W. E. (WILLIAM ERNEST) PUTNAM  Precinct 3, Angelina County

He is 40 MS ME KY and is a farmer. His wife Minnie Stewart is 36 LA. They now have Ansil Dow 16 TX, Clarence 14 TX, Gordon E. 11 TX, Maria 8 TX, twins Fay and Ray 6 TX and Donald 4 TX. He is a son of Ansil Smith Putnam and Rose Ellen Bishop from here. He was born in Vicksburg Mississippi, and then was here with his folks in 1900, and married here in 1920. His dad was from Maine. Okay, found a lot of info on this family most of whom are buried in Aldridge Cemetery in Angelina County from the web site FindAGrave.com. William was born in 1889 and died in 1958. Minnie was born in 1893 and died in 1947. The son Ansel was born June 9, 1913 and died October 26, 1967. His wife Modell Seymore was born December 24, 1919 and died July 19, 1994. The son Ernest Ray was born January 19, 1924 and died November 4, 1989. The son Gordon was born March 17, 1919 and will die in Lufkin, Texas June 22, 1995. There is another son William T. born April 9, 1933 who was married to Aline A. on August 8, 1959. She was born July 24, 1930. William died in Lufkin December 6, 1989. The son James Donald was born April 11, 1926 and will die here August 27, 1993. Clarence was born January 19, 1916 and died in Lufkin in June of 1983.

 

JAMES J. PUTMAN  Precinct 2 Lytle, Atascosa County

He is 30 TX ME KY single and working on a pipeline. He is a son of Ansil Putnam from Maine. He has been in Angelina County with the family up till now. He was born March 26, 1900 and will die March 19, 1972. He is buried in Lufkin.

 

AMBER PUTNAM  Smithville, Bastrop County

She is Amber Mathis or Mathews 46 TX and widowed. She has a son Tom H. 13 TX MS TX. In 1910 she was married to Percy Lee Putnam in Hill County. They weren’t listed in 1920 and Percy died in 1923 in Temple Texas. The son Tom Henry is married in Houston in 1940. Percy was born March 12, 1880 in Mississippi and died in Temple, Texas May 29, 1923. Amber was here in 1930. She won’t die till November 1962 in Austin, Texas living with her then married daughter Percy Lee. Yep name right and she is a girl this time around. Now, Rand Putnam found Percy Lee Putnam's death certificate. He was born in Mississippi March 12, 1883 and died May 29, 1923 in Temple, Bell County Texas. It has his father as H. S. Sales (born in LA) and Lue Gilford (born in LA). I have to assume that he was adopted by some Putnams. Can’t find earlier so no clues yet.

 

ALICE PUTMAN  San Antonio, Bexar County

She is 75 TX GA IA single and a servant for a private family. She is a daughter of William Putman and Adeline Gipson from Gonzales County. She was a nurse here in 1920. She was born April 6, 1854 and will die here October 27, 1940. She never married. Southern Putmans.

 

EMERSON B. PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 51 TX TX TX boarding and divorced. He is a salesman for a Packing House. He is a son of John M. Putman and Fanny Allen from Caldwell County where he was born. He was in Hill County in 1900 when he was with his folks. Then in 1910 he was married to Irene in Harris County and to an Ida in Walker County in 1920. Southern Putman family from Hall County Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

I. J. PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 27 WI US US and an inmate at the Southwestern Insane Asylum. Interesting, he and all the others are listed under occupation as ‘insane.’ Gotta be a tough job. Best guess is that he is Israel Putnam a son of Nelson J. Putnam. He was at home in Rock County Wisconsin in 1910 and 1920 and not now.

 

JOHN E. PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 67 GA ENG ENG and a city policeman. His wife Helen Beissner is 57 TX and they have their son Dana Franklin 25 TX and his wife Evelyn Winkleman 20 TX. They have been here since the 1890s. He is a son of Dana Boardman Putnam and Huldah Manley. His dad is from Maine, but was in Troup County Georgia in 1860 and that’s where John was born. The son Dana Franklin was born March 6, 1905 and will die in San Antonio in February 1982.

 

JOHN E. (EDWARD) PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 35 TX US TX and a printer at a printing company. His wife of 6 years Alice Emma Evans is 27 MS and they have Alice J. 2 TX and John E. 1/12. He is a son of John E. and Helen Putnam from here in San Antonio.

 

MARION PUTMAN  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is Marion Gardner Putman 49 IL IL IL and is a soldier in the U. S. Army. His wife Hallie Gifford or Gafford is 31 TX MS TX. They have been married 5 years. Her divorced sister Helen Dion 35 TX MS TX is with them. He was single and a Captain stationed at Love Air Force Base in Dallas in 1920. He must be at a higher rank by now. He is a son of Henry Gardiner Putman and Eliza D. Rice and was born in Whiteside County Illinois January 27, 1880. This is a Dutch family originally from New York. He was born in Whiteside County but grew up in Dallas County Texas. He was there with his folks in 1900. In 1905 he married Lela Schofield from Dallas in 1904 or 1905, and they were in Portland, Maine in 1910. About 1915 he just took off and returned to Dallas and joined the Army Air Force. He was there in 1920 as a Captain stationed at Love Field. In about 1925 he married Hallie Gifford or Gafford. They will go to Los Angeles, California and stay there the rest of their lives. He will die in Glendale December 12, 1964. Hallie was born in Texas December 28, 1898 and will die in Los Angeles in February 1978.

