of Willard Putnam from NH. He was here in 1900, but was born back in Douglas County. He is married here in 1920.

 

CHARLES PUTNAM  Rockwood Township, Hubbard County

He is 27 MN NH WI. He has his sister Edith 19 MN NH WI. More of Willard’s kids. They were both here at home in 1900. Charles was in Beltrami County in 1905 and his brother Andrew is there now.

 

WILLIAM R. (RUSSELL) PUTNAM  White Oak Township, Hubbard County

He is 50 NY CAN NY. Anna Elsie Stevenson his wife of 16 years is 48 NORWAY. Ida is 15 MN, Orpha S. 13 MN, Gordon W. (William) 7 MN and Anna E. 6 MN. He is a son of William Gordon Putnam and Sarah Sheldon of Lisbon, St. Lawrence County, NY. His dad was from Canada. He and Annie were here in 1900. He will die here June 15, 1916. Orpha is in St. Paul in 1920, but no idea where the rest are. Gordon is in Minneapolis in 1930 though.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Balsam Township, Itasca County

He is 52 NY MN NY and widowed. He was here in 1900 as well.

 

ELIZABETH PUTNAM  Comfort Township, Kanabec County

She is 60 CAN and now widowed. Frank is 24 MN and Julia 15 MN. Elizabeth Diantha Bowen is the widow now of Charles Henry Putman. They were all here in 1900. By 1920 she and her son Frank will be next door in Pine County. Her son Howard Lee, listed next, will be with then there too.

 

H. (HOWARD) LEE PUTNAM  Comfort Township, Kanabec County

He is 29 MN CAN IRE (actually MN IL CAN), Mary Sell his wife of 3 years is 20 MN and they have Lawrence 2 MN and Alice 1 MN. He is a son of Charles Henry Putnam and Elizabeth Bowen. He was off somewhere in 1900, but is here now and will be in Pine County along with his mother in 1920.

 

JORGINA (GEORGIANA) PUTNAM  Willmar City, Kandiyohi County

She is 28 MN and states she is married and has been for 9 years. She was here in 1905 with the kids too. She has twin daughters Hattie and May 7 MN. They are living with her folks Mathias and Lottie Hanson from Norway. She and the kids are here in 1920 too. There was an Edward Putnam living alone here in 1900. He was born in Illinois and the kids are listed MN IL MN so it would be him. She is still here with the kids in 1920 and in Minneapolis in 1930.

 

ELIZABETH J. PUTNAM  Hallock Township, Kittson County

She is 80 CAN and widowed. She is living with her daughter Cora 40 CAN CAN CAN and her husband Alfred Sippel 49 CAN. She is Elizabeth Jane Edison, now the widow of Martin Mulford Putnam from Eligin East County in Ontario. She and Cara and Martin were there in 1881. Dutch family from New York originally. See the 1881 Canadian Census for his line. Elizabeth was his second wife. They were married back in Ontario in 1857.

 

EUGENE W. PUTNAM  International Falls, Koochiching County

He is 32 WI WI WI single and lives alone. . He is a son of John Putnam and Julia Adelene Wells. He was born in Auburn, Chippewa County, Wisconsin and was at home there in 1880 and 1900, and then was single in St. Louis County Minnesota in 1905. He is married here in 1920.

 

FRANK E. PUTNAM  Nassau, Lac Qui Parle County

He is 49 IL VT IL, and a grain buyer. Maggie A. Hauk, his wife of 30 years is 47 NY, Jennie E. 26 SD, Ernest H. 18 SD, and Margaret E. 11 SD. He is a son of Kitterage Putnam and was born in Kane County, Illinois in 1859 and was there in 1860. In 1880 he was here in Lac qui Parle County with his dad. In 1900 he and his wife Maggie were in Grant County, South Dakota. They were back here in 1910. Frank will be widowed here in 1920.

 

WILLIAM PUTNAM  Ceylon, Martin County

He is 57 ENG single and lives alone.

 

GLADYS PUTMAN  Grand Meadow, Mower County

She is 23 MN MN MN, single and lodging. She is a daughter of George H. Putnam. She was at home with him in Minneapolis in 1900.

 

MIKE PUTMAN  Le Roy Township, Mower County

He is 22 MN FRENCH GERMAN. He is single and boarding.

 

CHARLES PUTMAN  Kalmar Township, Olmsted County

He is 48 NY NY NY. Mary Carlson, his wife of 18 years, is 32 MN and they have an adopted son Charles 10 MN. He is a son of Lewis and Lavinia and was here in 1880. He and Mary were here in 1900. Mary will be widowed here in 1920.

 

WILLIAM PUTMAN  Rochester, Olmsted County

He is 31 MN NY NY, and Lillie his wife of 10 years is 29 MN. They have a son Hardin or something like that 8 MN. He is a son of Lewis and Lavinia and was born here. He and Lillie were here in 1900 and he is alone here in 1920.

 

HERBERT A. (ASA) PUTMAN  Amor Township, Otter Tail County

He is 44 MN MA MA, Celia Jane Oakes, his wife of 18 years, is 45 MN, Henry O. 17 MN, Edith (Helen E.) 16 MN. Carrie D. 13 MN, Herbert E. (Everett) 11 MN, Alford T. 8 MN and Kenneth E. 6 MN. He is a son of Henry and Caroline Putnam. He was born in Sherburne County, in Stearns County in 1870, and here in 1880 and 1900, and will be here in 1920.

 

SAMUEL T. (TYLER) PUTNAM  Amor, Otter Tail County

He is 33 MN MA MA born Nov. 1876. His wife Mary Clow Pattille is 32 PA PA OH and theyhave Doritha 4 MN. Mary’s widowed mother Emma Pattille is 72 OH. He is a son of Henry Putnam and Caroline Newton originally from Sutton, Mass. They were out here in Sherburne County in 1860, Stearns in 1870 and here by 1880. He was here in 1900 with his mother who was by then a widow. They are here through 1930.

 

FRANK S. PUTNAM  Pelican Township, Otter Tail County

He is 51 MN NY NY. Hannah Robinson, his wife of 25 years, is 43 WI, Floyd 21 MN, Worthy 17 MN and Birdella 12 MN. He is a son of Luman Putnam and Lavinia Vanderwark and was born in Wright County. He has been here since the 1890s and will be here in 1920.

 

ETHEL O. PUTNAM  Grand Forks, Polk County

She is 25 KY MA KY, single and boarding. She is a public school teacher.

 

LENA PUTNAM  St. Paul W2, Ramsey County

Lenna Cochrane is 45 VT and widowed. She has her daughter Katheryn 14 ND NY VT and Bernice 10 ND NY VT with her. She and the kids were in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota in 1900. She was married then to Fred S. Putman for New York. She and Bernice are here in 1920 and her son George is back here too.

 

MRS. H. M. PUTNAM  St. Paul W2, Ramsey County

She is 51 MN and married. She is a patient at Mounds Park Sanitarium. She would be Winnie Williams, wife of Hiram Morgan Putnam. They were in Traverse County together in 1900, and she is also presently listed with him back in Traverse County. Hiram will be remarried and in Minneapolis in 1920.

 

JENNY PUTNAM  St. Paul W2, Ramsey County

She is 52 GER (born in Berlin) and widowed. She lives with her married daughter Lydia Vogt 30 MN ME GER and her husband Anthony Vogt 35 GER, who have been married 11 years. Jennie Zell is now the widow of Sumner Putnam from here in St. Paul. She married Sumner here July 16, 1878. They are all still here in 1920.

 

JAMIE PUTNAM  St. Paul W3, Ramsey County

He is 28 SWED SWED SED and single.

 

CELIA PUTNAM  St. Paul W4, Ramsey County

She is 70 NY NY NY and widowed. She is boarding with an Olson family. She looks to be the widow of Charles Putnam as shown in 1870 in Wabasha County. She was widowed just outside of St. Paul in 1880.

 

CILLY PUTNAM  St. Paul W4, Ramsey County

She is 31 IL VA DC, and listed as a black servant.

 

D. R. (DAVID RAMSEY) PUTNAM  St. Paul W4, Ramsey County

He is 25 OH OH OH. He is single and boarding. He is David Ramsey Putnam, son of David E. Putnam and Susan Ramsey and was born in Montgomery Township, Franklin County, Ohio. His family is from Massachusetts. He is here in 1920, and married to Bess Whipple.

 

DAVID R. PUTNAM  St. Paul W4, Ramsey County

He is 29 NY VT OH, single and boarding. I have a feeling this is a botched up listing, and this is a dual listing for David Ramsey Putnam from Ohio.

 

DOUGLAS PUTNAM  St. Paul W5, Ramsey County

He is 45 OH OH OH single and boarding. He is a son of Benjamin Perkins Putnam and Lydia Edgerton and was at home in 1880 in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio, and will be married by 1920. Massachusetts family originally.

 

ERNEST PUTNAM  St. Paul W7, Ramsey County

He is 50 NY GER GER. Helen Louisa Van Auken his wife of 15 years is 42 MN, Henry 6 MN, Catherine 4 MN. Another botched listing Ernest was born in Wisconsin. He is Ernest Boles Putnam, a son of Henry Cleveland Putnam and Jane Eliza Balcom of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He and Helen were here in 1895 and 1900. Helen and the kids are in Volusia County Florida in 1920.

 

MARY PUTMAN  St. Paul W7, Ramsey County

She is 31 IA MO NE, single and a servant with the Briggs family. She looks like the daughter of George Putnam and Ida Huyek from Grundy County, Iowa except the parents birth states are wrong.

 

PEARL PUTNAM  St. Paul W7, Ramsey County

She is 22 MN MN MN single and boarding. She is a daughter of Eugene Elmer Putnam. She was home in Big Lake, Sherburne County in 1900.

