IRA N. (NELSON) PUTMAN  Auburn, Androscoggin County

He is 54 ME Feb 1846 and is living with his wife Abbie A. Baird 54 ME Dec 1845. They were in Mason, Oxford County before. He was born there, a son of Hiram Putnam and Clarissa Farnum. He will be across the river in Lewiston by 1910.

 

CHARLES E. (ELIAS) PUTNAM  East Livermore, Androscoggin County

He is 34 ME Mar 1866 and is enumerated with his father-in-law John E. Nash. However, his wife wasn't listed here. He is widowed here in 1910. He is a son of Houghton H. Putnam, who is also here.

 

HOUGHTON H. PUTNAM  East Livermore, Androscoggin County

He is 58 ME May 1842 and is living with his wife Annie J. Clark 38 ME May 1862. Charles and Hannah's son has been here almost forever (he was in Knox County in 1870), and will be here still in 1920. Now, as to the wife Annie. In 1865 he married Clarissa Ann Lochlin and she was with him in 1870, but only 5 years younger than he was. This Annie is 20 years his junior and will be with him here in 1910 and 1920. They were married here June 3, 1896.

 

JOHN PUTNAM  East Livermore, Androscoggin County

He is 30 ME ME ME born September 1869. He is a farm laborer and boarding with Jonathan and Jennie Pike. I can’t find him in 1880, but he will be in Franklin County in 1900 through 1930.

 

GEORGE W. PUTMAN  Lewiston, Androscoggin County

He is 65 MA Aug 1834 and is enumerated with William R. Fair as a boarder

 

JOHN FARNUM PUTNAM  Lewiston, Androscoggin County

He is 66 ME Jun 1833. Hiram and Clarissa' s son. He is living with his second wife A. Myra Bickford 61 ME Apr 1839, sons H. William 30 ME Dec 1869, A. Clinton 26 ME Feb 1874, and daughter Vivian 19 ME Oct 1880. They are in Boston in 1910 with Vivian who is just married.

 

MARY ANN PUTMAN  Lewiston, Androscoggin County

She is 57 NH Feb 1843 and is Mary Ann Ross, the widow of Alonzo Edwin Putman of Rumford and then here n Lewiston.  She is enumerated with her nephew Samuel M. Paul. She is here in 1910 too, but the whole bunch has moved to Auburn.

 

WILLIAM P. (PERLEY) PUTNAN  Lewiston, Androscoggin County

He is 63 ME May 1837. He is living with his new wife Sevella Rice 61 ME Oct 1838. He is a son of Hiram Putnam and Clarissa Farnum of Rumford, Oxford County. He was born there May 14, 1835. He is a stable keeper. He was married for a long time to Clarissa Ann Oliver who has recently died. He and Sevella were married November 30, 1898 and there were two records. One for Sevella B. Rice and one Sevella B. Coffin. I guess Coffin was her maiden name. They will be here in 1910.

 

ALBERT D. PUTNAM  East Livermore, Androscoggin County

He is 35 ME ME ME Aug 1864 and is enumerated with Eva W. Haskell as a lodger. He is a carpenter and says he has been married 12 years. This looks like a dual listing for Francis and Eunice Putnamճ son Albert in Oxford County. Both same age and carpenters.

 

AZIEL W. (WALDEN) PUTNAM  Fort Fairfield, Aroostook County

He is 63 ME Feb 1837 and is living with his wife Caroline Nadeau 42 ME Jan 1858, children Mattie 20 ME Apr 1880, Aziel 17 ME Nov 1882, Lucia A. 14 ME Jun 1885, Ira (Ira Abercrombie) 10 ME Jul 1889, Sarah 8 ME Dec 1891 and Stanford 6 ME Feb 1894. He is a son of Joshua Putnam and Lucia Clark of Houlton. He has been here in Fort Fairfield since the 1870s. He will be widowed here in 1910, and only the kids will be here in 1920.

 

BLACKHAWK PUTNAM  Cary Plantation, Aroostook County

He is 39 ME Feb 1861, son of Varney and Mary Elizabeth (Cone) Putnam of Amity, ME. He is living with his wife Orrie E. Seamans 32 ME Jun 1867, son Bertram (Varney Bertram) 7 ME Oct 1892 and his mother Mary Elizabeth 68 ME May 1832.

 

DEAN B. (BLANCHARD) PUTNAM  Cary Plantation, Aroostook County

He is 45 ME Apr 1855, son of Varney and Mary Elizabeth (Cone) Putnam. He is living with his wife Minnie Pollard 34 ME May 1866, children Hazel L. 11 ME Jun 1888, Ransom 9 ME Nov 1890, Myra 4 ME Jul 1895 and Dean 1 ME Jun 1898.

 

ALBERT TEMPLE PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 47 ME Nov 1852, son of Lysander and Ruth (Libby) Putnam.  He is living with his wife Cordelia W. Putnam (daughter of Otis Putnam and Temperance Cone) 42 ME Jan 1858, Fred L. (Lysander) 19 ME Nov 1880, Arthur O. 18 ME Apr 1882, Emma R. 16 ME Jun 1884, Aaron A. 13 ME Jul 1886, Beatrice 4 ME Mar 1896 and a servant Grace Todd 22 ME Apr 1878. He was born here November 8, 1852 and will die here May 17, 1937. They are here in 1910. Cordelia was born in Cary January 1, 1858 and will die here in Houlton September 15, 1915. The son Fred Lysander was born November 18, 1880 and will soon marry Molly Pierce. He will be here till he dies September 12. 1974.

 

ALVAREZ PUTMAN  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 70 ME, March 1830, Lydia Clapp Hamm his wife is 71 ME April 1829. They are

enumerated with Vernon Ross as boarders. I guess Vernon married one of their daughters. He is a son of Amos and Christina (Wormwood) Putman from here and has been here all his life. He was born October 23, 1829 and will die here on June 30, 1914.He and Lydia are here in 1910 both in their 80s.

 

AMOS PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 36 ME Jun 1863 and is living with his wife Cora Margaret Carpenter 27 ME Jun 1872, children Frank H. 8 ME Mar 1892, Ervin E. (Earl) 6 ME Jul 1894, Margaret L. 4 ME Oct 1896, Harriet C. 2 ME Mar 1898, Ruth L. 5/12 ME Jan 1900 and his mother Sarah Bradbury Putnam 79 ME Aug 1821. He is a son of Levy Houlton Putnam and Sarah Bradbury, and was born here in Houlton June 16, 1863 and will die here May 25, 1936. Cora is a daughter of Frank Carpenter and Elvira Green. She was born here in Houlton June 14, 1872 and will die here January 30, 1964. Ervin Earl was born July 6, 1893, served in WWI and will die in Newark, Licking County Ohio March 10, 1988. He is buried back here in Houlton. The son Frank Houlton was born March 29, 1892. He will marry Marjorie Weldon and die here in Houlton January 29, 1930. His dad Levi died here in 1890. The mom Sarah Bradbury will die here soon in 1901.

 

BEECHER PUTNAM  NR, Aroostook County

He is 33 ME May 1867, son of Lyman and Martha Ann (Packard) Putnam.  His mother Martha Ann is 63 ME Jan 1837 and is living with him. Lyman Orlando Putnam was a son of Amos Putnam and Christiana Wormwood. He was born here on April 20, 1834 and will died here January 22, 1872. Martha is a daughter of Thomas Painter Packard and Lucretia Green. She was born in January 1837 and will die here January 2, 1901.

 

BLACKHAWK PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 62 ME Apr 1838. He is a son of John Varnum Putnam and Elizabeth Jenkins, and was born here in Houlton. He is living with his wife Jerusha A. Snell 57 ME May 1843, granddaughter Marion E. Robinson 12 ME Jun 1887, and a servant Georgianna Stevenson 19 ME Sep 1880. He was born here April 28, 1838 and will die here May 17, 1909. Jerusa was born May 5, 1843 and will die shortly on January 26, 1903.

 

DANIEL E. PUTNAM  NR, Aroostook County

He is 32 VT Mar 1868, his wife Mary Purrington is 34 ME Feb 1866. They are enumerated with Frank A. Nevers as a boarders. He is a son of Joel Babbit and Harriet Putnam. He was at home with them in Bethel, Windsor County, Vermont in 1880. They were just married January 4, 1899. He and Mary will be in Farmington, Connecticut in 1910. Mary will be widowed in Hartford in 1920 and 1930.

 

HARRY L. (LYMAN) PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is be 36 ME May 1864, Gertrude Mary Bass his wife 36 CT Feb 1864. They have Donald 6 ME and Lyman just born Jan 1900. He is a son of Lyman Putnam and Martha Packard of Houlton, Aroostook County, Maine. He was a school principal in Deep River, Connecticut, and married Gertrude (a teacher) there May 14, 1891. They then returned to Houlton, where he is a physician. They will be in Florida in 1920, probably retired. He will die in Ashville, North Carolina July 27, 1934 and Gertrude is still alive at the time.

 

JENNIE D. PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

She is 43 ME Jun 1857 and is living with her daughters Alice Wiggin 16 ME Jul 1883 and Anna M. (Mitchell) 13 ME Sep 1886. They are living with Marian Donnell, her mother. She is Anna Jane Donnell, the widow of Frank Lewis Putnam. They were married July 6, 1880 and he died in 1887 in Alhambra, California. Frank was a son of Amos Putnam and Christina Wormwood of Houlton. Jennie was born in Maine June 15, 1857 and will die here in Houlton February 17, 1920.

 

MELLEN D. PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 49 ME Jul 1850 and the son of Lysander Putnam and Ruth Fall Libby.  He is living with his second wife Belle Ida Bell 45 CT Feb 1855 and grandson Maurice B. Ingraham 5 ME Jan 1895. Servants are listed as James W. Glendenning 23 CND Apr 1877 and Carrie Cassidy 28 CND Apr 1872. They were married April 7, 1886. They are here in 1910, and gone by 1920. Belle pops up in Haverford, Pennsylvania in 1940 at age 84 living with her son Maurine Ingraham.