 

POMP W. (POMPEI WELLINGTON) PUTMAN  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 55 AR GA GA and his wife Kate Christian is 48 TX DEN TX. Twins Hal and Harold 21 TX are still at home. He is a locomotive engineer. They are here in 1940 too. Pomp is a son of David Alexander Putman and Fanny Childers of Dorsey County Arkansas and a grandson of Jesse Mercer Putman of Hall County Georgia. Southern Putmans.

 

RAYMOND PUTMAN  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 24 OK TX TX and single. He is a welder at an iron works. His age fits the son of George and Ida Putnam from Pittsburg County Oklahoma except that family was from Missouri. Probably him though, didn’t know where his folks were really from.

                                                                                                                                                                                   

THOMAS PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 63 MS NC AL and single. He is a meat cutter in a butcher shop. Best guess is that he is a son of Lorenzo Dow Putman from Noxubee County Mississippi. He came from North Carolina. The age is off by 10 years, should read 53 MS, but could well be a clerical thing. There is a death certificate here in San Antonio for Thomas. States he was born November 25, 1877, never was married, and died here August 23, 1950. Just don’t know though.

 

IRA J. (JULIAN) PUTNAM  Baird, Callahan County

He is 17 TX TX AL and his sister Pauline is 15 TX. They are with their mother Ethel 34 AL and her new husband Adolphus Meadows. Ethel was married to Leander Putman in Camp County in 1920. He was a son of John and Sarah Putman from Franklin County Texas in 1900. His folks were from Tennessee and then in Mississippi. Southern Putmans.

 

RANCE M. PUTMAN  Precinct 5, Callahan County

He is incorrectly indexed. His name is clearly Pittman.

 

CAHLIE (CARL E.) PUTMAN  Precinct 1, Cass County

He is listed as 23 TX TX TX and lives alone. He is a farmer. He looks to be Carl E. Putman, a son of Samuel Putman and Martha Delaney Stevens. He was at home in McLennan County Texas in 1920 and isn’t there now. Age is right, he just pronounced his name wrong. Them There Texans drawl and make it sound like Cahl Eee.

 

ANDREW PUTMAN  Precinct 3, Cass County

He is Andrew Madison, a son of John and Cerina from Marion County Alabama. He is now 55 TX TX TX. His wife Viola Boyd is 51 TX and they still have Cecil 20 TX and Kenneth 18 TX at home. They were here in 1910 and in Morris County in 1920. The son Cecil Madison will marry Iva Lue Phillips. IRVIN PUTMAN  Precinct 7, Chambers County

He is a Negro 48 MS and a widowed.

 

ARTHUR G. (GRAHAM) PUTMAN  Copeville, Collin County

He is 40 TX MS MS and has been married 10 years to Stella 42 TX. She has two Hawkins daughters from her first marriage. Arthur was born here a son of James B. Putman and Corrie Phillips. He was born March 6, 1891 and will die August 18, 1962. He was still living at home in 1920. He married a widow Stella Hawkins in 1920. Stella was born September 10, 1887 and died in Ennis, Texas in June 1969. He is a grandson of William Putman and Alice Crow from Mississippi. Southern Putmans.

 

THOMAS F. (FRANKLIN) PUTNAM  Copeville, Collin County

He is 56 MS AL AL and his wife Stella Jones is 51 TN. They still have Richard 18 TX at home. He is a son of William Putman and Alice Crow. Southern Putmans. His folks were from Alabama and he was born in Mississippi January 9, 1872. They were briefly in Longview Texas. He will be here in Copeville till he dies March 14, 1948. Stella will be here till 1956.

 

JAMES F. (FLETCHER) PUTMAN  Plano, Collin County

He is 48 AL US AL and a farmer. His wife Jessie is 46 TX. Then there are 8 kids named Taylor from her earlier marriage and then they have Oma 10 TX and Claud 6 TX, which I guess are theirs. He is a son of John Forney Putman and Nancy Cox from Wood County. He was married to Nelly Kitchens there in 1910 and I don’t find him yet in 1920. James was born July 9, 1882 and died July 15, 1970 in Kaufman County. Nelly was born March 27, 1883 and died in Kaufman County January 27, 1921. Jessie was born in 1884 and died here in 1947. His folks were from Benton County Alabama.

 

FRANCES M. PUTMAN  Gainesville, Cooke County

She is 70 AL and widowed. She lives with her married daughter Sarah Frances Magers 33 TX and husband Sidney Magers 43 TN. Interesting. She is Frances Melinda Majors the widow of James M. Putman from here. They were all here in 1910 and ‘overlooked’ in 1920. Sarah Francis is indeed her daughter but Sidney must be kinfolk too. Frances was born September 9, 1859 and will die here July 11, 1942. Southern Putmans.

 

HOWARD PUTMAN  Gainesville, Cooke County

He is indexed as Harold, but is Simeon Howard Putman son of James Mercer Putman and Frances Melissa Majors from here. He is 43 TX US MO and a retail grocer. His wife Eula is 28 TX and they have a son Billie 2 6/12 TX. Howard was born October 25, 1886 and died January 15, 1948. Eula was born in 1901 and died in 1996. They will be buried in Fairview Cemetery here in Gainesville.

