He is 35 IL TN TN and is widowed. He has two kids Nora 10 MO and Maggie 9 MO. He lives with his widowed and then remarried and now divorced mother Mamie Braswell Dufaune 53 TN. If you look back in 1920. There was a Vinnie Putman here living as a daughter in law of Robert Dufane. Vinnie’s husband was Stanley Putman.  In 1900 Mamie and Jewel were here in St. Louis and she was widowed then. So, the guy’s name is Stanley Jewell Putman or Putnam. Well, just found some more new info when I came across his death certificate. He died here June 4, 1942 and his name was indeed Stanley Jewel Putnam. His dad was Alonzo Putnam from Tennessee and his mother Mamie Braswell from Michigan. So why I couldn’t find Stanley in 1900 was that he was listed as Jewel with his mom right here in 1900. I still can’t find him in 1910, and he’s back to using Jewell again now. There is a death certificate here in St. Louis for a Mina Pearl Putman who died at age 4 months on July 31, 1929. It says her father was Stanley Putman born in Illinois and her mother Audrey Jones also born in Illinois. There is also a death certificate for David Putman who died July 9, 1929 at age 1 year 9 months. That one says the father was Jewell Putman and the mother Audrey Smith. So he was married again in the later 1920s to Audrey Smith or Jones who has recently died. There must have been a plague or illness or something and I assume she died in July 1929 when their two kids died. Then I decided to try and figure his dad out now that I know his mom’s name. Well there was only one Alonzo Putman ever born in Tennessee and he was a son of David and Mary Putman from Rutherford County Tennessee, born there in 1867. I still can’t find him in 1900, but he is in Nashville, Tennessee in 1910 with a wife Nettie. They had been married 9 years and that was his second marriage. Obviously the first one was right here with Mamie Braswell. He went simply by the name Lon and was in Nashville in 1910 and 1920 and canմ find that family in 1930. So based on these 2 death certificates I was able to figure out about 4 marriages, find the identity of a bunch of people using strange names. Sounds good, but took over 6 hours to sort it out, fix God knows how many census records, and fix up Alonzo’s ‘history’ in the Jabel Putman of Tennessee Section where you can find Alonzo and his folks David and Mary.

There is a Tennessee Death Record that states he was born in Blountsville, Blount County Alabama August 15, 1916 and died in Memphis, Tennessee September 1, 1958. He apparently was in a Veteran’s ‘VA’ Hospital in Memphis, but that his normal place of residence was 2408 Fifth Avenue, Birmingham, Alabama. He was in the hospital 27 days before he died. He served in WWII. States his parents were Frank Putnam and Lois McMurray. Also states his wife was named Lucille. So I finally find Frank Robert Putman who is his dad. Frank was a son of James E. Putman and Eliza Rutherford and was from Blount County. Frank registered for the WWI Draft in Birmingham and said he was married to Lois and they lived there. He was working for the railroad at the time. Problem is that I never see Frank or Lois anywhere in 1920 or 1930. I think he died January 4, 1922 in Cullman County Alabama.