 

SAMUEL W. PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 52 ME Jul 1847, the son of Amos and Christina (Wormwood) Putnam.  He is enumerated with John E. Burnham. Don't know where Etta Smith, his wife, is now, but she'll be back here with him in 1910 and 1920.

 

THOMAS P. (PACKARD) PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 38 ME Mar 1862, son of Lyman and Martha (Packard) Putnam.  He is living with his new wife Jennie Stevens 37 NY Jan 1863, her sister Jane E. Stevens 30 CT Mar 1870 and a servant Annie (Canook) Shaw 52 CND Jan 1848. He was born here March 8, 1862, and they will be here through the 1920 census. He will die November 13, 1920. He married Jennie in Deep River Connecticut on January 18, 1899. Jennie was born January 16, 1863 and will die here February 23, 1924.

 

WILLARD H. (HOULTON) PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 57 ME Aug 1842, son of Jay Stillman Putnam.  He is living with his wife Mary L. Ward 52 ME Jul 1847, children Isa J. 27 ME Apr 1873 and Walter K. 22 ME Nov 1877. Willard is a son of Jay Stillman Putnam and his first wife Betsy Broad of Houlton. Willard was born here August 8, 1842 and will die here March 5, 1916. Willard married Mary Ward here in Houlton on September 10, 1866. Mary was born here July 16, 1847 and will die here January 1, 1926. She was a daughter of James Ward and Mary Louise True. They are here in 1910, and all but Willard are here in 1920.

 

SAMUEL M. PUTNAM  Presque Isle, Aroostook County

He is 42 ME Jul 1857 and is living with his wife Vesta Erskine 26 ME Oct 1873, children George W. 7 ME Aug 1892, Mildred M. 4 ME Jul 1895 and his stepmother Nancy E. 65 ME May 1835. He is a son of George Washington Putnam and his first wife Eudoxa Mitchell of Searsport. He was home there in 1870. God only knows why he moved all the way up here in the boonies. They will be here in 1910 and 1920.

 

VARNEY WHEELER PUTNAM  Weston, Aroostook County

He is 60 ME Oct 1839, son of Amos and Christina (Wormwood) Putnam.  He is living with his wife Ophelia Brackett 59 ME Jun 1840, a nephew Varney Brackett 15 ME May 1885 and a grandchild Margery Whitney 2 ME Aug 1897.

 

ROBERT PUTNAM  NR, Cumberland County

He is 78 MA Mar 1822 and is enumerated with Alonzo Wood as a servant.

 

ANN O. PUTNAM  Portland, Cumberland County

She is 35 NS May 1865 and is enumerated with Edward McDonald as a lodger.

 

WILLIAM LEBARON PUTNAM  Portland, Cumberland County

He is 65 ME May 1835, the son of Israel Putnam.  He is listed as a lawyer and is living with his wife Octavia Robinson 64 ME May 1836.  Servants are listed as Mary O'Donnell 32 ME Feb 1868, Thomas Morgan 48 IRL Dec 1851 and a roomer, Mrs. Quimby 62 ME May 1838. He is a son of Israel Putnam and Sarah Emery Frost of Bath, Maine. His daddy was/is mayor of Bath for some eight terms. Bill here graduated from Bowdoin in 1855 and is getting his act going. He will marry Octavia Robinson in Augusta in 1866. He will be mayor of Portland from 1869 to 1870, and then a judge on the U. S. Circuit Court here from 1892 to 1917, run for governor of Maine in 1888, be appointed to various federal sea and fishing commissions, and almost get us into war with England over fishing rights in Canada. Heլl be here all his life. He was born in Bath May 26, 1835 and will die here in Portland February 5, 1918. There were no children. He will be a Circuit Court Judge here in 1910, and Octavia will be widowed here in 1920.

 

WILLIAM F. PUTNAM  NR, Hancock County

He is 50 CND Jun 1849 and is living with his wife Christine P. Lunt 31 ME Jun 1868, her daughter Plooma P. Lunt 10 ME Sep 1889 and his father Alonzo G. (Ganzelo) Putnam 76 ME Mar 1824. William and Christine were married here November 24, 1898. Alonzo is a son of Amos Putnam and Christina Wormwood from Aroostook County Maine. Alonzo moved to Canada in 1845 and married Frances Mary Guison in New Brunswick in 1848. They were there in 1851 and back in Piscataquis County Maine by 1860 and here by 1880. Alonzo will die in Bucksport, Maine in 1909.

 

HAROLD A. PUTNAM  Augusta, Kennebec County

He is 23 ME Nov 1876, the son of John Farnum Putnam and Myra Bickford and born in Lewiston. He is enumerated with John B. Lawrence as a boarder. He will be married in Portland in 1910 and 1920.

 

CHARLES L. (LEMUEL) PUTNAM  Gardiner, Kennebec County

He is 57 MA Dec 1842 and is living with his wife Altara Elizabeth Fairbanks 55 ME Feb 1845. He is a son of Lemuel and Azuba Putnam. He was born in Leominster, Massachusetts December 6, 1843 before they came to Maine. He was with them in Franklin County in 1850 and also in 1860. He was single here in 1870 living with Altara’s folks and then married her November 17, 1874. They were here married in 1880. Altara is widowed here in 1910.

 

ABBY PUTNAM  Winslow, Kennebec County

She is 37 ME ME ME Jun 1862 and is enumerated with Minerva J. Simpson as a boarder. She states she is divorced and works in a paper mill.

 

AMANDA C. PUTNAM  Winthrop, Kennebec County

She is 49 ME Dec 1850 and is living with her children Fannie H. 13 ME Apr 1887, Mary L. 10 ME May 1890, her parents George W. White 86 ME May 1814, Mary A. 83 ME May 1817 and 2 boarders. She is the widow of a John Putnam. They were married in October 1876. Problem is, who was John?

 

CHRISTOPHER C. (COLUMBUS) PUTNAM  Winthrop, Kennebec County

He is 64 ME Aug 1835, son of William Walker and Elizabeth Putnam. He is living with his wife Sophia M. Thomas 61 ME Sep 1838. They were here in 1870 and 1880. Chris will be widowed here in 1910 and die in 1914.

 

FANNY PUTNAM  Clinton, Kennebec County

She is 77 ME Jun 1822 and is the widow of Sumner Putnam. She is enumerated with William Luce as boarder.

 

FRANK PUTNAM  Farmingdale, Kennebec County

He is 41 CA Jul 1858 and widowed. He is enumerated with his father-in-law Joseph E. Atkins. Also there is his daughter Eleanor P. Putnam 15 ME. He is a son of John Prince Putnam and Lucy Ann Harris. He was born while the family was in San Francisco in the late 1850s. The family moved up here to Maine in the 1860s. Frank married Carrie Atkins of Gardiner, Maine in 1883, but she has died. Frank is a physician in Gardiner. He is here in 1910 with his then married daughter Eleanor.

 

J. (JOHN) EDWARD PUTNAM  Winthrop, Kennebec County

He is 35 ME Nov 1864 and is living with his wife Flora M. Staine 41 ME Nov 1858, sons Henry L. 11 ME Apr 1889, Ralph B. 6 ME Jul 1893. Two boarders, Frank L. Smith 24 NH Sep 1875 and Merton L. Wheeler 22 ME Jul 1877. He is a son of Christopher and Sophia Putnam from Winthrop. He was at home with them in 1880. Flora will die here April 13, 1907 and John is widowed here in 1910 and through 1940.

 

THOMAS S. (SETH) PUTNAM  Winthrop, Kennebec County

He is 32 ME Jun 1867 and is living with his wife Eva Nora French 25 ME Mar 1875.  They are enumerated with her father William H. French, and were married March 1, 1893. Tom is a son of Christopher Columbus Putnam and Sophia M. Thomas. He was born March 1, 1867 in Readfield, Maine and will die here in Winthrop April 22, 1906. Eva was born March 1, 1875 here in Winthrop and will die here later this year on November 9, 1900.

 

WILLIAM P. PUTNAM  Waterville, Kennebec County

He is 41 MA Feb 1859 and is living with his wife Annie B. 34 ME Jun 1865, and son Edward P. 15 ME Jan 1885. They are here in 1910 too. He is a son of Alonzo Edwin Putnam and Mary Ann Ross of Rumford, Maine.

                                                        

ANNIE M. PUTNAM  Thomaston, Knox County

She is 64 ME Dec 1835 and is living with her daughter Flora E. 43 ME Nov 1856. She is Ann Battles, widow of Zenas B. Putnam. They were last shown in Penobscot County in 1860. They are both here in 1910.

 

GEORGE L. (LLEWELLYN) PUTNAM  South Thomaston, Knox County

He is 58 ME Nov 1841 and is living with his wife Mary Dunning Rowell 60 ME Jul 1839, sons George Clifford 14 ME Oct 1885, Israel Judson 24 ME May 1876 and daughter Jennie Alice 22 ME Jul 1878. He has pretty much been here his whole life. He is a son of Daniel Putnam and Eliza Mitchell of Waldo County, but it was in the part that became Knox County in 1860. He'll be here till he dies.

 

LEE PUTNAM  NR, Knox County

He is 22 ME May 1878 and is enumerated with Wallace Haines as a boarder. He is Ernest Lee Putnam a son of Vaughan Greenleaf Putnam of Freeman, Maine.

 

LIZZIE B. PUTNAM  Thomaston, Knox County

Elizabeth Wiley is 31 ME Aug 1868 and has her son William W. 2 ME Sep 1897 with her. She is divorced. They are enumerated with her mother Cordelia Willey. They are all still here in 1910. She had married Harry Winfield Putnam, a son of Zenas Putnam and Annie Battles from Penobscot County Maine, in 1890. They were divorced and he then married Florence Dennis in 1904, then Elizabeth Harriet Gray in 1904 and then Ethel Crocker in 1912. He and Ethel will be in Essex Junction, Vermont in 1920 and Malden, Massachusetts in 1930.

 

DANIEL FILLMORE PUTMAN  NR, Oxford County

He is 87 ME Dec 1812, son of Stephen and Sally (Elliot) Putman, Jr.  He is living with his son Fred F. 26 ME Aug 1873, his daughter Edith E. Myers 25 ME Mar 1875, and her son Henry A. 2 ME Apr 1898.

