A. MARION PUTMAN Ashville, Buncombe County

She is 47 MD MD MD and widowed. She is a bookkeeper at the hotel she is living in. She was widowed here in 1920 too.

ERNEST L. PUTMAN Ashville, Buncombe County

He is 39 SC and is a Negro. He was born June 15, 1889 and died in Ashville June 15, 1977 at age 87.

JAMES D. PUTMAN Ashville, Buncombe County

He is a Negro 21 NC.

RICHARD P. (POE) PUTNAM Ashville, Buncombe County

He is 20 NC NC NC and is a welder. His wife Wahlene W. Dockery is 19 NC. He is a son of Van Shiflin Putnam from here. He was born February 5, 1910. He died August 31, 2003 in Canton NC at age 93. He just married Wahlene here February 5, 1930.

ROBERT O. (OTHO) PUTNAM Ashville, Buncombe County

He is 36 TN TN TN and a machinist for the railroad. His wife Ruby is 33 TN. This is a second marriage for her as she has a son John Bethard 16 TN and then they have a daughter Rosemary 7 KY. He is a son of Otho Azro and Tennie Putnam from Knoxville, Tennessee. This line goes back to Illinois and then New Hampshire and then back to Massachusetts.

VAN PUTNAM Ashville, Buncombe County

Van Shiflin is now 53 NC NC NC and he is a machinist. His wife Kate Tinsley is 48 NC and they have Amelia 26 NC, Pearl 22 NC, Margaret 17 NC, Julia 13 NC and Rachel Cordelia 9 NC. Also here is his widowed mother Julia Sanders 81 NC. He is a son of Docker Shiflin Putnam and was born in Polk County and has been here since the 1880s. He will die here on April 29, 1937.

FLOYD M. (McFEE) PUTNAM Black Mountain, Buncombe County

He is 40 NC NC NC and owns a truck farm. His wife Hazel G. is 27 SC and they have Elsie 6 NC, Floyd M. 4 NC, Vivian 2 DC (probably NC), and Blanche Virginia 1 NC. He is a son of Anzie McFee Putnam and Harriet McIntyre from Cleveland County, and was with his widowed dad there in 1920. He got married in 1922.

CECIL PUTMAN Swannanoa, Buncombe County

He is Cecil Adam Putman 8 NC and listed as a son in the large household of Valley and Zona Reed. There are several boarders in the listing and Cecil is listed last as a son. The man just above him is Marshall Gregg 52 NC and divorced. The “son” listing may be for Marshall or for the Reeds at the top. Don’t know. His birth record states his parent was Susie Putman and he was born in McDowell County April 19, 1922. Susie Mace was the widow of Charles Putman. She was with Charles in Mitchell County in 1900 and 1910 and then widowed in McDowell County in 1920. He was born out of wedlock, so no clue to his real dad. According to OBITS he was born April 19, 1922 and died here in Swannanoa on August 17, 2002. He will marry Margaret Edwards. NC birth records shows they will have a son Cecil Adams Junior in Ashville on February 4, 1941. They will also have another son William Cecil Putnam born August 20, 1948 and will die May 22, 2007.

S. EVIE PUTNAM Lenoir, Caldwell County

She is 43 NC and is widowed. She has Jewell Conley (a son born December 25, 1905 and died September 20, 1970 in Haywood County) 24, Lee N. (Norris) 18, Sherrill a son 14, Janelle 10 and Mency a daughter 6 NC. She is Evie Hambrick now the widow of George Thompson Putnam from Cleveland County. They were there in 1920. George was a son of Eli Putman and Julia Thompson.

PAUL (MONROE) PUTMAN Lower Creek, Caldwell County

He is 23 NC KY NC and his wife Minnie is 18 NC. They have Thomas E. 2/12 NC. He is a son of the following Thomas Putman and is living with his family and paying rent. He works at a furniture manufacturing plant. OBITS has Paul born on May 10, 1906 and dying in Hazelwood, North Carolina in November 1966.

THOMAS C. (COLE) PUTMAN Lower Creek, Caldwell County

He is now 58 KY KY KY and is a miller at a cotton mill. His wife Mollie Chambers Eldridge is 54 NC and Dolly 19 NC and (Thomas) Clay 16 NC are at home. His son Paul is married and lives with him. Another son Fred is in Catawba County now. Still no idea as to Tom’s parents. He is listed as Thomas Cole Putman on his kids birth records.

FRED PUTMAN Hickory, Catawba County

He is 29 NC KY NC and works in a furniture factory. His wife Vergie Estelle Smith is 27 NC and they have Frederick G. 6 NC and Ruth E. 3 NC. He is a son of Thomas Putman and Mollie Chambers. He was born April 28, 1900, and was at home with them in Caldwell County in 1910 and 1920. The son Frederick Glen was born December 8, 1923 and will die here January 27, 1990. Vergie was born July 29, 1902 and died here October 11, 1984.

REED PUTMAN Hickory, Catawba County

He is Oliver Reed 20 NC NC NC and a taxi driver. His brother Allen 11 NC is with him. They are sons of Luther Putman and Minnie Teague. The family was here in 1910 and 1920. Their dad has a new wife Bertie, only 20 years old, and they are in Dallas, Gaston County along with his folks Romulus and Laura Putman. I guess their mother Minnie died and they didn’t like their new stepmother, so stayed here.

CHARLES I. (IRVIN) PUTNAM Boiling Springs, Cleveland County

He is 53 NC NC NC and his wife Mollie Moore is 39 NC. He is a son of Samuel Evans Putman and Artie Hardin. He owns his own farm. He was born November 24, 1874. He married Mary Narcissus 'Molly' Moore. She was born in 1890 and died in Boiling Springs August 3, 1968

DURAN L. (LAMAR) PUTNAM Boiling Springs, Cleveland County

He is a farmer 42 NC NC NC. His wife Mabel E. Ross is 35 NC and they have Vertie 11, Edward 13 and Helen 5. He is a son of Benjamin Putnam and Verdia Hughes from here. He will be here until he dies November 11, 1969. Mabel will die here December21, 1960.

EDNA PUTNAM Boiling Springs, Cleveland County

She is 17 NC and a student at Boiling Springs Junior College.