 

GRACE PUTMAN  Precinct 2, Cooke County

She is 24 TX TX TX and listed as a niece with Maud Thompson 51 OK and her mother Sallie Spears 76 TX. Grace is a daughter of Thomas and Rosetta Putman from here in Cooke County. She was listed with the family in 1910 and wasn’t listed in 1920. Her mother was widowed here in 1920, and was probably a Spears too. And in 1920 her sister Leata was living here with the Thompsons.

 

SIM F. PUTMAN  Precinct 2, Cooke County

He is now 77 AL TN AL and has his wife Lucy F. 62 TX back. He was widowed here in 1900, with her in 1910 and alone in 1920. He is a son of Howard Mercer Putman and Sally Burch from Calhoun County Alabama. Southern Putman family.

 

WILL J. (JACKSON) PUTMAN  Precinct 7, Cooke County

He is 52 TX US and a farmer. His wife Lou E. is 48 MO and they now have Ruby 25, Garnett 18, Lula M. 15, Marie 12, Jesse a son 10 and Jack 4 all born TX. He was in Tarrant County in 1900, Delta County in 1910, and Tutus County in 1920. In 1880, he was with his mother M. E. Putman in Wood County Texas. She was a widow and his dad was born in North Carolina, but I only know his dad’s name was Thomas Putman. His wife Lou or Lula is widowed in Grayson County in 1940 with Jesse and Jack.

 

W. A. (WILLIAM ALLEN) PUTMAN  Oglesby, Coryell County

He is 54 TN TN TN and his wife Electra Wollard is 52 TX. They have Doris 15 TX at home. He is a son of Francis Manin Putman from McNairy County Tennessee. He was here in 1900 and not found in the 1910 census. He was assistant superintendent of the Texas Reform School here in 1920. He bought a general store here in 1928 and is running it now. He will be here until he dies of a heart attack May 15, 1938. His wife ‘Leck’ will hang on until 1965. AUGUSTUS R. PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 64 IL NY IL and he is a real estate agent. He has a new wife Margaret 62 NY and daughter Lucille 30 TX IL TX. He was married here to a Kate in 1910 and by himself in 1920.  Margaret was born in 1867 and will die here in 1936. Never saw Lucille before though, so she must be Margaret’s. She was born June 29, 1896 and will die in October 1986. He is a son of Henry Gardner Putman and Esther Rice from Whiteside County Illinois (1880) and here in 1900. He was born in 1865 and will die here in 1943. Dutch family from Montgomery County New York.

 

BERNICE E. PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas, County

She is 35 LA and widowed. She has a daughter Vernie H. 15 LA NC LA with her. Also here is her daughter Lucille Mary 18 LA and husband Thomas Moody 24 TX. Bernice Orgeron was married to John Birge Putman in Natchitoches Parish Louisiana in 1920. He died in Louisiana in 1927. John was a son of Albert Putman and Eliza McIntyre from Cleveland County North Carolina. Southern Putmans.

 

BRUCE PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 48 KY KY KY and is a commercial printer. His wife Marie (Lamar I think) is 48 TX TX TN. He is a son of Rufus Putnam from Louisville, Kentucky and a grandson of George Washington Putnam from Ohio. New England stock originally. He and Marie were just married here in 1920. He will die here July 1, 1933.

 

CECIL DeW. (DeWITT) PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 30 TX IL IL and married 9 years. His wife Willie Mae Bullen is 30 TX and they have John D. 8 TX and a son Billie C. 3 TX. He is a son of John and Lucille Putman from here. He was at home here in 1910 and the family was ‘missing’ in 1920, but is here in the County now. His brother Rex is married here in town too. Dutch family from Whiteside County Illinois and Montgomery County New York before that.

 

FRANK O. (ORLEAN) PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 58 IA MI WI and is an art teacher at a college. His wife Lalla S. is 47 KY and they have Gordon W. 22 AR and Lalla M. 15 TX still at home. He is a son of Charles A. Putnam and Julia Gordon from La Grange, Iowa and Cass County Michigan before that. Charles was a son of Orlean Putnam and Amelia Vanderhoof from Cass County Michigan. They were in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1910 and in Fort Worth, Texas in 1920. Frank Orleans Putnam was born September 21, 1871 and will die in Dallas October 12, 1954. New England Family.

 

FRED B. PUTMAN  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 39 TX TX TX and a superintendent at a steel company. His wife Ruby Warnke is 34 TX and they have Margie L. 11 TX and Fred B. Jr. 8 TX. He is a son of Silas B. Putman from Llano County. His folks got divorced and he was with his mother in Oklahoma in 1910 and was married in Harris County in 1920. Ruby was born May 10, 1895 and will die May 24, 1988. Southern Putmans out of Alabama.

 

FREDERICK B. (BRYAN) PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 32 TX TX TX and a salesman for a petroleum company. His wife Marie is 31 MS and they have Frederick B. Jr. 7 LA. He is the son of Frederick Putman and Lillian Hardisty. He was with the family in 1900 in Johnson County Texas and listed as Bryan age 2 then. He was born September 23, 1897 and died August 20, 1961 in Tarrant County.