 

IDA PUTMAN  NR, Oxford County

She is 38 ME Sep 1861 and is living with her children Bernard C. 19 ME Dec 1880, Edward E. 17 ME Jan 1883, Lewis C. 14 ME Mar 1886, Lelia G. 12 ME Jul 1887 and Ralph C. 5/12 ME Dec 1899. She is Ida Bisbee, widow of Lewis C. Putnam. They were married here in the late 1880s, and looks like he has died. Lewis was a son of John Ames Putnam and Clarinda Childs of Franklin Plantation. She is widowed here in 1910 too

 

JAMES F. (FILMORE) PUTNAM  NR, Oxford County

He is 66 ME Sep 1833 and is living with a servant Clara Bisbee 35 ME Nov 1864 and her daughter Maggie 14 ME Sep 1886. He is a son of Benjamin Putnam and Deborah Durgin, and was born here in Rumford. He married Zilpha Brockelbank here December 31, 1860. Don't think they had any children. This is the first time since 1850 that he has been listed. Zilpha is presently by herself in Braintree, Mass. and will be there in 1920 as well. He will be in the National Home for Disabled Soldiers in 1910, and he lists himself as married then. But probably a divorce or just a split up.

 

JOHN AMES PUTMAN, JR.  Peru, Oxford County

He is 49 ME Sep 1850 and is the son of John Ames Putnam and Clarinda Childs.  He is living with his wife Melissa Gene Burgess 46 ME Apr 1854, sons Oscar M. 15 ME Oct 1884 and John A. (John Ames 3rd) 9 ME Sep 1890. John was born here September 5, 1850 and will die here April 25, 1918. Melissa is a daughter of Alpheus Burgess and Melinda W. Austin. She was born here in Peru April 5, 1853 and will die here August 29, 1941.

 

JOSEPH A. (ALEXANDER) PUTMAN  Peru, Oxford County

He is 36 ME Apr 1864 and is living with his wife Annie May Delano 29 ME May 1871, sons Cecil I. 9 ME Jun 1890, Ceylon E. 8 ME Jan 1892 and Ronelow D. 3 ME May 1897. They are here in 1910, but missing by 1920. He is a son of John Ames Putnam and Clarinda Childs from here.  He was born July 21, 1865 and was with his remarried mom in 1870.

 

KATE S. PUTNAM  NR, Oxford County

She is 57 ME May 1843 and is enumerated with George F. Evans as his sister. She is Catherine Evans, the widow of Solon Thaxter Putnam. Her daughter Georgia E. Putnam 28 ME Feb 1872 is with her. They went to Washington in the 1860s, and were in Kitsap County in 1870. If Georgia was truly born in Maine, they must have come back quickly. I believe he was there for a number of years and died there in the 1890s. Maybe they split up, not certain.

 

WILLIAM E. (EDGAR) PUTNAM  NR, Oxford County

He is 38 ME Jul 1862 and is living with his wife Nettie Hutchinson 28 ME Feb 1872. He is a son of the upcoming William Farrington Putnam. He was married November 17, 1897. He was married twice before. First to Leona Taylor on October 5, 1885 in Franklin County and then here to Josephine Kidder on April 16, 1891.

 

WILLIAM F. (FARRINGTON) PUTNAM  NR, Oxford County

He is 67 ME Jun 1832, son of Jacob and Betsy (Parker) Putnam.  His wife Sophia Abbott has passed away March 29, 1893, and he is living alone.

 

BENJAMIN P. (PERLEY) PUTNAM  Rumford, Oxford County

He is 63 ME Mar 1837, son of Benjamin Elliot and Deborah (Durgin) Putnam of Rumford. He is living with his son James Leslie Putnam 32 ME Mar 1868 and a servant Grace D. Taylor 26 ME Aug 1873. He was married to Mary Augusta Bisbee who must have died.

 

FRANCIS PUTNAM  Rumford, Oxford County

He is 64 ME Feb 1836, Eunice E. Towne (his second wife who was married to Amos Towne before) 56 ME Dec 1843. Then there are his sons Albert D. 36 ME Aug 1863 (divorced) and Arthur G. 17 ME May 1883 (single), and daughters Alice M. Putnam Sloan 32 ME Apr 1868 and her husband Arthur C. Sloan 31 CT Aug 1868 and Luna Putnam Allen 25 (21) ME Apr 1875 and her husband Edward A. Allen 42 MA Nov 1857. Albert was married to Amy Mabel Reed in the 1880s. He is 25 ME Jul 1874 and single. He is in Company Housing at a lumber mill Or, maybe a Pitman or Patman. Can’t find anyone before or after that fits. There is a Bert Putnam in Boston, Massachusetts in 1940 age 64 ME who may be this guy but I can’t figure him either.

He is 60 ME Jun 1839 and is living with his wife Harriett W. Hussey 67 ME Apr 1833. He is a son of Israel Putnam and Adeline White. He was born here in Dover. He married a Mrs. Harriet Hussey here August 28, 1865. Her maiden name was Lane. They are here right through the 1920 when both are in their 80s. He was born here in Dover in 1839 and will die here in 1924. Harriet was born in 1833 and will die here in 1923.

 

SAMUEL PUTNAM  NR, Piscataquis County

He is 31 ME Apr 1869 and is living with his wife Minnie L. Whitney 27 ME Sep 1873 and son Leroy 1 ME Feb 1899. He is the son of William Tasker Putnam and Aroline Estelle Boody. He was born in Jackson, Waldo County Maine April 10, 1870 and there with his folks in the 1870 at age 1 month. His dad and mom split and his dad was in Brightwood, Marion County Indiana in 1880 and married a new wife there in 1876. Sammy was around here in 1880 with his mom, I guess. He and Minnie were married here in Brownville on March 9, 1897. Sam died here May 22, 1905 and Minnie is widowed in Bangor by 1910.

He is 36 ME Sep 1863, and lives with his mother Mary M. 64 ME Jul 1835. Mary M. Woodward is the widow of Daniel J. Putnam who was the son of Israel and Adeline White Putnam. She was widowed here in 1880 and will die here later this year. Frank was born in 1863 and will die here in 1916.

He is 30 NY (listed as NH in 1920 which is correct) May 1870 and is living with his wife Carolyn F. DeNico 27 ME Jun 1872 and son Alfred H. 4/12 ME Jan 1900. They were married May 8, 1897. He is a son of John Benedict Putnam and Aurilla Searles of Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. He was at home there in 1880. They are here in 1910 and 1920.

He is 66 ME Nov 1833 and is the son of Simeon P. and Mahala (Greenleaf). He is living with his wife Charlotte S. Knapp 56 ME Aug 1843. They were married January 1, 1862 in Strong, Maine, and were in Santa Clara California in 1870.

He is 57 ME May 1843, son of Daniel Putnam and his first wife Abigail Tasker, and was born in Dixmont, Maine. He was listed in Marion County, Indiana in 1880. He is living with his wife Abbie Harris Ferguson 51 ME Sep 1848, daughters Lucie 22 IN Aug 1877 and Katie 18 IN Oct 1881.

He is 31 ME Aug 1868 and is living with his wife Belle Field 28 ME Aug 1871. He is a son of Daniel Putnam and his second wife Sarah Tasker. He was born in Jackson, Maine August 5, 1868.

He is 44 ME Nov 1856. He is the son of Thomas J. and Mary Putnam. They were in Aroostook County in the 1880. He is living with his wife Marcia M. 44 ME Feb 1856, sons Linas L. 18 ME Mar 1882 and Harry T. 10 ME Feb 1890. His mother Mary A. is 64 ME Dec 1836 and living with him as well. They, and even mom, will be here in 1910 and 1920.

 

GEORGE B. PUTMAN  Searsport, Waldo County

He is 36 NH Oct 1863 and is living with his wife Prudie Margaret Nichols 32 ME Nov 1867. He is a son of Albert M. and Jane Stille Putnam of Antrim, New Hampshire. They were in Antrim though 1870 and in 1880 the family was in Lawrence, Mass. He is married here still in 1910. Prudence is here in 1920 and George working in Boston then. By 1930 they are both still here.

Scibner 30 ME Dec 1870.

He is 67 ME ME ME, a house painter. Anie Clark is his second wife and they have been married for 13 years now. She is 47 ME and this is her first marriage. They were here in 1900 and will be in 1920. Charles and Hannah's son has been here since the 1870s.

They now have Hazel L. 21 ME, Ransom N. 18 ME, Myra L. 14 ME, Dean B. Junior 12 ME, Kate 9 ME, Phillip 6 ME, Stanley R. 3 ME and Clara 9/12 ME. They were here in 1900 and will be in 1920.

He is now 73 ME ME ME and widowed since Caroline has just died. Still home are Mattie 29 ME, Lucia 24 ME, Ira 20 ME, Sarah 19 ME, and Stanford 16 ME. He is a son of Joshua Putnam and Lucia Clark of Houlton. He has been here in Fort Fairfield since the 1870s. He will die before 1920, and the kids will still be here.

He is now 57 ME ME ME, Cordelia Putnam (a cousin) his wife of 30 years is 52 ME, Arthur O. (Otis) 28 ME, Aaron A. 23 ME, and Beatrice H. 14 ME are with him. He is a son of Lysander Putnam and Ruth Libby from here. He was born here November 8, 1852 and will die here May 17, 1937. They are here in 1910. Cordelia was born in Cary January 1, 1858 and will die here in Houlton September 15, 1915. He will be widowed here in 1920 and 1930. The son Arthur was born April 30, 1882 and will die here in Houlton April 6, 1970.

 

ALVAREZ G. (GONSALVO) PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is a son of Amos and Christina (Wormwood) Putman, and has been here all his life. He is now 80 ME MA ME. Lydia Hamm his wife of 58 years is 81 CAN. Their widowed daughter Inez White 56 ME and her daughters May 25 ME and Lydia 19 ME are with them. He was born October 23, 1829 and spent his entire life in Houlton dying here on June 30, 1914. Not sure when Lydia died, but it was before 1920.

