WILLIAM H. (HENRY) PUTNAM  Cumberland, Barron County

He is 29 MI NY and a station agent for the railroad. His wife Frances E. Currie is 29 WI CAN. They have Daniel C. 19 WI and Ethel M. and adopted daughter 8 WI. He is a son of Abram and Mary Putman as shown at home in 1880 in Leslie, Ingham County, Michigan. They were in Jackson County in 1900. They are here in 1910 and in Duluth, Minnesota in 1920 and 1930.

 

FRANK PUTNAM  Dovre, Barron County

He is 20 WI WI NY and a laborer on the Myers farm. He was here in 1900 with his mother Clara. No idea as to his dad though. He will be with his mom in Chippewa County in 1910

 

MARY PUTMAN  Allouez, Brown County

She is 40 WI and married. She is Mary Gaw and was married to Prescott Putnam in De Pere in 1900. Divorced I guess as he married Caroline Wright in 1901 and they are there now and in 1910 and Carrie is widowed by 1920.

 

MARION PUTMAN  Allouez, Brown County

She is 18 WI and boarding. Don’t find her in 1900 or 1910. She’s not part of Prescott and Mary’s family.

 

ANTON PUTMAN De Pere, Brown County

He is 22 WI. His wife Jennie (Jane Thomas) 21 WI and their son Thomas 1 WI. He is a son of Antone Puttemanns and Margaret Osterman. The family was from Belgium and the grandfather Henry Puttemanns came over here about 1856. He was overlooked in 1900, but they are here in 1910 and will be till he dies in 1953, Jane in 1977.

 

LESLIE PUTMAN  De Pere, Brown County

He is 30 WI NOVA SCOTIA and his wife Molly Johnson is 30 WI DENMARK. They have Merlin or Melvin 5 WI and Priscilla 1 WI. His widowed father Alexander 78 NOVA SCOTIA Is still with them as he was in 1900. His mother Rosanna died in the 1890s. Leslie married Molly here December 21, 1898. They are here through 1930 and longer. New England family originally.

 

P. (PRESCOTT) N. PUTMAN  De Pere, Brown County

He is 50 NOVA SCOTIA and his wife Caroline Wright 50 WI. Carrie is his second wife, they were married here in 1901. His first wife Mary Gaw is listed earlier in Allouz. He is a son of Alexander and Rosanna Putnam from here and Nova Scotia before that.

 

DUTON PUTMAN  Green Bay, Brown County

He is listed as 23 WI, his wife Jennie 21 WI. They have a son Thomas 1 WI. They live with her folks. This is another misindexed entry and I can’t see it.

 

PAULINE PUTMAN  Green Bay, Brown County

She is about 55 SWITZ and widowed. Her daughter Annie 30 WI and her husband Edward Weismiller 33 WI are here as well. By 1910 Annie is here without Eddie. She had married A. G. Putnam in Green County on November 24, 1886. She’ll be here in 1930 at age 80 and Annie will still be here then too.

 

THOMAS (ANTONE) PUTMAN  Green Bay, Brown County

He is Antone Puttemanns 50 WI and his wife Margaret Ostermann is 43 WI. They have Tony (Anton) 22 WI, Tillie 17 WI and Mammie 9 WI. He is indexed as Thomas again in 1910 and then Antone in 1920. Thomas must be a middle name or he pronounced it as ‘Ton. . A descendant says his father was Henry Puttemanns, who brought his family to Wisconsin in about 1858. The have been spelled as Pittmann before. From Belgium originally.

 

GEORGE PUTMAN  Preble, Brown County

He is 48 NY NY and divorced. He has his three sons with him. Claude 19 WI, Elmer 14 WI and Frank 10 WI. In 1900 he was in Green Bay with his wife Mary and more kids. I don’t find any of them in 1910, but Mary is in Milwaukee in 1920. He is a son of George and Nancy who are still back in Outagamie County. New York Dutch family.

 

DAPHINE PUTMAN  Mondovi, Buffalo County

She is 24 WI single and a teacher. She is a daughter of Wilton Putnam and Dora Park from Waukesha County. She was home with his widowed mother in 1900 and will be married to Henry Otjen and with her in Milwaukee in 1910 and 1920.

 

CLARA PUTNAM  Anson, Chippewa County

She is 39 WI NY and now widowed. She has Frank 20 WI, Arthur 15 WI, Hester 12 WI and Jay a son 8 WI. They were in Barron County in 1900. She was widowed then, and no clue to the dad except he was from Vermont. Probably connected to the family of John Putnam from Vermont and in Chippewa County in 1880. Clara is here with her son Frank in 1910. Arthur is nearby and Hester married by then. In 1920 Clara is with her other son John in Price County.

