He is 17 NY (MA) working on another farm. He is a son of Henry Putnam and Eliza Goodrich of Hinsdale, Berkshire County, Mass. He was home there in 1850. Henry Putnam is number 2250, a son of John Putnam (977) and Philena Curtis.
He is 18 NY (MA) on yet another farm. Isaac Warren is a son of the next guy, Isaac.
He is 52 MA, Charlotte 39 MA. Isaac is from Becket, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Isaac was born there, a son of David Putnam and Hannah Chaffee, and a grandson of Isaac Putnam number 226. In 1850 he was still married to Lucinda Church. She must have died, as Charlotte is new.
She is 20 NY and boarding. She was living with Philip Putnam in Truxton in 1850. Wasn’t sure if she was a daughter or granddaughter.
Number 2349 and was here in 1850. He is now 52 NY, Jennette (Cleveland) 47 NY, Mary 22 NY, Caroline 20 NY, Samuel 18 NY and Cleveland (John Cleveland) 5 NY.

He is a son of Calvin and his second wife Ann Grant. He has taken over his dad’s farm after he died here in 1857. He is now 32 NY, Philinda Pierce, his wife, 31 NY, Freddie 3 NY. He was born in this house April 5, 1828 and will die right here April 10, 1896.
He is 21 NY and works on a Clark farm. I don’t find any 10-12 year old Cornies in 1850 here in New York. But, in 1850 Abraham Vedder Putman, from Montgomery County, was in Lee County, Iowa and had a son Cornelius listed 13 NY then. Then the family disappeared by 1860. Very possibly the folks died or something and Cornelius returned to New York.
He is number 1188, a son of John Putnam (467) and Peggy Glidden of Montpelier, Vermont. He was born there January 24, 1819. He married Emeline Tompkins of Kent, Connecticut December 29, 1845. They were in Connecticut in 1850, and have just moved across the New York border to Amenia. They will then move to Poughkeepsie, New York where he will operate a hotel. Luke will die in Poughkeepsie August 6, 1880. He is a millwright now, 40 VT, Emeline is 37 CT, Howard B. 10 CT and Lilly Bell 4 CT. They have some boarders.
He is a lawyer 40 NY, Stella Cornelia Shaw his wife 35 MA, Wheeler S. 18 VA (actually GA) and Jennie L. 6 NY. Gideon is a son of Benjamin Risley Putnam and Eunice Morgan. He was born in Saratoga, New York on April 2, 1815. Gideon is number 2973 in Eben's book and Benjamin is number 1381. The line goes back from Gideon > Benjamin > Gideon > Stephen > Elisha > Edward > Thomas > John Putnam. He was in Warren County, Georgia in the 1840 and 1850 census, and returned here about 1851. Gideon will be by himself and in Lawrence County, Indiana in 1870 and 1880, still practicing law. His son Wheeler is also listed in Lawrence County, Indiana in 1860 and in Effingham County, Illinois in 1870 and in St. Clair County, Illinois in 1880. There must have been a split or divorce or something. I don’t find Stella in 1870, but she is in Saratoga Springs with her daughter in 1880. She lists herself then as Mrs. Gideon Putnam, but Gideon is still out in Indiana by himself then.

Carpenter 8 NY. In 1850 there was an Elisha who is missing, but I think that person is probably the Adeline shown here who wasn’t listed in 1850. Also the eldest son Louis who would be about 23 now is gone. Confusing. She will be alone here in 1870.

She is 87 VT and is living with Sam and Sarah (47 NY) Bowen. She was living here alone in 1850.
He is listed 31 SC, his wife Rosina is 22 Bavaria. They have Matilda 2 NY. Her parents, the Burn family live next door. He’s not in the 1850 South Carolina census, and probably not even born in South Carolina.
He is 41 NY a porter with the railroad, Sarah 31 NY, Frances A. 10 NY, Harriet A. 8 NY, Loretta 4 NY. Also there is a Thomas Tate, shoemaker, 19 NY. Caleb was here in 1850, and will be in 1870 too. He is a son of Peter Putnam number 2442.
This is a strange listing and is headed by L. J. Barton 53 ME. Emma is 64 NY and her daughter Emma S. is 22 OH. They however are listed as Bartons too. But they fit the family of P. F. Putnam who was here in 1850 and had L. F. Barton here as a border then. Think this is just a recording error. Emma will be in Tomkins County in 1870 still widowed and be using the Putnam name then. And at that time Joseph Bordon will be there too. In 1850 Joseph was boarding with the Putnams and took Emma out to Tompkins County when he moved.

Putnam and Sarah Maria Southwick, and probably a grandson of Asa Putnam and Polly Fowler. Problem is I never find John L. anywhere. The IGI says he was married in Crown Point in one listing. They are in Jackson County Iowa in 1870. By 1880 they seem to have broken up. Julia is still there in 1880 but no John. He does show up in 1885 in Tama County Iowa with a new wife Mary. The son Frank is in Winneshiek County Iowa in 1880 through 1900 when his widowed mother shows up there.

Hiram is now 62 NY, Ruhama Marshall, his wife, 58 NY, Elbert or Albert 22 NY a clerk. Also there is Mary Meschorn 36 NY and her son Frederick 10 NY. She would be Hiram’s daughter.