 

FRED L. (LYSANDER) PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 29 ME and his brand-new wife Mary Alice Pierce is 24 ME. They are here in 1920 with a couple of kids. He is a son of Albert Temple and Cordelia Putnam from here in Houlton. Fred Lysander was born November 18, 1880 and will be here till he dies September 12. 1974. Mary was born in Fort Fairfield January 13, 1886 and will die here November 3, 1978.

 

HARRY L. (LYMAN) PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 46 ME, his wife Gertrude Mary Bass 46 CT, Donald 16 ME. His brother Beecher 42 ME is with them. He is a son of Lyman Putnam and Martha Packard of Houlton, Aroostook County, Maine. He was a school principal in Deep River, Connecticut, and married Gertrude (a teacher) there May 14, 1891. They then returned to Houlton, where he is a physician. They will be in Pinellas County Florida in 1920, probably retired. He will die in Ashville, North Carolina July 27, 1934 and Gertrude is still alive at the time. Beecher was born in 1867 and will die in Pinellas, Florida in 1944.

 

HARRY T. PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 20 ME ME ME single and boarding. He is a bookkeeper in a grocery store. He is the son of Fred and Marcia Putnam. They were originally here and then in Waldo County in 1900 and Harry was there with them then.

 

JENNIE D. PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

She is 53 ME and still widowed as she was in 1900. She is Anna Jane Donnell, the widow of Frank Lewis Putnam. They were married July 6, 1880 and he died in 1887 in Alhambra, California. Frank was a son of Amos Putnam and Christina Wormwood of Houlton. Jennie was born in Maine June 15, 1857 and will die here in Houlton February 17, 1920.

 

THOMAS PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 46 ME ME ME and a bank clerk. Jennie Stevens, his wife of 10 years now, is 46 NY. Her sister Eloise Stevens 56 CT is with them. He is a son of Lyman Orlando Putnam and Martha Ann Packard. He was born here March 8, 1862, and they will be here through the 1920 census. He will die November 13, 1920. He married Jennie in Deep River Connecticut on January 18, 1899. Jennie was born January 16, 1863 and will die here February 23, 1924.

 

MELLEN D. PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 60 ME ME ME, his wife of 25 years now, Ida Belle Bell (listed as Lottie for some reason), is 54 CT and their divorced daughter May is 30 ME, and her son Maurice Ingraham is 15 ME. May was a child of Mellenճ first marriage with Annie Gregg. They have two servants living with them. He is a son of Lysander Putnam and Ruth Fall Libby. I don’t find them in 1920, but he will die here January 27, 1925 and Belle is widowed here in 1930. Belle pops up next in Haverford, Pennsylvania in 1940 at age 84 living with her son Maurine Ingraham.

He is 61 ME MA ME, Etta Smith his wife of 22 years is 51 ME. He is a house carpenter. He is a son of Amos and Christina (Wormwood) Putnam. He has been here all his life and they will be in 1920.

 

WILLARD H. (HOULTON) PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 67 ME MA ME and is a farmer. Mary Louise Ward, his wife of 43 Years, is 62 ME. Also here are their son Walter K. 32 ME and his wife of 6 years, Almeda Hussey 25 ME and they have Floyd H. 5 ME and Willard (Giles in 1920, Willard in 1930) 2 ME. Willard is a son of Jay Stillman Putnam and his first wife Betsy Broad of Houlton. Willard was born here August 8, 1842 and will die here March 5, 1916. Willard married Mary Ward here in Houlton on September 10, 1866. Mary was born here July 16, 1847 and will die here January 1, 1926. She was a daughter of James Ward and Mary Louise True. Mary will be widowed by 1920 and will still be living with her son Walter and his family.

 

SAMUEL M. PUTNAM  Presque Isle, Aroostook County

He is 51 ME ME ME. Vesta M. Erskinehis wife of 21 years is 36 ME. They have George W. (Washington) 17 ME, Mildred M. 14 ME, Charles R.(Royce) 6 ME and Josephine E. 4 ME. His widowed stepmother Nancy Doane Putnam 75 ME is with them as she was in 1900. He is a son of George Washington Putnam and his first wife Eudoxa Mitchell of Searsport. I don’t find them in 1920, but Vesta is widowed in Bangor in 1930.

 

FRANK PUTNAM Washburn, Aroostook County

He is 18 ME ME ME, single and boarding. He is a son of Amos Putnam and Cora Carpenter from Houlton. He was with them in 1900 and will be back with them in 1920. By then, he will have married Marjorie Weldon and she will be there with him then. Frank Houlton was born March 29, 1892. He will die here in Houlton January 29, 1930.

 

VARNEY W. (WHEELER) PUTNAM  Weston, Aroostook County

He is 70 ME MA ME and his wife Ophelia Bracket is 69 ME. They have been married for 45 years now. Also here is Varney Bracket 23 ME and his family. Varney Bracket was with them in 1900 and will be with Varney Putnam in 1920. Varney will be widowed by 1920 though.

 

SARAH M. PUTNAM  Gorham, Cumberland County

She is 25 CO MA ME and single. She lives with her grandparents Edward and Sarah Harding. This was the second marriage for both Hardings, so Sarah Harding was Sarah in her first marriage to Joseph Porter Putnam who died in Boston July 11, 1871. This Sarah is a daughter of Edward Floyd Putnam and Georgia Smith. Edward was a son of Joseph and Sarah Putnam. Young Sarah was at home with her folks in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1900.

 

MARION G. (GARDINER) PUTNAM  Portland W3, Cumberland County

He is 31 IL IL IL and is an electrical engineer. Lela Schofield his wife of 5 years is 30 TX. They have Francis Marion 3 ME and a son Shelby Gordon 1 1/12 ME. He is a son of Henry Gardiner Putman and Eliza D. Rice and was born in Whiteside County Illinois January 27, 1880. This is a Dutch family originally from New York. He was born in Whiteside County, but grew up in Dallas County Texas. He was there with his folks in 1900. A descendant gave me Lelaճ name. He will just leave the family and take off about 1915. Lela will marry John L. McBrady. They are here in 1930 with a daughter Mary. No ideas where the two Putnam sons are though. Francis Marion will eventually go to College in Massachusetts and will be back here in Maine. He will marry Kathryn Hill, and then move to Los Angeles. Shelby was born June 4, 1908 and will die June 25, 2003. He will marry Ruth Bryce and live in Scarborough Maine. Then as to Marion. He will join the Air Force, serve in WWI back in Dallas. He is single there in 1920. In 1925 he will marry Hallie Gafford or Gifford and in 1930 they are in San Antonio and he is still in the Army Air Force. They are in Dallas in 1940. They will later go to California where he will die December 12, 1964 in Glendale and Hallie will die there in February 1978.

 

HAROLD A. PUTNAM  Portland W4, Cumberland County

He is an editor and publisher, probably a newspaper. He is 33 ME ME ME. Katherine Larson his wife of 8 years is 33 ME, Harold 7 ME and Phillip 1 ME. Also here is her sister whose name I can’t read, Nuts! Anyway, He is a son of John Farnum Putnam and his second wife Myra Bickford. He was home in Lewiston in 1880, boarding in Augusta in 1900 and will be still married here in 1920 and 1930. The marriage files show he married Katherine McCarthy here June 10, 1902. Not sure which is right. One of her names might be a married name.

 

MAUD PUTNAM  Portland W4, Cumberland County

She is 25 ME ME ME and lodging. She says she is married and has been for three years, but no hubby is around.

 

WILLIAM L. (LEBARON) PUTNAM  Portland W6, Cumberland County

He is 73 ME ME ME. Octavia Robinson, his wife of 45 years, is 69 (closer to 72) ME. He is a now a Judge on the Circuit Court here. He is a son of Israel Putnam and Sarah Emery Frost of Bath, Maine. His daddy was/is mayor of Bath for some eight terms. Bill here graduated from Bowdoin in 1855 and is getting his act going. He will marry Octavia Robinson in Augusta in 1866. He will be mayor of Portland from 1869 to 1870, and then a judge on the U. S. Circuit Court here from 1892 to 1917, run for governor of Maine in 1888, be appointed to various federal sea and fishing commissions, and almost get us into war with England over fishing rights in Canada. He’ll be here all his life. He was born in Bath May 26, 1835 and will die here in Portland February 5, 1918. There were no children. Octavia will be widowed here in 1920.

 

CHARLES M. PUTNAM  Portland W7, Cumberland County

He is 27 ME ME ME. I can’t read his wife’s name, but she is 24 ME IRE IRE and they have been married for 5 years. They have a daughter Vivian 4 ME. She should be Jennie G. Valento who married Charles here October 12, 1904.

 

CHARLES N. PUTNAM  Portland W7, Cumberland County

This is the same family, but on a different page and I can read this one. He is 33 ME ME ME, Jennie G. Valento his wife of 5 years is 28 ME and they have Vivian M. 4 ME. He would be a son of Ira Nelson Putnam and Abbie Baird from Oxford County. Don’t find them in 1920, but they are here in 1930. They were married here October 12, 1904.

He is 40 ME ME ME and single. He is boarding with George and Nellie Allen. He was in Androscoggin County in 1900. He is married in Jay, Franklin County in 1920 and 1930. He is John Farnun Putnam Jr., a son of John Farnum Putnam and Myra Bickford from Lewiston, Androscoggin County. He was born there September 30, 1867.

 

JAMES F. (FILMORE) PUTNAM  Chelsea, Kennebec County

He is 77 ME and lives in the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers. He states he is married, but his wife Zilpha Brockelbank has been by herself in Braintree, Massachusetts since the 1890s and will still be there in 1920. He is a son of Benjamin Putnam and Deborah Durgin, and was born in Rumford, Oxford County. He was there by himself in 1900. He is also listed in Rumford and living with his brother Benjamin.

She is 64 ME ME ME and widowed. She lives by herself. Mary Emily Crane was the second wife of Byron Putnam from Lyndeborough, New Hampshire. They were married here February 20, 1895. They were in Lyndeborough in 1900 and he died there on March 24, 1905. She just came back to where she used to live. She is here still in 1920.