 

JOHN PUTNAM  Anson, Chippewa County

He is 18 WI WI and working on the Cameron farm. He is a son of Clara Putnam here in town. He will marry a girl named Rose in 1909 and they are in Price County in 1910. They are there in 1920 and Clara is with them. Then John and Rose and their kids are all in Michigan by 1930.

 

JOHN B. (BROWN) PUTNAM  Chippewa Falls, Chippewa County

He is 58 WI VT and an insurance Agent. His wife of 35 years Julia Adeline Wells is 56 CAN and they have Archie L. 20 WI, Emmet 30 WI and his wife Alice Keturah Whitman 23 CAN. Emmett and Katurah are also listed in a boarding house here in town. John was born here, a son of William Barron Putnam and Esther Brown from Vermont before that. They are here in 1910. He will die here August 15, 1919, and Addie will be here in 1920.

 

WILLIAM PUTMAN  Chippewa Falls, Chippewa County

He is 52 NY NY and a farm laborer. His wife Georgia is 44 WI. He is a son of Henry Putman and Elizabeth Emhoff from Jefferson County, NY and then in Sparta, Monroe County, WI. Dutch family. He will be here till he dies in 1933.

 

SAMANTHA PUTNAM  Eagle Point, Chippewa County

She is 85 NY VT CT and lives with a Neitzel family. She is an unwed daughter of Samuel Putnam (1898) and Zenia Green of Clayton, Jefferson County, NY. She was home in 1860. She was here in 1900 living with her sister Sarah Dunston. She will die here December 27, 1906, hopefully after a nice Christmas.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Dorchester, Clark County

He is 32 WI NY IL and his wife Anna Metzger is 30 WI GER. He is an engineer. He is a son of Cyrus Putnam and Harriet Sanderson from Green County. He and Annie were here in Mayville, Clark County in 1900 and 1910. They are in Taylor County in 1920.

 

GUY PUTMAN  Loyal, Clark County

He is 22 IL, his sister Iva 19 WI, Flora 16 WI and Silas listed as a girl is 14 WI. Actually they were all born in Illinois. They live with their mother Ella 41 IL IRE and her husband William Meeks 46 IL. They were all in Rockton, Winnebago County Illinois in 1900. Their mother is Ella Flynn Putnam who married Omer Putnam there on September 28, 1881. He died in 1898 or 1899, and she just remarried William Meeks in 1900. They are here in Loyal, Clark County Wisconsin in 1910 and 1920. Guy will be in Kansas City Missouri single in 1910 and married there in 1920 and 1930.

 

ERNEST W. (WESLEY) PUTMAN  Mentor, Clark County

He is 30 WI NY WI, Clara Maude Bangle, his wife is 24 WI CAN WI, Helen 5 WI, Marie 2 WI, Ernest 3/12 WI. He lives next to his folks John Putman and Amanda Nokes. Been here all his life.

 

JOHN S. PUTMAN  Mentor, Clark County

He is 54 NY NY and now an invalid. His wife Amanda Paulina Nokes is 50 NY NY and at home are Russell H. 24 WI NY and Lila M. 15 WI NY. John Putman is a son of Henry Putman and Elizabeth Emhoff from Jefferson County New York and then in Sparta, Monroe County Wisconsin. Dutch family.

 

JOHN PUTNAM  Fall River, Columbia County

He is 32 WI, his brother Ezra 45 WI and his mother Eliza (listed wrongly as Ida) is 60 WI. Mom was widowed in Dodge County with the kids in 1860 and 1870 and here since. They are around in 1910, and the kids through 1930.

 

CHARLEY PUTNAM  Madison, Dane County

He is 25 IL NY single and boarding. He is a son of William and Catherine Putnam. He was 9 months old in 1880 with them in Plano, Kendall County Illinois. New York Dutch Family.

 

CLARK M. (MILTON) PUTNAM  Madison, Dane County

He is 36 NY NY NY. An insurance agent. Grace Rogers, his wife of 7 years, is 25 WI and they have Grace 5 WI. They were here in 1900. He is the son of Alfred Putnam and Mary Ackerman. He was with them in Eaton County, Michigan in 1870 and here in Sheboygan in 1880. They are here in 1905 through 1920.

 

ROBERT H. PUTNAM  Madison, Dane County

He is a lineman 29 WI MA. His wife Dorothy C. Pierson is 29 WI DEN. They have Robert J. 7 WI. He is a son of Alexander and Rosanna Putnam from De Pere, Brown County. Dorothy was there with Robert in 1900. They are all here through 1920. Young Robert is married by 1930.

 

RUTH PUTNAM  Madison, Dane County

She is 46 WI VA OH and her daughter Mary is 20 ND. She has a nephew Victor Frame 4 WI. In 1910 she calls him an adopted son, and then a nephew again in 1920. Ruth Calloway was married to George Henry Putnam here through 1900. He was a son of George W. Putnam and Martha Rebecca Brewer, and was in Richland County in 1880. He and Ruth were married in Crawford County December 25, 1883. Ruth says she is married, but from here on she is on her own so I assume they split up. She is here through 1920.

