ANGELINA PUTNAM  Baker City, Baker County

She is 73 OR and widowed as she was in 1920. She is Angeline Burstow and was married to Joseph Putnam in Grant County from the early 1880s. She was widowed there in 1920. Joseph was a son of Charles Frederick Putnam from Kentucky and Massachusetts before that.

 

RUFUS PUTNAM  Baker City, Baker County

He is 49 IN IN IN and works for a wholesale grain company. His wife Bertha Ellen Williams is 51 IA, and they have Arthur 21 CO, Alice 19 CO, Robert 16 OR, Glennie a daughter 12 OR and Edward 11 OR. He is Rufus Porter Putman a son of Edward Miller Putman and Mary Alice Steward from Newton County Indiana. They were in La Plata County Colorado in 1910, and were here in 1920. Rufus is widowed here in 1940 with the 2 youngest kids. New York Dutch family.

 

MYERS PUTNAM  Huntington, Baker County

He is now 61 NY NY NY and still with the railroad. His wife Fannie Wheeler is 60 IL and they have Paul 23 OR and Keith 19 ID still at home. Myers is a son of Ellis Putman and Aura Myers from New York. The family was in Everett, Washington in the 1900 and Eaton, Idaho in 1910 and here in 1920. They are here in 1940 too.  Dutch family.

 

EMMET D. (DELOSS) PUTNAM  Alpine, Benton County

He is 77 OH NY PA and a farmer. Florence Belle Stanton his wife is 68 MO and they list his married daughter Etta Morrison 35 SD although she is not there now. He is a son of Ansel Deloss Putnam from New York. He was born in Townsend, Huron County Ohio and then went to Harrison, Mercer County Missouri where both he and his folks were in the 1880 census. They were in McCook County South Dakota in 1900 and in Minnehaha County in 1910. Dutch family from New York.

 

EARL PUTMAN  Corvallis, Benton County

He is 38 WI NY WI and is a teamster. His wife Caroline Mary Paulson is 39 WI and they have Zerl (way it was spelled in 1920 also) a son 15 OR, Bessie 11 OR, Eva 9 OR and Pauline 6 OR. He is Andrew Earl a son of George Lewis Putman and Margaret Jane Brooks from Sparta, Monroe County Wisconsin. Dutch family from Jefferson County New York. He was here single in 1910 and married here in 1920. His dad and stepmother, Mary Dinger, are in Washington County now and were in 1920. Mary will die in Portland in 1936 and his dad will come out here and die in 1942 at age 93.

 

J. J. (JOSEPH JACKSON) PUTMAN  Corvallis, Benton County

He is now 75 OR IL MO and his wife Flora Robison is 74 OR. He is still a violinmaker. He is a son of Daniel Bennett Putman and his second wife Rebecca Keeney. He was here in 1920. Flora will die here in 1934 and he will be widowed in Ashland, Jackson County in 1940 and then will die there in 1945. Southern Putman family from Illinois.

 

ANN L. PUTNAM  Silver Springs, Clackamas County

She is 60 MO and widowed. Her son John Francis is 25 OR. Anne Lee Meek was married to John Hughes Putman in Wheeler County up through the 1920. John was a son of Newton Putman and Nancy Stockton from Polk and Dade County Missouri. She is still widowed here in 1940. Southern Putman family.

 

HAROLD D. (DOUGLAS) PUTNAM  Marshfield, Coos County

He is 44 PA PA PA and now divorced. He is a son of Francis Emery Putnam and Theodosia Graves of Wayne County Pennsylvania. He married Rose Spears in 1909. She and the kids are still here in North Bend. He will later (in 1936) marry Dorothy Hagen. New England line.

 

ROBERT H. (HARVEY) PUTMAN  Marshfield, Coos County

He is 28 ID OR IL and a logger at a lumber mill. His wife Leona Joanna Velure is 28 IA and they have Robert H. 1 4/12 OR. He is a son of Thurston Lane Putman from Brownsville, Linn County. His dad died in 1912 and he was at home with his mother Olive Harriet Wycoff Putman there in 1920. He was born March 9, 1902 in Kamiah, Idaho. He married Leona Johanna Velure on February 8, 1926 in Coos County Oregon. She was born December 22, 1901 in Howard County Iowa and died in Clackamas County Oregon February 24, 1997. He died in Coos Bay, Coos County Oregon November 27, 1983. They are in Englewood, Coos County in 1935 and 1940 and have one more son Ronald. Southern Putman family from Illinois.

 

FRANK E. (EDWIN) PUTMAN  North Bend, Coos County

He is 21 ND MO MO. He is single and a baler at a pulp mill. He is a son of Lafayette Putman and Verdia Summers from Towner County North Dakota. He was home there in 1910 and 1920. This family is out of Gilmer County WV and from Fauquier County Virginia before that. They were then in Audrain and Pike County Missouri before coming up here. He will marry Thelma May Moy April 26, 1932 and be here in 1935 and 1940. He was born in North Dakota May 19, 1908 and will die here in Bend in 1974. Thelma was born right here in Bend in May 1908 and will die here July 25, 1981. Part of the Southern Branch.

 

ROSE PUTNAM  North Bend, Coos County

She is 40 PA and divorced. She still has Marjorie G. 20 OR, Evelyn D. 17 OR, Harold D. 14 OR and Virginia R. 11 OR. Rose Spears was married to Harold Putnam. He is nearby in Marshfield. She will be in the State Hospital for the Insane in 1935 and 1940

 

WALTER PUTNAM  North Bend, Coos County

He is 46 PA NY NY and married, but no wife is around. He was here in 1910 and married to Jessica Spears and they are now divorced. He is a worker in a lumber mill here. He is Francis Walter Putnam a son of Francis Emery Putnam and Theodosia Victoria Graves and was born in Scott Township, Wayne County Pennsylvania June 17, 1883 and will die here in Coos Bay June 19, 1948. He married Jessica here in North Bend October 7, 1908. She is a daughter of Thomas Spears and Dorcas Elizabeth Gardines and was born back in Susquehanna County Pennsylvania July 21, 1886 and will die in Long Beach, California November 30, 1978. They must have divorced as Jessie is in Long Beach now in 1930 with their daughter Gloria and say she is widowed, too embarrassed to say divorced. She is there in 1940 too.

 

RAY L. (LEWIS) PUTNAM  Prineville, Crook County

He is 46 WY NY IA and his wife Norma Winans is 33 IL. He is a switchman for a construction company. He is a son of Lewis and Rena Putnam from Iowa. He was here with his widowed mother in 1920. Lewis was a son of William Rodman Putnam (2258) and was born in Oswego County NY. William’s father was Jedediah Putnam (979) from Connecticut. They are here in 1940.

 

HORACE H. (HULL) PUTNAM  Drain, Douglas County

He is 77 OR KY MO and his wife Aurilla Maria Frederick is 74 OR. He still runs his own farm. He is a son of Charles Frederick Putnam and Rosella Applegate from Lexington Kentucky. He was born in Umpqua County but grew up here in Douglas County. Even though his folks were from Kentucky, this is a line that goes back to Massachusetts. Horace was born in Benton, Oregon April 26, 1852 and will die in Putnam Valley, Oregon December 24, 1936. Aurilla Maria Hedrick was daughter of John Hedrick and Louisa Jane Jackson. She was born in Drain, Douglas County Oregon on December 11, 1854 and died there May 28, 1935. They were married here July 11, 1878. He is a farmer and jointly owns a huge farm with Aurilla’s brother George Washington Hedrick.

 

ELWYN PUTNAM  Bend, Deschutes County

He is 29 OR IL US and is a service man in a garage. He has been married 9 years to his wife Mary Hall 29 MO and they have Elwyn Lee Junior 8 OR and Mary Ellen 2 OR. He is a son of Walter Ernest Putnam and Amie Williams from Umatilla County. He and Mary were married November 27, 1920 in Yakima Washington.

 

ERNEST PUTNAM  Bend, Deschutes County

He is 27 WA US US single still and lodging. He is a common laborer on a road construction crew. He is a son of Daniel and Ida Putnam from Indiana. He was at home in Yamhill County in 1910 and was here in 1920.

 

FAYETTE H. (HENRY) PUTNAM  Bend, Deschutes County

He is 43 MN MN MN and a night watchman at a lumber mill like his dad. He is widowed as his wife Flora Marie Belair died June 20, 1920. He still has Ruth M 16 MN and John E. 13 MN with him. He is a son of George Fayette Putnam and Mary Drew from Sherburne County Minnesota. Fayette was born in Big Lake, Minnesota January 31, 1887 and will die here in Bend August 5, 1970. He married Flora in Sherburne, Minnesota in November 1910. Flora was born April 12, 1888 in Terrebonne, Minnesota and died back in Elk River, Minnesota June 20, 1920. His folks came out here by 1910. He was still in Minnesota in 1920.

 

GEORGE F. (FAYETTE) PUTNAM  Bend, Deschutes County

He is 65 MN MA MA and a night watchman in a lumber mill. His wife Mary Ellen Drew is 63 MN. He is a son of John Elmer Putnam and Nancy Merriam from Sherburne County Minnesota and then Sutton, Massachusetts before that. They were in Lake County Oregon in 1910 and here in 1920. George will die and Mary Ellen will be widowed and living with their son Fayette in 1935 and 1940.

 

JAMES L. (LEE) PUTNAM  Bend, Deschutes County

He is 33 MN MN MN and his wife Hazel Ethel McLouth is 30 MN. They have Forest E. 11 ID and Robert Lee 3 OR. He is a night watchman at a lumberyard, probably same one as his dad George works in. He is a son of George Fayette Putnam and Mary Ellen Drew from here in town. He was born in Big Lake, Minnesota July 19, 1896 and will die in Pendleton, Oregon on April 7, 1959. After James died in 1959, Hazel married Raymond ԃhubՠLonghorn in April 1965.  Raymond only made it till he died in 1970. She was born September 9, 1899 in Minnesota and will die in Pendleton, Oregon May 29, 2003 at age 103.He and the family are in Umatilla County Oregon in 1935 and in Milwaukie, Clackamas County Idaho by 1940.

 

REX PUTNAM  Redmond, Deschutes County

He is 39 SD IA IA (should be SD NY IA) and his wife Eleanor Gertrude Snow is 38 WI. They were married June 20, 1919, and were in Tacoma Washington in 1920. They now have adopted two sons Roy Rogers 12 WA and Rex Paul 9 OR. He is a son of Jay Samuel Putnam and Rebecca Sutton. The family was in Custer County South Dakota in 1900.

 

FLOYD PUTMAN  Ashland, Jackson County

He is 37 WA OR KS. His wife Genie Howe is 32 OR and they have David 11 WA, Shirley 9 OR and Emmie (Eunice) 5 OR. He is a house builder. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putman and Amanda Woody from Linn County Oregon. His grandfather Daniel was from Illinois. He was born April 1, 1893 in Garfield, Whitman County Washington and home in 1910. In 1920 he is married to Genie Ada Howe and is in Brownsville, Linn County Oregon. They are in Baker County Oregon in 1935 and then Medford, Jackson County in the 1940 census. Genie was born in Oregon in December 1897 and died in Eugene, Florida June 1, 1968. Floyd died in Ashland, Jackson County Oregon April 5, 1960. Southern Putman family.

 

FRED L. (LEWIS) PUTNAM  Ashland, Jackson County

He is 61 WI VT VT and his wife Myrtle Owen is 57 PA. They have two young granddaughters Dorothy and Shirley Dix. He is a teamster. He is a son of John P. Putnam and Ida Rich from Sauk County Wisconsin. John was a son of Jonathan Putnam (1952) and Mary Stockwell of Orange County Vermont. They were in Barron County Wisconsin in 1900 and here ever since. But, they will be in Alameda County California in 1940 and be there till they die. He will die there November 3, 1947. Myrtle will die in Marin County August 9, 1942.

 

JAMES A. (ALFRED) PUTMAN  Ashland, Jackson County

He is 45 WA OR US and his wife Grace Byer is 42 OR. They have Genie 19 OR, Melba 15 OR and twins Nella and Boyer 14 OR. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putman and Amanda Woody from Linn County Oregon. He was born when the family was in Washington, but was back in Linn County in 1910. They were in Washington County Oregon in 1920. He is a house builder like his brother Floyd. Southern Putman family.

 

RALPH F. (FRANCIS) PUTMAN  Ashland, Jackson County

He is 22 OR OR KS and single. He is another son of William and Amanda Putman from Linn County.  He was born in Brownsville, Oregon May 30, 1907. He will marry Bertha E. Leblanc in Ashland on October 29, 1930 and they will get divorced in a few years. In 1935 and 1940 he is still in Ashland and his folks are with him. He then will marry Thelma Margaret Taylor November 5, 1941 in Ashland, Jackson County. She was born in Ashland November 11, 1905 and will die here March 4, 1974. Ralph will die here July 18, 1982. Southern Putman family from Illinois.

 

ALONZO PUTMAN  Deter, Jackson County

He is 48 MI MI MI and single. He is the son of Theodore Putman and Sarah Ann MacAboy from Sanilac County Michigan as shown there in 1900. Dutch family. He was in Hobart, King County Washington in 1920. He is a ‘faller’ in a logging camp. He is in Portland in 1935 and 1940 and still single. The family was originally from New York and is Dutch.

 

JAMES PUTMAN  Medford, Jackson County

He is 42 MO MO MO and owns a cigar store. His wife Louise is 32 HOLLAND and they have Dorothea 11 HOL MO HOL. They have been married 12 years. Louisa says she came to America in 1919, but I haven’t located them in 1920 yet. Now this looks like James was in the Army in WWI and at the end stationed in Holland where he met and married Louise, and they had Dorethea over there before coming here. Doreatha is listed as a U.S. Citizen. Anyway, James is a son of William A. Putnam and Lydia Jane Moseley from Calloway County Missouri and Guilford County North Carolina before that. This is a line I can’ get back earlier than the 1700s in Virginia, They are late arrivals and not Southern Putmans.

 

MARK E. PUTNAM  Medford, Jackson County

He is 51 IL IL IL and his wife Amy Cunningham is 44 IA. They have an adopted son Seth 11 MT. Mark is a son of Alfred Putman and Emily Ashworth from Fulton County Illinois. Alfred’s grandfather was Reding Putman who is my line. Mark married Leona Dean Ferguson June 3, 1899, and moved to Oregon. This is the first time I have seen him out here. Amy Cunningham is a second wife. Southern Putman family. If you look at the local cemetery, you’ll see Mark E. born December 2, 1878 and died April 18, 1938. Also his wife Amy who remarried to a Clevenger was born April 24, 1885 in Spencer, Iowa and died here November 22, 1956. Also their adopted son Seth was born September 12, 1918 and died here April 15, 1970. There is a Glen Putman here in 1940. I never have seen him, but found a family group sheet saying his folks were Mark Putman and Amy Cunningham. Says he was born April 19, 1904 in Newton County Iowa and will die in Coos County Oregon October 26, 1986. It also says his wife was Edith Stella Wright born in Tennessee June 29, 1905 and died in Orange California December 25, 1981.