 

FRANK M. PUTNAM  Gardiner, Kennebec County

He is 52 CA MA MA and widowed. He lives with his married daughter Eleanor Ginn and her husband William. He is a son of John Prince Putnam and Lucy Ann Harris. He was born while the family was in San Francisco in the late 1850s. The family moved up here to Maine in the 1860s. Frank married Carrie Atkins of Gardiner, Maine in 1883, but she has died. Frank is a physician in Gardiner. He was here in 1900.

 

GEORGE B. (BENJAMIN) PUTNAM  Pittston, Kennebec County

He is 66 MA MA NH, Mary Morrill his wife of 40 years is 58 ME and they have Albert F. (Frederick) 34 ME and Ralph G. (George) 22 ME are with them. Okay, ready? He is a son of Lemuel and Azuba Putnam, and was born in Dorchester, Mass. He went with the family to Maine, and was in Kennebec County, Maine with his folks and Nellie in the 1880 census. Then by 1900 they are in Siskiyou County, California, and in 1920 he will be widowed in San Mateo County, California living with his married daughter Harriet Clark. His two sons will still be here in Pittston in 1920, and be married by then. His wifeճ brother Fred Morrill and his second wife Carrie live next door.

 

HENRY B. PUTMAN  Readfield, Kennebec County

He is 20 ME ME ME and single. He works on the farm of Zadock and Sarah Thomas and is listed as a nephew. He is a son of John Edward and Flora Putnam. He was home with them here in Kennebec County in 1900. They are still in Winthrop now, and Henry is also listed now as well.

 

WILLIAM P. PUTNAM  Waterville, Kennebec County

He is 51 ME ME ME, Annie B. his wife of 26 years is 44 ME, and Edward P. is 25 MA (ME in 1900). They were here in 1900. He is a son of Alonzo Edwin Putnam and Mary Ann Ross of Rumford, Maine.

 

ALTERA PUTNAM  West Gardiner, Kennebec County

She is 65 ME and widowed. She is a housekeeper for Joseph Babb. Altara Elizabeth Fairbanks is now the widow of Charles Lemuel Putnam, and was here with him in 1880 and 1900. Altara is a daughter of John Fairbanks and Relief Gould from here. She was born February 17, 1845.

 

AMANDA C. PUTNAM  Winthrop, Kennebec County

Amanda White is the widow of John Putnam and was here in 1900 and will be in 1920. She is now 58 ME ME ME and a nurse. Her daughters Fannie 23 ME and Mary L. 19 ME are still with her. She is Amanda C. White. She married John on 4 Oct 1876 in Fayette. He was previously married to Ida Elizabeth Crane but she died on 21 Apr 1874 in Norward, MA. John is the son of William Walker Putnam and Eliza B. Norton. John was home there in 1870.

 

CHRISTOPHER C. (COLUMBUS) PUTNAM  Winthrop, Kennebec County

He is 74 ME ME ME widowed and lives alone. He was here with his wife Sophia Thomas from the 1860s till the 1900. He is a son of William Walker and Elizabeth Putnam. He will die here December 18, 1914.

 

EDWARD J. (JOHN) PUTNAM  Winthrop, Kennebec County

He is now 42 ME ME ME and now widowed as Flora died here in 1907. His sons Henry B. 21 ME and Ralph B. 16 ME are with him. He was married here in 1900 and will still be widowed here in 1920, 1930 and 1940. He was born here, a son of Christopher Columbus Putnam.

 

GEORGE L. (LLEWELLYN) PUTNAM  South Thomaston, Knox County

He is 69 ME ME ME, Mary D. Rowell, his wife of 40 years, is 70 ME, George Clifford 33 ME, Jennie A. 32 ME. Their son Israel Judson Putnam 33 ME and his wife of 4 years Mabel Stinson Barbour 22 ME, Mary L. 3 ME, and George S. 2 ME are with them. He has pretty much been here his whole life. He is a son of Daniel Putnam and Eliza Mitchell of Waldo County, but it was in the part that became Knox County in 1860. He'll be here till he dies. Israel married Mabel here November 5, 1905. They are all here in 1920.

 

ELIZABETH PUTNAM  Thomaston, Kennebec County

She is 41 ME and divorced. She has her son William W. 12 ME still with her. She lives with mother Cordelia Willey just as she did in 1900. In 1920 her son will be with his dad over in Essex Junction, and will be there the rest of his life till he dies in 1980.

 

FLORA E. PUTNAM  Thomaston, Kennebec County

She is 53 ME and still single. She still lives with her widowed mother Annie M. (Battles) Putnam 74 ME. They were here in 1900. Flora is a daughter of Zenas B. Putnam and Annie Battles originally from Penobscot County. Flora will finally get married soon and she and her mother will be in Boston in 1920.

 

IDA PUTNAM  Andover, Oxford County

She is 47 ME and still widowed as she was here in 1900. Her son Ralph C. Putnam 10 ME is listed as a Ԣoarder.ՠShe is Ida Bisbee, widow of Lewis C. Putnam. They were married here in the late 1880s. Lewis was a son of John Ames Putnam and Clarinda Childs of Franklin Plantation. Ralph was born December 28, 1899 and will die in February 1973. Ralph will be in Brunswick, Maine in 1920, 1930 and for the rest of his life.

 

SOLON A. PUTNAM  Hanover, Oxford County

He is 49 ME ME ME single and boarding. He is a musician. He is a son of Prentiss Mellon Putnam and Esther Howe from Rumford. He was shown there in 1870. In 1880 he was with his widowed mother in Waterville, Kennebec County. I don’t find him in 1900.

 

MINNIE F. PUTNAM  Hiram, Oxford County

She is 36 MA MA NH and is single. She is a servant with William Ray and his family from Massachusetts. She is a daughter of John Franklin Putnam of Danvers. She was with him in 1880 when he was just widowed and living with his folks John C. Putnam and Louisa Knight. John remarried another gal and was with her in Essex County in 1900, but Minnie was off somewhere else by then. She is with an uncle in Standish, Cumberland County in 1920, and then back here in 1930.

 

B. (BENJAMIN) PERLEY PUTNAM  Rumford, Oxford County

He is 73 ME ME ME and widowed as he was in 1900 here. His widowed brother JAMES FILMORE PUTNAM 76 ME ME ME lives with him. He is a son of Benjamin Elliot Putnam and Deborah Durgin of Rumford. Been here forever. Now, as to James Putnam. He says he is widowed, but his wife Zilpha Brockelbank seems to have upped and left him. She is now in Braintree, Massachusetts, was in 1900 and will be there in 1920 as well. James is also presently listed in the Old Soldiers Home in Chelsea, Kennebec County.

 

FRANCIS P. (PARKER) PUTNAM  Rumford, Oxford County

He is 74 ME ME ME. He and his second wife Eunice Towne have been married for 44 years now. His son Arthur G. Putnam 26 ME and his wife of 10 months Rosa Littlefield 24 NH are with him. They were married June 24, 1909. Francis is a son of Jacob Putnam and Betsy Parker and was born right here. Eunice will be widowed here in 1920 living with Arthur and Rosa.

 

FRED F. (FILLMORE) PUTNAM  Rumford, Oxford County

He is 37 ME ME ME and works for the railroad. Amy M. Reed his wife is 40 ME. He was single with his folks here in 1900. They have a son Waldo R. 10 ME. They were married January 1, 1901. This is her second marriage so Waldo would be from that marriage. Fred is a son of Daniel Filmore Putnam and his second wife Clementine Wing, and was born right here. Amy is widowed here in 1920 and still has Waldo with her. They are in Fitchburg Mass. in 1930.

 

BERNARD C. PUTNAM  Peru, Oxford County

He is 29 ME ME ME and he works in a sawmill. His wife of 7 years Myrtle E. Dixon is 30 NH. They were married April 19, 1902. They are here in 1920 too. He is a son of Lewis and Ida Putnam, and was here with his widowed mom in 1900. I don’t find him in 1930, but he is widowed in Somerset County in 1940.

 

JOHN A. (AMES) PUTNAM  Peru, Oxford County

He is 59 ME ME ME. Melissa Burgess, his wife of 40 years, is 57 ME, and they still have Lucy 21 and John A. 18 ME at home. He is John Ames Putnam, Jr., son of John Ames Putnam (1819) and Clarinda Childs from Franklin Plantation, Oxford County. John was born here September 5, 1850 and will die here April 25, 1918. Melissa was born here April 5, 1853 and will be around till she dies on August 29, 1941. The son John Ames 3rd was born December 11, 1892 and will die in Dixfield, Oxford County March 1, 1956. He will marry Myrtle Houston here soon on November 11, 1910. Something will happen as on October 2, 1915 he will marry Ella E. (Paine) Bartlett and they are here forever.

 

JOSEPH A. (ALEXANDER) PUTNAM  Peru, Oxford County

He is 45 ME ME ME. Annie May Delano his wife of 20 years is 38 ME. They have Cecil I. (Israel) 18 ME, Ceylon Elwood 17 ME, Ronelo, another son, 12 ME, Hattie M. 9 ME and Marie M. 11/12 ME. He is another son of John Ames Putnam and Clarinda Childs. Something happened in the next decade. Neither of the folks are here, but the kids are all over the place then. He is here in 1930 and says he is divorced and has Marie with him then.

 

OSCAR PUTNAM  Peru, Oxford County

He is 25 ME ME ME and is single. He has a couple of nephews with him whose names I can’t read. Heլl be married to Mabel Richardson here in 1920. He is a son of John Ames Putnam Jr. and Melissa Burgess. He was born here October 1, 1884 and will die here in Peru in October 1973.

 

MINNIE PUTNAM  Bangor, Penobscot County

She is 37 ME ME ME and widowed. She lives in the Bangor House Hotel where she is a waitress. She is the widow of Samuel Putnam. They were in Piscataquis County in 1900.

 

FRANK I. PUTNAM  Dover, Piscataquis County

He is 46 ME ME ME. He is single and living alone on his farm. He was here in 1880 1900 with his widowed mother who just died here earlier this year. He is a son of Daniel and Mary Woodward Putnam. Don’t find him in 1920.

 

JOHN W. PUTNAM  Dover, Piscataquis County

He is 71 ME MA MA. Harriet Lane his wife of 45 years is now 77 ME. He is a son of Israel Putnam and Adeline White. He was born here in Dover in 1839 and will die here in 1924. Harriet was born in 1833 and will die here in 1923. Harriet was married earlier to a Hussey.

