THE PUTNAMS of ESSEX COUNTY

YouÕll need help here. Heck, I need help here. Everyone here in Essex County is descended from an Asa Putnam. Problem is there seem to be two of them, and both cousins out of Vermont, and frankly I think Eben gets them a bit mixed up as far as kids go. I havenÕt found anyone on either line, so I am not at all certain. Be real careful here. The first Asa is number 897, son of Tarrant number 334 and Mary Porter. This line is Asa > Tarrant > Israel > Benjamin > Nathaniel > John. Asa was born in Danvers, Mass. December 28, 1763, and moved with his folks to Orange County Vermont. This Asa died September 11, 1839, Polly died May 10, 1858. Then there was another Asa (no number assigned as Eben knew little even of his folks. This Asa was a son of Thomas Putnam (481) and Susannah Stone of Bethel, Windsor County Vermont. This line goes Asa > Thomas > Holyoke > Edward > Edward > Thomas > John. This Asa was born in June 1780 and died in 1865. He married Elizabeth Gallup.