GAZZIE PUTMAN Boiling Springs, Cleveland County

Okay, get ready for this one. Gazzie Lovelace is now the widow of Burton Pleos Putman. They were here in 1920 and he died here March 2, 1920. Gazzie is now 32 NC and the kids are Julius 13 and Corene 11. Gazzie is now listed as an adopted daughter of John J. and Cansis Spurlin. Now Edith Cansis Putman (who married John Julius Spurlin) is Burton’s older sister. They may well have adopted her, but I think more likely they just took the family in under their wing. Anyway, Burton and Edith are kids of Benjamin Franklin Putman and Verdia Hughes from here.

ANDREW B. (BERTIE) PUTMAN Kings Mountain, Cleveland County

He is 47 NC NC NC. His wife Mary Vickers is 49 NC, Boyd W. (William) 21 and Viola 17 NC. He is a son of David Putman and Mary Catherine Carpenter from Gaston County. They were in Crowder Mountain, Gaston County in 1920.

(ARTHUR) BENTON PUTNAM Kings Mountain, Cleveland County

He is 42 NC NC NC and a salesman at a grocery store. His wife Audrey Leona Ware is 38 NC and they have Zoe 15, Alma 12 and Nina 9 NC. He is a son of Lorenzo Dow Putnam and Clarissa Jane Kendrick. They were married here November 13, 1913 and are here all their lives. He was born January 8, 1888 and will die here April 21, 1962. She was born October 24, 1891 and will die here February 4, 1975.

CHARLES F. (FRANKLIN) PUTNAM Kings Mountain, Cleveland County

He is now 73 NC NC NC, his wife Bettie Kendrick 74 NC. Their son William Wade 31 and his wife Bertha Wright 25 are here and have Russell 4, Doyle or Hoyle 3, Max 1 6/12 and Bettie 6/12 NC. He is a son of Marcus Putman and Emily Jane Camp. He was born February 21 or 24, 1857 and died May 22, 1941. He married Elizabeth Jane Kendrick in Cleveland County on October 30, 1881. Elizabeth was a daughter of Larkin Kendrick and Elizabeth Jane Martin. She was born August 7, 1858 and died September 17, 1936.

LANE PUTMAN Kings Mountain, Cleveland County

He is 29 NC NC NC and rents a farm. His wife Stella Fincannon is 29 NC and they have Glen 7, Lawrence 5 and Maggie 8/12 NC. Joseph Lane Putman is a son of Jesse Henry Putman and Mattie Caldwell from Gaston County. He was just married here in Kings Mountain in 1920. Joe was born in September 1899 and died here April 24, 1964. OBITS has the son Glen Albert born October 10, 1922 and died here at Kings Mountain October 18, 2001. The son Lawrence Edward was born March 19, 1925 and will die here in Kings Mountain on May 4, 1987. He was divorced at that time. The daughter Margaret died in Kings Mountain September 7, 2007. She was married twice, first to Emery Murray and then to James M. Todd. She outlived both of them. She worked for Western Auto in Gastonia.

LAWRENCE PUTNAM Kings Mountain, Cleveland County

He is 38 NC NC NC and owns a farm. His wife Lela Lee Hord is 34 NC and they now have Grady 12, Elvis 9, Elizabeth 7 and Lloyd 4 NC. He is Charles Lawrence Putnam a son of Charles Franklin Putman and Elizabeth Jane Kendrick. He was born September 14, 1892. His wife Lela Hord was born January 21, 1895 and died February 15, 1986 at age 91. He died in Kings Mountain January 24, 1961.

TOM V. (VANCE) PUTMAN Kings Mountain, Cleveland County

He is 44 NC NC NC. His wife Etta Lula Chaney is 44 NC and they now have Sylvanus 16, Annie 13, Flora 10 and Grover 8. He is a son of David Putman and Catherine Carpenter from Gaston County. Thomas was born April 19, 1885 and died June 3, 1955. He married Etta Lula Chaney born March 2, 1882 and died October 13, 1952. They were in Gastonia, Gaston County in 1910 and in Kings Mountain Cleveland County in 1920.

(WADE) HILL PUTNAM Kings Mountain, Cleveland County

He is 44 NC NC NC and is a house carpenter. His wife Mildred Goforth is 36 NC, and they have Velma E. 18, Ruth J. 16, Louise 13, Mabel 11, Wade H. 6 and William S. 6/12 NC. He is Wade Hill Putman a son of Lorenzo Dow Putnam and Clarissa Jane Kendrick. He was born April 28, 1885 and died March 30, 1951. He married Mildred W. Goforth in Cleveland County on September 21, 1910. Mildred was born April 21, 1893 and died in Gastonia on July 2, 1978.

WILLIAM C. PUTNAM Kings Mountain, Cleveland County

He is 72 NC NC NC and his second wife Mae S. 45 SC. He is a son of Marcus L. Putman and Emily Jane Camp, and was born here in June 1858. He died in Kings Mountain January 4, 1944. According to OBITS, Mae was born January 30, 1882 and died in Kings Mountain in June 1979. They were here in 1910 and 1920. He was here in 1900, but married to a Hattie.

CLARENCE G. (GORDON) PUTNAM Rippys, Cleveland County

He is 49 NC NC NC and owns a farm. His wife Leola Gibson is 42 NC and they have Helen 15, (Clarence) Gibson 12 and Doris 5 NC. He is a son of Anzie McFee Putman and Harriet McIntyre. He was born August 22, 1880. He married Leola Gibson August 7, 1904. She was born November 9, 1886 and will die in Shelby September 7, 1973. Clarence will die in Shelby December 13, 1954.

FOY B. (BELL) PUTNAM Rippys, Cleveland County

He is 42 NC, his wife Martha Ray Elam is 38 NC and they have Foy Jr. 11 and Jane 6 NC. He is a son of James Monroe Putman and Sarah Louise Bostick from here.

GEORGE L. (LANDRUM) PUTNAM Rippys, Cleveland County

He is 47 NC NC NC and his wife Ida D. Hambright 50 NC. He is a son of Charles Franklin Putnam and Elizabeth Jane Kendrick. They never had any children.

L. (LEROY) CLIFTON PUTNAM Rippys, Cleveland County

He is 63 NC NC NC. His wife Pantha Melinda Jones is 56 NC and they have at home Ossie a daughter 27, Shafter 23, Sam 21, Gay (Wilford Gay) 19, Frances 17 and Arvie 15 NC. He is a son of Samuel Putman and Artie Hardin. They have been here a while. He was born February 11, 1867. He married Pantha M. Jones on October 10, 1892. He will die in here February 14, 1932 at age 65.