 

FRANK PUTNAM  St. Paul W10, Ramsey County

He is 26 VT ME MA single and boarding. He is a teacher.

 

CATHERINE E. PUTNAM  St. Paul W12, Ramsey County

She is 49 WI CT CT. She is single as is her sister Sarah L. 44 WI CT CT. They are both daughters of John Day Putnam and Charlotte Lovell from St. Croix County, Wisconsin. They were at home there in 1870 and in Pierce County, Wisconsin in 1880. The folks have moved to California. Catherine is a doctor, Sarah a teacher. They were in Minneapolis in 1900.

 

JOHN J. PUTNAM  St. Paul W12, Ramsey County

He is 49 NY NY NY and married for 23 years. Lucille is 42 RI and his brother with no name listed is 35 NY and single. He is a druggist who owns his own drug store.

 

W. A. (WORTHY ADELBERT) PUTNAM  Luverne, Rock County

He is 64 NY NH CT. Mary Ellen Welch his wife of 42 years is 66 AL, Lulu S. 34 MN and Ada J. 38 MN are still at home. He is still a Clergyman. He is a son of Pliney Putnam and Flora Edgerton and was in Winona County since he was born, and then in Nobles County in 1900 and here in 1905. By 1920 they will be in South Dakota.

 

ELMER E. (EUGENE) PUTNAM  Big Lake, Sherburne County

He is 53 MN MA MA and is still the Postmaster in town. Viola M. Johnson, his second wife, is 47 MN, Pearl M. 23 MN, Lester R. (Russell) 9 MN, Bert L. 8 MN, Daisy A. 5 MN. He is a son of John Elmer Putnam and Nancy Merriman from Massachusetts. He was born here and will be here still in 1930.

 

GEORGE D. PUTNAM  Big Lake, Sherburne County

He is 48 MN US IL, Lila Maude Putnam, his wife of 17 years, is 40 MN, Hugh E. 16 MN, Ethel M. 14 MN, Glen J. 13 MN, Estella E. 11 MN, and Marjorie L. 7 MN. Also here is a niece Alice Dike 28 MN. George is the son of Peter Putman and Patience Godfrey from Wright County as shown there in 1870 and 1880. Lilla is a daughter of John Elmer Putnam from here. They were here in 1900 and will be in Snohomish County, Washington by 1920.

 

JULIAN PUTNAM  Big Lake, Sherburne County

He is 23 MN MN CAN and single. He lives with his ‘mother’ Carrie 42 CAN, who has just married Joseph McDonald. Julian is a son of Eugene Elmer Putnam from here in Big Lake. He was home with him in 1900 here. I think the listing calling him a son is wrong, probably a ‘servant.’ Census guy probably wrote ‘ser’ and it was interpreted as ‘son. At any rate Carrie is not his mommy.

 

WILLIAM H. (HENRY) PUTNAM  Big Lake, Sherburne County

Best guess is that he is a son of Ira and Elizabeth Putnam as shown in 1860 in Luzerne, Warren County, New York.

Putnam and Ann Gennette Wheeler from Winnebago County, Illinois. Marvin was a son of John Wellington Putnam and Minerva Scott from New York and then here in Winnebago County. Marvin died there March 25, 1866. His widow ‘Hettie’ married Seymour Barker in 1868 and Frank was with them in Winnebago County in 1870 and Freeborn County Minnesota in 1880. They were here in 1900 and will still be in 1920. They are divorced by 1930 when Frank is with his married daughter Hattie in St. Paul. New England family.

He is 33 NH NH NH, Jennie Johnson his brand new second wife is 20 NORWAY, and Walter Donald Putnam, his son from his first marriage to Jennie Olson, is 11 MN. He is a son of Parker Alonzo Putnam and Ida May Henry, and was here with them in the 1890s. He was in Stutsman County, North Dakota in 1900 with his first wife Jenny Olson also from Norway. His folks are still here and listed shortly. Actually looks like they may be in the same house, or at least next door. Walter was born November 13, 1898 and wioll die in Wilkin County June 5, 1961.

He is 53 NH NH NH, Winnie Williams, his wife of 27 years, is now 50 NH, and they have Fred (George Frederick) 19 MN, Alonzo 16 MN and Hiram 12 MN. Winnie’s widowed mother Leslie Williams 69 NH is with them. Winnie is also listed in a sanitarium in St. Paul now as well. Hiram will be in Minneapolis with a new wife in 1920. Young George will be in North Dakota in 1920 and in St. Paul by 1930. Young Hiram in Montana in 1920 and back in Minnesota in 1930. He is a son of Alonzo Putnam and Hannah Cole from Haverhill, Grafton County, New Hampshire.

He is 24 NH NH NH. He has been married to Lillian May Collins for 3 years. She is 24 MN and they have a son Wayne 2 MN. May’s brother, Something Collins 22 MN is with them. They are in Ransom County, North Dakota in 1920 and 1930. He is a son of Walter E. Putnam and Mary Eva True. His dad died in the 1890s here and his mom remarried Elsworth Dwella and they were all in Todd County in 1900. His dad was a son of Alonzo Putnam and Hannah Cole from Haverhill, Grafton County, New Hampshire, and a brother to the above Parker and Hiram Putnam.

He was home there in 1900 and will be here in 1920. Edgar married Lelia August 14, 1907 here in Wabasha County. OBITS has the son Ray born December 24, 1909 and died here in Elgin in December 1985. Edgar Worthy was born February 19, 1874 and will in Olmstead County May 22, 1955.

He is now 80 NY MA CT and widowed since Jennie Fuller his wife has died. He is a Lawyer. His widowed daughter Flora Kading 60 NY is with him as she was in 1880 and 1900. He is a son of Pliny Putnam and Flora Egerton from Arkwright, Chautauqua County New York and Winchendon Massachusetts before that. He came out here with his folks in the mid 1850s. His dad was widowed here in 1880. Alvers was an attorney and will be here in 1920 at age 90.

He will be here in 1920 single and living with his widowed mother Rose and sister Myrtle. He is a son of William Putnam and Rose Stadler from here in the County. OBITS has his birth as October 20, 1883 and death in January 1963.

He is 72 CAN and now widowed as Amanda Bonham has died in the last few years. His daughter (sister) Mary Ann Wood 67 CAN and her husband Thomas M. Wood 79 ENG are now living with him. He will be in Blue Earth County in 1920 and back here in 1930.

He is now 75 NY VT NY. He has now been married to Sarah Jane Ford for over 44 years. She is now 74 VT. He is a son of Pliny Putnam and Flora Edgerton of Chautauqua County, New York, and been here in Winona County since the 1850s. Sarah will die here March 25, 1912, and he will die here on April 28, 1919.

He is now 67 NY MA NY, and has been married to Harriet Amelia Irwin for 36 years now. She is 57 IN and only Herbert 21 MN is still at home. Been here since the very early 1870s. He is a son of Pliny Putnam and Flora Edgerton from Arkwright, New York. Charles will die here January 3, 1928.

He is 23 ND NY NY, his wife of 2 years Grace M. Gage is 22 MN MN MN and they have Douglas E. 1 MN. . He is a son of William Washington Putnam and Rose Stadler from Wabasha County. His family went briefly (1884-86) to North Dakota where Wallace was born. They were all back here in Wabasha County by 1887, and here for the 1900 census. He is Wallace Charles Putnam born October 7, 1886 and will die here August 12, 1966. They are here in 1920 and 1930 and longer. Grace was born December 4, 1887 and will die in Wabasha County July 19, 1968.

They were in Minneapolis in 1900 and will be in Stearns County in 1920. He has a son Arthur who was with him in 1900 and will be again in 1920, but is off someplace now it seems.

In 1900 there was a Mary Ann Putnam (then 69 CAN) living here in Mankato. Not sure how they are related, but they must be. Asaph will be in the St. James Home for the Aged in Watonwan County in 1930 at age 93.

He is 51 MA, Jennie 53 GER and Louise 8 MN an adopted daughter (probably Jennie's). There is also a niece, Helen M. Erickson 18 ND with them. They were here in 1910. He is Frank Harwood Putnam, born February 1, 1869 in Sutton, Mass. He is a son of Peter Holland and Harriet Augusta Putnam. He was in Duluth, St. Louis County single in 1900, and married here in 1910. They are here in 1930. He is the postmaster.

He is 28 MN and boarding with James O'Connor. He is a son of James L. and Josephine from Yellow Medicine County. He was there in 1900 and 1910. Mom is now widowed in St. Paul. OBITS has him born September 29, 1891 and died in Spicer Minnesota in March 1986.

He is a son of Eugene Elmer Putnam of Sherburne County. He is now 34 MN, Jessie Clark 33 WI, Herschel 12 ND and a daughter Avis 10 ND. I don’t know where the folks were in 1910, but the two kids were in Sherburne County in 1910 with Jessie’s folks, Elijah and Ada Clark. OBITS has Herschel born May 24, 1907 and died in Elk River Minnesota in September 1979.

He is 7 WI CAN MN and a stepson of Gustav L. Bliesner. His sister Marguerite 11 WI is here too. His mother Laura Hill is 26 MN.  Laura was married to Percival Putnam from Canada in Bayfield County Wisconsin in 1910. They were divorced as he is in Douglas County Wisconsin in 1920 with another wife. These folks are in Cass County in 1930. OBITS has Walter born February 6, 1912 and died in Pine River Crow Wing County April 16, 1977.

They were married here in 1910. The son Frank will be in the U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland in 1930.

He was born in Linn County, Iowa and was there with his folks in 1870 and 1880 and with his wife Maude there in 1900. He was in Kane County Illinois in 1910, and I don’t know where Maud was. They will get divorced soon. She and Eleanor are in Los Angeles and Frank is remarried here in 1930.