 

NORA L. PUTNAM  Medford, Jackson County

She is 4 OR IA MN and listed as a guardian of Elmer and Myrtle Wilson. She will be with her mother Edith in Los Angeles and her mother has married Perry Thornberry by then. Her mother Edith Stella Wright who was the first wife of Glen Putman who is currently in Jackson County Oregon with his second wife Charlene. Southern Putmans out of Illinois to Iowa to way out here.

 

IRA E. PUTNAM  Medford, Jackson County

He is 51 IA IA IA and his wife Helen Smith is 31 NE. They have Floyd 1 5/12 OR. He is a son of James Rufus Putnam from Pottawattamie County Iowa. They were in Clackamas County in 1920. This is an incomplete and screwed up listing and the whole family is shown shortly in Rogue River.

 

GEORGE F. (FRANCIS) PUTMAN  Phoenix, Jackson County

He is 57 TN AL TN and owns his farm. His wife Minnie L. Geyer is 53 MO and they have Edwin J. 29 MO, George F. 27 NE, Louis L. 24 NE, Christina A. 22 NE, Florence J. 16 KS and Minnie G. 13 KS. He is a son of Jeremiah and America Putnam from Alabama and then McNairy County Tennessee where he was born in 1874. He and Minnie were just married in 1900 in Nodaway County Missouri. They moved to Gage County Nebraska then were in Montrose County Colorado in 1910. Then to Kansas and now here. He is widowed here in 1940 and will die in Eagle Point, Oregon May 4, 1962. Southern Putmans.

 

ROSS L. (LEONARD) PUTNAM  Pinehurst, Jackson County

He is 34 NE IL MA. His wife Alice Marie Pearson is 32 KS and they have Ned S. 11 CA, Harold L. 9 CA and Leonard R. 4 OR. He is a son of Willis Putnam and Grace Lewis from Wisconsin and then Nebraska. He was at home in Dodge County Nebraska in 1900 and in Redlands California in 1910. They were just married in Los Angeles in 1920. New England family. Ross was born November 26, 1895 and will die May 7, 1954. Alice was born in Labette County Kansas November 14,1897 and will die in Klamath Falls January 13, 1981. The son Ned Stanley was born in 1918 and will die in Klamath County Oregon January 16, 2001. He married Juanita Young. She was born in Deer Park, Washington March 6, 1920 and will die in Klamath Falls August 19, 2009.

 

I. (IRA) C. PUTNAM  Rogue River, Jackson County

This is a more accurate listing for Ira Putnam listed a little earlier. He is 39 IA IA IA, Helen Smith his wife 32 NE, Wilbur 16 NE, Lillian 10 OR, Evan or Ivan 8 OR and Floyd 1 4/12 OR. He is a son of James Rufus Putnam from Pottawattamie County Iowa. They were in Clackamas County in 1920.

 

CHARLES O. (OTIS) PUTMAN  Klamath Falls, Klamath County

He is 27 WA OR KS. His wife Aleta Cozart is 22 OR and William G. 2 OR. He is a porter for the railroad. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putman and Amanda Woody who are back in Linn County. He was born when the family was up in Washington. Southern Putman family.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Klamath Falls, Klamath County

He is 42 OK OK OK and a welder in a tractor shop. He says he has been married for 12 years, but doesn’t have the wife with him now.

 

HARVEY PUTMAN  Klamath Falls, Klamath County

He is 37 WI NY NY and a contractor. His wife Hester Yancy is 34 OR and they have Gailen 11 OR and Barbara 9 OR. They were here in 1920. He is a son of George and Maggie Putman as shown in Waukesha County Wisconsin in 1900. Dutch family from New York State. Harvey was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin June 6, 1883 and will die here October 7, 1931. Hester is widowed here in 1935 and 1940 and will later marry a Matts man and die here in 1976.

 

ELDRED L. (LAMONT) PUTNAM  Modoc, Klamath County

He is 23 OR PA OR single and boarding. He is a stenographer with a lumber company. He is a son of Lewis Lamont Putnam and Lillian Andrews from Portland.

 

ROBERT PUTMAN  Lakeview, Lake County

He is 29 MI MI MI single and boarding. He is in the Forest Service. He looks to be the son of Richard and Helen Putnam and was at home in Detroit Michigan in 1910 and 1920. The family was originally from Massachusetts.

 

CHARLES S. (SIMEON) PUTMAN  Brumbaugh, Lane County

He is 35 ID OR IL and his wife of four years Abbie M. Scouton 29 MN and they have Clyde 1 OR. He is a son of Thurston Lane Putman and Olive Wycoff. His folks were from Oregon. Thurston was a son of David Hazeal Putman from Linn County Oregon. Thurston moved to Idaho County Idaho and was there, as was Charles, in 1900. They returned to Oregon where Thurston died in 1913. In 1920 he was in Yakima County Washington and was married to an Olive from Oregon. He is a farmer. His mom has remarried and is here in the County now too. Southern Putman family.

 

JOSEPH H. PUTNAM  Camp Creek, Lane County

He is 26 OR MI MN and works for the state highway department. His wife Jennie Swearingen is 26 NE and they have Audrey 4 OR. They have been married 8 years. There is a stepson Alva L. 9 OR. Not sure how he fits in though. He is a son of Simon and Daisy Putnam from here in town.

 

SIMON H. PUTNAM  Camp Creek, Lane County

He is 55 MI NY OH. His wife Daisy Odell is 52 MN and they have Paul L. 15 OR and another son Glen D. 22 OR and his wife Lucinda 19 AR. Then there is Darrell Putnam 3 OR listed as a nephew in law. His other son Joseph is nearby. He is a son of John Putman and Caroline Huffman. He was at home in Wexford County Michigan in the 1880 census. Dutch family. They were here in 1900 through now. He and his son Glen work in Power Ditch construction. The son Paul will marry Etta Mae Overton here in 1946. Simon and Daisy are in Bend, Deschutes County in 1940.

 

JOSIE PUTMAN  Elmira, Lane County

She is 17 OR OR IL and lives with her mother Olive H. 58 IL and her stepfather Harry Wickham 60 MO. Olive Harriet Wycoff was married to Thurston Lane Putman who died here in 1912. She was widowed in Linn County in 1920 and married Harry in the last several years. Josie will marry Louis Doughty here on November 23, 1930. Southern Putman family.

 

ROY W. PUTNAM  Oakridge, Lane County

He is 42 SD ME IA, his wife Naomi Irene Durst is 41 SD and they now have Jay S. 12 CA, Kye B. 6 OR and Phyllis I. 5 OR. He is a civil engineer with the Southern Pacific Railway. He is a son of Jay Samuel Putnam and Rebecca Sutton. The family was in Custer County South Dakota in 1900. I guess in California in 1910 and in Portland in 1920.

 

JOHN PUTMAN  Springfield, Lane County

He is 31 ID OR KS and is a log bucker (lumber guy). His wife Naomi Alberta Tower is 29 IN. They now have Helen M. 9 OR and Cleone E. 5 OR. Naomi’s widowed father James Tower 55 IN is now with them. John Harrison is a son of Thurston Lane Putman. He was married to Naomi back in Linn County in 1920, and like several of his brothers and his mother is over here now. He married Naomi May 24, 1918 in Linn County. Southern Putmans.

 

TROY D. (DAVID) PUTMAN  East Brownsville, Linn County

He is 31 WA WA US (should read WA OR KS). His wife Sevilla Christina Haverland is 29 OR and they have Edward C. 11 OR and Ruth E. 7 OR. He is a miller at a flourmill. Troy is a son of William Henry Putman and Amanda Kisia Woody from here. Troy was born in Washington like most the kids when the family was there in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He was born February 21, 1899 and home in 1910. In 1920 he has just married Savilla Christen Haverland on August 28, 1918, and is in Linn County. They are there in 1930 and 1940. He had three children with Savilla. Savilla was born in Brownsville November 11, 1901. Savilla died or they divorced as he married Laura Esther Morris April 7, 1944. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa April 24, 1898. She died in 1967, and he then married Irma Ellen Randle in Lebanon, Linn County November 19, 1969. He died in Lebanon, Linn County May 5, 1973. Southern Putmans.

 

WILLIAM E. (ERNEST) PUTMAN  East Brownsville, Linn County

He is 41 WA OR KS, his wife Lillis L. Mays is 24 OR and Marie V. is 14 OR. He is another son of William and Amanda from here. He is a teamster (truck driver) on a road building crew. They were in Benton County in 1920. They are all three here in 1940. Southern Putmans.

 

WILLIAM H. (HENRY HARRISON) PUTMAN  East Brownsville, Linn County

He is 71 OR IL MO and his wife Amanda Kisiah Woody is 65 KS. He owns a cattle ranch. He is a son of David Hazeal Putman and Catherine Lemasters from Illinois. Southern Putman family.

 

MARY E. PUTMAN  Sweet Home, Linn County

Mary Ellen Ewing is the widow of James Lee Putman and is now 78 IL. She has been here for ages. He died here in 1913. She will die here in 1933. James was a son of Daniel Bennett Putman and Isabelle Findley from Fulton County Illinois. Southern Putmans.

 

MAY R. PUTMAN  Sweet Home, Linn County

May Stone is the widow of William H. Putman and was widowed here in 1920 too. He was a son of James Lee Putman. She is 45 KS and has Neil D. 23 OR and Will W.11 OR. She will marry W. L. Snedden and be here with him in 1940.

 

ROBERT PUTNAM  Fairgrounds, Marion County

He is 10 OR OR OR and a foster son with James and Edna Long. He is a son of Merle Putman and Cleda McFarland from here in Marion County. He was 5 months old and with them in the 1920. By 1926 his dad had re-married and is presently in San Francisco with a new wife. Robert is also listed there with his dad. He’ll be in Clackamas Oregon in 1935 and working on a farm in Gilliam County Oregon in 1940. His mom Cleda has married John W. Quinn in 1928 and is around here in Salem now. BERT PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

He is 57 MI US US and a patient at the Oregon State Insane Asylum. His mother Carrie is here too.

 

CARRIE PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

She is now 80 MI and widowed. She is in the State Insane Asylum as is her son Bert. They have all been in Portland up till now. No idea who her husband was though.

 

FANNIE E. PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

She is 59 OR and is living with her sister-in-law Dollie Hammond who is Bert’s sister 56 MI. She has been married to Bert Putnam and has been in Portland. Bert is presently here in Salem but is in the Oregon State Insane Asylum.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

He is 57 LA VT VT and still unmarried. His widowed mother Mary is 84 VT and his sister Elizabeth is 45 MS and also single. He is a son of Oramel Putnam and Mary Gibson from Vermont. He was born on a trip to Louisiana from Mississippi. The family was moving to California where Oramel died in 1880. George is a newspaper editor and publisher here. He and his sister are here in 1940.

 

JAMES B. (BUCHANNAN) PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

He is 73 MO TN MO and widowed as his wife Mary Agnes Wait died here in 1929. His daughters Nana 34 OR and Alice 28 OR are still with him. He has been here in the County with his wife Mary Agnes Wait since the 1880s. She has died October 24, 1929. He is a son of Newton Putman from Henry County Missouri. The family came out here in the late 1870s. He is a night watchman. He was born March 15, 1857 and will die here in Salem February 22, 1938.

 

MABEL PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

She is 19 ID IN ID and lives with her mother May 39 ID who has just this year married Archie Hall 38 KS. May Rose Denham was married to George Emmett Putnam in Deer Creek, Idaho in 1910 and in Milton, Oregon in 1920. He was a son of Goyne M. Putnam and Lavinia Babcock from Winnebago County Illinois, and the Rock County Wisconsin.

 

MARIE PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

She is 34 KS and widowed. She has David Luthy 8 OR SD KS and Rebecca 7 OR SD KS. Hattie Marie Luthy was married 9 years ago to Jay Samuel’s son Welcome who was 27 SD (born in Custer County) in 1920 and isn’t around here now. He died in Portland, Oregon December 4, 1922. They were married here in Salem December 24, 1920. All three are still here in 1940.

He is 64 MO TN MO and his wife Myrtle Southwick is 56 WI. They have Helen 16 OR. Robert Marion is a son of Newton Putman and Nancy Stockton from Henry County Missouri. He came out here with his folks in the 1870s.

She is 75 OR and widowed as she has been since the early 1900s. Her daughter Margaret is 41 OR NY OR. Mary Ann Harpole was married to George Putman here in Salem.

 

G. (GEORGE) IVAN PUTNAM  Shaw, Marion County

He is 45 OR NY OR and his wife Adela Simonton is 42 PA. Her widowed father James Simonton 87 PA is with them. He is a farmer. He is a son of George Putnam and his second wife Mary Harpole from Salem. He was with his widowed mother there in 1910 and married here in 1920. They are here in 1940 and 1950.

 

IRVIN PUTNAM  Turner, Marion County

He is 63 MN NY NY and his wife Frances is 65 OR. He is the son of George Washington and Chastine Putnam from Lansing, Mower County Minnesota, and was there at home with his folks in 1870, and here in Marion County with them in 1880 and onwards. His stepmother Mary Ann Harpole is still in Salem.

 

HUGH L. (LAWRENCE) PUTNAM  Multnomah, Multnomah County

He is 43 CAN CAN CAN and a superintendent at a cooperage (barrel) shop. His wife Cecile Olive Winters is 31 OR and they have Lawrence D. 11 OR and Allen L. 7 OR. Hugh is a son of Arthur Putnam and Elizabeth Jane Lightbody from Onslow, Colchester, Nova Scotia. He was born there August 26, 1883. He will be here in Portland until he dies in 1983 in his 100th year. The family was originally from Massachusetts before going to Vermont and then up to Canada. They are here in Multnomah in 1940.

 

ADELIA PUTMAN-KRAMER  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 70 IA OH OH and her sons Charles 46 NE HOL IA and Harry 44 NE HOL IA. Harry has been married 12 years, but no wife is here. First I see them is in the 1885 Nebraska and then 1900 Omaha, Nebraska. Her husband was William Putman-Cramer born in Holland. Havenմ seen them since. Probably indexed as Cramer/Kramer. She is still widowed here in 1935 and 1940 with Charles. Now. I have found her in Tipton, Cedar County Iowa with her folks Jacob and Sarah Cramer in 1860 and 1870. That’s where the Cramer comes in and William her husband was Dutch and probably had his name changed to something that sounded like his real name. There is also an Adelia Cramer listed in Iowa now at age 72 IA with same set of parents. Might be same gal. Not one of our Putmans.

 

ALBERT PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is now 58 TN AR MA and is a cement contractor. His wife Annie Ingle is 49 MO and their son Stephen is 21 OR and work repairing busses. Albert is a son of Isaiah Porter Putnam and Annie Reid from Knoxville, Tennessee. If you look back his wife Annie was married to his brother Thomas and after he died she married Albert about 1908. The family was originally from Massachusetts.