 

GUSTAVA PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

She is 35 TX TX TX single and boarding. She is a public school teacher here. She is a daughter of Joseph Barnet Putman and Julia McGinnis, and has been in Caldwell County up till now. She’ll be here the rest of her life, and will soon have her sister Lela Mae living with her. Neither one ever married. Gustava was born November 16, 1895 and will die here in Dallas April 15, 1988. Her sister Lela Mae was born April 10, 1885. She was a Methodist missionary in Brazil for many years. She later moved in with her sister Gustava and died in Dallas in May 1975. Southern Putman family from Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

HENRY J. PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

He is now 61 IL NY IL and is a merchant with a hardware store. He also owns his own house worth $5000 which is pretty good back then. Others in the area were renting at $10-30 a month. Anyway his wife Ora Vener is 43 TX MO TX, and they have Henry J. Junior 16 TX, Ora M. 13 TX, Evelyn L. 10 TX, and Paul T. 8 TX. He is a son of Henry Gardner Putnam and Esther Rice and was born in Whiteside County Illinois in 1868. He was home in Dallas County in 1900, Henderson County in 1910 and back here in Dallas in 1920 and now.

 

HERBERT E. PUTMAN  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 42 TX TX TX, and builds houses. His wife Florence Belle Gideon is 40 MO and they have Jack G. 19 TX. He is a son of Joe Worth Putman from Fort Worth, Tarrant County. He married Florence Belle Gideon and they were living with her folks in Fort Worth in 1910. They were here in 1920 as was her widowed mother. Herbert was born August 7, 1887 and will die in Sulphur Springs, Texas in November 1973. Florence was born November 10, 1886 and died in Sulphur Springs a month earlier in October 1973.

 

JAMES PUTMAN  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 26 TX TX TX single and boarding. He works in a laundry. He is James Weaver Putman the son of Marcus Green Putman and Annie Weaver from Hill County except the parent’s birthplaces are wrong. No one else fits though, so gotta be him. He’s single here living with his widowed mother in 1940 too.

 

JAMES L. (LESLIE) PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 47 MS MS AL and is a life insurance salesman. Emma Porter his third wife is 38 TX and they have daughters Frances (Cloteel) 18 MS and Ella F. 3 TX. He was married to Annie Harvey wife one in Scott County Mississippi in 1910. Can’t find him in 1920, but he was with Lillian Rutherford who he married in 1914. He married Emma here March 3, 1924. He’ll be here until he dies December 10, 1937. He is a son of Jeremiah Putman and Sarah Virginia Steed who where here in Dallas in 1920. They have gone back and both his folks will die there in Harperville, Mississippi in 1935. Southern Putmans.

 

LEE L. (LARKEN) PUTMAN  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 53 TX NC TX and is a custodian at a public school. His wife Bertha Mae is 39 KY and a matron at the school. They have Gilbert R. 20 TX and Andrew J. 18 TX. He first is in Tyler County in 1900, and just married to Ada Malone. Then he was here with Bertha in 1910. I can't find him in 1920, but he will be here till he dies June 20, 1951. He is a son of John Putman and Sarah McCausland as shown in Shackleford County in 1880 and listed as Leroy. Bertha was born January 11, 1891 and will die here in Dallas in April 1968. The son Gilbert Russ will soon marry Irene Murray and be here in 1940.

 

OSCAR J. (JACKSON) PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 51 MS MS MS and rents a farm. His wife Tempe Cornelia Savell is 50 MS and they have Oscar Savell 17 MS, Virgil S. 9 MS and Roy B. 6 MS. The folks are here now forever. Tempe will die here May 13, 1951 and Oscar March 24, 1971. He is a son of Albert Gallatin Putman and Carrie McKnight from Scott County Mississippi. Oscar was born January 18, 1879 and will die here in Dallas March 24, 1971. They were in Leake County there in 1920 and then headed west. Southern Putmans of course. Here is info on their sons. Oscar Savell Putman was born October 21, 1912. He married Eva Dorothy Rippy on October 23, 1932 in Richardson, Texas. He died January 11, 1943. Virgil Stamps Putman was born December 25, 1920. He married Mildred Edith Knight on September 6, 1956 in Dallas, Texas. He died October 19, 2003. They had one child Debbie Ann Putnam who gave me tons of info on the family. Roy Bryan Putman was born October 18, 1923. He was married three times. To Helen Pope on December 25, 1944,and they were divorced. Then to a woman named Gordyne on January 3, 1978 and then after she died in 1986, to Tommie Duke. He died in an auto accident April 4, 1990.

 

REX PUTMAN  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 37 TX IL IL and his wife Lillian Boyd 37 TX. They have Regina Lee 19 TX. He is Rex Augustus Putman a son of John Israel Putman and his first wife Lucille Jaff from Kaufman County. The whole family was here in Dallas in 1910. Rex was born November 23, 1893. Rex was just married here in 1920. Lillian was born March 5, 1893 and will die in April 1981. He will die in Seagoville, Dallas County in June 1970. Dutch family originally from New York.

 

ROBERT B. (BYRON) PUTMAN  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 23 AR AR AR and a clerk in a drug store. His wife Mary Elizabeth Travis is 24 TX and they have Robert T. 1 TX. He is the son of Frank Orleans Putnam and Lalla Shepherd Greer as shown in Little Rock Arkansas in 1910 and Fort Worth, Texas in 1920.

