Westcott 39 VA, David 19 OH, Sara W. 14 OH, Betty C. 12 OH, Susan A. 8 OH, George C. 2 OH and May 9 months old. They will be here in 1870, and she will be widowed in 1880 and 1900.

ABNER PUTNAM Higginsport Township, Brown County
He is 50 VA, Emily M. 31 NY, Sarah E. 13 OH, Daniel 10 OH, Maria 5 OH. Then there is a Harriet Lucy 16 NY. If he is the one listed in 1850 Preble County as Aaron 39 VA, then Emily is a second wife and then Harriet looks like his stepdaughter or Emily's sister. Now, as to who he is. In 1810 there were only Putmans in Virginia in Fauquier and Hampshire Counties and John Putnam in Bath County, and Ernestus Putman from New York in Jefferson County. I guess he is Aaron and a son of Ernestus, and Dutch. Ernestus spent a period in Jefferson County, West Virginia, but it was part of Virginia until 1863.

The family came out here in 1817. In April 1841, he married Marianne Davis. She died in 1847. On December 19, 1850, Henry married Margaret Wolgamuth. Margaret was born May 15, 1831 and will die here December 6, 1901. There were no children in the first marriage and seven in the second. Henry was a farmer and very active in the Baptist church and the local schools. Henry will die here at the age of 98 on January 16, 1913.
DAVID PUTNAM Ohio Township, Clermont County
A son of John Putnam from New York. He was here in 1850 as was his dad. He is now 41 OH a plasterer, Ann E. Grenell 38 DC, Harriet 11 OH, John 10 OH and George 4 OH. And his dad, John 75 MA (should be NY) is still with him.
JOHN PUTMAN Ohio Township, Clermont County
He is 75 MA though was NY earlier. He's been here a long time and is still living with his son David Putman. A family bible states John was born in Johnstown, Montgomery County, New York in 1781. Dutch family out of New York State.
ARCHIE PUTNAM Yellow Creek, Columbiana County
Archibald is a son of Isaac Putnam and Mary Ann Brawley (Vermont folk that were here in 1850). He is 37 MD (should be OH), a carpenter living with his brother James who for some reason is listed as Obediah.
OBEDIAH (JAMES
HERBERT) PUTNAM Yellow Creek Township,
Columbiana County
In 1850 he was listed James H. Putman. The Obediah must be a clerical error. He is a son of Isaac Putnam born in Portage County, Ohio. He is now 41 OH, Mary Cunningham 34 PA, Rufus 15 OH, Thomas 11 OH, Archie 8 OH, Mary A. 5 OH, John 2 OH. Son of Peter Putman and Maria Schneider from Pennsylvania. He is 63 PA, Sarah 50 OH is his second wife, Esther must have died a while back. At home are Westel (?) 20 OH and Isabelle 17 OH. His brother Henry is living next door. Michael was born in 1796 and died in 1869. He was first married to an unknown woman and then on April 2, 1820 to Esther Landis. Michael junior was born in the first marriage. Michael and Esther had no children that there is any record of
ADALINE PUTNAM Cleveland Cuyahoga County
She is new here. She is 36 MA a bookbinder living with John Grannis. She was single in Boston, Massachusetts in 1850. No idea who she belongs to.
ELBRIDGE
PUTNAM Cleveland, Cuyahoga County
He is a railroad conductor listed 35 NY, Emily Adeline Melandy his wife is 30 VT. Also there is also here A. H. Kennedy, a female 28 VT. Emily and a bunch of kids will be in Deerfield, Mass. in the 1870 census. There is a record of an Elbridge being born in Deerfield in 1823 (Probably on the death record which was in Deerfield), but no parents listed. There was a note on Ancestry that his parents were Asa Putnam and Rhoda Hildrith. Asa was a son of Thomas Putnam (#189) and Rachel Weatherbee of Acworth New Hampshire. Emily was listed here as VA, but I corrected it to VT. Elbridge wasn’t born in NY, but in MA based on the info in the 1880. He was listed in 1850 as single in Bennington, Vermont. According to his wife’s family records he died here in 1866, and that’s why Emily returned to Massachusetts. She will die there in 1895.
E. G. PUTNAM Cleveland, Cuyahoga County
He is 25 NY and in a boarding house. He is a druggist.
HENRY PUTNAN Cleveland, Cuyahoga County
Another new arrival. He is 30 NY living with Lucius Pitkin. I think this is Henry Locke Putnam from Madison County, New York. At least that guy will be here in 1870 and onwards.
RANSOM PUTNAM Warrensville Township, Cuyahoga County
He was listed as Charles R. Putnam here in Newbury, Cuyahoga County in 1850. He is now 45 NY, his wife Abigail Anna Johnson has died. He still has these kids at home Cordelia is 22 NY, Henry 20 NY, Harriet 17 NY and Lucy 12 OH. There is also a George Wright 8 OH. Ransom was born March 12, 1815 and will die here August 21, 1890. This line goes back Charles R. > Charles (986) > Charles 385 and Martha Rose of Preston, Conn. > Eleazer > Eleazer > John > John Putnam.
DAVID PUTNAM German Township, Darke County
He is 39 OH, Sarah Mills 38 OH, and there are two boarders. He is a son of Ernestus Putman and Elizabeth Gray from Darke County where he was born August 4, 1821. He is a lawyer. He is Edwin Brice Putnam, son of Franklin Putnam and Anna Brice. His father has recently died. He is an attorney 31 OH. Martha J. Wilson his wife is 21 OH. She is a daughter of Judge William Martin Wilson and Louisa Dosey. The rest of this listing is in this order: Anna G. Brice Putnam, his mother, 52 PA, James Franklin his brother 20 OH, William Davis his brother 18 OH, Louisa 1 month old and probably Edwin's daughter, Metella Putnam18 OH. I have no idea who Metella, a female Putnam, is. She might be a wife of one of the brothers, or just a niece or cousin of sorts. Edwin will die here April 11, 1868.
WILLIAM PUTNAM German Township, Darke County
He is 19 OH and must be William Davis Putnam son of Franklin and Anna Putnam. He is also listed with his brother Edwin and the rest of his family. This has to be a double listing.
LEWIS PUTMAN Sandusky Township, Erie County
He is William Lewis Putman, son of Jacob Putman and Hannah Lewis from Cayuga County, New York. Dutch family. He is 29 NY and a brakeman on the railroad, Caroline 28 NY and Jennie 5 NY. They are in a hotel or boarding house with a bunch of other folks. Lewis married Caroline Burnham back in New York on October 24, 1854 and they moved here a short time back.