 

ANNA PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 52 OH IRE IRE widowed and lives with her widowed brother William O’Brien 63 OH. She has been living here with her brother since the 1910. Anna Loretta O’Brien was the wife of Henry Clay Putnam of Seattle, Washington. They separated in the early 1900s and he went to Alaska and died there in 1916. Henry was originally from Vermont. Anna will die here in 1951.

 

CHARLES G. PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 51 CA NY NY. He is in a hotel and says he has been married for 30 years, but his wife Lillian is not around. He is a traveling salesman for a hardware company. He was married to Lillian Gonterman in San Louis Obispo California in 1920. She is in Santa Cruz County California now. That would be their home when he isn’t on the road. He is a son of Ralph Winslow Putnam from New York and New England before that.

 

CLYDE A. (AMBROSE) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 41 PA NY PA and a buyer for a department store. His wife Bertha Holley is 42 NY and Clyde Jr. 19 OR. He is a son of Spencer and Donna Putnam from Warren County PA and McKean County PA in 1900. They were here in 1920. Clyde was born in 1889 and will die here in 1952. Bertha was born in 1887 and will die here in 1982.

 

DANIEL S. (STEPHEN)  PUTMAN  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 52 MO NY IL and is a salesman for surgical supplies. His wife Edna Benson is 41 WY and they have Jane 3 OR. They have been married for 5 years. Her mother Hettie Benson 69 WI, and his now divorced sister Grace P. Crooks 56 MO are with them. They are children of Albert Putnam and Missouri Belle Daughty from DeKalb County Missouri in 1880. Daniel was single in Palo Pinto County Texas in 1900 working in a drug store. In 1910 he was in the U. S. Navy stationed in the Philippines. He was still single in 1920 in San Francisco working as a druggist. He then moved up here and married Edna in 1925.

 

EARL G. (GUY) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 39 OR MI OR and his wife Elizabeth Gamble is 34 OR and they have Maxine M. and Arlene M. 12 OR. I don’t think they are twins but based on the 1920 were born in the same year I guess. They were here in 1920. Earl Guy is a son of Egbert Putman Effie Hammersley. He was born in Eugene, Lane County Oregon April 1, 1891. His dad died in 1898 and in 1900 he was with his grandparents John A. Putman and Carline Putman in Lane County Oregon in 1900. Can’t find in 1910 and they were here in Portland in 1920. New York Dutch folks.

 

EMMA PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 65 WI and widowed. Emma Klienfeld was the wife of Mark Putnam and they have been in Kansas since the 1880s and in Topeka in 1910. She is living as a mother in law of Earl Graham 51 OH (a Railway Express Agent) and his wife, her daughter, Edith Graham 44 KS. She was with them in 1920 in Seattle Washington, and her other daughter Juanita was with them. Emma and the Grahams are next in Sacramento, California in 1935 and then San Francisco in 1940.

 

FLORENCE PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 48 WA and says she is married, but her husband Wallace isn’t here. She does still have Wallace Rolland junior 24 WA and Allen E. 21 WA at home. They were all here in 1920 and in Spokane Washington in 1910. Wallace Sr. is also here in Portland living with his married daughter Bessie Scott and he admits that they are divorced.

 

FRANCES PUTMAN  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 18 WA and lives with her sister Leta 21 WA and her husband Hugh Dawson 20 OR. They are daughters of Charles Otho Putman and Ella Hiatt from Asotin County Washington in 1920. Charles is a son of George Washington Putman and Victoria Ross and he was in Clarkson, Asotin County Washington in 1900. Their mother has remarried Ed Wilkins and is in Clallam County Washington now. Southern Putman family out of Greene County Missouri.

 

FRANK G. (GOYNE) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 31 OR US US and his wife Lena Katherine Schneider 37 WA and Gerald 18 OR. Franklin is a son of Walter Ernest Putnam and Aimee Elizabeth Williams and was with them in 1920 in Umatilla County. He married Lena in 1922. She was married to a Funk man before and Gerald is by her first husband. Frank is a house carpenter. He was born October 1, 1898 and will die in Seattle, Washington August 15, 1974. Lena was born in Harmony, Washington January 27, 1893 and will die in Baker County Oregon in 1980, or is buried there anyway.

 

FRED A. PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 56 IA MI WI and is a night watchman in a cannery. His wife Florence Madill is 57 NY. Her widowed father David Madill 92 NY and widowed brother Floyd Madill 45 WI and two of his kids are still with them as they were in 1920. He is a son of Fred and Louisa Putnam. His folks were in Grant County Wisconsin in 1870. Fred Senior was a son of Barney Putnam and Margaret Burkhart from Mount Morris, Livingston County New York By 1880, Fred was with his then widowed mother in Rapids Township, Linn County Iowa. They are here in 1935 and 1940.

 

FRED H. (HUBBARD) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 56 MI NY NY and his wife Bertha A. Wesenberg is 56 WI GER GER. They have Erma W. 26 WI and Ruth N. 18 OR. He works in a lumber mill. They have been here since the early 1900s. He is the son of Martin H. Putnam and Harriet Burlingame from Pentwater, Michigan. He was born in Pentwater March 11, 1872 and will die in Portland, Oregon January 31, 1940. Bertha is a daughter of Henry and Maria Wesenberg and was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in February 1874 and will die in Portland December 26, 1953.

He is 42 OR NY MO and his wife Pearl Matilda Wilkins is 39 OR MS AL. They have George R. 16 OR and Nancy J. 10 OR at home. His widowed mother Lena M. Kunst 63 MO is still here too. He is widowed here in 1940.  He is a son of Arthur Moore Putnam from Montgomery County New York. Dutch family.

He is 37 WI NY WI and his wife Ruth M. Walker is 38 NE. He also lists his mother Emma (Kuhn) 71 WI as absent. Emma is still here in town but with her daughter Edith. Harold is a son of Orrin Putnam and was here with his mom in 1920. He runs a retail hardware store and Ruth is his bookkeeper.

 

HARRY M. PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 63 MN ME IN and single. He is boarding and is a salesman for a refrigeration company. He was living in a hotel here in 1920 too, and was in Alameda County California before that. He is a son of Lucien Putnam and Elizabeth Merrill from Minneapolis and then Linn County Oregon in 1880 and Oakland California by 1900. Lucien was a son of Sterne Putnam (1804) and Hannah Townsend from Houlton, Maine.

 

HERBERT PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 49 IA IA IA and his wife Rosalie is 38 MN. They have Charles 20 MT. Also here is their married daughter Marian 18 MT and her husband Ray Barrell 21 OR. He is a son of Jay Samuel Putnam and Rebecca Charlotte Sutton. He was born in Carroll County Iowa December 21, 1880. The family then moved to Custer, South Dakota and then here to Oregon. He and Rosalie are in Washington County in 1940. He is a doctor in his own practice. He will die here in Portland February 11, 1959. Rosalie was born in Minnesota October 19, 1886 and will die in Washington County Oregon June 10, 1963.

He is 36 single and born in Poland. He arrived in the Country in 1910 and is an engineer in a Convent. He is here in 1940 and says he was born in Oregon.

 

LEMUEL P. (PRATT) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 45 IA NY NE and is a director of a Presbyterian Church. His wife Edna Mosher is 42 SD and they have Winifred H. 13 IL and Lemuel P. Junior 11 IL. Her widowed mother Lena Mosher 68 GER is with them. He is the son of Jay Samuel Putnam and Rebecca Sutton. He was in Carroll County Iowa in 1880 and in Custer County South Dakota in 1900. They were in Chicago in 1920. They are here in 1935 and 1940. They will be in Washington County in 1950.

 

LULA M. PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 60 IL. Lula Mae Crabb is the wife of Orville  Monroe Putnam. He is still back in Shelby Montana. Lulu is visiting her daughter Leona D. 32 IL KS IL and her husband L. Dee Wright 30 CO. She was here in 1935 and now in 1940 and admits she is divorced. He is still around in Jackcon County and will eventually die April 1, 1950. Lula is still here in 1950

 

MARY PUTMAN  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 67 IRE and says she is married. She lives with her married daughter Marion Trane 38 OR and her husband Arthur Trane. Mary was married to Frank Putman in Clackamas County in 1910. That was her second marriage and Marion was a daughter of that first marriage. Frank was a son of Lorenzo Putman and Mary Graybiel of Lincoln County Ontario. He was shown at home there in 1881. Dutch family.

 

ORLIN U. (UZZIEL) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 57 KS MI IL and his wife Anna Bergstrom is 46 IA SWED IL. She is his second wife and they were Lake County Oregon in 1920 and in Eddy County New Mexico in 1910. He was first married to Minnie Herring back in Illinois. He is a son of Uzziel Franklin Putnam, and was there in McDonough County Illinois with the family in 1900.

 

ORVILLE B. (BELFIELD) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 25 IL KS IL and has been married a year to Genevieve L. 21 OR. He is an electrician in an electric shop. He is a son of Orville Monroe Putnam and Lula Mae Crabb. He was born in McDonough County Illinois and was with the family in Shelby, Toole County Montana in 1920. His dad is back there and his mom is here in Portland. He will get divorced as in 1935 he is in Shelby Toole County Montana and has a new wife Mary Dolan born back there. They are in Cascade County Montana in 1940, and he is working in a mine. He will join the Marines when WWII starts and be killed in the Battle of Okinawa April 12, 1944. Daddy Orville is around and he will be in Jackson County Oregon and won’t die till July 1, 1950.

 

RAY PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 39 MI CAN CAN and works in a cleaning establishment. His wife Vera is 37 CAN and they have Dorethea 15 CAN and a son Billie 12 CAN. He is not Samuel Ray the son of William Ezra Putnam and Elizabeth Wilmot from Tuscola County Michigan. That guy is still there, but the age is just about the same. Best guess is that he is a son of Stephen Brown Putnam and Sarah Elizabeth Smith (both from Canada) as shown in 1900 in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County Michigan. Their son William Raymond was born February 15, 1895 so the age is perfect. Some of the family went back to Canada like he obviously did, but the last available census in Canada is 1911 so no help. Stephen was a son of John W. Putnam and Elizabeth Brown from Kent, Ontario. He was first married to Isabelle Arbuckle in 1881, and she died in 1885. He married Sarah back in Chatham, Kent, Ontario on September 11, 1889.

 

RICHARD C. PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 44 OR NY MO. His wife Elizabeth H. Tanner is 42 OR and they have Albert A. 18 OR. He is a son of Arthur Moore Putnam and Lena Kunst and was born here in Portland.

 

THOMAS PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 30 OR TN MO and his wife Hazel Thirion is 27 MN. He is an automobile mechanic. He was born here and is a son of Thomas Putnam and Annie Ingle. His dad died in the early 1900s and his mother married his father’s brother Albert in 1908. Both guys were sons of Israel Putnam from Knoxville Tennessee. Tom and Hazel are in Clark County Washington in 1940 where he works for an oil company. This is a New England line, not a Southern one.

 

WALLACE R. (ROLLAND) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 74 WI WI WI and now divorced from his second wife Annie Florence Allen who is also here in Portland with the kids. Wallace is living with his married daughter Bessie Scott 36 ND and her husband Thomas and their kids. Wallace will die here October 7, 1931.

 

WALTER E. (ERNEST) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 67 IL NY NY and is a building carpenter. His wife Aimie Elizabeth Williams is 51 KS and their daughter Nona M. 15 IL is the only one at home now. They were in Umatilla County here in 1920 and Winnebago County Illinois before that. He is a son of Goyne McCoy Putnam, and was here in 1900. He is on his second marriage.

 

WILLIAM A. PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 29 ND WI PA and his wife Elizabeth is 25 OR and they have Virginia 6 OR. He is a son of Wallace R. Putnam and his second wife Annie Allen. He was here in Portland with them in 1920 and in Spokane Washington in 1910 and before that in Towner County South Dakota where he was born. They are here in 1935 and 1940.

 

IRA E. PUTMAN  Primrose, Multnomah County

He is 40 WI NY IA and is a plumber. His wife Mattie is 42 MN and is a public school teacher. They have Marjorie A. 14 OR. He was married to Elsie May Fisher in Benton County in 1910 and since he and Marjorie have only been married 10 years, she would be from the first marriage. He is a son of George Lewis Putman and Margaret Jane Brooks from Sparta, Monroe County Wisconsin. They are here still in 1935 and 194. Dutch family from Jefferson County New York.

 

WINFREY N. (NEWTON) PUTNAM  Precinct 30, Polk County

He is 70 MO TN MO and his wife Eunice Belle Harris is 70 OR. He is still a farmer. Been here for ages, he is a son of Newton Putman and Nancy Stockton from Henry County Missouri. He will die February 13, 193 and Eunice is widowed in Yamhill County in 1940. Southern Putman family.

 

EMERALD PUTNAM  Milton, Umatilla County

Yes that is his name, Emerald Cole Putnam, and he is now 28 OR NY TX. His wife Ruth Inez Jetton is 25 TX. They have been married 4 years, and he works at a box factory. He is a son of Herbert Eugene Putnam and Stella Cole. He was born here in Milton, but the family has been in Walla Walla County Washington in 1910 and 1920.

 

CHARLES A. PUTMAN  Pendleton, Umatilla County

He is 43 MO MO MO and divorced. His brother William Theodore is 26 WA MO MO and still single. They are both mechanics who work on farm machinery. They are children of George Washington and Victoria Putman and were in Kootenai County Idaho in 1910 and 1920 and in Washington in 1900 and Greene County Missouri before that. Southern Putmans. He is remarried to a Bertha in Grant County Oregon in 1940.

 

ARTHUR L. (LYLE) PUTNAM  La Grande, Union County

He is 25 OR IL TX and works on a farm. His wife Effie Mae Herr is 19 OR. He is a son of Herbert Eugene Putnam and Stella Cole from Winnebago County Illinois and then Rock County Wisconsin Herbert was a son of Goyne McCoy Putnam and Lavina Babcock from Erie County Pennsylvania. Arthur was born September 11, 1904 in Umatilla County Oregon and then went with his folks in Walla Walla County Washington in 1910 and 1920. His folks moved to Yolo County California in the 1930 and Arthur moved back here to Union County. They are in Josephine County Oregon in 1940 and his widowed mother is with them.

 

CLYDE D. PUTNAM  La Grande, Union County

He is 48 IA IL OH and his wife Maude M. Osborne is 37 WA. He owns a ready to wear shop. He is a son of Jasper Newton Putman and Elizabeth Grant of Davis County Iowa. He was home there in 1900. He was single here in 1910 and married in 1920. They are in Grants Pass, Josephine County Oregon in 1935 and 1940. Southern Putman family.

 

RALPH PUTNAM  La Grande, Union County

He is 41 CA CA CA and is a Minister for a church. His wife Edith Maude Von Behren is 38 OR and they have Lenora 15 OR, Thelma Leone 13 OR and Winona Louise 11 OR. They were in Marion County in 1920. He is Ralph Lloyd Putnam a son of William H. Putnam and Maude Messenger from Calaveras County California. He was there in 1900 and in Tulare County California in 1910. Still here in 1950. This is a New England line out of Vermont.