 

HORACE A. PUTNAM  Bath, Sagadahoc County

He is now 72 MA MA NH and still in the real estate business. Mary Ann his wife of 29 years is 62 ME. This is the second marriage for both. He is a son of Lemuel and Azuba Putnam of Danvers, Massachusetts, and has been here in central Maine most all his life.

 

MATTIE E. PUTNAM  Bath, Sagadahoc County

She is 48 MA and widowed. Her sons Forest T. 27 MA and Lawrence H. 22 MA are with her. She lives with her married daughter Elsie Dinton 28 MA and her husband Ralph. She is Martha Hovey, and she was married to L. Brooks Putnam in Pepperell, Massachusetts in 1880, and widowed there with the kids in 1900. Her husband was born in New Hampshire, I think a son of Dexter Buckley Putnam from Croydon, Sullivan County. At any rate, the two sons are married here in 1920.

He is 56 ME CAN CAN. He is 2 years into his first marriage to Emma 56 ME. It is her second. Name really hard to read, but I don’t think he is a Putnam, as I never find him earlier.

 

WALTER A. PUTMAN  Fairfield, Somerset County

He is 39 NY NY NY (should be NH). Carrie F. DeNico his wife of 13 years is 36 ME and they have Alfred 11 ME and Lawrence 4 ME. They were here in 1900 and will be in 1920. He is a son of John Benedict Putnam and Aurilla Searles of Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. He was at home there in 1880.

She is 66 ME and now widowed and living by herself. She is Charlotte S. Knapp, and was married to Fuller Putnam here in 1880 and 1900.

He is 41 ME ME ME, Belle his wife of 18 years is 38 ME. He is a son of Daniel Putnam and his second wife Sarah Tasker. He was born in Jackson, Maine August 5, 1868. Been here forever and will be in 1920.

 

FRED H. PUTNAM  Monroe, Waldo County

He is 54 ME ME ME and a farmer. Marcia M. his wife of 32 years is now 53 ME. They have Zenas L. 28 ME, and Harry T. 20 ME. His widowed mother Mary Ann is still here at age 75 and will be here with them in 1920 at age 86. He is the son of Thomas J. and Mary Putnam. They were in Aroostook County in the 1880, and here in 1900.

 

GEORGE B. PUTNAM  Searsport, Waldo County

He is 47 NH NH ME. Margaret PrudenceNichols his wife of 19 years is 43 ME. Still no kids. He is a son of Albert M. and Jane Stille Putnam of Antrim, New Hampshire. He was there through 1870 and by 1880 the family was in Lawrence, Mass. They were here in 1900 and are here through 1930.

 

JOSEPH N. (NEALY) PUTNAM  Searsport, Waldo County

He is now 86 ME MA ME and finally a retired Master Mariner. He is widowed as his wife Sarah Ann Thompson has died in the past decade. He has two widowed Ԥaughtersՠwith him. Christina Whitcomb 60 ME and Etta M. Gary 62 ME. Etta was listed as a niece in 1900 and actually is a daughter of his brother Benjamin C. Putnam and his wife Mary Webber from here in Searsport. He is a son of Silas Putnam and Mary Ann Mitchell from here.

 

NELLIE M. PUTNAM  Swanville, Waldo County

She is 49 ME ME ME single still and boarding. She is a daughter of John Putnam and Mary Hatch from Searsport.

 

HENRY H. (HARRISON) PUTNAM  Danforth, Washington County

He is 68 ME MA ME. Frances A. McGuire his wife of 41 years is 60 ME. Charles A. 38 ME, Henry H. Junior 36 ME and Edgar 31 ME, all single, are still here. He is a son of Amos and Christina Putnam, and been here forever. Henry and Frances will be here in 1920, as will Henry Junior. His son Varney Arthur is listed next.

 

VARNEY PUTNAM  Danforth, Washington County

He is 33 ME ME ME and a Postmaster. Minnie A. Bubar, his wife of 5 years is 32 ME and they have a daughter Isa 1 7/12 ME. He is a son of Henry Harrison Putnam and Frances McGuire originally from Houlton, Aroostook County in 1880, and here in 1900. They were married here September 21, 1904. Varney Arthur Putnam was born October 11, 1875 here in Danforth and he will die May 10, 1950. He is buried in Houlton. Minnie is a daughter of George and Mary Bubar and was born in Danforth May 27, 1877 and will die June 16, 1947 and be buried in Houlton. They are all here in 1920 and 1930.

 

WALLACE C. PUTNAM  Kittery, York County

He is 13 MA NH MA, and lives with his mother Nellie M. 34 MA and his step father Lynden Blake 35 NH. They have been married for 5 years. Ellen M. Corey is the ex-wife or widow of Clarence Leroy Putnam of Essex County, Mass. They were there in 1900. Clarence was a son of Wallace John, son of John Adams, son of John Adams, son of Aaron, son of Cornelius (339). They will all be in Newburyport, Massachusetts in 1920.

 

FRANKLIN PUTNAM  Old Orchard Beach, York County

He is 81 MA MA MA and widowed. He has his spinster daughter Mary 40 MA with him. He was single or widowed in Salem, Massachusetts in 1900, and I have never come across him before that.

 

WILLIAM S. SEWELL) PUTNAM  York, York County

He is 48 ME ME ME. Fannie L. Fernald, his wife of 23 years, is 47 ME. They have at home still Betty R. 12 ME, their son William F. 21 ME, his wife of less than a year Lucy Ann Wilson 24 ME and their daughter Helen F. just born. Also here is a Raymond Downs 5 ME listed as a boarder. In 1920 he is shown as a son of William and Lucy. Guess they adopted him, probably a brother or nephew of Lucy or she was married before. The marriage record shows he married Lucy A. Wilson of York Harbor on October 12, 1909. Lucy was born March 24, 1885 and will die here August 15, 1967. He is son of George Sewell Putnam and Tryphena Remick from here in York. Young William and his family will be here in 1920, but I don’t find William and Fanny then.

RALPH B. PUTMAN  Auburn, Androscoggin County

He is 26 ME and is living with his wife Ruth M. Wood 28 ME. He is a son of J. Edward or Edward J. Putnam, and was home in 1900 and 1910 in Kennebec County. They were married in Winthrop on June 4, 1917. He and Ruth are in Somerville Massachusetts in 1930. He is a doctor.

 

SARAH PUTNAM  Lewiston, Androscoggin County

She is 74 ME and enumerated with Walter H. Conant as a roomer. Best bet is she is Abbie Baird the widow now of Ira Putnam from here. In 1910 she was here and listed as 64 ME so it fits.

 

W. (WILLIAM) H. PUTNAM  Lewiston, Androscoggin County

He is 51 ME and is living with his wife Emily E. Lovejoy 60 ME, roomers Olive Jones 23 ME, Annie Curtis 23 ME and Stella Bernatchey 22 ME. He is an attorney. He is a son of John Farnum Putnam from Lewiston. He was still at home in 1900, and was single here in 1910. He married Emily November 4, 1913. There were two records Emily E. Lovejoy and Emily E. Reed. I would guess Reed was her maiden name. He is widowed here in 1930.

 

HOUGHTON H. PUTNAM  Livermore Falls, Androscoggin County

He is 77 ME and is living with his second wife Annie Clark 57 ME. Been here forever, son of Charles Lee and Hannah Putnam. I don’t find them in 1930 but Annie is widowed here in 1935 and1940.

 

CHARLES E. PUTNAM  Livermore, Androscoggin County

He is 53 ME ME ME and widowed. He works in a paper mill. He is a son of Houghton H. Putnam and was born here.

 

EVERETT E. PUTNAM  Livermore, Androscoggin County

He is 37 ME and is living with his wife Ethel A. Thing 40 MA, son Merle E. 15 ME, daughters Ida E. 13 ME, Grace E. 12 ME, Clara B. 11 ME, Edith H. 10 ME, Cynthia H. 9 ME, and son Lewis T. 5 ME. He is a son of Lewis Putnam and Ida Bisbee of Oxford County. He was there with his widowed mom in 1900 and was here in 1910 with Ethel. They were married in 1904. I don’t find them in 1930, but the son Merle will get married to Catherine S. Murch here on December 25, 1928 and is probably around just not indexed. Then I guess something happened, as Merle will marry Yvonne Pomeroy here on April 19, 1931.

 

ALBERT PUTMAN  Poland, Androscoggin County

He is 84 (actually 54, poor handwriting) ME and is enumerated with Alvin Libby. He was boarding in 1900 also.

 

LEWIS C. PUTNAM  Turner, Androscoggin County

He is 33 ME and is living with his wife Gladys C. Davis 31 ME and son George L. 3 10/12 ME. He is a son of Lewis Putnam and Ida Bisbee of Peru, Oxford County. He was there with his widowed mom in 1900 and was here in 1910. They are in Wales in 1930.

 

ERVIN E. (EARL) PUTNAM  Bridgewater, Aroostook County

He is 25 ME and is enumerated with Asa H. Bradstreet. He is a son of Amos Putnam and Cora Carpenter from Houlton Maine. He was born July 6, 1893, served in WWI and will die in Newark, Licking County Ohio March 10, 1988. He is buried back in Houlton, Maine.

He will marry Mary Gertrude Connelly here in 1926. They will be in Northampton Massachusetts by 1927 and be there in 1930. Mary was born in Needham, Massachusetts June 6, 1895 and died May 4, 1972 and is buried in Houlton.

 

BERTRAM V. (VARNEY) PUTNAM  Cary Plantation, Aroostook County

He is 27 ME and is living with his wife Eva Colbath 25 ME, sons Arthur W. 8 ME, Clayton 6 ME and Erwin 1 8/12 ME. They were married here January 25, 1912. He is a son of the next listed Blackhawk Putnam. They are here in 1930 with more kids.

He is 58 ME and is living with his wife Orrie E. Seamans 53 ME and son Alton B. (Bertram) 17 ME. He is a son of Varney Putnam and Mary Elizabeth Cone. They were here in 1910 and earlier and are still in 1930.