L. (LLOYD) YATES PUTNAM Rippys, Cleveland County

He is 40 NC, Wylma Lalla Bridges his wife is 33 NC, and they have Sarah Louise 9 NC, Jack 6 NC and Charles Monroe 1 NC. He is a son of James Monroe Putnam and Sarah Louise Bostic from here. He was born April 12, 1890 and will die August 19, 1957. He married Wilma Bridges February 15, 1920. The son Charles Monroe Putnam was born April 6, 1928 and lived in Alamance County California. He returned to Shelby where he died October 2, 1990. He was 62 and widowed at that time. The son Jack Robbins Putnam was born September 4, 1923 and will die in Shelby August 9, 2004. He married a cousin Willie Putnam who I think was a daughter of Leo and Ada Putnam from here. The daughter Sarah Louise was born March 6, 1921.

LEO R. (RAMSEUR) PUTNAM Rippys, Cleveland County

He is 51 NC NC NC and owns his farm. His wife Ada Gertrude Weaver is 50 NC and they have Esther 22, Edna 10, Wythe (Ithel in 1920) a son 19, Crete 17, Ezra Lee 10 and Willie Gertrude 7 NC. He is a son of Benjamin Franklin Putman and Verdia Hughes. He was born May 23, 1878. He married Ada Gertrude Weaver November 28, 1900 and died August 26, 1954. She was born in 1879 and died in Shelby March 4, 1966.

SETH PUTNAM Rippys, Cleveland County

He is 36 NC NC NC and still single as are his sisters Fannie Bell 39 and Linore 38. His widowed mother Nicey Roberts 69 NC is here too. They are children of Charles C. Putnam and were all here in 1920. Charles was a son of David Carson Putman. Seth will marry Besie Montgomery about 1935 and they’ll have several kids into the 1940s.

STURGEON B. (BRITTON) PUTNAM Rippys, Cleveland County

He is 24 NC NC NC, his wife Maggie Lee Bridges is 21 NC and they have Bobbie Gene 1 NC. He is a tenant farmer on his wife’s folks farm. He is a son of Clarence Gordon Putnam and Leola Gibson and was born here August 22, 1905. He married Maggie December 13, 1925. Maggie was born February 29, 1908 and died in Shelby February 22, 1999. A Sadie Hawkins Day girl. Sturgeon died in Shelby August 6, 1986 at age 80.

WILBURN H. (HAMPTON) PUTNAM Sandy Run, Cleveland County

He is 32 NC NC NC, his wife Orla Hawkins is 29 NC and they have Margaret E. 2 NC. He is Wilburn Hampton Putman a son of Leroy Clifton Putnam and Pantha Jones.

BARTIS PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 47 NC NC NC. His wife Ida B. is 45 NC and the have a daughter Frances 8 CA. Name was hard to read and I have no ideas.

BURGIN E. PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

His name is actually Bourgoine de Estine Putman, but he seems to use Burgin the last couple of censuses. He is a son of Eli F. Putman and Julia Thompson from here. He is 54 NC NC NC, his wife Laura Street is 48 and only Ralph William 16 NC is still at home. He was born here April 9, 1876. He first married Mary C. Wesson who died in 1898. He then married Laura Street April 13, 1900. Laura was born in 1881 and will die in Shelby March 1, 1971 at age 90. He will die in Shelby March 21, 1947

CAMERON PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

He is now 61 NC and still single. His mother Annie is widowed now at age 88 NC. He was a son of William Roswell Putman and Ann Clarissa Beam from here.

CHARLIE A. (ASHLEY) PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 70 NC NC NC as is his wife Sarah Jane Eskridge. He is still a spinner at a cotton mill. He goes by the name Dock and is a son of Joseph Devanney Putman and Susan Davis. He will be here till he dies January 4, 1944 at age 84.

CLYDE G. (GEORGE) PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 31 NC and owns his farm. His wife Elizabeth Cantrell is 26 NC and they have Marjorie 9 NC, Ruth 7 NC, Clyde Jr. 4 NC and Betty Jo 2 NC. He is a son of Cicero and Lucinda Putman from here. His dad died and his mother remarried and he spent the first 15 years of his life in an Orphanage here in Cleveland County. He was born in 1899 and will die here July 22, 1990.

CLYDE R. PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is up from Greenville County, South Carolina. He is 28 SC SC SC and a mechanic in a cotton mill. That’s what he was doing in South Carolina. His wife Grace McGraw is 23 SC, Clyde Jr. 5 NC and Bobbie 3 NC. Also here is his widowed mother Mattie 60 SC. Martha Susan Montjoy is the widow of Stephen Perry Putman from Laurens County, South Carolina. His dad died there in 1914, but Mattie will hang in till 1953. Clyde will die here on December 20, 1934.

CLYDE PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is Clyde Ernest Putnam listed without an age as is his wife Katie Owens. He should be Bourgoine’s son and would be 24 now. They have Madge 10 NC, Clifford 8 NC, Janie 7 NC, Charles C. 5 and Mary J. 2 NC.

D. FRANKLIN PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 60 NC NC NC and his wife Eliza C. Spangler is 58 NC. He is Doctor Franklin Putnam a Baptist Minister, and a son of Samuel Evans Putnam. He will be here till he dies in 1947. They were in Nash County in 1910 and Gaston County in 1920.

ELIZA PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

She is 75 NC and widowed. She is Eliza McIntyre the widow now of Albert Putnam from here. He died here February 24, 1926. Her widowed daughter Ada Stroup 53 NC is here as she was in 1920. Eliza will die her herself on December 16, 1931.

ERNEST PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 35 NC NC NC. His wife Maybelle Currie is 23 NC and they have Betty Jean 1 4/12 NC. He is a son of Eli Putman and Julia Thompson from here. He is a framer in a cotton mill. He is also listed now in Charlotte at another cotton mill.

EVERETT PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 51 NC NC NC and a pattern maker in a furniture plant. Minnie L. Threatt his wife is 49 NC and they have Quinton 23, Gilmer 22, Frances 20, Madge 18, Willis 15, Hazel 12, John 9, Alice 8, and Minnie 5 all NC. Malcolm Everett Putman is a son of Albert Putman and Elizabeth McIntyre from here. He was born in 1878. His wife was Minnie L. Threatt was born in 1881 and will die here June 20, 1963.

GEORGE PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 64 NC NC NC and still single. He is living with his sister Eliza Wilkins 62 NC and her husband Thomas. They are children of William Hambly and Margaret Putman from Gaston County. They were all here together in 1920 too.