He is 73 NY and living at the State Soldiers Home. He may be the son of Frederick Putnam and Mary Maynard as shown in Richfield, Hennepin County in 1880. Or he might be the son of Archibald Putman from Tioga County New York in 1850 and then was married in Davenport Iowa in 1880. Not sure as I haven’t seen either one since the 1880 census.

He was here in 1900, and also has a new wife. He was widowed back in 1900. He is 58 MN, G. Lilla 52 OH. Daughters are Gladys 32 MN and H. Dorothy 13 MN. He is a son of George W. Putnam of Anoka County where he was born. He and Lilla were here in 1910 and had been married for just 4 years then. They are here in 1930.

He is 54 NY, Annette Stiles 52 WI. Also there is her mom, Georgiana Stiles 85 ME. Henry is a son of John Putnam from New York and has been here since the 1870s. He and Annette will be in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1930.

He is 64 NH, Emily 54 MN. Hiram has been in Traverse County a while, and was married to Winnie Williams who would be 60 NH by now. If this is him, then Emily is new. To make it more interesting, the Hiram who was in Traverse County is still there and appears as widowed. May be two Hirams around, ages are 1 year apart. There is a record of a Frank Hiram Putnam dying here March 21, 1938. At any rate, He is a son of Alonzo Putnam and Hannah Cole from Haverhill, Grafton County New Hampshire. He was shown there as Hiram in 1860 and 1870 and gone by 1880.

He was born in Leavenworth, Leavenworth County Kansas and was with his folks in 1880. In 1900, the family was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as were his parents. They are in Burbank California in 1930. The son Robert will remain here until he dies June 17, 1949.

They were here back in 1880 and here ever since. He is now 65 MA, Mary E. Turnbull his wife is 62 IL, Irving L. 37 MN, Edith E. 38 MN and Roy W. 32 MN. The George in St. Paul may be his eldest son. He is a son of Lorenzo and Mary H. Putnam. He is Lorenzo Junior, and was born in Becket, Berkshire County Massachusetts. He will die here in Minneapolis March 23, 1924. Mary is widowed in 1930 and Edith is still unmarried and living with her.

Robert Senior was a son of Alpheus George Putnam, who was a son of George Washington Putnam II and grandson of the elder George Washington who was a son of Israel Putnam II and Sarah Waldo of Pomfret, Connecticut.

He states his folks are Israel Putman and Lydia Armstrong from Pennsylvania. He is married there in 1930 and says his dad is from England, mom from Michigan. He is also presently alone in Trail County North Dakota where his wife Myrtle is from. He will die here in Hennepin County September 21, 1935. Pretty sure Israel was the son of Pliney and Martha Putnam as shown in the 1857 census of Rice County Minnesota. He and his folks were from Pennsylvania and Stephen was born in Minnesota.

The family then moved to South Dakota and his dad Hosea Ballou Putnam died there in 1894. I don’t find the family there in 1900 however. His uncle Kitterage Putnam was there though. He is 38 WI, Helen 26 MN, Frances 6 MN and Eugene 1 3/12 MN. He was single in Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin in 1900, and single here in Orono in 1910. Think he is a son of Henry and Mary Putnam from Janesville. He was born in February 1881 so missed the 1880 census by a few months. They are in Minneapolis in 1930.

 

FREDERICK PUTNAM  Hennepin County

He is 32 NE, Olga 33 GER. He is a son of Willis and Anna Putnam (from NY) and was with then in 1900 in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. He and Olga are in St. Paul in 1930.

 

SILAS E. (ELMER) PUTMAN  Hennepin County

He is Pliney Dewey Putnam's son and was at home in Wright County in 1900. He is now 46 MN, Florence Ellis 39 ENG, Norcross W. 7 CAN, Max E. 8 CAN and Cuthbert 5 CAN. He obviously took a little trip across the border before moving back here. He was in Red Deer Alberta in the 1911 census. He will die here April 20, 1949. OBITS has Florence born December 17, 1880 and dying in Minneapolis in July 1966.

 

FRED PUTMAN  Houston County

He is 41 WI and an inmate at the Houston County Almshouse. He looks to be the son of Jacob Putman and Mary Marr of Wautoma, Waushara County, Wisconsin. He was home there in 1880, and in Sayerville, Waukesha County, Wisconsin in 1900, and in Monroe County, Wisconsin in 1910. He never married, and hasn’t been doing too well it seems. Dutch family.

 

LEVI PUTNAM  Park Rapids, Hubbard County

He is 54 NY and lives alone except for a housekeeper. He was here in 1900, see that listing for more info. He is a son of Lewis and Lavinia Putman and was in Olmstead County with them in 1880.

 

ANDREW PUTNAM  Hubbard County

He is 46 MN, Sarah J. 46 CAN. There are two kinfolk, Myrtle A. 16 MN niece and Richard E. 12 MN nephew. These are probably kids of his brother Earnest. He was not here in the 1910 census. The two kids were ‘boarding’ with a Kidd family here in 1910. Andrew is a son of Willard Putnam from NH. He was here in 1900, but was born back in Douglas County. He was single in Beltrami County in 1910, and also listed as single here in 1910 too. Richard will be married in Washington DC in 1930. Andrew is here in 1930 and has his father Willard with him then.

 

ANNA PUTNAM  Deer River, Itasca County

She is 16 MN and boarding with David D. Cameron. In 1900 and 1910, there was a George M. Putnam here who was widowed then. Maybe some connection

 

GEORGIANA PUTNAM  Willmar, Kandiyohi County

She is 38 MN, Hattie 17 MN, May 17 MN. Also there are two nephews, Donald and Harry W. Ottos. She was living with her folks here in 1910. There was an Edward Putnam living alone here in 1900. He was born in Illinois and the kids are listed MN IL MN so it would be him. She and the girls are in Minneapolis in 1930.

EUGENE PUTNAM  International Falls, Koochiching County

He is 42 WI, Ellen 26 MN, and Adeline 2 1/12 MN. He is a son of John Putnam and Julia Adelene Wells. He was born in Auburn, Chippewa County, Wisconsin and was at home there in 1880 and 1900. He was single in St. Louis County in 1905 and here in 1910. They are all in Mason County, Washington in 1930.

 

FRANK E. PUTNAM  Lac qui Parle County

He is 60 IL, and widowed. He has these children, Jennie L. 36 SD, Ernest 28 SD, Carol E. 7 WA. Well, he's been here, done that and all such. He is a son of Kitterage Putnam and was born in Kane County, Illinois in 1859 and was there in 1860. In 1880 he was here in Lac qui Parle County with his dad. In 1900 he and his wife Maggie Hauk were in Grant County, South Dakota. They were back here in 1910. His son Charlie is still back in South Dakota. He will have a new wife and be in Hubbard County in 1930.

 

FLOYD PUTMAN  Eden Valley, Meeker County

He is 31 MN, Rose 39 MN. He is a son of Frank and Hannah Putnam from Otter Tail County. He was at home there in 1910 and will be with Rose in Stearns County in 1930 where he is a dentist.

 

WILLIAM HENRY PUTMAN  Little Falls, Morrison County

He is 52 MN, Minnie Hatch his wife is 47 MN, Goldie 25 MN, William jr. 23 WI, Sidney 20 MN, Ada 18 MN, Leota and Leola twins 14 MN, J. Stanley 11 MN and Mary 8 MN. He is a son of John Elmer, and was in Sherburne County from the time he was born through the 1910 census, except for that short jaunt into Wright County in 1895 and then to Wisconsin for two years. They are here in 1930.

 

WILLIAM PUTMAN  Rochester, Olmsted County

He is 42 MN and rooming with George Eayers. He is Lewis' son and was here with a wife Lillie in 1900 and 1910. They were probably divorced as both she and a son who would be 18 now are gone.

 

MARY PUTMAN  Kalmar, Olmsted County

Mary Carlson is 43 MN, Charles E. 20 MN. She is the widow of Charles Putman and was here in 1900 and 1910 with him. Charles is married here in 1930, but I don’t find Mary.

 

CARRIE B. PUTMAN  Otter Tail County

She is 23 MN and boarding with John Thompson. She is a daughter of Herbert Asa and was at home here in 1900.

 

FRANK S. (SHADRACK) PUTNAM  Otter Tail County

He is 60 MN, Hannah Robinson, his wife, 52 WI, and Birdella L. 22 MN. He is Luman's son and was here in 1900 and 1910. He was born in Wright County.  They are here but living separately in 1930.

 

HERBERT A. (ASA) PUTNAM  Otter Tail County

He is a son of Henry and Caroline Putnam, and was born in Sherburne County. He is now 53 MN, Celia J. Oakes 54 MN, Henry O. 27 MN, Helen 25 MN, Carrie D. 23 MN, Everett H. 20 MN, Alfred T. (Tyler) 18 MN and Kenneth H. 16 MN. Been here since the 1870s. He will die here August 24, 1924.

 

OREN F. PUTNAM  Otter Tail County

He is a son of Frank Putnam and was here at home in 1900. He is 33 MN, Minnie Larson his wife 32 MN, Aileen 3 6/12 MN and Frank J. 1 MN. They are here in 1930 too.

 

SAMUEL T. (TYLER) PUTNAM  Otter Tail County

He is 43 MN, Mary Clow Patelle his wife 42 PA, Dorothy 14 MN, Ruth C. 6 MN, Paul 1/12 MN. His sister Mary A. Putnam 60 MA is with them. He is a son of Henry Putnam and Caroline Newton originally from Sutton, Mass. They were out here in Sherburne County in 1860, Stearns in 1870 and here by 1880. He was here in 1900 with his mother who was by then a widow. They are all here in 1930.