He was here in 1830 through 1850. He is 68 PA, Susan 62 PA, Mary 40 PA, Louisa 29 PA, Samuel 12 OH and Laura Lynch a servant 19 OH. Now, Mary and Samuel were not with this family in 1850. In 1850 there was a Samuel Skidd age 2 OH living next door with his father Samuel. I just bet Peter took him in and Mary was his mother and their names are actually Skidd. There were no sons shown in the 1850 for Peter, but he did have them in 1840 so maybe Mary is a daughter in law and Sam her kid. Just don’t know. He is a son of John Putman and Sarah Schneider of Frederick County Maryland and then Somerset County Pennsylvania. John was a son of Andrew and Catherine Putman German family from Maryland via Pennsylvania.
ANTHONY
PUTTMAN Cincinnati, Hamilton County
Still here. He is now 34 and his sister Catherine is 46, both from Germany. With him are Henry 17, Margaret 15 OH and Ferdinand 16 (should be 21) Prussia. (Clementine) 12 OH, and Albert B. 10 OH. Still not positive on Calvin, but in this 1860 census he is in South Danvers, Massachusetts and boarding. Looks like he has divorced Belinda. She is listed as farm manager so it sees she is on her own. She will be here without Calvin through the 1880.
DAVID PUTNAM Townsend Township, Huron County
He was here in 1850 as was his mother Mary. His father David from Madison County, New York had died in the 1840s. This family will be in Mercer County, Missouri in 1880. David is 38 NY, Lucy Ann Hardy is 29 NY, Selma 6 OH, Clark 5 OH and Delos a son 3 OH. Delos is a family name, but this kid will be listed as David in 1880. Delos will die in Arizona in 1918. David’s brother is named Ansel Deloss. Delos will be in South Dakota in 1900. Think they are part of the Dutch family, but not positive.

EMANUEL PUTMAN Dublin Township, Mercer County
There are going to be two listings here. In this one he heads his family, has his mother and brothers with him. Then you will see later a listing for Jane Putman and all this mob again. In the census, the listings are two page apart, but are same family, but ages are a little off. I guess they moved to a new house and listed at both. Anyway, this listing shows him 28 PA, Eliza 23 OH, Cynthia 1 OH, William J. 10 OH (no idea who he is), Lizzie his mother 60 PA, and then his brothers William 30 PA and Philip 26 PA. The 10 year old William does not show up in the listing under Jane Putman. In 1880, Emanuel is listed as Daniel. I believe Emanuel to be correct. And I don’t know who his dad was. Some 13 people were killed when he drove his train in front of another one at a Switch Station. He was accused of manslaughter. He is living with his brother Harrison Putnam. He is a son of Jasper Wheeler Putnam (3105) and Mary Kimball. He was born in Grafton, Mass. April 14, 1828.