 

VIETTA PUTNAM  Buxton, Washington County

She is 20 MN IL MN and lives with her twice widowed mother Pearl Bronson 51 MN. Pearl was a widowed Putman in St. Paul Minnesota in 1920. I can’t find her in 1910 so no clue as to either husband at this stage.

 

GEORGE L. (LEWIS) PUTMAN  Dilley, Washington County

He is now 81 NY NY NY and his wife Mary C. Dinger is 73 WI. He is retired. He is a son of Isaac Putman and Mary Duel from Sparta, Monroe County Wisconsin. He has been here for a while now. They will move to Portland soon where Mary will die in 1936. George will move to Benton County to be with his son and die there at age 93 in 1946. Dutch family from Jefferson County New York.

 

LESTER PUTMAN  Dilley, Washington County

He is 68 WI NY NY. His wife Lillian Davidson is 68 WI. He says he is now retired. He is another son of Isaac Putman and Mary Duel from Sparta, Monroe County Wisconsin. He has been in Benton County from 1910 up till now. He hasn’t had a wife shown before but had a daughter in 1910 and 1920. He just married Lillian November 6, 1929 back in Benton County. He lives a couple of houses away from his brother George. Dutch family from New York.

 

JAMES H. (HARRISON) PUTMAN  Gaston, Washington County

He is 57 OR IL IL and his wife Julia Ann McKinley is 43 OR. They have Rodney J. 24 OR and Otis L. 17 OR. He is a house carpenter as are his kids. He is a son of John Harrison Putman and Hannah Louisa Woodfin from Linn County. His dad remarried and was in Washington in 1900 and then back here in Yamhill County after that. James and Julia were in Yamhill County in 1920. Southern Putmans.

 

MELVIN PUTMAN  Hillsboro, Washington County

He is 60 CAN CAN CAN and is a minister in the Christian Church. His wife Lillian Mae Miller is 64 OH. He is a son of Lorenzo Putman and Mary Graybiel from Lincoln County Ontario. He and Lillian were in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1910 and in Everett Washington in 1920. He will be here in the Northwest until his death May 4, 1937. Lillian is widowed here in 1940. His line goes back Melvin, Lorenzo, Albert and David Putman. David was born in New York in 1783 and moved to Canada in the early 1800s. This is a Dutch line.

 

WILLIAM T. (THROCKMORTON) PUTNAM  Laurel, Washington County

He is 65 NJ VT JAMAICA and is a farmer. His wife Harriet Griswold is 59 CA and they have Fernando C. (Cortez) 34 WA and single, William T. (Throckmorton) 32 WA and his wife Lorene Biersdorf 21 OR, Phillip G. (Griswold) 27 WA and his wife Letha L. 24 WA and their daughter Harriet 1 4/12 OR. They also have a boarder. He is a son of Fernando Cortez Putnam originally from Leominster, Mass. and then Vermont. His dad was a minister, married Lydia Throckmorton in Vermont and then Ada Husband (his mother) in New Jersey, and was the minister at the Episcopal Church in Jersey City, New Jersey. They have been in Mason County Washington since the 1890s. New England line of course. They are all here in 1940 except Phillip and Alethea who are in Skagit County Washington.

She is 37 WA OR OR still single and is running her folks farm. She is a daughter of Daniel Barnet Putman and Lucinda Heater who both were killed in an automobile accident here on June 2, 1929. A Southern Putman family.

 

LOUIS L. (LAMONT) PUTNAM  Newberg, Yamhill County

He is 55 PA NY NY and is a construction contractor. His wife Lillian Phoebe Andrews is 49 OR and they have Eldred Lamont 23 OR, Francis Arthur 21 OR, Edith Elizabeth 19 OR, Delmar Borden 16 OR and Gale Albert 14 OR. He is a son of Francis Emery Putnam and Theodosia Victoria Graves. He married Mabel Tewksbury in PA in 1898, and was divorced in 1904. He then married Lillian Phoebe Andrews in Portland on July 5, 1905. They have been there up until now. He is in the concrete business and is probably here working on a road or one of the dams. He will be here in 1935 and 1940 and also be listed in Klamath Falls, Klamath County Oregon in 1940. The son Eldred is also listed in Klamath County now and also in 1935 and in 1940. At home still are daughter Glennine 22 OR and son Edward 20 OR. He is a son of Edward Miller Putman and Mary Alice Steward from Newton County and then Jasper County Indiana. He was born in Mount Ayr, Indiana October 30, 1880. They were in La Plata County Colorado in 1910, and were here in 1920 and 1930. Dutch family from New York.

 

FRANKLIN G. (GOYNE) PUTNAM  Cornucopia, Baker County

He is 41 OR US US and his wife Lena Katherine Schneider 45 WA. Franklin is a son of Walter Ernest Putnam and Aimee Elizabeth Williams and was with them in 1920 in Umatilla County. He married Lena in 1922. They were in Portland in 1930. She was married to a Funk man before. Frank is a house carpenter. He was born October 1, 1898 and will die in Seattle, Washington August 15, 1974. Lena was born in Harmony, Washington January 27, 1893 and will die in Baker County Oregon in 1980, or is buried there anyway. New England family.

 

MYERS PUTNAM  Huntington, Baker County

He is 70 NY, his wife Fannie Wheeler 70 IL and they have their widowed daughter Avis Pierson 42 WA and her daughters Shirley 18 WA and Wheeler 16 CA. Myers is a son of Ellis Putman and Aura Angeline Myers from New York. He was born in Reading, Schuyler County New York May 29, 1869 and will die in Seattle Washington in December 1958. The family was in Everett, Washington in the 1900 and Eaton, Idaho in 1910 and here in 1920 and 1930. Fannie was born in Jasper, Illinois August 28, 1868 and will die here in Huntington Christmas Day 1944. Dutch family out of Montgomery County New York.

 

ROBERT PUTMAN  Sumpter, Baker County

He is 26 OR single and lodging. He works in a gold dredging operation. He is a son of Rufus and Bertha Putman and was at home with them in Baker City in 1920, 1930 and 1935.

 

EARL A. (ANDREW) PUTMAN  Corvallis, Benton County

He is 38 WI NY WI and is a hay farmer. His wife Caroline Mary Paulson is 39 WI and they have Zerl a son 25 OR, Bessie 21 OR, Eva 19 OR and Pauline 16 OR. His dad George Lewis Putman 91 NY is here now too. He is Andrew Earl a son of George Lewis Putman and Margaret Jane Brooks from Sparta, Monroe County Wisconsin where he was born November 19, 1891. He was here single in 1910 and married here in 1920 and 1930. His dad and stepmother, Mary Dinger, were in Washington County in 1920 and 1930. Mary died in Portland in 1936 and his dad came out here and will die December 11, 1942 at age 93. Earl married Caroline here July 2, 1913. He will die here in 1950 and Caroline was born in Minnesota October 1, 1890 and will die in Brookings, Oregon in October 1972. Dutch family from Jefferson County New York.

 

JOSEPH H. PUTNAM  Corvallis, Benton County

He is 38 OR, his wife Jennie Swearingen 38 NE and they have Alvie 19 OR and Audrey 14 OR. In 1930 the son Alvie was listed as being a stepson. Joe is a foreman for a highway crew and was in 1930 as well. He is a son of Simon H. Putnam and Daisy Odell from Michigan. Simon is a son of John Putman and Caroline Huffman. He was at home in Wexford County Michigan in the 1880 census. They were here in 1900 through now. Dutch family from New York State.

 

R. (ROBERT) ROY PUTMAN  Clackamas, Clackamas County

He is 52 OR IL WA and a farmer. Marie Margaret Odem is 50 AR. They have Vivian Marie 22 OR, Robert Clark 19 OR, Chester Royal 13 OR. He is a son of John Harrison Putman and his first wife Hannah Woodfin from Linn County and then Yamhill County Oregon. Robert and Marie were in Yamhill County in 1920 and here in Canyon County, Idaho in 1930 and then back here by 1935. He was born July 15, 1887 and will die in Portland, Oregon November 14, 1947. Marie was born in Arkansas City, Arkansas in 1890 and died in San Bernardino, California April 26, 1956. The son Robert Clark was born April 23, 1920 and will die in Clackamas County January 4, 1988. He will marry Roberta Frances Jones.

 

LEE J. (JAMES) PUTMAN  Milwaukie, Clackamas County

He is 43 MN MN MN and his wife Hazel Ethel McLough is 40 MN. They have Forest E. 21 ID and Robert Lee 13 OR. He is a son of George Fayette Putnam and Mary Ellen Drew and was born in Big Lake, Minnesota July 19, 1896 and will die in Pendleton, Oregon on April 7, 1959. He married Hazel September 22, 1917. After James died in 1959, Hazel married Raymond ‘Chub’ Longhorn in April 1965.  Raymond only made it till he died in 1970. She was born September 9, 1899 in Minnesota and will die in Pendleton, Oregon May 29, 2003 at age 103. He and his family were in Lake County Oregon in 1910 and in Deschutes County Oregon in 1920 and 1930 and he was in Umatilla County in 1935. Family was out of Sutton, Massachusetts before going to Minnesota.

 

ANN PUTNAM  Silver Springs, Clackamas County

Ann L. Meeks is now 70 MO and still widowed. She was married to John Hughes Putman in Wheeler County up through the 1920 and then was widowed here in 1930. John was a son of Newton Putman and Nancy Stockton from Polk County Missouri. She was born in Missouri in May 1869 and will die here November 21, 1953. Southern Putman family South Carolina to Tennessee to Henry County Missouri in the late 1830s.

 

HAROLD L. (LOREN) PUTTMAN Wauna, Clatsop County

He is 31 WA and his wife Helen Ethel Kola is 24 OR and  Carolyn 1 OR. His folks are Loren Putman and Minnie Ellen Byles Putman from Grays Harbor Washington where he was born March 31, 1909. He will die eventually in Portland, Oregon August 12, 1957. He married Eva Marie Barkhurst  December 1, 1932 and they split and he married Helen here July 25. 1938. They will split and he will re-marry Eva up in Washington July 31, 1948. Eva married 3 other guys since she was married to Harold. Harold and Eva are here in 1950. Helen will marry Vernon Kreiger and they are in Columbia County Oregon in 1950 and Carolyn is with them. I earlier did not find Harold in 1950 when I was doing it. But later I checked all the states for Rutman listings and in many, including Harold’s Rutman listing, they were Putmans.

 

JAMES G. (GERALD) PUTNAM  Rainer, Columbia County

He is 46 NE IL MO and a stacker at a lumber mill. His wife Pearl Enola Gillmouthe is 42 KS and they have Geraldine 18 CAN, James C. 15 WA, and Malcolm G. 11 WA. He is a son of James Warren Putman and Amanda Bell from Brown County Illinois. He was born October 8, 1893 in Illinois and will die in Portland Oregon February 21, 1971. He married Pearl in Calgary, Alberta Canada on November 29, 1920. He was at home in Schuyler County Illinois in 1900 and Brown County in 1910 and then was in Alberta in 1920. They were in Cowlitz County Oregon in 1930 and here in 1935.

 

CARL E. (EDISON) PUTMAN  St. Helens, Columbia County

He is 22 MT and his wife Irene Kinsey 22 ND. He is a son of Joseph Landis Putman and Ann Emily Wolla. He was born in Custer County Montana and was with the folks there in 1920 and with them in Tioga, Williams County North Dakota in 1930 and 1935. He married Irene there. His dad was a son of John Henry Putman and Martha Harriet Jones from Marshall County, Kentucky. He was born January 25, 1883 in Hardin, Kentucky. He was home there in 1900, and then out to the Dakotas and in Custer County, Montana in 1920. They are here in 1950 with 2 kids. Southern Putmans.

 

HAROLD D. (DOUGLAS) PUTNAM  Marshfield, Coos County

He s 54 PA and his new wife Dorothy Matilda Hagen is 49 MN. He is a son of Francis Emery Putnam and Theodosia Victoria Graves of Wayne County Pennsylvania. He was born there February 3, 1886. He married Roseline Spears June 5, 1909 here in Coos County. They were divorced in the 1920s and living separately in Coos County in 1930. He married Dorothy Matilda Hagen June 21, 1936. She was born in Fillmore County Minnesota February 2, 1891 and will die in Union County Oregon June 17, 1979. He will die in Portland July 15, 1968. New England family.

 

EDWARD W. (WILLIAM) PUTNAM  North Bend, Coos County

He is 39 WA and his second wife Pearl is 38 KY. He was in Great Falls, Montana in 1935 and she was in Portland. They operate a Beer Parlor. Edward William Putnam is a son of William M. Putman and Alice Miranda Wainscott from Llano County Texas and then up into Washington where he married Alice. Southern Putmans through Madison DeKalb Putman from Kentucky and then South Carolina. He was born in Bridgeport, Douglas County Washington January 3, 1897. He was single with his mom in 1910 and single in Lincoln County Washington in 1920. There is a marriage certificate that Lois Talkington/Tarkington was married to Edward W. Putnam September 11, 1920 in Spokane, Washington. They were divorced in the early 1930s. He was in Wenatchee, Chelan County Washington and was listed as married in the 1930 Census there, but Lois wasn’t there. He was single in Great Falls, Montana in 1935. In 1940 he was married to Pearl from Kentucky and they were in North Bend, Coos County Oregon. He died in Washington, Daviess County Indiana May 25, 1980. Agnes Wininger was listed as his wife on his death certificate.

 

FRANK PUTMAN  North Bend, Coos County

He is 31 ND MO MO and just married to Thelma May Moy 25 MI. He is Frank Edwin Putman a son of Lafayette Putman and Verdia Summers from Towner County North Dakota. He was home there in 1910 and 1920 and then single here in 1930. He married Thelma May Moy April 26, 1932 and they were here in 1935.  They will divorce and he is here alone in 1950. He was born in North Dakota May 19, 1908 and will die here in Bend in 1974. Thelma was born right here in Bend in May 1908 and will die here July 25, 1981. This family is out of Gilmer County West Virginia and from Fauquier County Virginia before that. They were then in Audrain and Pike County Missouri before coming up here. Part of the Southern Putman family.

 

ROBERT PUTMAN  Englewood, Coos County

He is 38 ID OR IL and a planer at a lumber sawmill. His wife Leona Joanna Velure is 38 IA and they have Robert H. 11 OR and Ronald 9 OR. Robert Harvey Putman is a son of Thurston Lane Putman from Brownsville, Linn County. His dad died in 1912 and he was at home with his mother Olive Harriet Wycoff Putman there in 1920 and then married here in 1930 and 1935. He was born March 9, 1902 in Kamiah, Idaho. He married Leona Johanna Velure on February 8, 1926 in Coos County Oregon. She was born December 22, 1901 in Howard County Iowa and died in Clackamas County Oregon February 24, 1997. He died in Coos Bay, Coos County Oregon November 27, 1983. Southern Putman family from Illinois.

 

RAY L. (LANE) PUTNAM  Prineville, Crook County

He is 56 WY and his wife Norma Celestina Winans is 43 IL. He works in a lumberyard. He is a son of Lewis and Rena Putnam from Iowa. He was here with his widowed mother in 1920 and married here in 1930 and 1935. Lewis was a son of William Rodman Putnam (2258) and was born in Oswego County NY. William’s father was Jedediah Putnam (979) from Connecticut.