 

WORTHY L. (LUMAN) PUTNAM  Otter Tail County

He is 27 MN, Florence Schreiner, his wife, 27 MN and young Worthy L. Jr. is 2 8/12 MN. He is a son of Frank and Hannah and was born here. He was at home in 1900 and they are all here in 1930.

 

ELIZABETH PUTNAM  Pine County

Elizabeth Bowen is the widow of Charles Henry Putnam. They were in Wright County in 1880 and in Kanabec County in 1900, and she was widowed there in 1910. She is 68 CAN, Frank her son is 34 MN. Dutch family from New York.

 

LEE H. (HOWARD) PUTNAM  Pine County

He is 38 MN, Mary Sell 30 MN, Lawrence 12 MN, Alice E. 10 MN, Agnes 8 MN, Luella 6 MN, Floyd 3 3/12 MN and Leona 11/12 MN. He is a son of Charles Henry Putnam and Elizabeth Bowen. Lee and Mary were in Kanabec County in 1910. Pine and Kanabec Counties abut each other up in the middle of nowhere. OBITS has the son Floyd Emanuel as being born August 6, 1916 and died in Hinckley Minnesota in November 1986.

 

ALTA PUTMAN  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is 16 MN and boarding with Robert J. McVeigh. She is a daughter of Frank P. Putnam. She was at home with them in Todd County and is also listed there now.

 

DAVID R. (RAMSEY) PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 34 OH, Bess Whipple 31 MN and Lucius 6 MN. He is David Ramsey Putnam, son of David E. Putnam and Susan Ramsey and was born in Montgomery Township, Franklin County, Ohio. His family is from Massachusetts. David E. Putnam was a son of Charles Marsh Putnam from Licking County, Ohio. Charles was born in Licking County February 23, 1842. He was a real estate broker in Columbus. He married Addie Elizabeth Wheeler in 1865. She died in 1875, and he married Susan Euphemia Ramsey in New Lisbon, Ohio August 27, 1879. They are here in 1930.

 

DOUGLAS PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He was here in 1900, and is a son of Benjamin Perkins Putnam from Marietta, Ohio. Massachusetts folks. Doug is now 59 OH, Florence Boyd his wife 50 OH. They have just been married 2 years. Late for both of them. They are here in 1930 too.

 

EDWIN C. PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 59 NH, Lillian 52 ENG. He looks like the son of Edwin Putnam and Elvira Murphy as shown in 1870 at home in Keene, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. I don’t find that Edwin again in New Hampshire. May well be him here. Edwin will die here in ST. Paul February 3, 1937.

 

FRANK H. (HIRAM) PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 53 NY, Lena B. 47 MI, Ethel M. 26 MI and Alma 14 MI. He was listed Frank L. in Bay County, Michigan, and Jennie or Lena was there as well. There were a couple of 13 year old Franks in Michigan in 1880, so I won't 'guess the line back' any further. He will die here however on March 21, 1938.

 

G. PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 40 (no state recorded) enumerated with Archie Rockenbach as a boarder. If he is MN, he would be Lorenzo Putnam's son George from Minneapolis.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 32 ND, Hannah Hansen 32 ND and George junior 3 MN, and Margaret 1 7/12 MN. They live with her dad, Peter Hansen. He is a son of Fred S. and Lena Putnam as shown in 1900 in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota. His mother Lena is here in St. Paul as well. She lives with her daughter Bernice. They are in Seattle Washington in 1930.

 

HATTIE B. PUTMAN  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is 21 MN and lodging here. She is a daughter of Frank Putnam of Todd County. She is also listed at home with her folks in Todd County.

 

JENNIE PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is 64 GER. She is the widow of Sumner Putnam and was here in 1900 and 1910. She lives with her daughter Lyda Vogt and her husband Anthony G. Vogt as she was in 1910.

 

JOSEPH L. PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 65 NY, Josephine L. Michand his wife is 51 MN, Pearl 8 MN. Also there is their daughter Myrtle Reed 24 MN and her husband George Reed 32 WI. There is a Beatrice Becker 12 MN listed as great niece (actually granddaughter was with her divorced mother Edna Putnam Becker in 1910). The family was in Minneapolis in 1900 and 1910. He is widowed back across the river there in 1930. He is a son of Hollis and Charlotte Putnam from Montgomery County, New York and then Will County, Illinois. Josephine will die in Minneapolis (probably in a hospital) on September 6, 1926.Dutch folks.

 

JOSEPHINE PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is Josephine Vermilyea 66 NY, and she is the ex-wife of James L. Putnam, and was married in Yellow Medicine County in 1900. She was there in 1910 but divorced at that point. She lives with her daughters Pearl A. 44 MN, and Ruth 34 MN. They are all here in 1930 and she says she is then a widow. Pearl was born August 29, 1875 and will die in Yellow Medicine County January 22, 1963.

 

LENA C. PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

Lena Cochrane is the widow of Frederick S. Putnam. They were in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota in 1900, and she was widowed here in 1905 and 1910. She is 53 VT and her daughter Bernice is 19 ND. There is also a boarder. Her son George also lives here in St. Paul and was listed earlier. Lenna is here in 1930, but Bernice will be in the Minnesota Hospital for the Insane in 1930.

 

LOUISE H. PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is 75 NY and listed as mother in law of Albert A. Pollard. She looks to be Louise Howell, widow of Samuel Porter Putnam, son of Rufus Austin (1329). She and her daughter Grace were in Boston in 1900. Looks as if Grace married and the all came out here together. Neither are in Boston or Massachusetts now at any rate.

 

NORMAN PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 22 KY, Mabel 21 MN. He is a son of Robert E. Lee Putnam of Bell County, Kentucky. He was there in 1900 and 1910. His brother Robert E. Lee, junior is across the river in Minneapolis. The family is originally from Massachusetts, and then settled near Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky in the early 1800s. Robert Senior was a son of Alpheus George Putnam, who was a son of George Washington Putnam II and grandson of the elder George Washington who was a son of Israel Putnam II and Sarah Waldo of Pomfret, Connecticut.

 

ORPHA PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is 23 MN and a 'servant' with Harvey Raymer. She is a daughter of William R. and Annie from Hubbard County. She was at home in 1900 and 1910 in Hubbard County.

 

PEARL PUTMAN  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is 40 MN and her daughter Beth is 9 11/12 MN. They live with Samuel Beck, where Pearl is a maid. In 1930, they are in Washington County Oregon, and Pearl is listed as Pearl Bronson a widow. So She’ll remarry move to Oregon and then get widowed again. Her daughter is still single and with her though.

 

WILLIAM H. PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 17 MN and lodging. Looks like the son of William Rowell Putman from Goodhue County. His folks have moved to Idaho and he is also listed there now. May just be back here visiting or at school.

 

ALICE E. PUTMAN  Morton, Renville County

She is 22 MN and boarding. She is a daughter of Frank E. and Jennie from Faribault County, and was there in 1900.

 

ELMER U. (EUGENE) PUTNAM  Big Lake, Sherburne County

Note the middle initial, the census taker was going to spell Eugene 'Ugene.' Oh well. Any way, he is now 62 MA (should be MN as he was born here), Viola Maude Johnson, his second wife, is 52 MN, Lester R. 19 MN, Bert L. 17 MN and Daisy L. 14 MN. He is a son of John Elmer Putnam and Nancy Merriman from Sutton, Massachusetts.

 

JULIAN N. PUTNAM  Big Lake, Sherburne County

Eugene Elmer's son was born here and was at home in 1900. He is 35 MN, Emma M. Johnson 23 MN, Julia 2 MN and Raymond 5/12 MN. They are in Anoka County in 1930 where he’ll be working for the steam railway system.

 

FAYETTE PUTNAM  Sherburne County

He is Henry Fayette Putnam 33 MN, Flora Belair his wife is 31 MN, Helen 8 MN, Ruthie 6 MN and John E. 3 8/12 MN. He is a son of George Fayette Putnam and Mary Drew. He was born right here. His folks are now in Oregon, and he will be there himself, widowed, in 1930.

 

HARVEY H. PUTMAN  Duluth, St. Louis County

He is 22 NE IL MI and boarding in an unnamed hotel. He is a son of William Herbert Putnam. He was born in Plum Creek, Wayne County, Nebraska, and was there with his folks in 1900. He will be briefly married to Evelyn Jones and then to Blanche Lang in 1925. They are married here in 1930.

 

MARY M. PUTMAN  Duluth, St. Louis County

She is Mary M. O’Hearn the widow of William from NY and was here with him in 1900 and 1910. She is now 55 WI, Willis A. 30 ND, Arnold E. 18 MN and Harold C. 15 MN.

 

W. H. (WILLIAM HENRY) PUTMAN  Duluth, St. Louis County

He is 55 MI, Frances Josephine Curry his wife 54 WI. He is a son of Abraham and Mary Blazier Putman from Ingham County Michigan. He was home there in 1870 and 1880. In 1900 he was married in Jackson County Wisconsin. In 1910 they were in Barron County Wisconsin and are here in Duluth in 1930.

 

WILLIAM F. PUTMAN  Holding, Stearns County

He is 23 WI and lives alone. This looks like a dual listing for the son of William Henry Putnam and Minnie Hatch and is listed also with them in Little Falls, Morrison County. The family was from Sherburne County, but he was born when the folks were in Wright County, Wisconsin for a few years.

 

AYERS PUTNAM  St. Cloud, Stearns County

He is 18 MN. Ayers Bowen is a son of Hollis Chester Putnam and Margaret Edith Ayers and was born here in Minnesota April 23, 1902 and will die here June 13, 1963.

 

HOLLIS C. (CHESTER) PUTNAM  St. Cloud, Stearns County

He is 45 MN, Marguerite Edith Ayers is 40 MN, Ayers 17 MN, Marguerite 15 MN, Hollis (Hollis Dwight) 14 MN, Dorothy 9 MN and Harriett 4 5/12 MN. He is a son of Charles Henry Putnam and Elizabeth Bowen from Wright County. They were here in 1905 are still in 1930. Hollis works for the State Reformatory here. OBITS has the son Hollis being born July 24, 1905 and died in St. Cloud in October 1986.