ISAIAH (IVERSON) PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

He was indexed as Ezra Puttman. He is 66 NC NC NC and his wife Lillie Lee Sheppard is 49 NC. He is Devanny Putman’s son. Lillie is his second wife. They were married in 1906. He will be here until he dies in 1943.

(JAMES) DOGAN PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 35 SC SC SC and is a section hand in a cotton mill. His wife Virginia Williams is 35 SC and they have Celestine 9 SC, Dorothy 7 SC and Rita Jean 5 SC. He is a son of Stephen Perry Putman and Mattie Montjoy from Laurens County, South Carolina. He must have come up about the same time as his mother and brother Clyde. They were in Greenville County South Carolina too in 1910 and 1920. He was born August 31, 1897. Virginia Williams was born in 1895 and died in Cleveland County North Carolina January 14, 1956. James died in Cleveland County May 12, 1958.

JAP S. PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 40 NC NC NC, and his wife Angeline McDaniel is 30 NC. They have been married six years and have David C. 5 NC and Betty J. 1 NC. He is Jasper Stowe Putman a son of David Carson Putman and Sally Ann Roberts from here in Shelby. He was born March 9, 1888. He was at home through 1920 and then married Angie in 1924. Jasper died in Shelby November 20, 1962. Angie was born February 10, 1899 and died in Shelby April 14, 1988 at age 90.

JENKINS D. (DEVANNEY) PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

He is a son of Isaiah Putman and Lillie Sheppard and was born here. He is 33 NC NC NC and rents a farm. His wife Josephine Eunice Brooks is 33 NC. He was born May 4, 1896 and died July 27, 1975.

JESSE M. (MALCOM) PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 36 NC NC NC and rents a farm. His wife Laura Etta McSwain is 30 NC and they have Inez 8, Lena 7, Jessie a daughter 5, William 5 and Boyd 1 NC. Also there are his twin half-brothers Max and Mills Putnam 14 NC. He is a son of William Alexander Putman and his second wife Ida Turner Wall. Max and Mills are by the third wife Evie Hughes. He was born August 11, 1893 and died November 18, 1963. He married Laura Etta McSwain February 2, 1921. Laura was born September 12, 1899 and died in Shelby in March of 1972.

JOE LANE PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

He is Joseph Lane a son of Adolphus Putman and a cousin Elizabeth Elmira Putman (daughter of David Putman). He is 69 NC NC NC and widowed. He is living with his married daughter Annie Ray Yarborough 30 NC and her husband Burton. Joseph Lane was married to Hattie Wilkins here till the mid 1920s. Joe will die here himself on November 7, 1931.

MARY PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

She is 69 NC and widowed. She lives with her widowed daughter Dovie Hambrick 42 NC. Mary Jones was married to John Daniel Putman who died in Gaston County in 1920. Dovie was married to Charles Hambrick.

NANCY PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

She is she is 20 SC SC NC and has a daughter Nancy 6/12 NC. She says she is married but is living with her parents Will and Daisy Griffin.

OREN PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

William Oren is now 35 NC NC NC, his wife Frances 32 NC and their son Clarence B. 14 NC. Also here is his widowed father Clarence David 65 NC as he was in 1920. David Clarence Putman is the son of David Carson Putman and Frances Batty. He was born November 19, 1894 and will die here August 17, 1938.

RESSIE W. (WILLIAM) PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 45 NC NC NC. His wife Daisy Pearson is 43 NC and Bruce 13 NC is still at home. He is a mail carrier. William Ressie is a son of Benjamin Franklin Putnam and Verdia Hughes from Shelby. He was born May 15, 1885. He married Daisy Pearson October 11, 1905. Daisy was born December 23, 1886 and will die in Shelby November 16, 1973. He will die here August 27, 1953.

S. (SAMUEL) TILDEN PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 53 NC NC NC. His wife Vella Evans Eskridge is 50 NC and they have Pauline 19 NC, Hal (Harold Willard) 17 NC and Earl (Franklin Earl) 12 GA. I don’t find him here or in Georgia in 1920. He is a son of Samuel Evans Putman and Artie Hardin.

STEPHEN A. (ALGIE) PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 32 SC SC SC and is a weaver in a cotton mill. His wife Frances Summer is 29 NC and works in the mill as well. He is a son of Stephen Perry Putman and Martha Susan Montjoy from Laurens County South Carolina. He was born April 12, 1895. Frances was born in 1901 and will die shortly here in Shelby on April 30, 1931. He will die here October 12, 1953. I am not sure if he married again, but would guess he did.

WILLIAM A. (ADKIN) PUTNAM Shelby, Cleveland County

He is 61 NC NC NC and he owns a gasoline filling station. His second wife Lena Pauline Elmore is 51 NC and they have May 22, Max 18, Harry 13 and Annie Sue 12 NC. He is a son of Samuel L. Putman and Winnie Long from here. He has been in Gaston County the last 20 years though. He will return there and die in Cherryville, Gaston County on November 12, 1935. Lena will die here January 28, 1948.

WILLIAM C. (CONNALLY) PUTMAN Shelby, Cleveland County

Minnie died in 1920 and these kids are with her folks R. W. and Mary Grigg. Their dad has remarried (third time) to Bertha McSwain. Jasper Rufus was born March 6, 1912 and died March 4, 1984. He married Dona Prue Beattie. She was born January 21, 1910 and died March 10, 1981. Marion Alonzo was born February 12, 1916. He married Ola Maggie Hamrick February 26, 1939. He was still alive in 2005 when his son Robert died. Ola had died earlier. Arthur Lee was born April 5, 1918 in Shelby, Cleveland County and died April 1, 1997 in Gastonia, Gaston County. He married Edith Corrine Dedmon October 4, 1936. She was born March 9, 1915 and died August 17, 1998.

W. D. (WILLIAM DOW) PUTMAN Warlick, Cleveland County

He is 47 NC NC NC and still single. His brother M. C. (Marshall Crowder) is 39 NC and also single. Marshall was in the state insane asylum in 1920. Marshall will die shortly on May 4, 1930. His death record says he died back at the Asylum in Burke County. An also here is their widowed mother Clarissa Jane Kendrick 79 NC. She was married to Lorenzo Dow Putman from here. Clarissa will die later this year on December 26, 1930 after just too hectic a Christmas.