 

GUY M. (MELVIN) PUTNAM  Prineville, Crook County

He is 46 ID, his wife Mabel Ellen Orcutt 47 MN and Irwin 13 ID. They were in Payette, Canyon County Idaho in 1935 and he was born there August 13, 1893. He is a carpenter for a building contractor. He is a son of John Edgar Putnam and Mary Aurila Hunt from Wisconsin. His dad was a son of John P. Putnam and Lucy Hyde from Westfield, Sauk County Wisconsin. He was in Payette Canyon County in 1900 and 1910 and married in Snake River, Malheur County Idaho in 1920 and in Fair, Malheur County in 1930, then Canyon County in 1935 the here. Family out of New England.

 

ELWYN PUTNAM  Bend, Deschutes County

He is now 39 OR his wife Mary Edith Hall is 28 MO and Elwyn Lee 18 OR and Mary Ellen 12 OR. He is a son of Walter Ernest Putnam and Amie Williams from Umatilla County. Walter was a son of Goyne McCoy Putnam from Illinois and New York before that. He and Mary were married November 27, 1920 in Yakima Washington. They were here in 1930 and will be in 1950. He is an automobile salesman.

 

FAYETTE H. (HENRY) PUTNAM  Bend, Deschutes County

He is 53 MN MN MN and still a night watchman at a lumber mill. He is widowed as his wife Flora Belair had died June 20, 1920. He is a son of George Fayette Putnam and Mary Ellen Drew from Sherburne County Minnesota. Fayette was born in Big Lake, Minnesota January 31, 1887 and will die here in Bend August 5, 1970. He married Flora in Sherburne, Minnesota in November 1910. Flora was born April 12, 1888 in Terrebonne, Minnesota and died back in Elk River, Minnesota June 20, 1920. His folks came out here by 1910. He was still in Minnesota in 1920 and then out here after Flora died.

 

JOHN E. (ELMER) PUTNAM  Bend, Deschutes County

He is 23 MN and his wife Rose Ella Holback is 19 KS. He is a son of Fayette Henry Putnam here in town. John was born April 12, 1916 in Elk River, Sherburne County Minnesota and will die in Eugene, Lane County Oregon November 7, 1998. They are in Klamath County in 1950.

 

SIMON H. (HUGH) PUTNAM  Bend, Deschutes County

He is 65 MI and his wife Daisy Odell 63 MN. He is a son of John Putman and Caroline Huffman. He was at home in Wexford County Michigan in the 1880 census. He married Daisy here in Lane County and they were there in 1900 through 1935. He will die in Springfield, Lane County July 23, 1962. Daisy will die there December 28, 1951. He is working on a forestry project. Dutch Family out of New York State.

 

PHILIP H. (HEZEKIAH) PUTNAM  Oakland, Douglas County

He is listed as 32 SD, his wife Daisy Maye Harris 29 KS, his married sister Dorthhea Richardson 29 SD and Daisy’s sister Mildred Harris 17 SD. He is a son of Hezekiah Putnam and Nancy Bondurant and was born in Custer County South Dakota June 28, 1908 and was with his widowed and remarried mom in Hot Springs, Fall River County South Dakota in 1920. He married Daisy in South Dakota November 25, 1936. She was born in Soldier, Kansas March 9, 1911 and will die in Benton County Oregon September 22, 1998. Phil will die in Minnesota October 13, 1966. His dad Hezekiah was a son of Jay Samuel Putnam and Rebecca Sutton from Carroll County Iowa and then Wisconsin, New York, Connecticut before that.

He is 19 OR single and working on a farm. He is Robert Chester Putnam son of Robert Roy and Marie Putnam from Clackamas. He is also listed there at home with his folks.

He is 53 MO and his wife Bertha 60 OR. Says they were right here in 1935. He is an automobile mechanic. Charles Otho is a son of George Washington Putman and Victoria Ross and was born June 29, 1888 in Lamain, Missouri and will die in Spokane Washington March 14, 1964. Southern Putman family out of Greene County Missouri. In 1920 he is married to Ella Evelyn Hiatt and they are in Clarkson, Asotin County Washington. They got divorced and in 1930 she was remarried to Ed Wilkins in Clallam County Washington. Charles was in Umatilla County Oregon in 1930 with his brother William. Charles was born June 29, 1888 in Lamain, Missouri and will die in Spokane, Washington March 14, 1964.

 

RUSSELL E. (ERNEST) PUTNAM  Waucoma, Hood River County

He is 35 OK, his wife Pauline Goldie Rotroff 31 OK and they have Dale R. 7 OK. He is a salesman at a Co-Op. He is a son of Charles Henry Putnam and his second wife Georgia Louise Paddock. He was born in Oklahoma City January 15, 1905 and was with his folks in Pasadena, California in 1910. Then they got divorced and he was with his mother who had married Milford Dixon and they were in Helena, Alfalfa County Oklahoma in 1920. Russell is single in Grant County Oklahoma in 1930 and married February 15, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma and living in Jefferson County Oklahoma in 1935 and here now. Goldie was born in Oklahoma April 22, 1908 and will die is Sweetwater, Payne County Oklahoma November 1, 2000. Russell will die there in Sweetwater October 16, 1988. They will have 2 sons. The son Dale Russell Putnam was born January 31, 1933. New England Family out of Vermont and Massachusetts earlier.

He is 65 PA, his son Francis 31 OR and has a lodger Orville Parett 36 OR. He is a bookkeeper for a construction company. He was a contractor in Yamhill County in 1930. He is also listed there in Newberg, Yamhill County now with the family. He is a son of Francis Emery Putnam and Theodosia Victoria Graves. He married Mabel Tewksbury in PA in 1898, and was divorced in 1904. He then married Lillian Phoebe Andrews in Portland on July 5, 1905. They have been there up until 1930 when they were in Newberg, Yamhill County. New England family.

 

DAVID PUTMAN  Ashland, Jackson County

He is 21 WA single and owns a radio service shop. Troy David Putnam is a son of William Putman and Amanda Woody and was born while the family was in Garfield County Washington. He married Savilla Christen Haverland on August 28, 1918, and is in Linn County 1n 1920 and 1930. Savilla was born in Brownsville November 11, 1901. Savilla died or they got divorced as he will marry Laura Esther Morris April 7, 1944. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa April 24, 1898. He will have three children with Savilla. He will die back in Linn County May 5, 1973.

 

JAMES A. (ALFRED) PUTMAN  Ashland, Jackson County

He is 55 WA and his wife Grace Hilda Byer is 52 OR and their son James Byer is 24 OR. This is the same house they were here in 1935. He owns an automobile dealership. He is another son of William Henry Putman and Amanda Woody from Linn County. He was there in 1910 in Washington County in 1920 and here in Jackson County since the later 1920s. He was born in Garfield, Whitman County Washington December 6, 1884 and will die in Douglas County Oregon October 23, 1968. He married Grace Byer in Brownsville, Linn County May 27, 1905. She was born June 22, 1887 in Brownsville and will die October 10, 1973 in Drain, Douglas County, Oregon. James will die in Drain October 23, 1968.

 

JOSEPH J. (JACKSON) PUTMAN  Ashland, Jackson County

He is now 85 OR and widowed now since Flora Robison has died. He is a son of Daniel Bennett Putman and his second wife Rebecca Keeney and was born in Linn County June 4, 1954. He married Flora L. Robison Mach 16, 1879 in Amity, Yamhill County Oregon. They were there in 1880 through the 1910 and in Corvallis, Benton County since then. Flora was born in Oregon in May 1856 and died in Corvallis in 1934. He was still there in 1935 and then came out here. He will be here till he dies July 4, 1945. Southern Putman family that came out here to Oregon from Illinois on the Oregon Trail in the 1840s.

 

WILLIAM PUTMAN  Ashland, Jackson County

William Henry Harrison Putman is now 81 OR, his wife Amanda Kisiah Woody is 75 KS and their son Ralph is 33 OR a garage mechanic and divorced. He is a son of David Hazeal Putman and Catherine May Lemaster and was born March 6, 1859 in McMinnville, Yamhill County Oregon and will die here in Ashland March 3, 1859. He married Amanda in Seaton, Idaho November 25, 1883. She was born in Leavenworth County Kansas March 10, 1865 and will die here in Jackson County January 7, 1948. They were in Whitman County Washington from the 1880s to about 1907 and then were back in Linn County Oregon and there in 1900 through 1930, and now here with their son. Ralph was here in 1930, married Bertha E. Leblanc in Ashland on October 29, 1930 and they got divorced in a few years and Thelma Margaret Taylor November 5, 1941 in Ashland. Ralph was born in Brownsville, Oregon May 30, 1907 and will die here July 18, 1982. Thelma was born in Ashland November 11, 1905 and will die here March 4, 1974.

 

GEORGE F. (FRANCIS) PUTMAN  Eagle Point, Jackson County

He is a farmer now 67 TN and widowed as his wife Minnie Geyer has died in the last few years. His son Edwin 40 MO, and daughter Minnie 23 KS are with him still. Also here is Lilly Putman who is 54 MO and widowed. Her daughter May 18 MT is with her. Lilly was married to George’s brother James Thomas Putman who died in Holt County Missouri in 1924. They were in Otero County Colorado in 1910 and Cascade County Montana in 1920. George was a son of Jeremiah Michael David Manasco Putman and America Jane Manses and was born in McNairy County Tennessee February 22, 1874. He married Minnie Lydia Geyer November 30, 1899 in Nodaway County Missouri and they were there in 1900, in Montrose County Colorado in 1910 then Kansas in 1920 and here by 1930. He will die here May 4, 1962. There is a Glen Putnam in Roxy Anna, Jackson County who is a son of theirs. I never find him with the family but found a family groups sheet saying George and Amy were his folks. He is listed below with what I could find on him.

 

FLOYD T. (THOMAS) PUTMAN  Medford, Jackson County

He is 46 WA and his wife Genie Ada Howe 41 OR and they have Eunice C. 14 OR and Audrey L. 9 OR. He is a vacuum cleaner salesman. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putman and Amanda Woody from Linn County Oregon. He was born when the family was in Washington, and was born April 1, 1893 in Garfield, Whitman County Washington and home in 1910 in Linn County. In 1920 he is married to Genie Ada Howe and is in Brownsville, Linn County Oregon. They are in Ashland, Jackson County Oregon in 1930, and then they are in Baker County Oregon in 1935 and then here in Medford, in the 1940 census. Genie was born in Oregon in December 1897 and will die in Eugene, Florida June 1, 1968. Floyd will die in Ashland, Jackson County Oregon April 5, 1960. Southern Putman family.

 

SETH W. PUTMAN  Medford, Jackson County

He is 21 MT and his wife Ruth B. Banish 22 MT and they have Tommy S. 1 OR. He is an adopted son of Mark Putman and Amy Cunningham, and was with the family here in 1930. Seth was born September 12, 1918 and will die in Medford, Jackson County April 15, 1970. He married Ruth December 7, 1937.

 

LOUIS L. (LESTER) PUTMAN  Medford, Jackson County

He is 33 NE, his wife Olive Ruth Stinson 37 OR and they have Louise R. 1 OR. Olive was married before and has a son Gerald. L. Warren 13 OR. He is a fireman in a lumber mill. She says she was here in 1935 and Louis says he was in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1935. He is a son of George Francis Putman and Minnie L. Geyer and was born in Adams, Gage County Nebraska July 21, 1906 and will die here in Medford August 29, 1952. He was with the family in 1910 in Montrose County Colorado then in Kansas in 1920 and then back here and still with his folks in 1930 in Phoenix, Jackson County. He married Olive in Myrtle Creek, Jackson County on October 7, 1936.  Olive had married Harold Albertus Warren here in Medford December 8, 1921. They were in Yakima Washington in 1930 and she was back here by 1935. She was born here in Jackson County February 13, 1903 and will die in Myrtle Creek, Douglas County Oregon July 6, 1985. G. (GEORGE) FRANCIS PUTMAN  Medford, Jackson County

He is 38 NE and his wife Gertrude Adamson 31 OR. He is a son of George Francis Putman and Minnie L. Geyer and was born in Adams, Gage County Nebraska. He was with the family in 1910 in Montrose County Colorado then in Kansas in 1920 and then back here and still with his folks in 1930 in Phoenix, Jackson County. He was there in 1935 and then he married Gertie September 25, 1939 and moved here. He is a lumber piler in a mill probably with his brother Louis who is here in town. His dad, listed above, works in a mill as well.

 

GLENN I. (IRWIN) PUTMAN Roxy Anna, Jackson County

He is 35 IA, his wife Charlene Wilson is 27 OR and they have Merrill M. 8 OR and Glenda Ann 6 OR. There is also Mae A. Stuart 58 CA listed as a friend. I never have seen him, but found a family group sheet saying his folks were Mark Putman and Amy Cunningham. Says he was born April 19, 1904 in Newton County Iowa and will die in Coos County Oregon October 26, 1986. It also says his wife was Edith Stella Wright born in Tennessee June 29, 1905 and died in Orange California December 25, 1981. Mark was a son of Alfred Putman and Emily Ashworth from Fulton County Illinois. Alfred’s grandfather was Reding Putman who is my line. Mark married Leona Dean Ferguson June 3, 1899, and moved to Oregon. This is the first time I have seen him out here. Amy Cunningham is a second wife. Southern Putman family.

 

CLYDE D. PUTMAN  Grants Pass, Josephine County Oregon

He is 58 IA and his wife Maude Marie Osborne is 47 WA. He is a pharmacist in a drug store and she is the bookkeeper there. He is a son of Jasper Newton Putman and Elizabeth Grant of Davis County Iowa. He was home there in 1900. He was single here in Union County Oregon in 1910. They were married March 1, 1911 and were in Union County Oregon in 1920 and 1930 and then here by 1935. Southern Putman family

 

DANIEL B. (BENNETT) PUTMAN  Grants Pass, Josephine County

He is 65 OR and single. He is a son of John Harrison Putman and Hannah Louisa Woodfin from Linn County. He was born August 18, 1874. In 1900 he is in Walla Walla County Washington and unmarried. He is back in Yamhill County Oregon still single in 1910 and 1920. In 1930 he is in the U. S. Penitentiary at McNeil Island, Washington. Southern family of Daniel Putman who came out here from Fulton County Illinois in the 1840s on the Oregon Trail.

 

A. (ARTHUR) N. PUTNAM  Murphy, Josephine County

He is 36 OR, his wife Evelyn Mae Herr 30 OR and they have three sons, Lawrence Lyle 9 OR, E. L. 3 OR and Maraly (?) 2 OR. He is a son of Herbert Eugene Putnam and Stella Cole from Winnebago County Illinois and then Rock County Wisconsin Herbert was a son of Goyne McCoy Putnam and Lavina Babcock from Erie County Pennsylvania. Arthur was born September 11, 1904 in Umatilla County Oregon and then went with his folks in Walla Walla County Washington in 1910 and 1920. His folks moved to Yolo County California in the 1930 and Arthur moved back here to Union County Oregon by 1930 and now here. His dad died in Medford, Jackson County January 5, 1934 and his widowed mom was there in 1935 and is here now. He will die in Grants Pass, Josephine County March 14, 1989. Evelyn was born in Union County Oregon in 1910 and will die in Grants Pass July 15, 2005. New England Family that went to Canada early on.

