I got this from a notebook Santa left at the local bar one night by mistake.

JAMES C. (CLEMMIE) PUTMAN  Davidson County

This is going to be an interesting affair. Anyway, he is 36 TN (no it is AL), his wife Flossie Phelps is 35 TN and they have Juanita 12 TN and Craig 3 TN. The gap here is because he was in the Army playing around in WWII. Also here is Flossie’s mother Lillie Phelps 67 TN and her brother Erskin Phelps 45 TN. I searched 1930 and 1940 for a James C. Putman to no luck. I tried searching for Flossie back in 1940 as they had a daughter 2 then. BINGO. I found her but she was married to a Clemmie guy born in Tennessee about 1914, and no luck. Since I knew Flossie’s last name, I searched on Ancestry found her and got a WWII draft card for James Clemmie Putman born in Huntsville, Alabama April 3, 1914. Wow. I looked in my Alabama 1930 census, and sure enough he was in Athens, Limestone County Alabama with his widowed mother Mary Lee Hill who had been married to William George Putman from Athens who was killed in an accidental explosion while working on highway construction in 1929. And  he was listed as Clemmie 16 AL in the 1930 like he was in 1940 and born right there and not in Tennessee.