He is a son Of William Adkin Putman and was born October 21, 1901. His mom Selina Agnes Moss died shortly after this, maybe from complications in childbirth. He never appeared with his father’s family. In 1920 he was with Jane Poole as an adopted son and then in 1930 she was with him listed as a widowed mother. Maybe he was born out of wedlock. Just don’t know. He married Joyce Elizabeth Fairchild July 31, 1927. He died October 5, 1976 and Joyce died September 22, 1988 in Waco, Gaston County.

Ralph was by his first wife, and Zinnie had three Houser kids from her first marriage. In 1920 they were called stepchildren. They are here now and simply called boarders. Never been able to figure out who he is though.

He is 38 SC SC NC and he works in a cotton mill. His wife Vida Myrtle Lineberger is 36 NC and they have Mildred 15 NC, Rachel 11 NC and Billie J. 1 NC. Age spread of the kids looks like marriage two for him though. There is a birth record for Billie Jean April 29, 1929 and lists her folks as Elijah Anderson Putman and Myrtle Lineberger. Elijah is a son of Rush Douglas Putman and Martha Patterson from here. Elijah will be here till he dies January 1, 1958.

LUTHER O. PUTMAN Dallas, Gaston County

He is 46 NC SC NC and works in a cotton mill. He is on his second wife Bertie 20 NC and they have Lucinia 3 NC. They have been married 4 years. He is a son of Romulus and Laura Putman who are here in Dallas too. He was born in 1884 and will die in Lincoln County March 4, 1958.He was married to Minnie Teague and they were in Catawba County up through 1920. Don’t know if she died or they got a divorce. She’s not around anywhere and their two kids are still there now.

He is 55 NC NC NC and is a ‘Boss Man’ at a cotton mill. His second wife Lula Flowers is only 36 NC and they have Verna 11, Ambrose 9, Mabel 6 all NC. Also here is a nephew Charles Putman 18 NC. Charlie is a son of this Robert’s brother Henry Putman and Lizzie Messer from here. Seems his folks died or split or something as in 1920 he was living with his widowed grandmother Elizabeth Presley Putman here in Dallas. His full name is Charles Douglas Putman and he will marry Wilma Smith and have a son Charles Douglas here in 1942. Robert is a son of Rush Douglas Putman and Martha Patterson from here.

He is Robert Edward Lee Putnam and is 38 KY KY KY. He is a manager of the Holland Furnace Company. His wife Lucille Appel is 32 WI and they have Elizabeth 10 MN KY WI. Her widowed mother Pearl Appel 53 WI is here. He is a son of Robert E. Lee Putnam of Bell County, KY and was there in 1900 and 1910. They were in Minneapolis in 1920. Massachusetts family originally. Robert Senior was a son of Alpheus George Putnam, who was a son of George Washington Putnam II and grandson of the elder George Washington who was a son of Israel Putnam II and Sarah Waldo of Pomfret, Connecticut. Then … The NC birth records show he will have 4 more sons in the 1934 to 1944 time frame with a wife named Esther Buchanan in Haywood County. Robert E. Lee August 21, 1934; a Son October 13, 1935; William February 8, 1937 and Theodore Delano March 1, 1944. Don’t know what happened to Lucille though.

Wilbur was born in 1906. They were married in 1929. He will die February 26, 1936.

He is a son of Julius and Elvira Putnam from here in Guilford County. They have been here all their lives. Cecil was born March 1, 1895 and will die in Alamance County June 23, 1952. Myrtle was born September 11, 1903 and will die in Alamance County August 28, 1987. The daughter Doris was born August 2, 1927 and will die December 2, 1985. She married a Turner and then a Johnson man. Julius was born in 1929 and died in 2005.

His folks Joseph Putnam and Matilda Conrad are here, but I’m giving them a separate listing. He was born May 5, 1896. Still home in 1920 and married to Sarah Jane Price in 1928. He will die in Clyde North Carolina in April 1979. Sarah Jane was born February 14, 1908 and died in Haywood County June 13, 1988.

GEORGE PUTMAN Iron Duff, Haywood County

He is George Wilson Putman son of Montvale Putman and Mary Lou Conrad. He was born here December 16, 1889. He is 40 NC NC NC and owns a farm. His wife Mary Ethel Wright is 34 NC, and they now have Lucy 11, Edith 10, Virgil 8, Montville 5, Loretta 4, and Laura 2/12 all NC. He married Mary in 1917.

JOSEPH W. (WILLIS) PUTNAM Iron Duff, Haywood County

Wilson Putman and Emily Cole’s son is still around. He is 73 NC and his wife Matilda Conrad is 70 NC. His son Fred is living here too with his brand new family. Joe will die here on February 7, 1932.

GEORGE PUTMAN Waynesville, Haywood County

He is 27 NC NC NC, Frankie McElroy his wife is 24 and David 5 NC. He is Robena’s son and was born here.

(DAVID) LUTHER PUTNAM Waynesville, Haywood County

He is now 49 NC NC NC and is a plumber. Bertha Fry his wife is 44 and they have David Luther Jr. 18, Maude 14, Ruth 13, Elizabeth 10 and Jennie 5 all NC born. David Luther Putman is a son of Thomas Putman and Amanda Singleton and was born here in Haywood County April 15, 1880, and will be here till he dies October 15, 1970.

ROBERT M. (MURDOCK) PUTNAM Waynesville, Haywood County

He is 46 NC NC NC and owns his farm. His wife Maggie Green is 36 and they have Frank 18, Clyde 15, Charley 13, Belle 11, Lloyd 9, Ruth 8, and Noah 4 all NC. He is a son of Edward and Etta Putman from Mitchell County. He is Robert Murdock Putman, 'Mird' Putman born there January 28, 1885. He moved to Haywood County and married Maggie Green here April 15, 1908, and has been here ever since. He will die here August 25, 1949.

JOHN A. (ADAM) PUTMAN Fallstown, Iredell County

He is 57 NC NC NC and is a mechanic/carpenter. His wife Alice Sherrill is 43 NC. Don’t think she is a second wife. He married her back in Rutherford County when she was only 13 years old. They have Kattie Belle 22, Thelma Estelle 17, Robert F. 14, Antha 11, Murial Onnas 9 and Lee Talley 5 all NC. He is a son of Elias William Putman and Margaret Isabella Gilleland and was born out here in October 1873.

SAMUEL PUTNAM Fallstown, Iredell County

He is a son of the above John Adam Putnam. He is 24 NC NC NC and works in a cotton mill. His wife Pleasey Bumgarner his wife is 26 NC and they have Donald 6/12 NC. Samuel Preston Putman was born August 13, 1905. He married Pleasey Bumgarner in 1828. He died in Gaston County June 10, 1982. Pleasey was born May 18, 1904 and died in Mount Holly April 18, 1989.