 

S. (STELLA) A.  PUTNAM  Murphy, Josephine County

Stella Cole is 58 TX and now widowed as her husband Herbert Eugene Putnam died January 5, 1934. Her daughter Lorene 44 OR is with her. She lives with her son Arthur listed above. Stella was born in Dallas, Texas July 29, 1878 and will die in Merlin, Josephine County October 13, 1964. She and her eldest daughter are Union County Oregon in 1950.

 

EDMOND B. (BURTON) PUTMAN  Redwood, Josephine County

He is 54 AR, his wife Mary Frances Bradford is 51 OK and they still have James Davis 20 AR, William Glenn 17 AR and Edmond Burton Jr. 10 CA. He is a son of John Lee Putman and Mary Jane Deason from Benton County Arkansas. He was born there born October 16, 1885. He married Mary Frances Bradford in 1910 in Rogers, Arkansas. Mary was born June 20, 1888 in Muskogee, Muskogee County Oklahoma. They were in Orange County California in the 1930s and then moved to Oregon. Bert died in Grants Pass, Josephine County Oregon on June 30, 1954 and Mary died there on February 18, 1967. They are in Grants Pass, Josephine County in 1950. Southern Putman Family.

 

ELDRED L. (LAMONT) PUTNAM  Homedale, Klamath County

He is 33 OR and his wife Doris E. Crandall is 32 OR. He had married Dorothy Yost in Newberg, Yamhill County in 1937 and they divorced shortly afterwards. Then he marred Doris October 21, 1939 here in Klamath Falls. He is a son of Louis Lamont Putnam and Lillian Andrews and was at home with them in Yamhill County in 1930 as well as being single here then. He was born in North Bend, Coos County Oregon September 8, 1906 and will die in Portland June 16, 1992. Doris was born in Linn County July 9, 1907 and will die in Yamhill County February 19, 1981. After Doris died he married Edith June Balcomb later in 1981. She died in Portland March 27, 1990. New Englanders.

 

CHARLES O. (OTIS) PUTMAN  Klamath Falls, Klamath County

He is 37 WA and his wife Linda Pearl is 35 AR. They have William J. 11 OR. He is a car man on the railroad. He was here in 1930 married to Aleta Cozart born in Oregon who he married in Jackson County July 18, 1925. I have no idea who Linda is but she is listed in the local phone book here with him in 1938 and in 1942. He was listed with Aleta as his wife here in 1936. So something happened between 1930 and 1936. He will later marry Mabel Elda Baur in December 1954. He is a car man for the railroad. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putman and Amanda Woody who are back in Linn County. He was born when the family was up in Washington. Southern Putman family.

 

HESTER PUTMAN  Klamath Falls, Klamath County

She is 40 OR and widowed since her husband Harvey has died. Her son Gailen is 21 OR and daughter Barbara is 19 OR. Hester Yancy was married to Harvey Putman who died here October 7, 1931. She will later marry a Matts man and die here in 1976. Harvey was a son of George and Maggie Putman as shown in Waukesha County Wisconsin in 1900. Dutch family from New York State. Harvey was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin June 6, 1883.

 

ROSS L. (LA VERNE) PUTNAM  Keno, Klamath County

He is 44 NE and his wife Alice Marie Pearson is 42 KS and Harold L. 19 CA and Leonard R. 13 OR are still at home.  They were in Jackson County in 1930 and Ashland County in 1935. He is a son of Willis Putnam and Grace Lewis from Wisconsin and then Nebraska. He was at home in Dodge County Nebraska in 1900 and in Redlands California in 1910. They were just married in Los Angeles in 1920. Ross was born November 26, 1895 in Scribner, Nebraska and will die May 7, 1954 in Brookings, Oregon. He married Alice in Redlands, California June 4, 1917. Alice was born in Labette County Kansas November 14,1897 and will die in Klamath Falls January 13, 1981. He is a janitor at the High School. He will be a logger in Curry County in 1950. New England family.

 

NED S. (STANLEY) PUTNAM Keno, Klamath County

He is 21 CA and his wife Juanita B. Young is 20 WA. He is a log scaler at a logging camp. He is a son of Ross Leonard Putnam and Alice Pearson. He was born in Los Angeles and there in 1920. He was at home here in Pinehurst, Jackson County in 1930 and in Ashland, Jackson County in 1935. Ned was born in 1918 and will die in Klamath County Oregon January 16, 2001. He married Juanita Young. She was born in Deer Park, Washington March 6, 1920 and will die in Klamath Falls August 19, 2009. His folks live a few houses away here in town.

 

KING G. (GEORGE) PUTNAM South Warner, Lake County

He is 36 IA and divorced. He is working on a farm.  He is a son of George Nelson Putnam and Julia King. He was born in Portland, Plymouth County Iowa August 29, 1903 and will die in Pennington County South Dakota December 19, 1958. He was in Pennington County in 1910, Hanson County South Dakota in 1920 and back in Pennington County in 1930. Dutch family from New York.

 

DOROTHY PUTNAM  Eugene, Lane County

She is 25 OR and has a daughter Lois A. Putnam 1 OR. They live with her mother Mabel Yost 58 KS and her husband William H. Yost 58 PA. Dorothy and her family were in Newberg Yamhill County in 1930 at the same time and place as Louis Lamont. I checked and his son Eldred married Dorothy in 1937 and got divorced soon afterwards and then he marred Doris Crandall October 21, 1939 in Klamath Falls.

 

JAMES E. (EUGENE)  PUTNAM  Eugene, Lane County

He is 22 CO single and boarding. He is a son of Orlo Burr Putnam and Lillian Dedman Hickman from Durango, La Plata County Colorado. Orlo is a son of Joseph Eugene Putnam and Grace Helen Gray, and was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1900. James was born in La Plata County November 12, 1917 and will die in Bend, Deschutes County Oregon in December 1973. He was the pilot of a plane that crashed. He will marry Borghilda Alfreida something or someone who was born May 27, 1917 and will die in Multnomah January 17, 1990.

 

MARTIN PUTNAM  Eugene, Lane County

He is 24 WY, his wife Ida Theresa Redalen is 23 ND and they have Natalie 6/12 OR. They were married here September 27, 1938. Martin Arthur Putnam is a son of Harry Franklin Putnam and Grace Georgia Merrill and was born in Sunshine, Park County Wyoming July 23, 1915. Harry is a son of Arthur Oliver Putnam and May Franklin and was at home in Walpole, Cheshire County New Hampshire in 1900. He was born there July 27, 1889 and will die in Nevada County California January 31, 1962. Grace is a daughter of Martin Merrill and Nettie Wilkinson and was born August 31, 1891 in Compton, Quebec Canada and will die in Riverside, California December 27, 1966.  They were in Park County Wyoming in 1910, Epping, Rockingham County New Hampshire in 1920 and in Portland, Maine by 1930. He was still in rural Maine in 1935. Martin will die out here in Medford Jackson County Oregon October 29, 1988. Ida was born August 7, 1916 in Hettinger, Adams County North Dakota and will die here August 19, 2004.

 

CHARLES PUTMAN  Row River, Lane County

He is 45 ID, his wife Abbie M. Scouton is 39 MN and they have Clyde Arthur 11 OR, Betty Jean 9 OR and Edna Irene 7 OR. Charles Simeon Putman is a son of Thurston Lane Putman and Olive Wycoff. His folks were from Oregon. Thurston was a son of David Hazeal Putman from Linn County Oregon. Thurston moved to Idaho County Idaho and was there, as was Charles, in 1900. They returned to Oregon where Thurston died in 1913. In 1920 he was in Yakima County Washington and was married to Olive May Pitcher from Oregon. They were married in Nez Perce County Idaho February 4, 1917. He married Abbie here in Lane County December 16, 1927 and they were here in Lane County in 1930 and 1935. He is a farmer. His mom has remarried and is here in the County now too. Charles was born November 28, 1894. Abbie was born in Hewitt, Minnesota October 22, 1900 and will die in Cottage Grove, Lane County on March 24, 1977. Charles will die November 26, 1974 just 2 days before his 80th birthday. ELSIE PUTNAM  Springfield, Lane County

She is 33 ID and divorced. She is living with her mother Olive 68 IL and her stepfather Harry C. Wickham 70 MO. Olive Harriet Wycoff was married to Thurston Lane Putnam who was born here in Linn County Oregon July 7, 1857. They were married July 4, 1890. They were in Idaho in 1900 and 1910 and he died back here in Brownsville, Linn County Oregon September 21, 1912. Olive married Harry and was with him in Brownsville in 1920 and here in Lane County in 1930. Then Elsie Ellen was born March 8, 1907 and married Joseph Stimen July 2, 1929. They were divorced and she will soon marry Harry B. Jones and will die in Eugene, Oregon May 8, 1990. Southern Putman line. Fulton County Illinois to Linn County Oregon in 1847.

 

JOHN H. (HARRISON) PUTMAN  Springfield, Lane County

He is 41 ID, his wife Naomi Tower is 39 IN and they have Helen Maxine 19 OR and Eloise V. 9 OR. Also here is Naomi’s widowed father James A. Tower 65 IN as he was in 1930. John Harrison Putman is a son of Thurston Lane Putman and Olive Wycoff. His folks were from Oregon. Thurston was a son of David Hazeal Putman from Linn County Oregon. Thurston moved to Idaho County Idaho and was there in 1900. They returned to Oregon where Thurston died in 1913. John was born January 29, 1899. He married Naomi Alberta Tower May 24, 1919. She was born in Crawford County Indiana November 21, 1900 and died in Eugene, Lane County Oregon July 13, 1993. They are in Linn County in 1920 and in Lane County in 1930. He died there in Springfield September 21, 1973. They had one other daughter, Elva Cleone Putman was born in Eugene, Lane County November 16, 1924 and just died here February 16, 1940. L. W. (LEE WALLACE) PUTMAN  Springfield, Lane County

He is 42 ID, his wife Eliza Clarine Barker is 40 MN and they have at home Jolana Barker 19 OR, Roberta Lee 18 OR and Thomas Leighton 12 OR. He is a son of Thurston Lane Putman and Olive Harriet Wycoff. They were in the Kamah Precinct of Idaho County in 1900. The family came back to Linn County about 1910, and his dad died there in 1912. Thurston was a son of David Hazeal Putman and Catherine Lemaster. He was born August 20, 1897 and will die in Eugene, Oregon December 31, 1964. He married Eliza Clarine Barker December 25, 1917. She was born in Gordonsville, Freeborn County Minnesota December 9, 1899 and will die here in Springfield, Lane County July 18, 1983. Southern Putman Family that came out to Oregon from Illinois in 1846.

 

CLIFFORD PUTMAN  Wendling, Lane County

He is 30 WA and married. His wife Lillian Ruth Petit is 33 OR and they have Vernon 10 OR. He is a son of George Elmer Putman and Goldie Banche Kanst. George Elmer Putman is a son of John A. Putman and Mary Caroline Huffman and was born in Wexford County Michigan April 24, 1879. John was from New York State. Clifford Valentine Putman was born in Snohomish County Washington February 14, 1910 and was in Yakima County Washington in 1920. I don’t find in 1930 but they were here in 1935 and most likely in 1930 as that’s when and where Vernon was born. His brother Russell lives with him. Clifford will die here in Lane County January 9, 1991. Lilly was born here December 2, 1906 and will die here September 30, 2001. Dutch Family from New York.

He is 41 ID married and working in a logging camp. He is also listed back home in Springfield with his wife Naomi and family.

 

RUSSELL PUTMAN  Wendling, Lane County

He is 27 WA, his wife Edith Fern Pelley is 21 IA and they have Pearl 5 WA, Betty 4 WA and Lois 2 WA. He lives with his brother Clifford listed earlier. He was born June 5, 1913 and will die in Oregon City, Oregon in May 1987. He is a son of George Elmer Putman and Goldie Blanche Kanst. George Elmer Putman is a son of John A. Putman and Mary Caroline Huffman from Michigan and New York before that. Dutch Family.

 

WINIFRED H. PUTNAM  North Toledo, Lincoln County

She is 23 IL single and lodging. She is a daughter of Lemuel P. Putnam and Edna Mosher and was with them in Portland, Multnomah County in 1930. Lemuel is a preacher and the son of Jay Samuel Putnam and Rebecca Sutton. He was in Carroll County Iowa in 1880 and in Custer County South Dakota in 1900. They were in Chicago in 1920.

 

TROY PUTMAN  Albany, Linn County

He is 41 WA, his wife Savilla Christen Haverland 39 OR and they have Ruth Etta 8 OR. He is a miller at a Flour Mill. Troy David Putman is a son of William Henry Harrison Putman and Amanda Kisiah Woody from here. Troy was born in Washington like most the kids when the family was there in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He was born February 21, 1899 and home in 1910. In 1920 he has just married Savilla Christen Haverland on August 28, 1918, and is in Linn County. They are there in 1930 and 1940. He had three children with Savilla. Savilla was born in Brownsville November 11, 1901. Savilla died or they divorced as he married Laura Esther Morris April 7, 1944. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa April 24, 1898. She died in 1967, and he then married Irma Ellen Randle in Lebanon, Linn County November 19, 1969. He died in Lebanon, Linn County May 5, 1973.

 

W. E. (WILLIAM ERNEST) PUTMAN  East Brownsville, Linn County

He is 51 WA OR KS, his wife Lillis Lewellyn Mays is 34 OR and Marie Virginia is 24 OR. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putman and Amanda Kisiah Woody from here. He was born in Washington like most the kids when the family was there in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He was born June 16, 1887 in Garfield, Whitman County Washington and home there in 1900 and here in Linn County by 1910. He married Lillis Lewellyn Mays November 30, 1913. She was born in Lane County October 10, 1898 and died in Brownsville, Linn County June 4, 1961. In 1920, he is in Benton County Oregon with Lillie. They are back in Brownsville, Linn County in 1930 and 1940. He died there May 3, 1960. They had the one daughter Marie Virginia Putman born February 13, 1916.

 

EDWARD PUTMAN  Center, Linn County

He is 21 OR and his wife Norman Harrison is 20 OR. They were married in Albany, Linn County. September 28, 1939. He is Edward Charles Putman a son of Troy David Putman and his first wife Savilla Haverland, and was born in Brownsville, Linn County March 22, 1919 and was with his folks there in 1920 and 1930 and will die there April 9, 2020. Norma was born in Linn County August 24, 1919 and will die in Albany Linn County December 30, 1955. He will marry someone in 1956, but the name is ‘private’. He will later marry Carole Lynne Rubin in Broward County Florida on July 12, 1975. Southern Putmans.