 

ARTHUR PUTNAM  Stearns County

He was in Minneapolis in 1900 and in Wright County in 1910. He is now 63 MA, Jennie 54 NY, Arthur A. 29 MN and Benjamin 25 MN. He is a son of Lorenzo and Mary Putnam (also here in Minneapolis). He was born in Becket, Massachusetts. I can’t find him in 1930, but he will be here until he dies July 13, 1940.

 

FRED R. PUTNAM  Morris, Stevens County

He is 52 IA, Eva W. 50 IA and Paul W. 22 IA. They were in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa in 1900 and here in 1905 and 1910. He is a son of William Rodman Putnam and his second wife Martha, and was born in Hardin County, Iowa. His dad is from Connecticut but went to New York and married before coming to Iowa. They are here in 1930 too.

 

FRANK P. PUTNAM  Eagle Bend, Todd County

They were here in 1900 and 1910. He is now 54 IL, Sadie 40 MN, Hattie 21 MN, George 19 MN, Arthur 17 MN, Alta 15 MN and Yvette 10 MN. They will be divorced soon and he will be in St. Paul with his married daughter Hattie. He is a son of Marvin K. Putnam and Ann Gennette Wheeler from Winnebago County, Illinois. Marvin was a son of John Wellington Putnam and Minerva Scott from New York and then here in Winnebago County. Marvin died there March 25, 1866. His widow ‘Hettie’ married Seymour Barker in 1868 and Frank was with them in Winnebago County in 1870 and Freeborn County Minnesota in 1880. They were here in 1900, 1905 and are still in 1920. They are divorced by 1930 and Frank and his daughter Hattie are in St. Paul.

 

CHARLES P. PUTNAM  Tintah, Traverse County

He is 25 MN, Ethel Henrietta Greenfield 26 MN and Doris 1 8/12 MN. He is a son of Parker and Ida Putnam and was at home here in 1900. I don’t find any of them anywhere in 1930.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Tintah, Traverse County

He is 44 NH, Jennie Johnson, his second wife, is 29 NOR (Bergen, Norway), Walter 21 MN, Ida 9MN and Louise 7 MN. He was in Stutsman County, North Dakota in 1900 with his first wife Jennie Olson, and here in 1910 with Jennie number two. He is a son of Parker Putnam who was here then and is still here now. Traverse County is right on the border of both Dakotas.

 

HIRAM PUTNAM  Tintah, Traverse County

He was here in 1900, and is a brother of Parker. He is now 63 NH and widowed. His mother in law, Delia Williams 78 VT is with him now. Also there are three hired hands. It also looks like he might have a dual listing in Minneapolis as well. Kinda interesting.

 

PARKER A. (ALONZO) PUTNAM  Tintah, Traverse County

He was here in 1900. He is now 67 NH and widowed. His daughter Bessie Smith 39 NH and her son Merton or Morton Smith 12 WA are with him

 

A. Z. (ALVERS ZEBRINA) PUTNAM  Minneiska, Wabasha County

He's been here since the 1850s. He is now the senior Putnam/Putman in the state at age 90 NY. His widowed daughter Flora P. Kalding 69 NY is still living at home. He will die here November 26, 1923.

 

EDGAR W. (WORTHY) PUTNAM  Elgin Township, Wabasha County

He is a son of Charles Putnam and Harriet Irwin from Winona County. He is 45 MN, Lelia M. Crawford, his wife, 35 MN, Arva M. 11 MN, Ray E. 10 MN, Hawley R. 7 MN, Leslie M. a son 6 MN. Edgar married Lelia August 14, 1907 here in Wabasha County. They were here in 1910 and will be in 1930.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Wabasha County

He is 36 MN, and has his sister, Myrtle 28 MN, and mother Rose Stadler Putnam 55 MN with him. His dad was William Washington Putnam. He was born here. His folks were here in 1900, and his widowed mother was with him in 1910.

 

GRACE E. PUTMAN  Wadena County

She is 32 CAN and boarding with a John Williams.

 

EARL L. PUTNAM  Winona, Winona County

He is 37 MN, Addie B. Whitlock his wife 33 MN, Harold W. 12 MN and Belva J. a daughter 10 MN. He is a son of the following Charles and Harriet. He was born here and they are in 1930 too.

 

HERBERT PUTNAM  Winona, Winona County

He is a son of Charles and Harriet from here. He is 28 MN, Lulu Waldo his wife is 23 MN. Also there are Mary Waldo 45 MN (lulu's mom) and Dora Ginther 76 SWT listed as grandmother. Also there are a couple of boarders.

 

CHARLES J. PUTNAM  Winona County

Pliny's son has been here since the 1870s. He is now 78 NY, Harriet A. Irwin 67 IN. He will die here January 3, 1928. He is a son of Pliny Putnam and Flora Egerton from Arkwright, Chautauqua County New York and Winchendon Massachusetts before that. Charles was born in Arkwright, New York October 17, 1842 and will die here January 3, 1928. Charles and Harriet were married here in September 1871.

 

WALLACE C. (CHARLES) PUTNAM  Winona County

He is 33 ND, Grace M. Gage 32 MN, Douglas D. 11 MN, twins Harry C. and Harold W. are 1 11/12 MN. He is Wallace Charles Putnam born October 7, 1886 and will die here August 12, 1966. They were just married here in 1910 and are here in Whitewater in 1930. He is a son of William Washington Putnam and Rose Stadler from Wabasha County. His family went briefly (1884-86) to North Dakota where Wallace was born. They were all back here in Wabasha County by 1887, and here for the 1900 census. Grace was born December 4, 1887 and will die in Wabasha County July 19, 1968.

 

 

MINNESOTA 1930 CENSUS

 

JULIAN PUTNAM  Anoka, Anoka County

He is 45 MN NY US and works for the railroad. His wife Emma Margaret Johnson is 34 MN and they have Julie 12, Raymond 10, Louise 8, Lowell 6, Merrill 5 and Willard 3 all MN. He is a son of Eugene Elmer Putman and Viola Johnson from Big Lake Sherburne County. He has been there through the 1920 and recently moved over here. He was born March 15, 1885 and will die in St. Paul (at a hospital) on December 15, 1958. Emma was born April 3, 1896 and will die here in Anoka on October 16, 1977. The son Lowell Martin Putnam was born in Big Lake October 21, 1923 and came here with his folks in 1928. He flew airplanes for the Navy in WWII. He married Eleanor Andrews of Anoka in 1949. He died at a nursing home in St. Cloud March 15, 2009 and Eleanor was still alive at the time.

 

FRANK H. (HARWOOD) PUTNAM  Federal Dam, Cass County

He is 61 MA MA MA and the Village Postmaster. His wife Jennie is 63 SWED, and they have Louisa M. 17 MN. Jennie is his second wife and I think her name is Erickson. He is Frank Harwood Putnam, born February 1, 1869 in Sutton, Mass. He is a son of Peter Holland and Harriet Augusta Putnam. He was in Duluth, St. Louis County single in 1900, and married here in 1910 and 1920. Frank will die here May 29, 1947.

 

WALTER N. PUTNAM  Trelipe, Cass County

He is 18 WI CAN MN and lives with his mother Laura Hill 36 MN and his stepfather Gustav Bliesner as he did in 1920 in Crow Wing County. Laura was married to Percival Putnam from Canada in Bayfield County Wisconsin in 1910. They were divorced as he was in Douglas County Wisconsin in 1920 with another wife Bertha who is widowed now in 1930 back there. These folks are in Cass County in 1930. OBITS has Walter born February 6, 1912 and died in Pine River Crow Wing County April 16, 1977.

He is 73 VT VT VT and his wife Jennie Rector is 62 NY. He is still a lawyer. Frank Eddy Putnam is a son of John Henry Putnam (2825) and Alice Augusta Eddy. John Henry was a son of Asher Putnam number 1271. He was a State Senator here in the 1910 time range. He will die here July 6, 1944.

 

RECTOR PUTNAM  Blue Earth, Faribault County

Harold Rector or Rector Harold Putnam is a son of Frank Eddy Putnam and Jennie Rector from here. He is now 35 MN VT NY and his wife of 3 years Esther G. is 34 MN. He is an attorney at law just like his dad. Probably works for him. OBITS has him born September 3, 1894 and died in Blue Earth in March 1984.

He is 51 IL MA MA and a farmer. His wife Sina Jones is 62 MN NORWAY and Herbert M. 18 IL. He is a son of Horace Thomas Putnam and was born in Chicago. Horace was a son of James M. and Elizabeth Putnam from Ludlow, Massachusetts. They were here in 1920. OBITS has his birth as October 2, 1878 and death as December 30, 1964 here in Faribault County.

He is 37 MN MN MN and is a County Agent. His wife Hazel Bacon is 34 NE and they have Mary C. 3 SD and Herbert B. 2 CA. He is a son of Herbert Asa Putnam and Celia Oakes from Otter Tail County. He was home there in 1920 and all over in the past nine years that they have been married.

 

ROBERT W. (WILLIAM) PUTNAM  Red Wing, Goodhue County

He is 49 MN MA MN and lists himself as a bank president like his dad. Being younger he probably runs the place. His wife Winifred Lewis is 40 MN and they have Marjorie and her twin Robert Lee both 17 MN. He is a son of William Herrick Putnam and his first wife Adeline Rowele. He will be here until he dies in 1967. Robert Lee was born May 26, 1912 and will die in Hennepin County June 29, 1979.