 

FRANK PUTMAN  Seagoville, Dallas County

He is 31 MS, his wife Lotus Mae Wolf is 31 TX and they have Leslie 12 TX, Charlie 9 TX and Frank 7 TX. She is a cook in a chili factory and he is a chili salesman. He is the son of Joseph Putman and Ida Tucker from Choctaw County Mississippi. They were here in 1920 and will be in 1940. Southern Putman family.

 

JOHN I. PUTNAM  Seagoville, Dallas County

He is 58 IL NY IL and his wife Lucille O. is 42 TX. He is a carpenter with his own shop. He is a son of Henry Gardner Putman and Esther Rice from Whiteside County Illinois. The family was here in 1900 and his brother Augustus is here in Dallas now. They were here in 1910 and overlooked but here in 1920. Lucille was born September 7, 1885 and will die here in November 1978. Dutch family originally from New York.

 

ELBERT PUTMAN  Precinct 2, Dallas County

He is 41 MS MS LA and a tenant farmer. His wife Sallie (Sarah Emeline Harper) is 38 MS, and they have Aubry 16 MS, Alvis 10 MS and Mary 7 MS. Elbert Phillips is a son of Albert Gallatin Putman and Charlotte McKnight from Scott County Mississippi. He was there through 1910 and then they were in Laurel, Jones County Mississippi in 1920. They will be back there shortly and remain there till they die. He in 1967, and she in 1983. His brother Newt is here now too. Southern Putman family from South Carolina before going to Mississippi.

 

GRAHAM PUTNAM  Precinct 2, Dallas County

He is 34 MS MS MS and rents a far, His wife Ruby Miller Shepard is 31 MS and they have Ada Mae 9 TX. His folks Jerry 70 MS and Sallie 69 MS are still with him as they were in 1920. Thomas Graham Putman is a son of Jeremiah H. Putman and Sarah Virginia Steed from Scott County Mississippi. He will have the parents return to Harpersville, Scott County Mississippi where they both will die in 1935. Thomas will be here in 1940 and then die here himself September 20, 1941. Southern family out of South Carolina.

 

JERRY PUTNAM  Precinct 2, Dallas County

Jeremiah 3rd is now 33 MS MS MS and his wife Dena May Chapman is 31 MS MS MS. They have Leonard 5 TX. Her brother Robert Chapman 13 MS is living with them. Jerry has a grocery store here in Farmers Branch. He is a son of Jerry Junior and Sally Steed from Scott County Mississippi. His folks are nearby with his brother Graham. Jerry was born August 7, 1896 and died July 5, 1940. He married Dena S. Chapman in 1923. Dena was born in 1885 and died in 1973. They had the one child Leonard Hugh Putman born June 9, 1924 and died December 1, 1943 in WWII.

 

NEWT L. (NEWTON LEMON) PUTMAN  Precinct 2 Carrolton, Dallas County

He is 47 MS MS LA and a tenant farmer. His wife Florence Belle Blackman is 38 MS and they have Eastland L. (Laverne) 18 MS, Odell E. a son 16 TX, Theo M. 12 TX, Ollie M. a daughter 10 TX, Evelyn B. 9 TX, Mayme A. 6 TX, Newton O. (Oliver) 5 TX, Frances S. 3 TX and Jackie L. 6/12 TX. She married Clarence Monroe Thomas and died July 15, 1951. Evelyn Belle Putman born October 3, 1921. She married Joseph Littleton Decker on October 5, 1940. Mamie Alice Putman was the last child born in Rio Vista, Johnson County. She was born August 23, 1923. She married Parks Norris. Newton Oliver Putman born June 13, 1925 in Farmers Branch, Dallas County. His wife was named Pauline. He died December 25, 1998 and is buried in Lonesome Dove Cemetery, Southlake, Tarrant County Texas. Frances Etoyell Putman born April 26, 1927. She first married Thomas Good and later married Murray Daniels. Jackie Louise Putman born October 16, 1929. She married Gene Nicholson. Margaret Helen Putman born February 3, 1932 in Vickory, Texas. He is 36 TX GA TN and a farmer. His wife Ruby L. Riddle is 33 TX and they now have Bryce 9 TX and Mahlon H. Jr. 3 TX. They live next door to his uncle Walter E. Bartlett. He is a son of Thomas Columbus Putman and Carrie Johnson Bartlett from Taylor County. He was there up until now. He was born November 30, 1893 and will die here in Texas in January 1965. The son Bryce was born March 16, 1920 and will die in Skellytown, Texas in September 1986. Southern family from Georgia and South Carolina before that.

He is 32 TX GA TN and owns a gasoline filling station. His wife Lucille Knox is 27 LA and they have Carl G. 6 TX and Carrie E. 4 TX. He is a son of Thomas Columbus Putman and Carrie Johnson Bartlett from Taylor County. He was there up until now. Southern family from Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

ELLIE H. (ELIAS HARRISON) PUTMAN  Cuero, DeWitt County

He is 62 KY TN KY and is a physician of general practice. His wife Eula May Gaines is 52 TN and they have Harry 22 AR, Madeline 20 TX and Virginia 15 TX. He is a son of William Riley Putman of Christian County Kentucky. He has been here since the very early 1900s. Ellie will die here August 24, 1939. The son Harry will marry Evelyn Leherman. Harry was born in 1907 and will die here in 1959. Evelyn was born in1912 and will die here in Cuero in 1998. Southern line from Kentucky and South Carolina before that.