He is 64 ME and is living with his wife Minnie Pollard 53 ME and their children Dean 21 ME, Myra L. 24 ME, Kate C. 19 ME, Philip E. 16 ME, Stanley A. 13 ME and Clara N. 10 ME. He is another son of Varney and Elizabeth Putnam. He still lives next door to his brother Blackhawk as he did in 1910. He will die in Houlton in 1927 and Minnie is widowed here in 1930 and 1940.

 

AZIEL PUTNAM  Fort Fairfield, Aroostook County

He is 35 ME and is living with his wife Lena W. 31 MA, sons John W. 7 ME, Arthur W. 5 ME, daughters Harriet 3 3/12 ME and Ruth M. 1 4/12 ME. He is Aziel Junior, son of Aziel Walden Putnam and Caroline Nadeau. He was born here and shown at home in 1900. They are here in 1930 too.

 

GEORGE W. PUTNAM  Fort Fairfield, Aroostook County

He is 27 ME and is living with his wife Rae B. Merrithew 21 ME. He is a son of Samuel and Vesta Putnam. He was here with them in 1900 and then was married June 10, 1919. They are here in 1930 with some kids.

 

MATTIE PUTNAM  Fort Fairfield, Aroostook County

She is 39 ME and is living with her siblings Lucia A. 34 ME, Ira A. 30 ME, Sarah D. 27 ME and Stanford S. 25 ME. They are all children of Aziel W. Putnam and Caroline Nadeau, who have both died. They were with their widowed dad here in 1910, and had been here since they were born. All the kids are here in 1930 except Sanford. He married a Pearl who is widowed here with two kids in 1930.

 

AARON A. PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 33 ME and is living with his wife Maria Louise Hacker 29 ME, daughter Elizabeth 1 7/12 ME and Blanche Kiley, a servant, 19 ME. He is a son of Albert Temple and Cordelia Putnam from here in Houlton. He was born July 23, 1886, and married Maria Louise Hacker in Fort Fairfield June 27, 1917. He will be here in Houlton till he dies October 29, 1968. Maria was born in Fort Fairfield October 18, 1890, and she will die here in Houlton February 10, 1969.

 

ALBERT PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 67 ME and has his youngest daughter Beatrice 23 ME still at home. He is Albert Temple Putnam, and has been here all his life. His wife Cordelia Putnam died September 15, 1915.  Beatrice will soon be marrying John Wiley here. They are here in 1930.

 

AMOS PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 57 ME, and is living with his wife Cora Margaret Carpenter 48 ME, son Frank H. (Houlton) 27 ME, daughters Margaret Louise 24 ME, Harriet Carpenter 21 ME, Ruth Lydia 20 ME and daughter in law Madge 28 ENG. Madge is Marjorie Weldon, his son Frank's wife. They were married in Woodstock, New Brunswick Canada on August 14, 1919. He is a son of Levy Houlton Putnam and Sarah Bradbury, and was born here in Houlton June 16, 1863 and will die here May 25, 1936. Cora is a daughter of Frank Carpenter and Elvira Green. Madge is widowed here with three kids in 1930. Madge was born in London England October 22, 1891 and will die here March 2, 1957.

He is 38 ME and is living with his wife Claire Pierce 31 ME, daughters Isabelle 2 6/12 ME and Hannah 10/12 ME. He is a son of Albert Temple Putnam and Cordelia Putnam. He was born here April 30, 1882, and married Claire A. Pierce July 1, 1916. They are here in 1930. Arthur will be here till he dies April 6, 1970. Clair was born in Fort Fairfield May 24, 1888 and will die here October 27, 1959.

 

FRED PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 39 ME and is living with his wife Mary Alice Pierce 34 ME, daughter Cordelia 9 ME and son Albert P. 7 ME. He is Fred Lysander Putnam, son of Albert Temple and Cordelia Putnam. They were just married here in 1910 and are here in 1930. Fred was born November 18, 1880 and will die here September 12. 1974. Mary was born in Fort Fairfield January 13, 1886 and will die here November 3, 1978.

 

SAMUEL PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 72 ME and is living with his wife Etta Smith 66 ME. He is Samuel Wormwood Putnam, son of Amos Putnam and Christina Wormwood. Etta wasn't listed with him in 1900. I don't know where she was then. Etta is widowed here in 1930.

 

THOMAS PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is Thomas Packard Putnam 56 ME and is living with his wife Jennie Stevens 56 NY and her sister Eloise Stevens 63 NY. He is a son of Lyman Orlando Putnam and Martha Ann Packard. He was born here March 8, 1862, and they will be here through the 1920 census. He will die November 13, 1920. He married Jennie in Deep River Connecticut on January 18, 1899. Jennie was born January 16, 1863 and will die here February 23, 1924.

 

WALTER K. PUTNAM  Houlton, Aroostook County

He is 42 ME and is living with his wife Almeda Hussey 35 ME, sons Floyd 14 ME, Giles (Willard in 1930) 11 ME, his mother Mary 72 ME and sister-in-law Viola Hussey 21 ME. He is a son of Willard Putnam and Mary Ward. They were here in 1910. He and Almeda were married here March 2, 1904. Walter was born in 1887. Almeda is a daughter of Benjamin Hussey and Vesta Hall. She was born in December 1884 and will die here in Houlton November 28, 1960.

Margaret is 24 ME ME ME and her sister Ruth is 20 ME ME ME they are single and public school teachers. They are daughters of Amos and Cora Putnam from Houlton.

He is 80 ME and is living with the family of his nephew Varney P. Brackett 33 ME, Vera 23 ME, Louise 1 6/12 ME, Ardis 3/12 ME and Marion 39 ME. He is a son of Amos and Christina Putnam from Houlton. He was here in 1900 and 1910 with his wife Ophelia Brackett and had this Varney Brackett living with him then. They are all here in 1930 and Varney is 90 by then.

She is 74 ME and is living with her son in law Alonzo L. Tyler 57 ME. She is Abigail Baird, widow of Ira Nelson Putnam, originally from Mason, Oxford County and then in 1900 in Auburn, Androscoggin County. Her daughter Addie M. 57 ME married Alonzo.

 

RALPH PUTMAN  Brunswick, Cumberland County

He is 22 ME and is living with his wife Hattie Harris 35 ME. He is a son of Lewis C. and Ida Putnam and was in Oxford County in 1900 and 1910 with his widowed mom. Ralph was born December 28, 1899 and will be here in Brunswick till he dies in February 1973. They were just married here December 30, 1919, and are here in 1930.

 

HAROLD PUTNAM  Portland, Cumberland County

He is 43 ME and is living with his wife Katherine Larson 43 ME, sons Harold 16 ME and Phillip 11 ME. He is a son of John Farnum Putnam and his second wife Myra Bickford. He was home in Lewiston in 1880, boarding in Augusta in 1900 and married here in 1910. They are here in 1930.

He is 44 MA and is living with his wife May Gertrude Bilodeaux 34 MA, daughters Mary D. 14 MA and Shirley G. 12 MA. He is a son of Joseph Henry Putnam and Clara Jordan of Wilmington, Massachusetts. Joseph was a son of Henry Locke Putnam number 2405. They are here in 1930.

She is 83 ME and is enumerated with William Herbert as a boarder. She is Octavia Robinson, widow of William LeBaron Putnam. William was a son of Israel Putnam and Sarah Emery Frost of Bath, Maine. His daddy was/is mayor of Bath for some eight terms. Bill here graduated from Bowdoin in 1855 and is getting his act going. He will marry Octavia Robinson in Augusta in 1866. He will be mayor of Portland from 1869 to 1870, and then a judge on the U. S. Circuit Court here from 1892 to 1917, run for governor of Maine in 1888, be appointed to various federal sea and fishing commissions, and almost get us into war with England over fishing rights in Canada. He’ll be here all his life. He was born in Bath May 26, 1835 and will die here in Portland February 5, 1918. There were no children.

 

MINNIE F. (FLORENCE) PUTNAM  Standish, Cumberland County

She is 46 MA MA MA and is enumerated with her uncle Horace P. Whipple 69 MA and his wife Ella L. Whipple 67 MA. She is a daughter of John Franklin Putnam and Adalaide Goodrich from Danvers, Massachusetts. She was up here by herself in Hiram, Oxford County Maine in 1910 and is back there by 1930.

She is 76 ME and is living alone. Mary Emily Crane was the second wife of Byron Putnam from Lyndeborough, New Hampshire. They were married here February 20, 1895. They were in Lyndeborough in 1900 and he died there on March 24, 1905. She just came back to where she used to live. She was widowed here in 1910 as well.

He is 42 ME and is living with his wife Merle E. Moody 29 ME, daughter Audrey A. 3 2/12 ME and sons Eugene A. 2 3/12 ME, and Harlan W. 1 9/12 ME. He is a son of George Benjamin Putnam and Mary Morrill. They were married here in Pittston on January 1, 1915. He and the following Ralph George Putnam, his brother, were born here in Kennebec County, moved with their folks to California and were in Siskiyou County in 1900. Then they all came back out here and were in Pittston, Kennebec County in 1910. Then I guess their mom died here, and their dad is now back in San Mateo, California living with their sister Harriet Clark. They are here in 1930.

He is 45 ME and is living with his father George Llewellyn Putnam 78 ME, mother Mary Rowell Putnam 80 ME, and sister Jennie A. 42 ME. Young George and his sister Jennie will remain single and be here all their lives. George the dad will die here in 1922, Mary in 1925.

He is 42 ME and is living with his wife Mabel 32 ME, daughter Mary Lillian 13 ME and son George Sterling 12 ME. He is Israel Judson Putnam, a son of George Llewellyn Putnam and Mary Rowell. He married Mabel Stinson Barbour November 5, 1905 in Stonington, Maine. They will be here in 1930 and for the rest of their lives.

 

ARTHUR PUTNAM  Rumford, Oxford County

He is 36 ME and is living with his wife Rosa Littlefield 32 NH, sons Francis P. 8 ME, Dana B. 4 1/12 ME, mother Eunice 56 ME and 2 lodgers. He is a son of Francis Parker Putnam, and was born here, as was his dad. He was born May 6, 1883 and will die here in November 1967. Eunice is his mom and is 56 years old. They were here, as was his dad, in 1910. They are here in 1930 and so is Eunice. Found an obit. The son Francis will marry Doris Locke here June 24, 1945. She was a daughter of Arthur Locke and Agnes Skinner and was born here in Rumford July 6, 1911 and died here April 21, 2011 2 months shy of her 100th birthday. Francis died here February 7, 1988.