He is 82 MA MA MA and the president of a bank. His wife Nellie L. Butts is 69 NY. He is number 3193, son of William Richardson Putnam number 1542. He married Nellie here on July 10, 1894. His first wife Adeline Rowele had died in 1890. He will die here on November 26, 1935 and Nellie on December 14, 1943.

He is 64 IL NY VT and his wife Harriet Miller is 60 IL. He is a salesman for cash registers. He is a son of Parker Putnam and Laura Austin of Peoria County, Illinois. He was home there in 1880 and was in Peoria in 1900 with Hattie and the first two children, and here in 1910 as was his widowed mother.

They have been in Orono, Hennepin County in 1920 and he was single there in 1910. He was single in Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin in 1900. Think he is a son of Henry and Mary Putnam from Janesville. He was born in February 1881 so missed the 1880 census by a few months.

 

FRED W. (WARREN) PUTNAM  Minneapolis, Hennepin County

He is 45 MN MA NH and is a lawyer. His wife Margaret Bunting is 41 VA and they now have Margaret D. 15, Mary P. 14, Frederick W. Jr. 12, Grace A. 10, Eleanor L. 7 and Elizabeth 3 all MN. He is a son of William Herrick Putnam and Adeline Rowle, and was at home in Goodhue County in 1900 and marred there in 1920. His dad was a bank president and now his brother Robert has the job back there. Frederick will die here September 25, 1954. Fred Jr. was born June 17, 1917 and died in Edina Minnesota June 7, 2007. He married Helen Prouse and became a Bishop in the Episcopal Church and remained one until his death.

In 1910 she and the girls were living with her folks the Hansons in Kandiyohi County and they were there still in 1920. There was an Edward Putnam born in Illinois living alone there in 1900. She must have married him and then he died or took off on them. She hasn’t tried it again. The girls are office workers in a road building machinery company. Edward was from the New York Dutch line.

Also here is his sister Minnie (Myrtle) Reeves (Reed in 1920) and a niece Beatrice Lamora who is the daughter of his widowed sister Edna. He is a son of Joseph L. and Josephine Putman from here. He was here with the folks in 1910 and then in 1920 the folks were in St. Paul and I don’t find him then. The son Lyle was born January 31, 1925 and will die here in Hennepin County October 10, 1968. He is 73 PA VT PA and his wife Frances Callie Frost is 49 VA. He’s retired now but he ran a saloon called ‘Put’s Bar’ for years. He is a son of George and Rebecca Putnam. He was in McKean County, Pennsylvania in 1860 and in Warren County, Pennsylvania in 1870 with his then widowed mother Rebecca Rider Putnam. By 1880 he was back in McKean County. He and Callie are here in 1910 and 1920. His dad George is a son of George Putnam (1182) and Salina Thayer of Washington County, Vermont and then by 1850 in Jay, Essex County, NY. They have been here since the 1890s.

 

RICHARD A. PUTNAM  Minneapolis, Hennepin County

He is 36 IL IL IL and his wife Florence De Montreville is 36 MN. They have been married 8 years. In 1920 he was with his folks in Excelsior, Hennepin County. He is a son of Frank Hiram Putnam and Hattie Miller originally from Peoria, Illinois where Richard was born. Family has been here since the early 1900s though. His folks are still in Excelsior. He was born October 26, 1893 and will die in Austin, Hennepin County on January 21, 1955. There is a death certificate for Florence in Lamar, Missouri. It states her folks as Clarence De Montreville and Alice Leppen and she was born in St. Paul, Minnesota March 6, 1893. She was divorced at the time of her death. She was killed in an automobile collision on Route 71 in Lamar on December 2, 1936. Her folks were living in St. Louis, and she may have been going there to see them.

 

ROY W. (WARREN) PUTNAM  Minneapolis, Hennepin County

He is 42 MN MA MN and a decorator for a contractor. His wife Ethel Irene Temple is 37 WI and they have Dorothy 8 MN and Marian 6 MN. They were married in April 1920, but he was single and living with his folks in 1920 when the census was taken in January. He is a son of Lorenzo and Mary Putnam from here in Minneapolis and Becket, Massachusetts before that. He was born here in Minneapolis on April 14, 1888 and he will die here January 29, 1932. Ethel is a daughter of James Temple and Susan Sanderson. She was born June 4, 1893 in Cambria, Wisconsin and will die here July 16, 1953.

 

WILLIAM E. (EDWARD) PUTNAM  Minneapolis, Hennepin County

He is 50 SD VT IN and is a conductor on the railroad for the Pulman Company. Those were the cars that had sleeping compartments. Being a Pulman porter was reserved for blacks and the service was great. Conductors were of course whites. I remember going Pulman when we moved from Illinois to Connecticut in the early 1940s and we were really catered to. You had exclusive rights to the dining room car and it was kinda like being in a hotel that was long and thin. Anyway, his wife Alma Emma Buisson is 39 MN (they were married later in life) and Josephine is 9 MN. Her mother Mary Buisson 76 and her sister Angeline Etta 52 are still with them as they were in 1920. He is a son of Hosea Ballou Putnam and Matilda Dunhill. He is William Edward Putnam, and was in Lac Qui Parle County with his folks in 1880. The family then moved to South Dakota and his dad Hosea Ballou Putnam died there in 1894. I don’t find the family there in 1900 however. His uncle Kitterage Putnam was there though. They were here in 1920. William will die in Wright County September 23, 1951.

 

WILLIAM G. (GORDON) PUTMAN  Minneapolis, Hennepin County

He is 29 MN NY NOR and his wife Theresa is 26 IA. He is a laborer at odd jobs. He is a son of William Russell Putnam and Anna Stevenson from White Oak, Hubbard County. He was born May 23, 1901 and will die here January 20, 1963.

 

FRANK E. (ERNEST) PUTNAM  Hubbard, Hubbard County

He is 69 IL VT IL. His new wife Nellie is 45 MN and she has three kids from an earlier marriage. Stanley 21, Clifford 19 and Rachel 17 named Scully and born MN. He is a son of Kitterage Putnam and was born in Kane County, Illinois in 1859 and was there in 1860. In 1880 he was in Lac qui Parle County with his dad. In 1900 he and his first wife Maggie Hauk were in Grant County, South Dakota. They were back there in 1910. Frank was widowed in Lac qui Parle County in 1920. He is a farmer, and will be here until he dies March 24, 1934.

 

A. (ANDREW) N. (NEWTON) PUTNAM  Rockwood, Hubbard County

He is 56 MN NH WI and owns a farm. His wife Sarah J. is 56 CAN. Also here is his father W. J. (Willard James) Putnam 79 NH who says he is single. Willard was first in Douglas County in 1880, but I can’t place him back in New Hampshire. Andrew was born there and was here since. Willard has been in Montana for the past 20 or so years. Andrew will be here till he dies December 5, 1943. Willard will die here February 3, 1941.

 

LEVI PUTNAM  Todd, Hubbard County

He is 69 NY NY NY and still single and boarding. He works for a logging company. He is a son of Lewis and Lavinia Putman and was in Olmstead County with them in 1880. He has been here since the 1895.

 

SOLON H. PUTNAM  Todd, Hubbard County

He is 69 NY NY NY and his wife Louisa K. Hood is 69 PA. He has been in South Dakota since the 1880s. His wife Julia died there about 1921 or so and he married Louisa out there August 22, 1923. Solon will die in Otter Tail County September 9, 1953. He is a son of Lovell Kimball Putnam and Almira Smith from Peru, Clinton County New York. Lovell was a son of Archelaus Putnam and Deborah Kimball from there and Vermont before that.

 

ERNEST H. (HILTON) PUTNAM  Walter, Lac Qui Parle County

He is 38 SD IL MN. Louise his wife of almost 10 years is 29 MN AUSTRIA, and they have Viola C. 8 MN and Dolores M. 7 MN. He is a son of Frank Putman and was here with him in 1920. Ernest will die here December 26, 1940,

 

FRANCIS D. (DELBERT) PUTMAN  Elm Creek, Martin County

He is 29 IA IA MO and is a farmer. He says he is married for a year, but is by himself now. He is a son of Francis Ashbury Putnam and Clara Harrington from Pochahontas County Iowa. He was still home there in 1920.

 

WILLIAM PUTNAM  Little Falls, Morrison County

He is 63 MN MA MA. His wife Minnie Hatch is 58 MN Leota 24 MN and Mary 19 MN. He is a son of John Elmer, and was in Sherburne County from the time he was born through the 1910 census and then here by 1920.

 

NILES C. (CURTIS) PUTMAN  Lyle, Mower County

He is 50 IA ME PA and his wife Edna M. Cobb is 53 IA. He handles the mail sorting for the railroad. They live with her folks Willis and Abbie Cobb. Edna was born October 14, 1876 and will die August 10, 1971. He is a son of George Putnam and Adelia Medbury from Linn County Iowa. He and Edna were in Steele County Minnesota in 1905 and in Winneshiek County Iowa in 1920 and then back here now. Niles will die here October 17, 1954.

 

BERNICE PUTNAM  St. Peter, Nicollet County

She is 30 ND NY VT and is a patient in the Minnesota Hospital for the Insane. She is a daughter of Frederick and Lena Putnam from St. Paul. She was with her widowed mother there in 1920. She is also listed with her mother now too.