 

JAMES L. (LARIMORE) PUTMAN  Dickens Township, Dickens County

He is 26 TX TX TX and is a blacksmith in his dad’s shop. His wife Chessie Wilmoth DeBusk is 17 TX and Vera 6/12 TX. He is a son of the following Lewis Putman and his wife Bertha Jarrett. He was at home with them in 1910 and 1920.

 

LOUIS S. (LEWIS SIMUEL) PUTMAN  Dickens Township, Dickens County

He is 59 TX (really AL) and widowed since his wife Bertha Jarrett has just died January 11, 1920. He still has Emma S. 27 TX, Simeon H. (Howard) 22 TX, Raymond 20 TX and Leonard 10 TX. He owns a blacksmith shop. He is a son of John Howard and Cerina Putman from Cass County. John was a son of Simeon Putman from Marion County Alabama. Lewis was born in Marion County Alabama August 15, 1870. He married Bertha Jarrett on March 24, 1895. They were in Cass County in 1900 through 1920. Bertha was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 26, 1879. Her folks were William Raford Jarrett and Emeline Jane Clayton. Like his daddy, Lewis did some inventing on his own. He patented a 'lift machine' among others. Bertha died on January 11, 1930 and Lewis died on April 26, 1952, both in Dickens, Texas. The son Simeon Howard was born October 19, 1907 and will soon marry Martha Womack on July 26, 1930, and later Eula May Harrison. He will die August 20, 1994. Southern Putmans.

 

JOHN A. (AUSTIN) PUTMAN  Dickens Township, Dickens County

He is 38 TX TX TX and operates a service station. His wife Mary Ann Rash is 30 TX. They have been married 12 years and have John Mac 5 TX. Mary is divorced here in 1940 working and living in a hotel. He is a son of William Henry Putman and Dora Melvina Fox from Gonzales County where he was born July 31, 1899, and then here in 1920. He was with his folks in Presidio County in 1910 and then married to Mary in Socorro County New Mexico in 1920. They will be getting divorced soon and Mary is here in 1940. I don’t know where he is now, as he won’t die till October 28, 1967 in Wilbarger County Texas. The son John Mac was born July 17, 1924 and will die in Texas October 29, 1952. LOUIS F. (FRANKLIN LEWIS) PUTMAN  Dickens Township, Dickens County

He is 32 TX AL GA and a blacksmith. He might even be working at his dad’s shop. His wife of 9 years Rachel V. Stokes is 26 GA and they have Albert H. 6 TX and Oscar L. 3 TX. He is a son of Lewis Simuel Putman and Bertha Jarrett. He was born January 12, 1898 and will die in Dallas in March 1973. Rachel was born October 21, 1903 and will die in Dallas also in March 1994. WILLIAM E. PUTMAN  Spur, Dickens County

He is 36 TX, his wife Winnie D. is 34 TX and they have Billie (William Jr.) 10 TX. He is a son of William Henry Putman and Dora Melvina Fox from Gonzales County where he was born August 10, 1893 and he will die in Johnson County Texas April 26, 1975. He runs an oil and gasoline station and will still in 1940.

 

LEONARD M. (MARCUS) PUTMAN  Precinct 2, Donley County

He is 30 TX MS MS. His wife Terra Adella Garland is 29 MS and they have Clara C. 7 TX, Freda 5 TX and Leonard M. Jr. 2 TX. He is a son of Marcus Lafayette Putman and Corrie Brinson from here. He was born in Collin County and has been here since the 1910. He was born December 19, 1899 and will die here April 13, 1973. Terra was born January 20, 1901 and will die in Clarendon, Texas on Wednesday October 22, 1997 Southern Putmans from Tennessee.

 

M. L. (MARCUS LAFAYETTE) PUTMAN  Precinct 5, Donley County

He is 51 TN TN AL and rents a farm. Corrie (his wife Coranette Clementine Brinsom) is 48 TX and they now have Guy 25, Lois (a son) 18, Clyde 16, Edna 14, Eugene 9 and Wilma 6 all born in TX. He is a son of Charles Putman and Rosetta Hodges from McNairy County Tennessee. He was born there in January 1879 and will die here in 1950. He has been here since the 1880s when his folks headed out here. They were initially in Collin County and Mark has been here in Donley County since about 1908. The son Guy was born July 7, 1904 and will die here April 27, 1993. Clyde was born October 2, 1913 and will die here in Clarendon August 13, 1993. Lois is a son and will marry. He was born May 5, 1911 and will die in Clarendon, Donley County September 23, 1979. The tombstone also lists Willie born March 28, 1914 and no death date so she was alive in 1979 and must have remarried or something. Edna’s tombstone reads Edna Holsenbeck born January 5, 1916 and died in Clarendon March 22, 2000. Her husband Walter Tines Holsenbeck was born December 21, 1916 and died in Clarendon July 6, 1988. They had a daughter Ella Mae who was here in 1910 and 1920. She was born January 22, 1909 and died July 11, 1994 in Clarendon. She married Mayburn B. He is a son of James H. Putnam and was with the family here in 1910 and probably 1920 but not indexed. His stepmother Rina is widowed now in Jones County. James was a son of Jabel Putman from Tennessee and then Oregon County Oklahoma. Southern Putman family.