 

NEIL D. (DURWOOD) PUTMAN  Sweet Home, Linn County

He is 33 OR, his wife Helen Marie is 26 WA and they have Shirley Edith 5 OR and James Warren 4, OR. He works in a logging camp. He is a son of Wilbur Horace Putman and Ruby May Stone and was born in Linn County. His dad died October 28, 1918 and he was with his widowed mother here in 1920 and 1930. Will was a son of James Lee Putman and Mary Ellen Ewing from here. Southern Putman family like most everyone in Linn County.

 

CLIFFORD PUTNAM  Applegate, Malheur County

He is 30 OR, his wife Edna Mae Scott is 22 CA and they have a son Milford 1 OR. He is a son of the following Edgar Putnam. Clifford Earl was born February 2, 1910 and will die in Fresno County California September 27, 1982.

 

EDGAR AJA PUTNAM  Applegate, Malheur County

He is 65 WI and his wife Nellie Smith is 56 IA. born He is a son of John and Mary Putnam and was born in Sauk County Wisconsin November 2, 1974. He was with the family in Canyon County Idaho in 1900 and then was with his dad and married to Nellie in 1910 and 1920 here in Malheur County Oregon. In 1930 and 1935 they were in Fresno County California. Edgar will die in June 1950. Nellie was in 1883 and will die in 1963. New England family.

 

JOSEPH E. (EUGENE) PUTNAM  Chemawa, Marion County

He is 81 MI and his wife Grace Helen Gray is 80 IN. They live with their widowed daughter Demma E. Bunnell 40 SD. Joseph Eugene Putnam is a son of Aaron Putnam and Catherine Isabelle Cobb, and was born in Clarendon, Michigan. They were in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1900 and Demmie was 3 years old then. They are in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1910. They were in Denver through 1930 and then out here by 1935. He will die here in Salem, Marion County April 29, 1952. Grace is a daughter of Orlo Burr Gray and Demmis Maria Amsden and was born in Steuben County Indiana September 13, 1859 and will die in Salem, Oregon October 5, 1942. Demma is a schoolteacher for the blind. Demma will die in Salem November 16, 1991. New England Family.

 

FRANK A. (ADDISON) PUTNAM  Marion, Marion County

He is 58 IA, his wife Minnie Carey 55 MI and they have Melvin 21 MN, Ruth 16 NE and Miles 11 NE. He is working on highway construction. Frank Addison is a son of William Addison Putnam and Rosetta Earle from Carroll County Iowa. He was at home in 1880 and 1900. He was then married in 1910 in Lincoln County Nebraska. The family went to Canada in 1914 and was in Minnesota in 1917 and 1918 and back out here in Charles Mix County South Dakota in 1920. Frank and Minnie and this family were in Charles Mix County South Dakota in 1920. Then they were in Dawson County Nebraska in 1930 and 1935.

 

ALICE PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

She is 38 OR single and lodging. She is a secretary for the State highway department. She is a daughter of James Buchanan Putman and Mary Agnes Wait from here in Salem. She was home with them up till now. Southern Putman family from Henry County Missouri. The family came out here in the late 1870s.

 

CLARENCE F. PUTMAN  Salem, Marion County

He is 45 NY, his wife Lucille M. 35 IN and they have Diane H. 8 CA. He is a cash register salesman. They were in Whittier, Los Angeles County in 1935. In 1900 Ira Putnam and Louisa Guyette had a Clarence F. born in 1893 while they were living in Washington County New York. This is the guy. He was married to a Rose in Yonkers, Westchester County New York in 1920 and with her in St. Cloud, Minnesota in 1930. Dutch Family from New York.

 

CLEDA PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

She is 37 OR and divorced. Cleda O. McFarland was married to Robert Merle Putman here in 1920. They divorced by 1926 when Merle married a Myrtle and they are in San Francisco in 1930. Their son Robert Merle Jr in in Fairgrounds Marion County in 1930. He is listed as a foster son with James and Edna Long.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

He is 67 LA and his sister Elizabeth 64 MS. Been here since the early 1900s. They are kids of Oramel Putnam and Mary Melissa Gibson. His folks were from Orange County Vermont. Oramel was a son of George Putnam and Clarissa Watson from Middlesex, Washington County and then Orange County Vermont. George was a son of Seth Putnam and Anna Holden from Charlestown, New Hampshire. George and his sister were born on a ‘layover’ in the Gulf. The family then moved to San Francisco where his dad died. They were in Medford, Jackson County Oregon with their widowed mom in 1910. They were  here in Salem in 1930 and Mary was 84 VT then. George is a newspaper editor and publisher and has been ever since he came here. Obviously New Englanders.

 

HATTIE PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

She is 44 KS and widowed. She has David L. 18 OR and Rebecca N. 17 OR. Hattie Marie Luthy was married to Welcome Ray Putnam who died her December 4, 1922. He was born in Buffalo Gap, Custer County South Dakota in July 1892. He was a son of Jay Samuel Putnam and Rebecca Charlotte Sutton. Jay died in 1920 and Rebecca in 1925, so the whole family was gone by 1930. His dad Jay was a son of Hezekiah Putnam and Orilla Aylsworth and was born back in Chenango County New York. He is 62 CA and widowed. He is in the Oregon State Hospital for the Insane and was here in 1935. Haven’t seen him before this. Good luck, probably a misspelled name.

 

ORLO BURR PUTNAM  Salem, Marion County

He is 54 SD, his wife Lillian Dedman Hickman is 53 NM and they have Pauline E. 24 NM, James E. 22 CO, Helen Logan 19 MO, William Gray 16 MO and Barbara J. 15 NE. He is a son of Joseph Eugene Putnam and Grace Helen Gray. He was born in Centerville, Fauk County South Dakota March 1, 1886 and will die down in Sacramento, California in June 11, 1953. Lillian was born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico March 21, 1887 and will die in Sacramento December 12, 1980. His folks also no live here in Marion County. Joseph Eugene Putnam is a son of Aaron Putnam and Catherine Isabelle Cobb, and was born in Clarendon, Michigan. They were in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1900 and Demmie was 3 years old then. They are in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1910. They were in Denver through 1930 and then out here by 1935. He will die here in Salem, Marion County April 29, 1952. Grace will die in Salem in a couple of years on October 9, 1942.

He is 36 NE, his wife Lucille Alive Evarts 33 NE and they have twins Milton E. 12 NE and Mildred 12 NE , and then Clayton 8 NE, Darlene 7 NE, Bernice 4 NE, Doris 3 NE, Lloyd 2 OR and Leonora 6/12 OR. Wonder just how many kids they will have at the rate of about one a year or so.   He is with the WPA (Works Progress Administration). They were in Gothenburg, Dawson County Nebraska in 1930 and 1935 and then out here a couple of years ago. He is a son of Frank Addison Putnam and Minnie Mariah Carey and was born in Ingham, Lincoln County Nebraska May 20, 1903. He will die here in Scotts Mills, Oregon January 13, 1957. He married Lucille in Ingham, Lincoln County May 18, 1927. Lucille was born in Moorefield, Nebraska August 11, 1906 and will die in Silverton, Oregon October 11, 1967.

He is 54 OR NY MO. His wife Elizabeth H. Tanner is 50 OR. He works for the City Newspaper and is a son of Arthur Moore Putnam and Helena Marie Kunst and was born here in Portland January 12, 1886. Arthur was a son of James Janse Putman and Catalina Van Buren from the New York Dutch family. He was born in Tribes Hill, Montgomery County New York December 2, 1845 and died here in Portland February 5, 1903.

 

HUGH L. (LAWRENCE) PUTNAM  Multnomah, Multnomah County

He is 54 CAN CAN CAN and a superintendent at a cooperage (barrel) shop. His wife Cecile Olive Winters is 41 OR and they have Lawrence D. 21 OR and Allen L. 17 OR. Hugh is a son of Arthur Putnam and Elizabeth Jane Lightbody from Onslow, Colchester, Nova Scotia. He was born there August 26, 1883. He will be here in Portland until he dies in 1983 in his 100th year. The family was originally from Massachusetts before going to Vermont and then up to Canada. They were here in Multnomah in 1930.

 

ADELIA L. PUTMAN-CRAMER  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 80 IA and widowed. Her son Charles 55 NE is with her. Now first time I see them is in the 1885 Nebraska and then 1900 Omaha, Nebraska. Her husband was William Putman-Cramer born in Holland. I have found her in Tipton, Cedar County Iowa with her folks Jacob and Sarah Cramer in 1860 and 1870. That’s where the Cramer comes in and William was Dutch and probably had his name changed to something that sounded like his real name. She and the kids were widowed here in 1930 and 1935.

He is 28 OR and his wife Christine Joan Leuween is 22 Canada East. He is a son of Richard Caswell Putnam and Elizabeth H. Tanner and was born here. His dad was a son of Arthur Moore Putnam and Lena Kunst and was also born here in Portland. Arthur was a son of James Janse Putman and Catalina Van Buren from the New York Dutch family. He was born in Tribes Hill, Montgomery County New York December 2, 1845 and died here in Portland February 5, 1903. New York Dutch folks.

He is 68 TN and his wife Annie Ingle 59 MO and Stephen R. 30 OR is still at home with them. Albert is a son of Isaiah Porter Putnam and Annie Reid from Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born there in February 1971. The family came out here in the 1890s. His wife Annie was first married to his brother Thomas and after he died, she married Albert about 1908. The family was originally from Massachusetts.

He is 30 WA and his wife Kathryn L. Swoboda is 29 NM and they have Todd 2 OR. He is a son of Wallace and Florence Putnam and was with his divorced mother here in 1930. His dad died here October 7, 1931. He works in a flourmill. New Englanders.

She is 72 OH and widowed. Anna Loretta O’Brien was the wife of Henry Clay Putnam of Seattle, Washington. They separated in the early 1900s and he went to Alaska and died there in 1916. Henry was originally from Vermont. Anna will die here in 1951.

 

ARTHUR R. (RICHARD) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 37 MN and his wife Margie R. Hayes is 27 CO. He is a coppersmith and they were here in 1935. He is a son of Franklin Pierce Putnam and Sadie Pearl Bennett and was born in Eagle Bend, Todd County Minnesota February 17, 1903. He will die in Newberg, Yamhill County December 3, 1969. Found a family sheet and only says wife’s names were private, but he was married three times and divorced in the first two. His dad Franklin was a son of Marvin Morris Putnam and Ann Gennette Wheeler from Winnebago County Illinois. Marvin was a son of John Wellington Putnam and Minerva Scott from New York and then here in Winnebago County. Marvin died there March 25, 1866. His widow Hettie married Seymour Barker in 1868 and Frank was with them in Winnebago County in 1870 and Freeborn County Minnesota in 1880. They were there in 1905, 1910 and 1920. They are divorced by 1930. Kinda ran in the family I guess. New Englanders to begin with back in Massachusetts.

 

BERTHA PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 66 WI and widowed. Bertha Wesenberg was married to Fred H. Putnam here since the early 1900s. He just died. Fred was the son of Martin H. Putnam and Harriet Burlingame from Pentwater, Michigan. He was born in Pentwater March 11, 1872 and died in Portland, Oregon January 31, 1940. Bertha is a daughter of Henry and Maria Wesenberg and was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in February 1874 and will die in Portland December 26, 1953.

He is 29 OR and his wife Helen Sutton is 23 OR. He owns a Photography Studio and both are commercial and portrait photographers. He is a son of Clyde Ambrose Putnam and Bertha Belinda Holley and was born here in Portland August 29, 1910 and will die here April 20, 1994. His wife Helen was born October 14, 1916 in Hood River County and will die in Gresham, Multnomah County October 6, 2011. Clyde’s dad’s folks were Spencer Putnam and Donna Mae Skiff from Warren County Pennsylvania. New England folks.

He is 52 PA and his wife Bertha Belinda Holley is 53 NY. Been here forever. He was born in Warren County Pennsylvania February 16,1889 and will die here in Portland Aril 20, 1952.  Bertha was born August 27, 1887 and will die here April 6, 1982 at age 94. His folks were Spencer Putnam and Donna Mae Skiff from Warren County Pennsylvania. New England folks.

 

CHARLES O. PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 73 MI and his third wife Verna Belle Kramb is 55 MI with her folks being born in Germany according to the 1930 census when they were in Spokane Washington. He is now a caretaker for an apartment house here in Portland. According to a marriage certificate, Charles is a son of Jacob Putman and Lydia Tifft and was born in Vicksburg, Kalamazoo County Michigan in January 1867. Lydia remarried Fred Stella after Jacob died. He was with them in Kalamazoo County in 1870, probably 1880. He married Bessie Van Zomem July 3, 1890. She died or something and he married Trintje Catherine Kate Hinga June 1, 1892 and they were in Kalamazoo in 1900, 1910 and 1920. She died May 9, 1922 and he married Verna Belle Kramb in 1924 and they were in Seattle, Washington in 1930 and Portland, Oregon in 1935 and 1940. Verna died in Portland June 4, 1954 and Charles died there April 27, 1961. We don’t know who Jacob was. Charlie’s 1920 census says dad was born in Massachusetts.

 

DELILAH PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 58 IA and still single. She is the daughter of Robert Putnam and Elizabeth Prunty Drutz and was born March 19, 1880 in Jasper County Iowa. Robert died in Iowa May 30, 1892 and Elizabeth and the kids were in Jasper County in 1900 and Spokane Washington in 1910. Elizabeth died there September 22, 1913 and Delilah was there single in 1920 and 1930 and 1935 and then here. Robert Putman was the son of Reding Putman and Stacy Combs from Warren County Kentucky and then Fulton County Illinois. Reding was my great great grandfather.

 

DOUGLAS E. (EUGENE) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 31 MN single and lodging. He was in Winona County there in 1935. He is a carpenter. He is a son of Wallace Charles Putnam and Grace Gage and was born in Whitewater, Winona County Minnesota in 1908. Wallace is a son of William Washington Putnam and Rose Stadler from Wabasha County Minnesota. His family went briefly (1884-86) to North Dakota where Wallace was born. They were all back in Wabasha County by 1887, and here for the 1900 census. Wallace Charles Putnam was born October 7, 1886 and will die there August 12, 1966. They are here in 1920 and 1930 and longer. Grace was born December 4, 1887 and will die in Wabasha County July 19, 1968.

 

EDWARD PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 66 MI and single. He was in Muskegon, Michigan in 1935 and all the way back to about 1905 for that matter. He is a son of Teunis and Julia Putman and was born in Bronson, Branch County in November 1873. He was there with his folks in 1880 and with his widowed mother in Oceana County in 1900. He then is in Muskegon, Michigan in the 1910 census married to Amanda Neusman who died there March 25, 1914. He is still in Muskegon in 1930 with a second wife Anna. Dutch family out of New York State.

He is 67 IA and his wife Florence S. Madill is 67 NY. He is an auto mechanic in a garage. He is a son of Fred and Louisa Putnam. His folks were in Grant County, Wisconsin in 1870. Fred Senior was a son of Barney Putnam and Margaret Burkhart from Mount Morris, Livingston County New York. By 1880, Fred was with his then widowed mother in Rapids Township, Linn County, Iowa. He and Florence were here in 1920, 1930 and 1935. Fred will die shortly in June 1940, and Florence will die here April 30, 1952.