 

JOHN A. (AMES) PUTNAM  Dixfield, Oxford County

He is 30 ME and is living with his second wife Ella E. Bartlett 46 ME, his stepchildren George D. 15 ME, Leona E. 14 ME, Harold B. 24 ME and his daughters Florence M. 3 5/12 ME and Grace M. 1 8/12 ME. The kids are listed as Putnam but the first three were with Ellaճ first husband Orson Paine. He is John Ames Putnam 3rd, and was at home in 1900. He was born December 11, 1892 and will die in Dixfield, Oxford County March 1, 1956. He married Myrtle Houston here on November 11, 1910. Something happened to her or they divorced, but he married Ella here in Dixfield October 2, 1915. Bartlett was her maiden name and Paine was her married name in her marriage to Orson Paine. One marriage entry say Ella Bartlett another says Ella Paine same date though and same gal. John went for an older gal this time around it seems. At any rate Ella was married to Orson Paine here in Dixfield in the 1900 and 1910 census. They were married in Dixfield January 12, 1895. Based on her marriage license to Orson Paine, Ella Edith Bartlett was born in Dixfield, Maine in 1874. Her folks were Zenas W. Bartlett and Ella Coburn from Dixwell. John and Ella are here in 1930 and will be the rest of their lives. The son Harold B. will marry Dorothea Spaulding February 28, 1942. He is in Waterville at the time.

He is 39 ME and is living with his wife Mertie L. Dixon 40 NH, daughters Audrey J. 8 ME and Bernadine 6 ME. In 1900 he was here living with his widowed mother Ida Putnam. He is a son of Lewis and Ida Putnam.

 

CECIL PUTNAM  Peru, Oxford County

He is 29 ME and is living with his wife Etta A. Demerritt 34 ME and her mother Rose Demeritt 68 ME. They were married here in Peru on December 24, 1910. He is a son of Joseph A. and Annie Putnam and was with them here in 1900 and 1910. He was born June 13, 1890 and will die in Portland in October 1967. Etta was born in Peru January 12, 1885 and will die in 1928. He is widowed in Rumford in 1930.

She is 10 ME and is enumerated with Willard S. Arnold as a boarder. She is a daughter of Joseph and Annie Putnam, and was with them here in 1910.

 

MELISSA PUTNAM  Peru, Oxford County

She is 63 ME and is living with her daughter Amy A. 29 ME and a nephew Lester Child 24 ME. She is Melissa Jean Burgess now the widow of John Ames Putnam, Jr. They were married here in 1900 and 1910. He died here April 25, 1918. She and Amy are both here in 1930. Melissa was born here April 5, 1853 and will be around till she dies on August 29, 1941. Amy was born May 24, 1889 and will die in Dixfield in December 1985. Lester is a son of Melissaճ daughter Lucy who died in 1898.

 

OSCAR J. PUTNAM  Peru, Oxford County

He is 35 ME and is living with his wife Mabel A. Richardson 25 ME and her mother Almeda A. Richardson 63 ME. He is a son of John Ames Putnam and Melissa Burgess, and was born here October 1, 1884 and will die here in Peru in October 1973. He was single here in 1910, and they were married here July 4, 1915. They are here in 1930.

 

AMY PUTNAM  Rumford, Oxford County

She is 50 ME and is living with her son Waldo 19 ME. Amy Reed is the widow of Fred F. Putnam and was here in 1910. They were married January 1, 1901. Waldo will soon marry Margaret Smith here on April 27, 1930. They are in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in 1930. Guess Waldo got a better job there working on the Street Railroad.

 

GEORGIANNA PUTNAM  Rumford, Oxford County

She is 43 CND and is living with her children Joseph 22 CND, Clara 20 CND and Edgar 19 ME. In 1910, there was a widow Georgianna Patrin 35 CAN here but not with these kids. I don’t think they are Putnams at all.

He is 26 ME and enumerated with Napoleon J. Guelmet as a lodger. He is a son of Joseph A. and Annie Putnam, and was home here in 1900. He will marry Evelyn Miller January 1, 1922. They are in nearby Peru in 1930.

He is 21 ME and is living with his wife Grace E. Stout 24 ME and a boarder Sarah H. Hayden 71 ME. He is a son of Samuel and Minnie Putnam. In 1900 he was at home (age 1) in Piscataquis County. He and Grace were married October 2, 1916.

He is 80 ME, Harriet Lane his wife is 86 ME. They are enumerated with their son-in-law Fred J. Downs. He is a son of Israel Putnam and Adeline White. He was born here in Dover in 1839 and will die here in 1924. Harriet was born in 1833 and will die here in 1923.

He is 20 ME and is enumerated with Thomas Slovin as a lodger. He is a son of Joseph and Amy or Annie Putnam from Oxford County. He was born May 9, 1897 and will die in Kittery Maine in January 1971.

 

WALTER PUTMAN  Fairfield, Somerset County

He is 48 NH and is living with his wife Carrie DeNico 46 ME, sons Alfred 20 ME and Lawrence 17 ME. He is a son of John Benedict Putnam and Aurilla Searles from Nashua, New Hampshire. They were here in 1900 and 1910. Walter and Carrie are in Portland in 1930. The son Lawrence will have finished medical school and be a doctor at Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Boston in 1930. He will marry Doris Tozier in Fairfield on June 19, 1928, and they are in Boston in 1930.

 

LYMAN C. (CRAIG) PUTNAM  Belfast, Waldo County

He is 76 ME and is living with his wife Abbie Harris Ferguson 71 ME, daughter Lucy P. Nichols 43 ME and her husband Warren A. Nichols 39 ME. Daniel's son has been here since he was born in 1843. Abbie was born here September 13, 1848

 

FRED H. PUTNAM  Monroe, Waldo County

He is 64 ME and is living with his wife Marcia M. 63 ME, son Harry T. 29 ME, his wife Amanda E. Hartley 30 CND, granddaughter Helen M. 5 ME and his widowed mother Mary A. 86 ME and a hired man. He is a son of Thomas J. and Mary Putnam, and was in Aroostook County in 1880, and here in 1900 and 1910. Harry and his family will be in Brewer, Penobscot County in 1930. Harry married Amanda November 27, 1913. Now Fred will marry Ida Clement Leland of Mount Desert on September 8, 1924 and then she will be widowed again there in 1930. He had a busy decade in the 1920s.

He is 51 ME and is living with his wife Belle Field 48 ME. He is a son of Daniel Putnam and his second wife Sarah Tasker. Been here since he was born August 5, 1868. Can’t find him in 1930 and he is widowed here in 1940.

 

ZENAS L. PUTNAM  Monroe, Waldo County

He is 38 ME and is living with his wife Emily A. Brown 37 ME. He is a son of Fred and Marcia Putnam and was born here, or at least here with his folks in 1900 and 1910. He first had married Beulah Ritchie here on November 30, 1911. Something happened. He and Emily were just married here on December 31, 1919. They are here with kids in 1930.

He is 77 ME and is living with his wife Frances H. McGuire 70 ME, son Henry H. Jr. 46 ME, daughter Molly Osborne 33 ME and her husband William J. Osborne 33 ME. Henry Harrison is a son of Amos and Christina. They were here in 1880, 1900 and 1910. Frances is widowed here with her son Henry in 1930.

 

VARNEY A. (ARTHUR) PUTNAM  Danforth, Washington County

He is 43 ME and is living with his wife Minnie Bubar 41 ME and daughter Isa R. 11 ME. He is a son of Henry Harrison Putnam and Frances McGuire originally from Houlton, Aroostook County in 1880, and here in 1900. They were married here September 21, 1904. Varney Arthur Putnam was born October 11, 1875 here in Danforth and he will die May 10, 1950. He is buried in Houlton. Minnie is a daughter of George and Mary Bubar and was born in Danforth May 27, 1877 and will die June 16, 1947 and be buried in Houlton. They are here in 1930.

 

FRED B. (BROOKS) PUTMAN  Kennebunk, York County

He is 58 MA NH MA and works in a mill. His wife Elizabeth F. Crocker is 59 MA ME MA. He is Frederick Brooks Putnam, a son of Artemus Putnam and Mary Orinda Kidder from Wilton, New Hampshire.  He was born in Leominster June 12, 1862. They were in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire in 1900 and in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1910. He will die sometime in the next decade, and Elizabeth will be with their son Fred Putnam in Windham County Vermont in 1930. Young Fred is there now.

 

PERLEY J. (JOSEPH) PUTNAM  NR, York County

He is 52 ME and is living with his wife Sophia Marshall 58 ME, daughter Rita T. 31 ME (Marguerita Typhena born August 11, 1888 and died January 1, 1945), sons Roger Ashurst 29 ME (born June 27, 1890 and died July 15, 1925), Freeman Perley 26 ME (born July 10, 1893 and will die February 16, 1929), Conrad Joseph 22 ME (born February 15, 1897) and daughter Gretchen Juanita 20 ME (born June 22, 1899 and died in April 1974). He is a son of George and Tryphena Putnam and was born here. He has been calling himself Joseph P. up until now. Both folks have died by 1930 as only Conrad and Gretchen are around then. Perley died December 10, 1923, and Sophia will very shortly on February 3, 1920.

 

WILLIAM F. PUTNAM  York Harbor, York County

He is 32 ME and is living with his wife Lucy A. Downs 35 ME, children Raymond S. 15 ME, Helen 9 ME, Pauline 8 ME and William P. (Perley) 7 ME. He is a son of William Sewell and Fanny Putnam. He was born here and was here in 1900, and just married here in 1910 as well. Lucy was born March 24, 1885 and will die here August 15, 1967. In 1910, Ray was listed as Raymond Downs, a boarder, so I guess they adopted him. The son Perley was born March 10, 1914 and will die here or in Kittery in July 1985.They are here in 1930.