He is 56 TX TN AL and is boarding. He states he is married. He is a mechanic in an auto garage. He was married to Betty J. Redin in Wichita County in 1920, and that was about the first time I’ve seen him. He is a son of Willis Putman from McLennon County.

She is 6 TX OK TX and lives with her grandparents Joseph and Pearl Richards. She is still here in 1940. Her birth certificate says she is Katherine Lou Putman born here January 10, 1924. No idea as to her folks though.

She is 57 TX and widowed. She is living with her married daughter Lelia 41 TX and her husband Clarence Simmons 43 TN. She was married to William Putman who was a son of William Putman and Adeline Gipson. They were in Presidio County in 1910 and Dickens County in 1920. She will be back in Dickins County in 1935 and 1940.

She is Elsie Collins 31 NM and has Elsie J. 5 TX and Gerry P. 3 TX. She lives with her mother Helen Collins. She was or is married to Harrell Flemming Putman who is missing here. He was a son of Gerry Price Putman and Marianne Harrell and was born here. She is ‘officially’ widowed here in 1940 with the kids.  Southern Putman family.

The listing is under George Putnam, but is Gerrie Putman. He is 66 TX AL AL and now a farmer. His second wife Belle Harrell is 44 TX and runs a family hotel. They were here in 1910 and 1920. He is a son of Thomas Rogers Putman. He was married earlier to Marianne Harrell and was a superintendent of schools here back in 1900. Marianne was a sister of Belle. They were all here in 1900 and Marianne died in 1902 and Gerrie married Belle in 1910. He is also listed by himself in Eddy County New Mexico. He will be here until he dies September 20, 1938. Belle will be around until she dies here June 9, 1956.

He is 50 TX AL TX and his wife Georgia Crosby is 48 TX. They still have George 26 TX at home and their son Elijah is married here. George will soon marry Ruby French and they are here in 1940 too. They have been married almost 30 years and have been in Parker County where his dad was a mayor up until now. He is a son of Elijah Putman and Molly Self and was born January 21, 1880 in Falls County before the family moved to Parker County. He presently runs a garage and will sell tires and be here for the rest of his life and will die here November 13, 1945. Southern Putmans from South Carolina.

He is 21 CO SD CO and single. He is a machinist for the railroad. He is a son of Claude Eugene and Mary Putnam and was with his folks in Garfield County Colorado in 1910 and La Plata County Colorado in 1920. His folks are in Otero County Colorado now. Robert is married here in 1940. New England family out of New Hampshire then New York then Michigan.

 

WILFORD PUTMAN  El Paso, El Paso County

He is William Wilford Putman 32 UT single, lodging and a barker at a show or carnival. He is a son of William Lee Putman and his first wife Annie Gange and was born in Salt Lake City, Utah July 19, 1902 and will die May 1, 1960 in Long Beach, California. He will have 3 wives just like his dad. He married Martha Clara Charlesworth February 26, 1921. They divorced a couple of years later and he married Flora Elvera Bracken in 1931 and they were in California and in Los Angeles in 1940. He joined the Navy in 1941 and they were divorced in 1944. He then married Lucille Ruth Hill in 1948 or so and died in Long Beach July 5, 1960. His dad was a Mormon and the line goes back to Linn County Missouri to Indiana to Kentucky and then Virginia.

 

JOE PUTMAN  Precinct 7, Ellis County

He is 35 TX IL TX, his wife Emma Lois Parnell is 28 TX and they have Charles 6 TX, Mary 3 TX and Rolden 2 TX. He is a farmer and a son of Charles Waufine Putman and Tommie Keesee from Fulton County Illinois. Charles died here in 1922. Joe will die here December 24, 1935 and Lois is widowed in Washington DC in 1940. In 1940 these three kids and one more born in 1934 are Waxahachie, Ellis County with Emma’s mother Mary R. Parnell. She is 53 TX and widowed. She lives with her daughter Maggie Roberts 35 TX and her husband Elmer Roberts 38 TX. She is the widow of John Owen Putnam who died in Williamson County in 1918. They were in Williamson County in 1900 and in Travis County in 1910. They are all in Bell County in 1940.

 

HENRY PUTMAN  Bonham, Fannin County

He is now 58 AL AL TN. His wife Mamie Haney is 48 TN and Henry N. (Nevil) 17 TX is at home. He works at an oil refinery. He is a son of Wilson Putman and Roxanne Medford from Jackson County Alabama. He has been here since the 1880s. Mamie will die May 15, 1938 and he will marry Mae Evans who had married a Hampton guy before. She was born October 7, 1880 in Fannin County and will die here April 18, 1856. Southern Putman family.

He is 26 TX AL TN and his wife Laura Longston is 22 MO. They have a daughter Billie Ruth 4 TX. He is a son of Henry and Mammie Putman from here. He was listed before as Manford and Mumford. He is a mechanic at a pump factory. He is in Oklahoma in 1940 and named Manford then.