THOMAS PUTNAM Fallstown, Iredell County

He is 26 NC NC NC and works in a cotton mill. His wife Juanita Robinette is 18 NC and they have Thomas Jr. 7/12 NC. Thomas Harold is a son of Dewitt Preston Putman and Myrtle Berrier from here. The son Thomas Harold Jr. was born September 9, 1929 and will die here March 29, 1983.

EDITH PUTMAN Banner, Johnston County

She is now 46 and widowed. She still has her two kids Beana 17 and Preston 15 all NC. She was widowed here with her mother Sarah Parker in 1920. She is Edith Parker the second wife and widow of Pinkney Austin Putman from Cleveland County. He died of throat cancer August 24, 1915. Pinkney was a son of Samuel Evans Putman and Artie Harden. He had two daughters in his first marriage and they are now in an orphanage in Durham.

CLARENCE L. (LEE) PUTNAM Kinston, Lenoir County

He is 45 KY KY KY and has been married 14 years to Sybil Hyatt Dawson 30 NC NC NC. They have Clarence D. 13 NC, Jessie a daughter 9 NC, James 5 NC, and Charles 1 NC. Also here are Sybil’s widowed father James B. Dawson 75 NC and her brother James B. Dawson 39 NC and a bunch of boarders. He is a foreman on a construction crew. He is a son of Robert Edward Lee Putnam and Ellen Elizabeth Neff from Boyd County Kentucky. He was born there in September 1885. He was back with his folks in Pineville, Kentucky in 1920 but obviously was here in the 1915-1919 period as Clarence was born there. In 1910 he was in the Army stationed at the Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis County Missouri. The son Clarence Dawson was born here March 19, 1917 and will die in Pensacola, Florida July 20, 1986. The son Charles M. was born August 11, 1928.

COTIE Z. (ZACHARIAH) PUTMAN Ironton, Lincoln County

He is Coustige Zachariah Putman son of Joseph Devanney Putman and Susan Davis from Cleveland County. He is 64 NC NC NC and owns his farm. His wife Lilly G. Elliott is 63 NC. Their only son Iverson rents part of the farm. He will die here April 20, 1933.

ISAAC I. (IVERSON) PUTMAN Ironton, Lincoln County

He is 34 NC NC NC, his wife Rosy Lee Dellinger is 35, and they have Clarence L. 13, May G. (Gertrude) 11, Gus H. (Augusta Harold) 8, Cecil B. 7 and Charles 2 all born NC. He is a son of the above Cotie and Lilly and rents part of their farm. He was their only child. He and Rosa were in Union County in 1920.

DORA PUTNAM Lincolnton, Lincoln County

She is 71 NC and widowed. She lives with her married daughter Lillie May 32 NC and her husband Charlie Milburn. She is Dora Black the widow of Broomfield Putman who died in the 1890s. He was a son of Samuel Putman and Winnie Long from Cleveland County. She was in Gaston County in 1920. Dora will die here in Lincolnton on September 5, 1936.

DOVIE PUTNAM Lincolnton, Lincoln County

She is 27 NC and single. She is a waitress in a hotel. I think this is Jesse and Martha Putman’s daughter from Gaston County.

JAMES (LUTHER) PUTNAM Lincolnton, Lincoln County

He is 54 NC NC NC and owns a hardware store. His wife Clevie H. Weathers is 47 NC, James Jr. 22 NC and Hugh 11 NC. He is a son of Benjamin Putman and Mary Ellen Gates from Cleveland County. He was single here in 1900 and married to Clevie ever since. Clevie will die here in Lincolnton on October 30, 1968.

MILLER A. (ALEXANDER) PUTNAM Lincolnton, Lincoln County

He is 50 NC NC NC and owns a barbershop. His wife Cora Jane Hallman is 50 and they have Oland (Olla) 26, Selma 24, Dorothy 23 and Eliza 20 all NC. He is a son of Thomas Dickson Putman and Frances Jennings from Cleveland County. They were here in 1920. Cora will be here till she died April 11, 1969.

ROBERT N. PUTNAM Laurel, Madison County

He is 36 NC NC NC and owns a truck farm. His wife Bessie Burnett is 34 NC and they have Robert Lloyd 12 NC. He is a son of William Weldon Putman and Alice Mauck from Buncombe County. They were here in 1920.

ADDIE PUTNAM Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

She is 54 and widowed. Still at home are Pearl 32, Effie 27, Ray 22 and Robert 15 all born NC. Addie Goodman is the widow of Robert Julian Putman from here. Robert was a son of Elias William Putman and Margaret Gilleland from Cleveland County. He has been around here from 1900 through the 1920. He died here October 7, 1925.

AMANDA PUTNAM Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

She is 76 NC and widowed and living with a grandson whose name I can’t make out. She is Amanda Wesson the widow of James Crayton Putnam from Gaston County. She will die here in 1935.

CLARENCE PUTNAM Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

He is 55 NC NC NC and works in a cotton mill. His wife Alice J. Northey is 65 SC and they have Florence 26 SC. He is a son of James C. and Amanda Putman from Gaston County, North Carolina. They were in Cherokee County, South Carolina in 1910 and 1920. He will be here till he dies January 27, 1947.

EDNA PUTMAN Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

She is 28 NC single and a graduate nurse in the hospital. There weren’t any Ednas in 1910 or 1920 that would fit. Must have used another name.

ELIAS W. (WILLIAM) PUTMAN Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

He is 57 NC NC NC. His wife Blanche E. Andrews is 46 and they have Dewey E. 31 and Earl 20 all NC at home. Also here is Blanche’s mother Rebecca Andrews 68 as she was in 1920. He is a son of Romulous and Laura Putmann from Gaston County. They were here in Charlotte in 1920. His daughter Florabelle 27 and her husband Brodus Whitaker and three of their kids are here too. The whole family seems to work at a cotton mill. Blanche will die here December 22, 1944 and Elias on November 25, 1947.

ERNEST PUTMAN Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

He is 36 NC and says he is married, but is alone. He works in a cotton mill like everyone in town. He should be Eli Putman’s son and he is listed back in Shelby, Cleveland County and indeed is married to Maybelle Currie.