 

EDWARD PUTMAN  Winchester, Norman County

He is 40 SD GER GER. His wife Ellen Rachel Partlow is 36 MN and they have Ralph 17 ND, Glen Howard 8 SD. They were married in James, North Dakota December 2, 1911. A relative says that on July 28, 1937 in Moline, Illinois Ed shot and killed his wife and then shot and killed himself. There was a note “She was shot by her husband, Ed Putnam, who then shot himself. He had been drinking. Ellen had a restraining order saying he was not to come near the house because he had been abusive in the past. He broke in through the basement and shot her.” I don’t know his folks except his mother’s name was Bachila. I found his WWI Draft Registration card. It states he was born in Watertown, Codington County, South Dakota on November 15, 1888. At the time he was 28 so the card was filed in 1917 and he then lived in Kensal, North Dakota. He had a farm in Kensal, Stutsman County with a wife and one son. They were in the North Dakota 1915 and 1925 Censuses. I can’t find them in 1920 yet. The son Ralph was born July 6, 1912 and will die in Moline, Illinois June 2, 1988. Glenn Howard was born in South Dakota August 13, 1922 and will die in Shreveport, Louisiana August 11, 1972. He married Florence Jacobs.

 

CHARLES E. PUTMAN  Kalmar, Olmsted County

He is 29 MN MN MN. His wife Loretta Helen is 25 MN. He owns a farm, probably the one his dad had here. He is a son of Charles Putman and Mary Carlson and was born here. He was with his widowed mother here in 1920. He was born September 28, 1900, and will be here till he dies December 21, 1972. Loretta will die here herself September 20, 1986.

She is 20 MN US US and single. She is a daughter of Louis Franklin Putnam from Minneapolis. She’s been at home up till now.

He is 19 MN MN MN single and works on a farm. He should be the son of Edgar Putnam and Lelia Crawford from Wabasha County.

 

ALFRED T.(TYLER) PUTNAM  Amor, Otter Tail County

He is 28 MN MN MN. His brother Kenneth E. (Ellery) is 26 MN MN MN and his sister Helen is 35 MN MN MN. They are all children of Herbert Asa Putnam and Celia Oakes from here. The two sons own the farm now. Alfred will be here until he dies December 3, 1952.

 

TYLER S. (SAMUEL) PUTNAM  Amor, Otter Tail County

He is 53 MN MA MA. Mary Clow Patelle his wife is 52 PA and they have Ruth 16 MN, Paul N. 10. Also here is his sister Mary Ann 72 MN and still single. He owns a dairy farm. He is a son of Henry Putnam and Caroline Newton originally from Sutton, Mass. He was here in 1900 with his mother who was by then a widow and has been married here ever since. Mary was born November 13, 1877 and will die here in Amor May 5, 1956.

 

WORTHY PUTNAM  Pelican, Otter Tail County

He is 37 MN MN WI and owns a farm. His wife Florence Schreiner is 37 MN and they have Worthy Luman Jr. 13 MN, Lois R. 9 MN and Beth F. 3 MN. He is a son of Frank Putnam and Hannah Robinson and was born here. Worthy will die here June 21, 1954.

He is 71 MN NY NY and lives by himself. He says he is married, and his wife Hannah Robinson is now living with their son Oren Putnam. Frank is a son of Luman Putnam and was born here.

He is 43 MN MN WI and is a farmer. His wife Minnie M. Larson is 42 MN, Aileen L. 13 MN and Frank S. 11 MN. Also here is his mother Hannah 63 WI. Hannah Robinson is the wife of Frank Putnam from here. She says she is married, but Frank is living back home by himself. Oren was born here. His dad was from Wright County.

 

H. (HOWARD) LEE PUTNAM  Arlone, Pine County

He is 49 MN MN MN and owns his farm. His wife Mary Sell is 40 MN and they now have Alice E. 21, Agnes H. 18, Luella M. 15, Floyd E. 13, Leona E. (Eileen) 11, Lester R. (Russell) 9, Eugene H. 6 and Florence E. 3 all MN. He is a son of Charles Henry Putnam and Elizabeth Bowen. Lee and Mary were in Kanabec County in 1910 and here in 1920. Pine and Kanabec Counties abut each other up in the middle of nowhere. Dutch family. OBITS has the son Lester born March 31, 1911 and died October 17, 1997. Floyd E. will die in Meeker County December 16, 1950.

He is 44 MN NY CAN. He is still living with his widowed mother Elizabeth 78 CAN. Elizabeth Bowen is the widow of Charles Henry Putnam. They were in Wright County in 1880 and in Kanabec County in 1900, and she was widowed there in 1910 and here in 1920. Frank is a farmer. Dutch family.

She is 43 MN MN MN and still single. She is a public school teacher. She is a daughter of George Putnam from Minneapolis. She was born November 25, 1886 and will die in Minneapolis in July 1968. She never married.

He is 63 NH NH NH and is a traveling salesman for glassware. His wife Amelia is 47 CAN. She will die here February 24, 1937.

 

CHARLES H. (HENRY) PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 61 MA MA MA and his wife Mary Barnard Clark is 58 MA MA MA. He is a car builder for the railroad. Doing okay I guess as he has a maid and a cook. He is a son of Henry Osmere Putnam and Sarah Ann Smith. He was born in Fitchburg. He married Mary in St. Paul in 1901, and they were in Spokane, Washington in 1910 and 1920. He will die in St. Paul in 1948. He and Mary took a boat trip down the River to New Orleans in 1939. Record says he was born in Fitchburg September 14, 1868 and Mary was born in Dorchester (part of Boston) August 20, 1871. They also took a boat to Bermuda in October 1933. At that time they lived at 467 Holly Avenue in St. Paul.

 

DAISY F. (FREDERICK) PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is 58 IN IN IN and widowed. Her son George Force Putnam is 26 IN and single. They live with her unmarried sister Shirley B. Frederick 57 IN. Daisy was married to Charles Walter Putnam in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1910 and 1920. They were married in Indiana January 5, 1899 and in Floyd County Indiana in the 1900 census. Charles died in Iowa January 17, 1923. Daisy was born December 21, 1871 and will die in Omaha, Nebraska January 14, 1964. Her son George Force will marry Gail Bidleman and they will later be in Boston, Massavhusetts. Her stepson John Stroud Putnam is now married in Denver, Colorado. He was a son of Charles and his first wife Dora Stroud.

 

DAVID R. (RAMSEY) PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 43 OH OH OH and assistant superintendent of the General Electric Power Company. His wife Bess Whipple is 41 MN and they have Lucius W. 16 MN, David R. 9 MN and John Douglas 5 MN. OBITS has the son Lucius born June 19, 1913 and died here in St. Paul July 15, 1993.

He is 69 OH OH WV and his wife Florence Boyd is 61 OH. He is treasurer for a corporation. She will die here September 16, 1938.

 

FRANK PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 64 IL IL WI and divorced. He lives with his married daughter Hattie 31 MN and her husband Thomas Nielson 36 MN. He is a son of Marvin K. Putnam and Ann Gennette Wheeler from Winnebago County, Illinois. Marvin was a son of John Wellington Putnam and Minerva Scott from New York and then here in Winnebago County. Marvin died there March 25, 1866. His widow ‘Hettie’ married Seymour Barker in 1868 and Frank was with them in Winnebago County in 1870 and Freeborn County Minnesota in 1880. Frank and his wife Sadie were here in 1900 through 1920. He will be here until he dies in 1942.

 

FRANK D. (DANIEL) PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 54 MN MA MN and is manager of a wholesale furniture firm. His wife Marie C. Jorgenson is 48 MN and they have Katherine E. 19, Adeline N. 16, Ruth C. 13 and Susanne 12 all MN. He is a son of William Herrick Putnam and his first wife Adeline Rowle from Red Wing Goodhue County. He was there in 1900 through 1920.

 

FRED A. PUTMAN  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 41 NE US US and his wife Olga is 42 GERMANY. He is assistant manager of the Public Works Department. He is a son of Willis and Anna Putnam (from NY) and was with then in 1900 in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. He and Olga were just outside Minneapolis in 1920. OBITS has his birth as July 18, 1887 and death here in St. Paul on October 15, 1967. Olga was born April 7, 1886 and will die here in St. Paul May 15, 1968.

 

GEORGE A. (AUGUSTINE) PUTMAN  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 77 MA MA MA and widowed. He is listed as an uncle of Charles Joy and his sister Lillian Joy from New Hampshire. He is George Augustine Putnam a son of Philander Putnam and Harriet Prentice from Worcester Massachusetts. He was born in Northbridge June 7, 1852. Philander is number 2177, a son of Cyrus Putnam (921) and Lucinda Hathaway of Sutton. He was married to Anna Mary Joy but she obviously died. They were in Worcester, Massachusetts from the 1890s through 1920. George will die here June 23, 1931.

 

GEORGE F. (FREDERICK) PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 38 MN NH NH and he runs a retail refrigerator store. His wife Hazel is 37 ND and they have George 15 MN, Robert 13 ND, and Hazel L. 9 MN. He is a son of Hiram Putnam and Winnie Williams from Traverse County. He was there in 1900 and in 1910, and in Richland County North Dakota in 1920. The son George will begin a career in broadcasting here in 1934 and go on to be a news anchor in Los Angeles television for many many years.

He and his wife Sarah are Russian. The name looks like Rutman or something.

 

ISRAEL PUTMAN  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 42 WI WI WI and a single Negro. He is a barber. He will die here September 24, 1944.

 

JOSEPHINE PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is 76 NY and now says she is widowed, but was divorced in1910. Anyway, she still has Pearl 54 and Ruth 44. She is Josephine Vermilyea 66 NY, and she is the ex-wife of James L. Putnam, and was married in Yellow Medicine County in 1900. She was there in 1910 but divorced at that point. Ruth was born May 22, 1885 and will die here February 15, 1969. She never married. Pearl will die here November 25, 1952.

 

LENNA PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

She is 58 VT and still widowed. Her daughter Bernice 28 ND is listed with her but is also listed as a patient at the Minnesota Hospital for the Insane now. Lenna is the widow of Frederick S. Putnam. They were in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota in 1900, and she was widowed here in 1910 and 1920.