 

HARPER PUTMAN  Oregon, Dane County

He is now 58 NY NY NY, and Emma Andrews Smith 58 NY and their son Arthur 14 WI. They have been here married for 35 years now. He is a son of John and Catherine Putnam from here in Oregon. He’s been here since he was 3 years old. They are here in 1910 and Emma is widowed here by 1920.

 

ANNA J. (JOHANNA) PUTMAN  Gibraltar, Door County

She is 29 WI, Ensor 9 WI and Gladys 6 WI. Anna Johanna Nelson is the widow of Orson Andrew Putman. They were married September 6, 1893. Orson died here July 6, 1899 leaving her widowed. She had these kids with her in 1900. She still lives with her folks Carl 66 NORWAY and Maria 72 NOR Nelson. Ensor is married here in 1920. Guess Annie got remarried by then too.

 

ALONZO S. (SYLVESTER) PUTNAM  Sturgeon Bay, Door County

He is 41 IL UN UN, Lucretia Catherine Johnson, his wife of 17 years, is 36 CAN, Hubert A. 16 WI, Phyllis M. 5 WI, Edgar D. 2 WI. He is a liveryman and has a domestic servant. He is a son of John and Sarah Putman and was with them here in 1880. He was born back in Aurora, Kane County Illinois February 5, 1864. He and Lucretia were married here March 29, 1887 and here in the 1900 census. They are here in 1910. He will die May 22, 1917, and Lucretia will be widowed in Chicago, Illinois in 1920 living with her son Hubert and his wife Ella.

 

CHARLES W. PUTNAM  Superior, Douglas County

He is 36 WI WI and a chief clerk in the Railroad office. His wife Clara Brown 40 WI and they have Isla 11 WI, Emmett O. 8 WI and Ina M. 5 WI. They also have a second listing with the ages a couple of years older. He is a son of John B. and Addie Putnam, and was at home with them in Auburn, Chippewa County in 1880. He married Clara here on October 11, 1892. They are here still in 1910, and then in Colusa County California by 1920 through 1930 and I am sure longer.

 

HENRY C. (CLEVELAND)  PUTMAN  Eau Claire, Eau Claire County

He is 73 NY NY NY and his wife Jane Balcom is 72 NY NY NY. He has three servants living with him. He is a son of Hamilton Putman and Jeanette Cleveland from Cortland, Cortland County, New York. He has been here since the 1850s. He will be widowed here in 1910 and gone by 1920.

 

JAMES PUTMAN  Wingville, Grant County

He is 64 CAN CAN NY and works in a creamery. His wife Lydia Dulcia Wheeler is 57 WI and their son James is 12 WI. He is a son of William Putnam and Rachel Scott and was born in Prince Edward County Canada January 15, 1841. They were in Fennimore, Grant County in 1900 and are here in 1910. New England family originally, and the name should be spelled Putnam.

 

SARAH C. PUTNAM  Albany, Green County

She is 69 OH widowed as she has been. She was married to Hiram Putnam through 1880. She is here in 1910. She married Hiram back in Licking County, Ohio before the whole gang moved up here. Hiram was a son of John Jacob Putman and Magdalena Fleck. Been here since the 1840s. German family from Hampshire County Virginia, and then Licking County Ohio where he was born.

 

HENRY C. (CLAY) PUTNAM  Brodhead, Green County

He is listed with no age WI NY. He is president of a bank. He has Ida Eugene with him as he did in 1900. She is a servant and was 26 then and is 26 now. Oh well. He is a son of John Jacob Putman and Magdalena Fleck. Been here since the 1840s. German family from Hampshire County, Virginia and then Licking County, Ohio where he was born. Been here for ages.

 

MARIETTE PUTNAM  Brodhead, Green County

She is 69 NH NH. She says she is married but lives alone. Can’t find her earlier anywhere.

 

ALLEN PUTMAN  Brooklyn, Green County

He is listed in Brooklyn, Green County but was in Rock County in 1900 and will be in 1910, so this may be a bad index. He is 42 WI, his wife Cora Calvert is 39 WI and Raymond 13 WI, Bernard 12 WI and Louis 3 WI. He was here in 1900 and they are all here in 1910. He is a son of Lafayette and Melissa Putman and was at home with them in Sheboygan County in 1870.

 

GERTRUDE PUTMAN  Berlin, Green Lake County

She is 42 WI. She is boarding and says she is widowed. She was here in 1900 and will be in 1910 and says she is divorced then. Not sure as to her ex-husband. He might be Selim’s son Edwin who is missing in this census. Edwin will be back with his folks in 1910 though.