H. J. PUTNAM Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

He is 30 NE NE NE and owns an outdoor advertising company. Highway billboard stuff. I think this is Harold Putnam son of Frank and Mary Putnam as shown in Dixon County, Nebraska in 1920.

JAMES K. PUTMAN Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

He is 23 NC NC NC, and his wife Neva Keener is 22 NC. He works in a cotton mill. He is a son of Elias William Putman from here. He was home in 1920 and got married in 1926.

MORORO (?) PUTMAN Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

Hard to read, but she is 60 NC and widowed. She lives with her married daughter Ray or Neay or something Ross 35 NC.

RUTH A. PUTNAM Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

She is 21 NC and single. She is a daughter of Samuel and Della Putnam from here in Charlotte.

WILLIAM F. (FRANKLIN) PUTMAN Charlotte, Mecklenburg County

He is 37 SC SC SC and is an express truck driver. His wife Aletha Louise Davis is 34 NC and they have William Franklin Jr. 11 SC and John Dubois 6 SC. He is a son of William C. Putman and a first wife last name Smith. He was at home with his dad in Dials, Laurens County South Carolina in 1900 and in York County in 1910. They were married in York County South Carolina in 1920. He was born in 1893 and will die in Charlotte, North Carolina October 28, 1960. The son William Jr. was born July 5, 1918 and will die is Salisbury, North Carolina November 24, 1983. They all lived in Charlotte from here on though.

FLORENCE PUTMAN Davidson, Mecklenburg County

She is 18 NC and says she is married, but is living with her brother Melvin Schumacher. No idea who she is married to, and he’s not around.

ALFRED PUTMAN Huntersville, Mecklenburg County

He is 27 NC NC NC and is a painter at the Ford Plant. His wife Grace Carter is 25 SC and they have Alfred Jr. 1 NC. He is a son of Samuel and Della Putman from Charlotte and now here too.

SAMUEL G. (GLENN) PUTMAN Huntersville, Mecklenburg County

He is 56 NC NC NC and owns a farm. They were in Charlotte up till now. His wife Della Strider is 49, and they have Willie 27, Ruth 21, Hazel 18, Druscilla 16 and two grandchildren all NC. He is a son of Elias William Putman and Margaret Gilleland from Iredell County.

NANCY PUTNAM Bakersville, Mitchell County

She is 71 NC and widowed. This time she is listed as stepmother in law of William and Texana Yelton. She was here in 1920. See that listing for how she may fit into this thing. Think she is the second wife of George Putnam from here. He had two wives named Nancy, so it’s confusing.

ELMER PUTNAM Harrell, Mitchell County

He is 21 NC NC NC and his wife Mary Moffitt is 18 TN. They were just married a year ago. Leon Elmer Putnam is a son of Charles Sidney Putman and Roxanna Bowman from here. He was born here November 1, 1909. He married Mary and lived in Rutherford County, and died at age 79 on May 10, 1989.

GEORGE PUTNAM Harrell, Mitchell County

He is now 64 NC SC SC. His wife Nancy Bryant is 64 NC and Roy 21 NC. He is a son of James Webster Putman and Martha Reed and was born here. He’ll be here till he dies June 22, 1950. Nancy will die September 3, 1943.

JESSE PUTNAM Harrell, Mitchell County

He is 30 NC NC NC and owns a part of his dad’s farm. His wife Florida Townsend is 24 NC. He is a son of George Washington Putman and Nancy Bryant from here in Harrell.

MALLEY PUTNAM Harrell, Mitchell County

Mallie Kai Putnam is 26 NC NC NC and a farmer. His wife Euna J. Aldridge is 26 NC, and they have Phillip 2 and Frank just born April 7, 1930. They were married here April 10, 1926. He is a son of George Washington Putman and Nancy Bryant from here in Harrell.

RUSSELL PUTNAM Harrell, Mitchell County

He is 58 NC NC NC and is a sawyer in a lumber mill. His wife Dovie Green is 48, and they have Earl 21, Halder 16, Ethel 13, Arthur 9 and Daisy 7, Russell 5 all born NC. He is a son of James Webster Putman and Martha Reed and was born here.

SIDNEY PUTNAM Harrell, Mitchell County

Charles Sidney is 56 NC SC SC (born in August 1879) and owns a farm. His wife Roxanna Bowman is 44 (born December 8, 1885) and they have Jason 19, James 16, Viola 14, and a son Wash (George Washington) 9 all born NC. He is a son of James Webster Putman and Martha Reed from here. This is an interesting ‘posthumous’ listing. The census takers started gathering data on March 1^st and Sidney died here March 4. The enumerator put it all in the ‘book’ on April 21^st and obviously didn’t get word of his death. Roxanna will hang in till May 1982 and die at age 97.

WILLARD PUTNAM Harrell, Mitchell County

He is Charles Sidney’s son and is only one farm away from his folks (or mom now). He is 27 NC, his wife Ellen Harrell is 25 and they have Doris 5 and Eriel a daughter 2 all NC.

LESTER H. PUTNAM Snow Creek, Mitchell County

He is 17 NC and his sister Ruth is 14 NC. They live with their mother Beulah 35 NC

and her new husband Walter Hensley 33 NC. She is Beulah Buchanan, the widow of George Cleveland Putman who was a son of Marshall Putman and Etta Howell. They were married in 1911, and George died in a flu epidemic in 1918, and Beulah was widowed here with the kids in 1920. She married Walter in 1921 and they have a daughter Evelyn Hensley 8 NC.

MARSHALL PUTNAM Snow Creek, Mitchell County

He is now 67 NC NC NC and his wife Etta Howell is 62 NC. He still operates his farm and his son Samuel now owns a portion as well. He is Marshall Harvey Putman Junior. He will be here until he dies in 1953.

SAM PUTNAM Snow Creek, Mitchell County

He is Samuel William Putman 32 NC NC NC and has part of his folk’s farm as a truck farm. He has been married 8 years to Nola Wilson but she is off somewhere now. He has Wilma E. 7, Hattie C. 6 and Georgia M. 4 all NC. Nola’s widowed mother is here though. Harriet Wilson is 73 NC. He is a son of Marshall Putnam and Etta Howell and was born here. He was born November 27, 1897. He was still at home in 1920. He married Nola Wilson in 1922, and died February 26, 1980 all in Mitchell County.

J. A. PUTMAN Rocky Mount, Nash County

He is 52 NC NC NC and out of work. His wife Vina is 35 NC.