 

SIDNEY W. PUTNAM  St. Paul, Ramsey County

He is 30 MN MN MN and a salesman for a wholesale bakery. His wife of 8 years Mina Adams is 31 MN and they have John A. 7, Jane M. 5, Robert A. 4 and Richard L. 1 6/12 all MN. He is a son of William Henry Putnam and has been at home in Morrison County up till now. OBITS says he was born June 28, 1899 and died in Red Wing Minnesota in September 1967. The son Richard Lloyd was born September 12, 1928 and will be here till he dies December 3, 1997. The son Robert Adams was born December 22, 1926 and will die in Hennepin County February 22, 1985.

 

CHARLIE PUTNAM  Northfield, Rice County

He is 65 MA MA MA and single. He lives in the Minnesota Odd Fellows Home. There is a record of an Appleton C. Putnam dying here June 6, 1936. I’ll bet it’s the same guy and connected to Charles Appleton Putnam from Salem Massachusetts.

 

EUGENE E. (ELMER) PUTNAM  Big Lake, Sherburne County

He is 72 MN MA MA and his wife Viola Maude Johnson is 63 MN and Bert L. 27 MN. He is the local Postmaster. He is a son of John Elmer Putnam and Nancy Merriman from Sutton, Massachusetts. He was born right here, and will die here later this year on November 21, 1930. Viola will be here until she dies December 1, 1848.

 

EDWIN I. (IRWIN) PUTNAM  Duluth, St. Louis County

He is 23 MN IL MI. He is single and works in a steel plant. He is a son of William Herbert Putnam and Laura Christine Larson. In 1900, the family was in Wayne County Nebraska and in 1910 and 1920 in Douglas County Wisconsin. His brother Floyd is listed next. New England family. OBITS has Edwin born September 24, 1906 and died in Duluth in June 1983.

 

FLOYD A. (ARTHUR) PUTNAM  Duluth, St. Louis County

He is 27 NE IL MI. His wife Ethel Mae Turner is 23 MI. They were married here August 28, 1929. He is a truck driver for a lumber company. See the above listing for his brother Edwin. Floyd was born September 22, 1902, and will be around until he dies here on February 9, 1975.

 

FRANK E. PUTMAN  Duluth, St. Louis County

He is 44 WI WI WI and a merchandise salesman. His wife Mabel H. is 23 MI and they have been married 6 years. They have Francis Jr. 5 MN, Viola M. 3 MN and Marjorie I. 1 MN. I would guess he is the guy who has been single in Chippewa County, Wisconsin in 1900 and 1910 with his widowed mother Clara, and gone someplace in 1920. OBITS has his birth as May 30, 1885 and death in Mora Minnesota in April 1966.

 

HARVEY H. (HERBERT) PUTNAM  Duluth, St. Louis County

He is 32 NE NE MI. His wife Blanche C. Lang is 22 MN and they have Harvey H. Jr. 3 MN. He was single here in 1920 and has been married a little over 4 years now. He is a son of William Herbert Putnam and Laura Christine Larsen. He was born in Plum Creek, Wayne County, Nebraska, and was there with his folks in 1900 and 1910. He married Blanche June 24, 1924. He was married to Evelyn Jones sometime in the early 1920s. He was born November 27, 1897 and will be here in Duluth till he dies July 12, 1973.

 

WILLIAM H. (HENRY) PUTNAM  Duluth, St. Louis County

He is 62 MI PA NY. His wife Frances Curry is 60 WI. He is an agent for the railroad. He is a son of Abraham and Mary Putman from Ingham County Michigan. He was home there in 1870 and 1880. In 1900 he was married in Jackson County Wisconsin. In 1910 they were in Barron County Wisconsin and here in Duluth in 1920. Frances will die here December 10,1931. William will later go out to Washington and be near his son Daniel. He will die there at age 94 on November 25, 1959 in Spokane, Washington. His son Daniel is out there now.

 

CLEMENT PUTMAN  Stuntz, St. Louis County

He is 56 MI MI MI and his wife whose name looks like Hartsmith or Hartinth is 51 AR. In fact I am not sure exactly what his first name is either. State records have him being married first to Agnes Murray who died here in the County March 30, 1908. They had two sons Francis Joseph born October 23, 1903 and William James born December 1, 1904. He and Agnes and those kids were in Duluth in the State 1905, but haven’t seen him since. Clem will die here January 1, 1942, probably earlier but had to wait out the holidays to record.

 

FLOYD PUTNAM  Eden Valley, Stearns County

He is 41 MN MN WI. Rose his wife of 10 years is 46 MN. He is a dentist. He is a son of Frank Putnam and Hannah Robinson from Otter Tail County. He was there in 1910 and married in Meeker County in 1920. He will die in Meeker County December 16, 1950.

 

BEN PUTMAN  Sauk Centre, Stearns County

He is 35 MN MA NY. He says he has been married 4 years but no wife is around. He does have a stepson Myron Brown 20 MN. He is a son of Arthur and Jennie from here and was at home in 1920 single. He rents a farm.

 

CLARENCE F. PUTNAM  St. Cloud, Sterns County

He is 37 NY NY NY. His wife Rose is 34 OH and they have an adopted son Jack 6 OH. He is a son of Ira H. Putnam and Louisa Guyette from Warren County New York. Clarence was born there and must have just headed this way. He has been married for 10 years but I don’t find him in Ohio in 1920. Dutch family.

 

HOLLIS C. (CHESTER) PUTNAM  St. Cloud, Sterns County

He is 56 MN NY CAN and is a ‘turnkey’ at the State Reformatory. His wife Marguerite Edith Ayers is 51 MN and they still have Ayers B. (Bowen) 22, Dorothy 19 and Harriet 14 all MN. He is a son of Charles Henry Putnam and Elizabeth Bowen from Wright County. He was here in 1910 and 1920 as well. He will be here until he dies June 19, 1946. Dutch family out of New York State.

 

LEOLA PUTNAM  St. Cloud, Sterns County

She is 23 MN MN MN single and boarding. She is a bookkeeper for the public utility company here. She is a daughter of William Henry Putman from Little Falls Morrison County.

 

F. (FREDERICK) R. PUTNAM  Morris, Stevens County

He is 63 IA CT NY and his wife Eva W. is 61 IA. They were in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa in 1900 and here in 1910 and 1920. He is a son of William Rodman Putnam and his second wife Martha, and was born in Hardin County, Iowa. His dad is from Connecticut but went to New York and married before coming to Iowa. He is real estate investor and developer.

 

HIRAM PUTNAM  Morris, Stevens County

He is 31 MN NH NH. His wife Olive Van Harlog is 30 IA and they have Evelyn 10 MT and Arthur 6 MN. They live with her folks Henry and Agnes Van Harlog from Holland. He is a son of Hiram Putnam and Winnie Williams from Traverse County. He was home in 1910 and with Olive in Flathead County Montana in 1930. Olive was born January 22, 1898 and will die in Grant County July 15, 1968.

 

GEORGE H. PUTNAM  Tintah, Traverse County

He is 53 NH NH NH and owns a farm. His second wife Jennie Johnson is 40 NORWAY and they have Ada E. 19, Georgia L. 17 and Walter 31 all MN. He was in Stutsman County, North Dakota in 1900 with his first wife Jennie Olson, and here in 1910 with Jennie number two. He is a son of Parker Putnam who was here then and in 1920. Traverse County is right on the border of both Dakotas.

 

EDGAR W. (WORTHY) PUTNAM  Elgin, Wabasha County

He is 56 MN US US and owns a farm. His wife Lelia M. Crawford is 45 MN, Hawley R. 17 MN and Leslie M. 16 MN. He is a son of Charles Putnam and Harriet Irwin from Winona County. Edgar married Lelia August 14, 1907 here in Wabasha County. They were here in 1910 and 1920. He was born February 19, 1874 and will die here May 22, 1955.

 

GEORGE E. PUTNAM  Wabasha, Wabasha County

He is 46 MN NY MI and still single. His widowed mother Rose is 66 MI. There is a nephew Douglas Putnam 21 MN. Douglas is a son of his brother Wallace Charles Putnam from Winona County. He is a son of William Washington Putnam and Rose Stadler from Wabasha County. His widowed mother has been with him since the early 1900s. George was born December 11, 1883 and will die here June 10, 1966.

 

ASAPH PUTNAM  St. James, Watonwan County

He is 93 CAN CAN CAN and in St. James Hospital and Home for the Aged. He will die very shortly on April 12, 1930.

 

WALLACE PUTNAM  Whitewater, Winona County

He is 44 ND MN MI. His wife Grace Gage is 43 MN, Harry and his twin Harold are 12 MN, and Joyce 9 MN. He is a son of William Washington Putnam and Rose Stadler from Wabasha County. His family went briefly (1884-86) to North Dakota where Wallace was born. They were all back here in Wabasha County by 1887, and there for the 1900 census. They were here in 1920. He is out of work right now. He is Wallace Charles Putnam born October 7, 1886 and will die here August 12, 1966. Grace was born December 4, 1887 and will die in Wabasha County July 19, 1968.

 

EARL R. PUTNAM  Winona, Winona County

He is 47 MN NY IN. His wife Addie Belle Whitlock is 42 MN and they have Harold W. 22 and Belva J. 20 MN. He is a foreman in an auto garage. He is a son of Charles J. Putnam and Harriet Irwin and was born here. His dad just died here January 3, 1928. He will die here December 22, 1948. Addie was born September 21, 1887 and will die here June 1, 1968.

 

ERNEST F. PUTMAN  Monticello, Wright County

He is 44 MN MN MN and his wife Jessie M. Clark is 42 WI and they have Hershel L. 22 ND. He is a son of Eugene Elmer Putnam of Sherburne County. They were in North Dakota in the early 1900s and back here in Chicago County in 1910 and somewhere in 1920. Ernest was born October 20, 1885 and will die here January 15, 1963.