He is 52 OR and widowed. His mother Lena Putman 73 MO and daughter Nancy Jean 20 OR are with him. He is a son of Arthur Moore Putnam and Lena Marie Kunst from Montgomery County New York. Dutch family. He came out here in the 1880s and married Lena in 1885. He died here in the early 1900s. Lena has been widowed here since 1910.

Fred was a son of Arthur Putman and Helena Marie Kunst. Arthur was a son of James Janse Putman and Catalina Van Buren from the New York Dutch family. He was born in Tribes Hill, Montgomery County New York December 2, 1845 and died here in Portland February 5, 1903. George was born here in Portland November 25, 1913 and will die right here February 14, 1975. Clara is a daughter of John Joseph Teufel and Mary Kouba and was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania August 12,1907 and will die here in Portland January 25, 1988. New York Dutch family.

He is 23 and listed with a blank for everything else and a wife with no name. Think this is a weird listing for Earl Guy Putman who was here in 1930. See that one. Age here should be 38.

He is 47 Oregon and single. He lives in the Convent of the Good Shepherd and works there as a laundryman. He was here in 1930 and said he was born in Portland December 15, 1892 and will die here in Portland October 4, 1974. He will marry Bernice and they are here in 1950.

She is 33 OR and divorced. She is living in a hotel it looks like. She is a bookkeeper in a mail order department store. Would be either Sears or Montgomery Wards. I think she is the daughter of Charles Frederick Putnam and has been with him in Grant County. The age is right and I can’t find any Putnam guy married to a Josephine in 1930. She says she was here in Portland in 1935. I think she just took back her maiden name when she divorced. Her dad has remarried and is over in Ferry County Washington in 1930 and probably now.

She is 83 MO and widowed. She lives with her son Laurence Wallace 61 OR and his wife Ella Wallace 53 OR. She was obviously married to a Wallace guy, but in about 1915 she married Edward A. Putnam in Clark County Washington and they were there in 1920 and 1930. He died and she was here in Portland by 1935. Edward was a son of Charles Frederick Putnam and Rosella Applegate. He was born in Umpqua County Oregon and was in Oregon single practically all his life, mostly in Douglas County. New England family from Massachusetts and the Kentucky, and then here.

He is 55 IA NY NE and is a director of a Presbyterian Church. His wife Edna C. Mosher is 52 SD and they have Lemuel P. Junior 21 IL. Her widowed mother Lena Mosher 68 GER is with them. He is the son of Jay Samuel Putnam and Rebecca Sutton. He was in Carroll County Iowa in 1880 and in Custer County South Dakota in 1900. They were in Chicago in 1920. They were here in 1930. He was born in Carroll County Iowa October 13, 1884 and will die here in Portland July 15, 1968. He married Edna in Fall River County South Dakota July 24, 1913. She was born in South Dakota July 29, 1887 and will die here in Portland February 28, 1981. The son Lemuel was born in Chicago, Illinois August 28, 1918 and will die in Ontario, Malheur County Idaho in May 1987.

 

LULA M. (MAE) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

She is 71 IL and has her widowed daughter Margery T. Quinlan 33 CAN, granddaughter Delphine L. Bowles 16 WY and daughter Leona 42 IL. Lula Mae Crabb was the wife of Orville Putnam. They were married in McDonough County Illinois September 19, 1894, and were there a while, then went to Saskatchewan Canada in 1905 and there in the 1906 census. Then they went to Portland, Oregon where Orville will die in 1936. He was a son of Uzziel Franklin Putnam and Martha Jane Cannon from Cass County Michigan and New England before that. Now in 1940, Orville is still in Toole County Montana and says he is divorced.

 

ORLIN U. (ULYSSES) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 67 KS MI IL and his wife Anna Bergstrom is 56 IA SWED IL. She is his second wife and they were here in 1930, in Lake County Oregon in 1920 and in Eddy County New Mexico in 1910. He was first married to Minnie Herring February 6, 1895 back in McDonough County Illinois. He is a son of Uzziel Franklin Putnam and Martha Jane Cochran, and was there in McDonough County Illinois with the family in 1900. He was born in Mission, Kansas January 30, 1872 and with his folks in Reno County Kansas in 1880. He will die here in Multnomah County February 4, 1960. His dad was from Cass County Michigan and his dad Ira Putnam was from Vermont.

 

RAY PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 50 MI CAN CAN and works in a cleaning establishment. His wife Vera Gladys Donaghy is 48 CAN and they have Dorethea 24 CAN and William Ernest. 23 CAN. They were here in 1930. He is a son of Stephen Brown Putnam and Sarah Elizabeth Smith (both from Canada) as shown in 1900 in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County Michigan. Their son William Raymond was born February 15, 1890 so the age is perfect. Some of the family went back to Canada like he obviously did, but the last available census in Canada is 1911 so no help. Stephen was a son of John W. Putnam and Elizabeth Brown from Kent, Ontario. He was first married to Isabelle Arbuckle in 1881, and she died in 1885. He married Sarah back in Chatham, Kent, Ontario on September 11, 1889. He will die in Portland, Oregon January 12, 1954. Line goes back to Asaph Putnam from Windham, Vermont.

 

ROBERT W. (WHITING) PUTNAM  Portland, Multnomah County

He is 39 MI, his wife Beatrice E. Sarles is 41 CO and they have Richard 8 WA. They also have Helen Johnson 19 MT from Beatrice’s previous marriage To James C. Johnson. He does research for the Forest Service. He is a son of Richard Rider and Helen Putnam and was born in Washtenaw County Michigan November 11, 1900 and was with his folks in Detroit in 1910 and 1920. He was single and boarding in Lakeview, Lake County Oregon in 1930. Beatrice was born July 29, 1898 and will die here in Portland April 15, 1988. They were married September 8, 1930 in Lake, Oregon, and in Seattle, Washington in 1935. Family from Massachusetts before going to Michigan. Robert will die June 14, 1955 in Portland.

He is 52 SD, his wife Naomi Irene Durst 51 SD and they have Kye Bradham 16 OR and Phyllis Irene 15 OR. He is a civil engineer with the Southern Pacific Railroad as he was in 1930. He is Roy William Putnam a son of Jay Samuel Putnam and Rebecca Charlotte Sutton from New York. He was born in South Dakota March 23, 1888. The family was in Custer County South Dakota in 1900. In Fall River County South Dakota in 1910 in 1910 and in Portland, Oregon in 1920. They were in Oakridge, Lane County Oregon in 1930 and 1935 and now here. Naomi was born in South Dakota January 14, 1889 and will die in Santa Clara County California December 3, 1945. Her folks were John Durst and Naomi Bradham, that’s where Kye got his middle name. Roy will die in Santa Clara County March 25, 1961.

He is 33 WA and his wife Juanita is 27 MO. He is a son of Wallace R. Putnam and Annie Allen and was born in Spokane, Washington. His dad was a son of Levi and Isa Putnam from Poyseppi, Waushara County Wisconsin (there in 1860 and 1870). Family was here in Portland in 1920 and then the folks were divorced and living separately here in Portland in 1930.  This Wallace was with his mom here in 1930. His dad was born April 4, 1858 in Berlin, Wisconsin and died here October 7, 1931. New England family.

He is 50 WI his wife Mattie Jane is 50 MN and they have his dad George Lewis Putman 91 NY with them. He is a plumber as he has been and Mattie is a school teacher. He is a son of George Lewis Putman and Margaret Jane Brooks from Sparta, Monroe County Wisconsin. He was born there November 8, 1889. He was married to Elsie May Fisher in Benton County in 1910 and was widowed there in 1920. He was married to Mattie here in 1930. Dutch family from Jefferson County New York.

She is 51 PA and divorced. She is in the Eastern Oregon State Hospital for the Insane. She was here in 1935 too. Roseline Spears married Harold Douglas Putnam in 1909 and was with him in North Bend, Coos County Oregon in 1910 and 1920. They were divorced before 1930. He was widowed there in 1930 and she was in a separate place in North Bend with the kids in 1930. Harold married Dorothy Matilda Hagen there June 21, 1936.

 

MELVIN PUTNAM  La Grande, Union County

He is 36 SD and his wife Alice 35 OK. Melvin Henry is a son of Solon H. Putnam and Julia Halverson and was born July 26, 1903 in Hand County South Dakota and was with his folks in Hughes County South Dakota in 1910 and 1920. I ‘tfind him in 1930 but in 1935 he says he and Alice were in Colfax, Whitman County Washington. He will die in Oregon April 22, 1972 and Alice is still alive at that time. Solon was ia son of Lovell Kimball Putnam and Almira Smith from Peru, Clinton County New York. Lovell was a son of Archelaus Putnam and Deborah Kimball from there and Vermont before that.

 

LILLIAN PUTNAM  Hillsboro, Washington County

She is 74 OH and widowed. Lillian Mae Miller has been married to Melvin Putman who died here May 4, 1937. Melvin was a minister in the Christian Church. He was a son of Lorenzo Putman and Mary Graybiel from Lincoln County Ontario. He and Lillian were in Sedalia, Missouri in 1900 and in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1910, in Everett, Washington in 1920, and then here in 1930. His line goes back Melvin, Lorenzo, Albert and David Putman. David was born in New York in 1783 and moved to Canada in the early 1800s. Lillian was born May 10, 1865 in Chardon, Ohio and will die in Centralia, Washington June 22, 1952 at the home of her son Glen Harold Putman. This is a Dutch line from New York.

 

RALPH L. (LLOYD) PUTNAM  Hillsboro, Washington County

He is 51 CA CA CA and is a Minister for a church. His wife Edith is 48 OR and they have Theona 23 OR and Winona 21 OR. He is a son of William H. Putnam and Maude Messinger from Calavaras County California. He was there in 1900 and 1910 and in Marion County Oregon in 1920 as a church minister. This is a New England line out of Vermont. Ralph was born in Lockford, California September 30, 1888 and will die here in Hillsboro February 4, 1975. He married Edith Maude Van Behren in Marion County June 18, 1913. She was born in Aumsville, Marion County January 12, 1892 and will die in Portland in June 1969.

He is 42 WA and his wife Lorene Biersdorf 31 OR. They have Maurine 9 OR and her twin Margaret 9 OR, William 3 OR and George 2 OR. He is a son of William Throckmorton Putnam and Harriet Griswold. They have been in Mason County Washington since the 1890s. He was born there in October 1897. His folks live next door or maybe in the same house. They both own a potato farm. New England line.

He is a son of Fernando Cortez Putnam originally from Leominster, Massachusetts and then Vermont. His dad was a minister, married Lydia Throckmorton in Vermont and then Ada Husband (his mother) in New Jersey, and was the minister at the Episcopal Church in Jersey City, New Jersey. They have been in Mason County Washington since the 1890s through the 1920 and here in 1935 and 1940. New England line of course.

Jay died in Salem in 1920 and Rebecca in 1925. Herb was born in Carroll County Iowa December 21, 1880. The family then moved to Custer, South Dakota and then here to Salem, Oregon. He and Rosalie were in Portland in 1920 and 1930. He is a doctor in his own practice. He will die here in Portland February 11, 1959. Rosalie was born in Minnesota October 19, 1886 and will die in Washington County Oregon June 10, 1963. New England Family.

EUNICE BELLE PUTNAM  East Amity, Yamhill County

She is 80 OR and widowed. Eunice Belle Harris had been married to Winfrey Newton Putnam forever in Independence, Polk County Oregon. Winfrey was a son of Newton Putman and Nancy Stockton from Polk County Missouri. He was born in Dade County Missouri August 14, 1859 and died in Independence, Polk County February 13, 1933. Eunice was born in Polk County April 21, 1859 and will die in Wasco County Oregon September 17, 1950 at age 91. Southern Putman family South Carolina to Tennessee to Henry County Missouri in the late 1830s.

 

JOHN E. PUTMAN  West Chehalem, Yamhill County

He is 58 OR and his wife Annie 60 IRE. He is a son of John Harrison Putman and Hannah Louise Woodfin from Yamhill County Oregon. He was in Walla Walla, Washington in 1900, Wasco County Oregon in 1910 and in Vancouver, Washington in 1920. They were here but not listed in 1930 and were in 1935 as well. Southern Putman family out of Illinois to here in 1846.

 

JAMES H. (HARRISON) PUTMAN  Hopewell, Yamhill County

He is 63 OR and his wife Julia Ann McKinley 54 OR. He is a son of John Harrison Putman and Hannah Louisa Woodfin from Linn County. His dad had remarried and was in Washington in 1900, and then back here in Yamhill County after that. James and Julia were in Yamhill County in 1920 and here ever since. He was born September 2, 1877. By 1920, he is in Yamhill County married to Julia Ann McKinley. She was a daughter of Elisha McKinley and Adeline Belley Gay. She was born in Yamhill County June 16, 1885 and will die here August 22, 1850. They were married February 25, 1904 in Yamhill County. James will die here February 7, 1951. He has a lumber mill and his sons work there with him. Southern Putmans out of Illinois to here in 1847.

 

OSWALD PUTMAN  Hopewell, Yamhill County

He is 29 OR, his wife Esther Noack 27 WI and they have Viola 3 OR. He is a son of the above James Harrison Putman.  He was born October 3, 1910 and died in Harney County Oregon May 20, 1981. He married Esther Noack November 6, 1933. She was born January 22, 1913 in Polk County Wisconsin and died in Harney County March 21, 2004.

 

RODNEY J. (JAMES) PUTMAN  Hopewell, Yamhill County

He is 34 OR, his wife Estella Weiss 26 OR and they have Howard D. 8 OR, Linda L. 7 OR, and Julia A. 6 OR. He is a son of the above James Putman. He was born March 10, 1905 and died January 17, 1984 all in McMinnville, Yamhill County. He married Stella Weiss about 1921. He will be in Douglas County with a new wife in 1950.

 

LOUIS L. (LAMONT) PUTNAM  Newberg, Yamhill County

He is now 65 PA and still a building contractor. His wife Lillian Phoebe Andrews is 59 OR and their son Gale Albert 24 OR is still at home with them. He is a son of Francis Emery Putnam and Theodosia Victoria Graves. He married Mabel Tewksbury in PA in 1898, and was divorced in 1904. He then married Lillian Phoebe Andrews in Portland on July 5, 1905. They have been there up until 1930. He is also listed in Klamath Falls, Klamath County Oregon working on a dam or some project. New Englanders from MA>NH>VT>NY>

 

OTIS L. (LAUREN) PUTMAN  West Carlton, Yamhill County

He is 27 OR and his wife Norma McIlvaine is 21 OR. He is a son of James Harrison Putman and Julia Ann McKinley from Yamhill County. His folks and his brothers are nearby in Hopewell. Otis was born August 13, 1912 and died in Carlton, Yamhill County November 5, 1997. He married Norma Marie McIlvaine about 1939. She died in 1976 and he then married Julia in Nevada June 26, 1976. Think he also works for his dad’s lumber mill. Southern Putman family.