He is 72 VT and retired. His wife Gertrude E. Towne is 58 OH. He’s been here since the 1850s. Gertrude is his second wife. They were married here July 4, 1890. He’s Leander and Martha’s son from Washington County, Vermont. They are here in 1910.

 

CLAUDE PUTNAM  Waupun, Fond du Lac County

24 WI NY single and a clerk in a hardware store. He was single in Dane County in 1900 and will be here in 1910. He will be married here by 1920. He is a son of Isaac Harper Putnam and Emma Smith from Oregon, Dane County.

 

HENRY PUTMAN  Dodgeville, Iowa County

He is about 43 CT MA ENG, single and boarding. Also can’t find him in Connecticut in 1870.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Argyle, Lafayette County

 He is 40 WI ENG, his wife Anna C. Reed 40 WI and they have Jimmie 12 WI, Jennie 10 WI, Charles 7 WI, William 5 WI and Glenn 2 WI. He is a son of Theron and Elizabeth Putnam. He was at home with them here in 1880 and married here in 1900. They are here in 1910 and 1920. Dutch family from New York State.

 

FANNY PUTMAN  Darlington, Lafayette County

She is 38 WI and widowed. She has Edna 13 WI, Roy 6 WI and Merle 3 WI. Fannie Louise Stott is the widow of William Putnam. He was a son of Theron and Elizabeth Putnam. He was home with them here in 1870 and 1880. They were here in 1900. Her folks John and Sarah Stott live next door or probably she is in their house. She is still widowed here with her mom in 1910 and 1920.

He is 77 NY NY. His wife Angie M. is 61 MA and her daughter Elenor Rounds is 26 MA. Angie is widowed here in 1910 and Elenore’s name is Houghton then. Anyway, he was single here in 1900 and that was the first time I have seen him in ages. He is son of William Witt Putnam and Philena Buck of Bethel, Windsor County, Vermont. His wife Sophia has died in the late 1800s.

He is 37 WI VT and a mail carrier. His wife Vernetta M. is 35 WI and they have James Leslie 11 WI. He is a son of George Washington Putnam and Martha Rebecca Brewer. The family was in Wallingford, Rutland County, Vermont in 1850 and then here in Dane County by 1860. Israel was at home in Richland County in 1880, and married there in 1900. They are here now through 1930 at least.

He is listed as 2 WI a grandson of George S. Putman and Leora DeLine. George and Leora are from McHenry County Illinois and are back there now.

He is a shoemaker 24 WI WI and his wife Annie Ohl is 22 WI GER. They have Helen 6/12 WI. He is a son of Albert and Agnes Putman. He was at home with them in Milwaukee in 1900. He married Anna here March 28, 1903. They are in Jefferson County in 1910. They are in Milwaukee in 1920 and 1930.

He is 66 NH NH and boarding. He is an Agent for something. He looks like George Putnam, son of George Putnam and Elizabeth Perkins of Charlestown, NH. He and his wife Emily Alice Jackson were in Pottawattamie County Iowa in 1900.

He is 57 WI NY MA and his brand new wife Mollie Claymier 32 WI GER. They were married here May 14, 1903. They are here in 1910 and 1920 too. He is a son of Aaron and Maria Putnam from New York. He was born in Racine, Racine County. He was married to Ida here in 1880, and widowed in 1900. He works for the railroad, as he has for many years.

He is 24 GER GER and says he is married but lives alone. He did marry Etta Lathrop. Also found the marriage record of December 24, 1904 here in Milwaukee. They are here in 1910 and 1920.

He is 19 WI WI and is a telegraph operator. His widowed mother Agnes 47 GER and sister Lillian 7 WI are with him. He was here with his folks Albert and Agnes in 1900. He is single here in 1910 and married by 1920. Albert was a son of Lafayette and Melissa Putman from Sheboygan County. Lafe was a son of Aaron Putman from Cayuga County NY, and Montgomery County before that. Dutch family.

 

KIRK M. PUTNAM  Wauwatosa, Milwaukee County

He is 35 KS VT MA and his wife Martha M. Ellis is 35 WI. They have been married 10 years and have Ellis L. 9 WI, Julia 172 WI, Ruth A. 2 WI. Martha’s sisters Ruth Ellis 21 SD and Evelyn Ellis 17 MI are with them. He is a son of Robert W. and Julia Putnam and was born in Leavenworth, Kansas and has been here since the 1880s. He is a store manager. They are in Minneapolis by 1920 and his widowed mother Julia will be with them.

She is 80 MA MA and still widowed as she was in 1900. In 1880 was married to William Barron Putnam a clergyman from Vermont. She is still here in 1910 at age 85.