ELLIE S. PUTNAM Greens Creek, Polk County

She is Ellie Sanders the widow of Jacob Putman and has been widowed here since the early 1900s. She is now 70 NC. Jacob was a son of Adolphus Putman and Elizabeth Elmira Putman (cousins) from Cleveland County.

JOHN PUTMAN Marks Creek, Richmond County

He is a Negro 42 NC.

ROBERT D. PUTMAN Wolf Pit, Richmond County

He is 62 SC SC SC and works in a cotton mill as does half his family. His wife Martha D. (Daisy) Odam is 50 SC and they have Robert D. Jr. 15, James D. 11 and then their daughter Ruth 20 and her husband Claud Flowers 21 all born in SC. He is a son of Alexander Putman and Elvira Brown from Laurens County. They were there in 1910 and in Richland County, SC in 1920.

CLATE PUTNAM Red Springs, Robeson County

He is 26 SC SC SC and a weaver in a cotton mill. His wife Onie Johnson is 19 SC and they have Edward 3 NC and Wallace 2 NC. Clayton is a son of Stephen Putman and Mattie Montjoy from Greenville County, SC. The whole family moved up to North Carolina in about 1925. His mom and brothers are in Cleveland County now.

LEE PUTMAN Salisbury, Rowan County

Edward Lee is 61 NC NC NC and is a machinist for the railroad. His wife Nannie Mahaley is 55 NC. They were here in 1910 and 1920. He is a son of Elias William Putman and Margaret Gilleland. He was home in Iredell County in 1870 and 1880 and single here in 1900. He married Nannie L. Mahaley here August 27, 1901 and used the name Lee then. Nannie was born in 1875 and died in Salisbury March 30, 1960. He died in Salisbury April 16, 1941.

LEWIS R. (ROBERT) PUTNAM Salisbury, Rowan County

He is now 63 NC NC NC and his wife Cora B. 54 NC. He is a son of Martin Van Buren Putman and Mary Bass from Duplin County. He was in Greenville, South Carolina in 1900 and here ever since. He will die in Salisbury on June 8, 1931

IRA PUTNAM Cool Spring, Rutherford County

He is 30 NC NC NC and single. He is staying with his sister Verdie 41 NC and her husband Samuel Woods. They were here in 1910 with their widowed mother Salle. No ideas yet on their father.

GROVER PUTMAN High Shoals, Rutherford County

He is 24 NC NC NC and a weaver in a textile mill. His wife Ada Belle Cole is 25 and they have Oneida 3 and Darrel 1 all NC. He is a son of William Andrew Putman and Mary Leona Pinson and was born here.

JAMES L. (LEE) PUTMAN High Shoals, Rutherford County

He is 31 NC NC NC and a truck driver for a cotton mill. The listing gets screwed up then. The wife and kids belong to some other listing. In 1920 he was married to Eula Bell Henson who would be 31 now, and they would have Virginia, Ernestine and Janette. He is a son of James A. Putman and Margaret Owens. He will be here till he dies in 1964.

JOHNNIE B. (BRISCOE) PUTMAN High Shoals, Rutherford County

He is 28 NC NC NC and is a doffer in a cotton mill. His wife Thursie Wheeler is 22 NC and a spinner in the mill. They have Johnnie B. Jr. 3 NC. He is a son of James Putman and Martha Jan Owens from here. He married Thursa Wheeler September 20, 1924.

MONROE PUTMAN High Shoals, Rutherford County

He is 26 NC NC NC as is his wife Ethel Dobbins. They were married a couple of years ago but won’t have any children till Judy is born in 1943. He is a son of William Putman and Betty Ann Owens from here.

WILLIAM PUTMAN High Shoals, Rutherford County

Billy is 58 NC NC NC and rents a farm. Betty Ann Owens his second wife is 38 and they have Alonzo 28 and Bessie 10 all NC. He is a son of Thomas Y. Putman and Sarah Jane Robbins and was born here. He was born August 23, 1876. He married Margaret Amanda Owens on December 30, 1896. She was born April 28, 1882 died on July 25, 1907. Billy then married her sister Betty Ann Owens on December 27, 1907. She was born October 2, 1891. Both were daughters of William L. Owens and Eva Malinda Allen. He died in High Shoals, Rutherford County on May 9, 1952. Betty died there on October 11, 1958

WILLIAM A. (ANDREW) PUTMAN High Shoals, Rutherford County

He is 44 NC NC NC and works in a cotton mill, as do most of his kids. His wife Mary Leona Pinson is 41 and they have Kenneth 20, Olive 19, George 17, Marie 10, James 5 and Stella 1 all born NC. He is a son of Samuel and Jane Putman and has been here all his life. He was born here June 4, 1884 and will die here September 14, 1962 at age 77. Mary was born here in 1888 and will die here November 16, 1961 at age 73.

QUINTEN PUTNAM Logan Store, Rutherford County

He is 24 NC NC NC single and boarding. No ideas. Probably a Pitman. There are a zillion of them around and they outnumber Putmans about 8 to 1.

ALBERT H. (HENRY) PUTNAM Rutherfordton, Rutherford County

He is 29 NC NC NC. His wife Gazzie M. Hord is 26, and they have Alvin H. 4 and Ruby 2 all NC. He is a son of Charles Franklin Putman and Betty Jane Kendrick from Cleveland County. He will be here till he dies September 11, 1987.

FRANK PUTNUM Rutherfordton, Rutherford County

He is 46 NC NC NC and a district manager for an insurance company. His wife Elizabeth is 36 NC and they have Margaret 1/12 NC. They have been married 2 years. I don’t find him earlier, probably not a Putman.

GEORGE W. PUTMAN Sulphur Springs, Rutherford County

He is 42 NC NC NC and his wife Mary 42 NC. He owns a farm. He is a son of Samuel W. and Jane Putman from here.

WILLIE PUTTMAN Vance, Union County

This is a large Negro family.

PERRY PUTMAN Wilkesboro, Wilkes County

He is 61 NC NC NC and his wife Queen is 59 NC. He owns a truck farm. They were here in 1920, but I have no idea who he is.

JANE PUTMAN Buck Shoal, Yadkin County

She is 72 NC and widowed. Amanda Jane Barnet is the widow of Robert Sylvanus Putman. They were here in 1910 and 1920 and earlier in Cleveland County where he was born. He was a son of Samuel L. Putman and Winnifred Long from there.

W. (WILLIAM) R. PUTNAM South Toe, Yancy County

He is 69 NC NC NC and his wife Alice is 65 VA. He owns a retail store.