 

STEPHEN & NELLI PUTMAN  La Grange, Monroe County

He is a single male age 12 born in Stockbridge. He is an Indian on a reservation. His sister Nellie age 14 is on the same reservation. Fred is a son of Stephen Putnam and his first wife Caroline Wheeler from Winnebago County, Illinois. He was there in 1870, and then I lose him in 1880. They are married in Chickasaw County Iowa though in 1900. Della’s family was there in 1900 too. That’s where they met and married. They are kids of Fred and Della Putnam. Della is Indian and a daughter of John Hamilton Putman. John’s wife Basheba was a full blooded Indian. John Putman is Dutch from New York State. Fred is a New Englander. They are in Shawano County in 1910, which is a large Indian Territory.

 

GEORGE PUTMAN  Sparta, Monroe County

He is 56 NY NY and his wife Margaret Jane Brooks is 55 OH OH. At home still are Ira 17 WI, Earl 13 WI and Florence 9 WI. He is a son of Isaac Putman and Mary Duel. Isaac is a son of Solomon Putman and Margaret Walrath.  Dutch family from Jefferson County New York. Margaret will die here in 1907, and George will marry Mary Dinger here in Sparta around 1910, and they will be in Washington County, Oregon by the 1920 census. Mary was married to his cousin Isaac Van Rensselaer Putman who died here in 1908.

 

ISAAC PUTMAN  Sparta, Monroe County

He is Isaac Van Rensselaer Putman 76 NY NY, his second wife Mary C. Dinger 45 GER and Nora 19 WI. He is a son of Henry Putman and Elizabeth Emhoff from Jefferson County, NY. He was born August 21, 1836 in Herkimer County New York. He was in Eau Clair County in 1900 and here before that. He will die here February 28, 1908.

 

JACOB PUTMAN  Sparta, Monroe County

Jacob Roswell Putman is 22 NY OH and his wife Margaret Ann Young is 22 WI. He is a well driller and they were just married October 10. 1903. He is a son of George Lewis Putman and Margaret Jane Brooks, and was born right here. They are here through1930. Dutch family originally from New York State.

 

MILTON E. (ELMER) PUTMAN  Sparta, Monroe County

He is 33 WI NY, his second wife Ida B. Lorenze is 28 WI GER, and they have George E. 11 WI, Esther 7 WI, Sadie 3 WI and Pearl 1 WI. George and Esther are kids with Milton’s first wife Mary Reitz who died in 1899. He and Ida were married here November 3, 1900. He is a son of George Lewis Putman and Margaret Jane Brooks, and was born right here. New York Dutch family.

 

ELIZA  & HAZEL PUTMAN  Wells, Monroe County

Eliza is 16 WI and Hazel 12 WI. They are listed as stepdaughters of James and Ella Ripley. Ella Nichols 43 WI is their mom. Lester Putman was married to Ella Nichols, who has remarried James W. Ripley. They got a divorce in the late 1890s. Lester was a son of Isaac Putman and Mary Duel from here. He is remarried and in Nebraska now. Ella is with James Ripley and her daughter Hazel in Angelo Center, Monroe County in 1910. Dutch family.

 

RUSSELL PUTNAM  Oconto Falls, Oconto County

He is 25 WI WI and works in a paper mill. His wife Ida Wolfe is 24 WI GER. They were just married in Marinette County in 1900, and are here in 1910 and 1920 with a couple of kids.

 

LOUIS J. PUTMAN  Appleton, Outagamie County

He is 27 IA NY and a civil engineer. His wife Catherine L. is 27 WI CAN and they have Kathryn M. 1/12 WI. He is a son of Henry Harold Putnam and Elvira Ann Stanclift from Delaware County Iowa. Family was originally from Connecticut. Louis was at home in 1880. Not sure where he was in 1900.

 

SARAH PUTMAN  Appleton, Outagamie County

She is 87 IN KY TN and widowed. She is living with her granddaughter Ada Marsh 35 WI PA and her husband Edward Marsh 38 WI IRE NS and their kids. Sarah Campbell is the widow of Edwin Putnam from Winnebago County. Ada is a daughter of her son Thomas Putnam and his wife Lillie from Winnebago County. They were all living together there in 1880.

 

GEORGE W. PUTNAM  Seymour, Outagamie County

He is 73 NY NY and retired. His wife Nancy is also 73 NY. They have a grandson Victor 14 WI. Victor was with them in 1900 and probably belongs to their son Wilbur who was missing then and now. Nancy is widowed here in 1910 and will still be in 1920 and living with her son Nelson. He is a son of Cornelius and Clarissa Putman from Onondaga County, NY. The family is Dutch.

 

NELSON J. PUTNAM  Seymour, Outagamie County

He is a carpenter 41 NY NY and his wife Cora M. 34 WI ME. They have Blanche 13 WI, Orilla 12 WI, Vernon 9 WI, Nancy 7 WI, Nelson 5 WI and Sarah 1 WI. He is a son of George and Nancy Putman from here. They were in Brown County in 1900 and will be here in 1910. They then will be in Rock County in 1920 and his then widowed mother Nancy will be with him. Dutch family from Onondaga County, New York.

 

WILLIAM H. PUTNAM  River Falls, Pierce County

He is 45 WI CT CT, Mattie L. Foster his wife of 15 years is 38 WI IL NY. They have a nephew Edward L. Thomas 15 IL ENG and niece Louise Thomas 14 IL with them. He is a son of John Day Putnam and Catherine Lovell from here and Connecticut before that. William married Mattie L. Foster in River Falls, Wisconsin on May 21, 1890. He is the city treasurer here in River Falls. He and Mattie are here in 1910 and 1920, still no kids.

 

LYDIA L. PUTNAM  Eureka, Polk County

She is divorced as she was in 1900. She is 56 MI ME NY. She has Calvin Wilson 21 WI MI from her first marriage and Stephen A. Putnam 14 MN NY MI from her second. Then living next door is her married son Ernest Wilson 36 MI and his family. Ernest and his wife Jessie are gone in 1910, but their 4 kids are here with Lydia.

 

WEBSTER PUTNAM  Racine, Racine County

He is 48 NY NY, and his wife Mary 45 PA, William 21 PA and Webster Junior 16 WI. Also here is their married daughter Lillian 18 WI and her husband Charles J. Tulley 23 OH. They were here in 1900 and still are in 1910. Lillian has divorced by 1910 and married  William Schetle by 1920. They are in Milwaukee in 1920. He is a son of Jacob and Mary Putman from Albany, New York. He was home there in 1860. Dutch family from New York State.

 

FRED E. PUTNAM  Orion, Richland County

He is 43 WI, Luella Jane Bobb 45 WI, Peter F. 19 WI, Ralph A. 15 WI, Florence M. 8 WI. He is a son of George Washington Putnam and Martha Brewer. He was at home in 1880 in Marshall, Richland County. He married Louella here September 4, 1884. Her widowed father Peter F. Bobb 86 MD GER GER is next door as is her brother Frank Bobb 35 IA and his family. They are here still in 1910. Then they will be in Stanislaus County, California in 1920.

 

JOHN PUTNAM  Beloit, Rock County

He is now 19 WI NY NY. He is a son of Sylvester Putnam and Laura Chatterton from Dane County and then here where he died April 13, 1900. He is living with his mother Laura 49 NY NY CAN and her new husband August Johoepsky 52 GER.

 

CHARLES T. PUTNAM  Janesville, Rock County

He is a merchant 45 WI NY. His wife Harriet M. Lappin is 43 WI. They are with her widowed mother Mary Jane Lappin 77 NY as they were in 1900 and still are in 1910. . He is a son of Sereno and Jane Putnam and was born here. He was still single at home in 1900, and will be here in 1910 and 1920 with Harriet. New England family.

 

H. (HARRY) PUTMAN  Janesville, Rock County

He is 58 MA MA and his wife Mary Dippen is 41 WI GA. They have at home Parker 19 WI and Cora 16 WI. He grows tobacco leaves. They were here in 1900. Mary is widowed here in 1910 and 1920. Don’t know Harry’s line. I can’t find him in Mass. in 1850 or 1860 or out here in 1880.

 

CARRIE PUTMAN  Union, Rock County

She is 32 WI and widowed as she was in 1900. At home are 3a 13 WI, Bessie 11 WI, Lottie 9 WI and Frank 8 WI. She was married Albert F. Putnam here on November 25, 1891. He died around 1897. She will marry Clarence Bullock in 1907, and be here with him and the kids in 1910 and 1920.

 

MATT C. (CARPENTER) PUTNAM  Flambeau, Rusk County

He is 26 WI OH WI single and operating a farm with two laborers living with him. He is a son of Oliver Shakespeare Putman and Alice Makvina Copp from Brodhead, Green County. He was there in 1880 and in 1900. He will marry Carrie Patterson here on October 26, 1905 and they are back in Brodhead in 1910 and on. German family from Hampshire County Virginia.

 

FRANK PUTNAM  Ladysmith, Rusk County

He is 32WI VT CAN, Agnes Noteman his wife of 10 years is 27 WI, Gale O. a son 7 WI, his twin Gladys M. 7 WI. He is a son of John B. Putnam and Addie Wells, and was born in Chippewa Falls. He was at home with his folks in 1880, and was there in 1900 with Agnes. He and Agnes are still here in 1910 and 1920.

 

JOHN E. PUTMAN  Birnamwood, Shawano County

He is 49 CAN CAN and his wife Ella 47 MI MI. He was here in 1900 married two years to Rose who would be 41 OH now. They said they were each married twice. Ella would be wife three. They are gone by 1910.

 

W. C. PUTNAM  Mattoon, Shawano County

He is 33 WI NY single and boarding in a hotel.

 

FRED PUTNAM  Menominee Indian Reservation, Shawano County

He is 40 WI and his wife Della Putman is also 40 WI. They have Nellie 16 WI, Henry (Stephen in 1910) 14 WI, Elbert (Elrod in 1910) 12 WI, Lizzy 9 WI, Katy 6, WI, Mary 3 WI and Frank 1/12 WI. Also here is his brother Albert 36 WI and his mother Basheba 73 WI (should be NY). Fred is a son of Stephen Putnam and his first wife Caroline Wheeler from Winnebago County, Illinois. New England line. He was there in 1870. Then Della. She is a daughter of John Hamilton and Basheba Putman from Montgomery County New York. Basheba was a Stockbridge Mohegan Indian and so Della is Indian as well. John Hamilton is on the Dutch line and is here in the County now. Fred and the family were in Butler County Iowa in the 1895 State Census and Chickasaw County Iowa in 1900. They are here in Shawano County in 1910, 1920 and 1930.

He is 38 WI NY and his wife Lena Maurer 32 WI GER. He says he is a capitalist. Good for him! He is a son of Gilbert and Catherine Putnam. He was born here, and married here in 1900. They are here in 1910 and Lena is widowed here in 1920 and 1930. Dutch folks from New York State.

He is a Doctor 61 NY NY and widowed. His daughter Katie is 22 WI and divorced. She has a daughter Vivian 2 WI. He was married to Sarah Smith in La Crosse County and she died in the late 1890s. He was widowed there with Katie in 1900. He is a son of Isaac Putman and Mary Duel from Jefferson County, NY and then here in Sparta, Wisconsin. Dutch family from New York State.

 

SETH PUTNAM  Arcadia, Trempealeau County

He is widowed and 76 VT MA. He is a carpenter. His married daughter Jessie Farber 34 WI and her husband George Farber 39 MN are with him. They are all here in 1910. He was here in 1880 and 1900 with different wives each time. I think he is a son of John Putnam and Frances Stone of Cabot, Vermont.

 

LESTER G. PUTNAM  Trempealeau, Trempealeau County

He is 32 MN NY MN, and his wife Grace is 29 MN, and Gayle a son 4 WI. He is a son of Charles J. Putnam and Harriet Irwin from New York State. He was in Winona County Minnesota with them in 1880 and married there in 1900. They are still here in 1910 and 1920.

 

EUGENE PUTNAM  Darien, Walworth County

He is 26 WI NY IL single and a farm worker. I would guess he is the son of John Putnam and Addie Wells from Auburn, Chippewa County. He was there in 11880 and 1900. I don’t find him after this.

 

GEORGE W. PUTNAM  Darien, Walworth County

He is 67 VT MA NH, Eliza Jane his wife of 40 years now is 59 VT VT VT. They have Earl Dodge 16 WI and Harold Dodge 11 WI listed as grandsons with them. He is a son of Daniel Putnam (1834) and Rebecca Jane Carlton. He was at home in 1850 and 1860 in Rock County. In 1870 he was still in Rock County, and married to Eliza. They were here in 1900 and will be in 1910. Eliza will be widowed here in 1920.

 

JOSEPHINE PUTMAN  Darien, Walworth County

She is 49 IL and has Frederick R. 20 WI, Maude 19 WI and Emma J. 16 WI. She was here in 1900 and married then to Warren Putnam. She is here in 1910 and says she is divorced then. No idea where Warren is now. Fred is married to Helen in Fond du Lac County in 1910 and Dodge County in 1920 and 1930.

 

MONROE PUTMAN  Walworth, Walworth County

He is a baker 52 IL NY. His wife Etta Ann Holister is 45 IL IL and they now have at home Pearle 17 WI, Clyde 16 WI, Glenn 8 WI, Leo 6 WI and Roy 3 WI. James Monroe is a son of Frederick and Jane Putman from Linn, Walworth County. He and Etta were married here April 22, 1884. He was at home back in 1860 and 1870. They are here through 1930 and longer.

 

FRED PUTMAN  Dakota, Waukesha County

He is 27 WI Jun 1878 and a hired hand of Hans Larson. He is a son of Jacob and Mary Putnam from Waushara County. He’ll be in Monroe County, Wisconsin in 1910, and in Houston County, Minnesota in 1920.

 

ROY PUTMAN  Oconomowoc, Waukesha County

He is 22 WI WI single and boarding. He will be in 1910 married to Lena Brandt. The marriage record reads William Putnam and Lena Brandt November 20, 1906. So Roy must be his middle name. He will be here in the County in 1920 with a new wife Sarah from Norway. He and Sarah are in Rock County in 1930. Can’t figure his folks though, probably Dutch.

 

WARD PUTMAN  Oconomowoc, Waukesha County

He is 49 NY NY a laborer. His wife Margaret Wussaw is 30 WI GERM and they have Harvey 12 WI, Arabella 7 WI, Herbert 8 WI and Esther 2 WI. Her brother Edward Wussaw 19 WI GERM is with them. He is George Ward Putman jr. a son of George and Nancy from Outagamie County. He married Margaret May 15, 1896. This is his second marriage. He first married Louisa Kupkufelke here August 13, 1881. Dutch Family from Oswego County, New York.

 

DORA PUTNAM  Waukesha, Waukesha County

She is Dora Luella Park 45 MN, her daughter Daphine W. 24 WI. Her widowed mother Sarah F. Park 76 NY and some 8 boarders are with her. She is an artist. She was married here to Wilton Putnam a son of Prucius and Emeline Putnam from here and Vermont before that. He died here September 2, 1882. She will be with her daughter in Milwaukee in 1920 and 1930.

 

GILES PUTNAM  New London, Waupaca County

He is 29 WI and has his widowed mother Catherine 65 NY with him. She was married to Gilbert Putman in Sheboygan County in 1880 and 1900. Gilbert was a son of Benjamin Putman and Sophia Moyer. He was home in 1850 in Cazenovia, New York. Dutch family. Giles was single here in 1900 as well. He will marry Emma H. Shaw here in 1909 and they are here in 1910. He and Emma are in Oshkosh, Winnebago County in 1920, and then back here by 1930.

 

EDWARD PUTMAN  Marion, Waushara County

He is 36 WI NY. His wife Tillie (Matilda Hemple) is 30 WI GER. They have Maud 7 WI, Ora 5 WI, Arden 3 WI and Ruth 1 WI. His widowed father Jacob 86 NY and brother Bert 33 WI are with him. Jacob will die here January 6, 1906. He is a son of Jacob Putman and Mary Jane Marr from Waushara County. In 1900 they were in Waukesha County, in 1910 will be in Green Lake County, and in 1920 they will be in Racine, Racine County. Dutch folks from New York State.

He is 48 WI US ‘single’ and boarding. He is a mason. He is a son of Jacob Putnam and Mary Marr. He was born in Marion, Waushara County. He was married to Lillie Bishop in Oshkosh, Winnebago County in 1900. I don’t find her now, and I don’t find either in 1910.

 

CLARA PUTMAN  Wautoma Township, Waushara County

She is 67 NY and widowed. She was alone here in 1900 and will be here in 1910 with her widowed daughter Lillie E. Cook. Can’t figure her out.

 

C. H. (CLINTON HAMILTON) PUTMAN  Omro, Winnebago County

He is 46 WI NY and his wife Harriet Jane Russell is 44 WI SCOT. He is son of David and Elvira Putnam from here. He was shown at home in the 1870 and 1880 here. He first married Dora C. Bristol here on October 21, 1887. He later married Harriet here on June 22, 1897. He is a farmer, but doing okay as they have two servants. They are in Providence, Rhode Island in 1910 and then in Crawford County Pennsylvania in 1920.

 

DAVID PUTMAN  Omro, Winnebago County

He is a capitalist 80 NY NY and his wife Cynthia is 78 VT VT CT. He is a son of Roswell Putnam (1170) and Mary Parks from Sanford, Broome County, New York. He was here in 1870 and 1880 married to Elvira. He was widowed here in 1900 and Cynthia is new. He will die here on March 31, 1907. New England family.

 

ADDISON L. (LINCOLN) PUTNAM  Grand Rapids, Wood County

He’s been using the name Abraham Lincoln up till now and will in 1920. But he uses Addison in 1910. Anyway, he is a clergyman 34 WI VT and his wife Lily Octavia Higginbottom is 29 WI IN. They have Arthur 10 WI, Leon 8 WI, George W. 5 WI and Gordon L. (Lawrence) 3/12 WI. He is a son of George Washington Putnam and Martha Brewer from Rutland, County, Vermont. They were in Richland County back in 1860. He was married to Lillie in Dodge County in 1900. She will die and he will marry Evelyn L. Ward in December 1918 here in Wisconsin. He and Evelyn will be in Dewey County, South Dakota in 1920. Arthur will have his own family there  then. The son George will be in the Army at Fort Dix in New Jersey in 1920. They are all in Hughes County South Dakota in 1930.

 

FRED H. PUTMAN  Richfield, Wood County

He is 51 NY, Cynthia Eldridge his wife 44 WI. Their kids at home are George 19 WI, Sarah 12 WI and Grace 9 WI. Also here is Cynthia’s father John P. Eldridge 71 OH as he was in 1900. Then his married sister Clara Eaton 34 WI and her kids Melvin 9 WI, Dora 7 WI are here too. Kinda looks like Sereno James Putnam’s son as show in 1880 in Rock County. They are in Oshkosh, Winnebago County by 1910.