 

JAMES D. PUTNAM  Precinct 2, Fisher County

He is James Howard Putnam 51 MO US US and is a farmer. His wife Annie M. is 61 IL and they have their son Nelson 21 TX and his wife Vada Plemons 18 TX at home. He is a son of James Harvey Putnam and Margaret Ervin. He was in Eastland County in 1910 and 1920. He was born back in Oregon County Missouri and was a grandson of Jabel Putman from Tennessee. The son Nelson Andrew was born in Centerpoint, Texas November 7, 1908. He will die August 8, 1968. Vada was born May 27, 1911 and died February 22, 2002. Both are buried in Nienda, Texas. He is 41 AL AL AL. His wife Eula Mae Calhoun is 37 TX, and they have Bonnie 17, Lucy 14, Fern 10, Bruce 8 and Lloyd 2/12 all born in Texas. They live with her widowed father George Calhoun. He is presently out of work. They were in Van Zandt County in 1920 and he was with his folks John Forney Putman and Nancy Cox in Kaufman County in 1910, Wood County in 1900 and back in Marion County Alabama before that. John was born in 1889 and will die in 1958. Eula was born in 1893 and will die in 1978. Both are buried in the Tate Cemetery in Tarrant County Texas. Southern Putmans.

He is 34 TX IL US and works at a filling station. A. Pauline Atchley his wife is 27 TX TX TN and Margaret D. 5 TX. He is a son of Owen H. Putnam and Mary Eddy. He was home here in 1900 and 1910 and in 1920. His folks are still here in the County. New England family out of New Hampshire and Massachusetts before that.

He is 44 TX IL IL and rents a farm. His wife Beatrice Turner is 34 TX and they have Edward 16 TX, Catherine 12 TX, Walter 7 TX and a son Iodes or something 2 TX. He was here in 1910 with his folks Owen Putnam and Mary Eddy. He was married Swisher County in 1920. His folks are nearby too. He was born September 16, 1885 and will die here in January 1974. New England family.

 

BEN PUTNAM  Evant, Hamilton County

He is 37 TX IL WV and owns a farm. His wife Ila Mae Ray is 33 TX, Nora Elsie 15 TX and Kenneth Luther 10 TX. He is a son of Owen Putnam and Mary Eddy from here. New England line from New Hampshire and Massachusetts before that. He was born December 3, 1892 and will die in Bosque County on December 26, 1974. Ila Mae was born August 6, 1896 and will die November 10, 1939. They were married October 4, 1913 here in Evant, Texas. He will later marry Ora Belle Graham July 4, 1951. Ora Belle was born November 19, 1901 in Coryell County Texas. She was a daughter of Aaron Graham and Martha Louise McCleskey. She will die in Coryell County in May 1972. The daughter Nora Elise was born in 1915 and will marry Elmer Tucker in 1936 and die in 1943. The son Luther Kenneth was born in 1919 and died in 1999.

He is another son of Owen and Mary Putnam from here. He is now 26 TX IL WV and rents a farm along side his brother Ben. His wife Maude Alma Ray is 25 TX and they have Donald W. 3 TX. Alma is a sister of Ila Ray who married his brother Ben. They were married here October 6, 1923.  Her brother Alford Ray 23 TX is with them. The two gals are sisters and daughters of William Leonard Ray and Roxie Belle Sneed. John was born January 8, 1904 and will die in February 1983. Alma was born October 28, 1904 and will die in Sulphur Springs January 4, 1991. The son Donald Wayne was born in 1926 and will die here September 3, 1990.

 

OWEN PUTNAM  Precinct 5, Hamilton County

He is now 76 IL NH NH and owns his farm. His wife Mary Emalie Eddy is 68 WV. They have a grandson Robert Werner 6 TX. He is Stephan Carlos Putnam's son. Dad was from Hanover, New Hampshire. They were married here February 10, 1880. Owen will die here in 1941 and Mary in 1946.

 

BEN W. (WADE) PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 34 TX NY MS and is a deliveryman for a creamery. His wife of 9 years Frances Moore is 29 TX and they have a daughter Frances W. 2 TX. He is a son of Edgar Scott Putman (New York Dutch line) and Zelia Wade. He was in Orange County Texas in 1900 with his mother and his father had left them and went back to New York. His mom had remarried by 1920 and they were here in Houston in 1920.

 

CLYDE PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 38 LA NY IA. His wife Vera Jane is 35 KS, and they have Margaret J. 10 KS and Clyde Jr. 6 KS. He is an engineer in a lumberyard. Clyde Allen is a son of Edwin Joseph Putnam and Susan Brown from Calcasieu Parish Louisiana. He was born in Jennings, Louisiana December 19, 1892. He was home there in 1910 and obviously in Kansas in 1920 but not listed in the index. They were there in the 1925 Kansas State Census. He and Vera will split as in his 1942 WWII registration he was living in Norfolk, Virginia and married to an Ellen. He is working in the Portsmouth Virginia Navy Yard for Dry Dock Associates. That’s also where I got his birth info. By 1935 Vera was married to Moses Wright and they were in Miami County Kansas and Clyde Junior was with her then and in 1940. His dad was a son of Harvey Putnam and Rebecca Stewart from Vermont originally. New England family.

           

EDWARD PUTMAN  Houston, Harris County

He is 38 TX TX TX and works in a garage. His wife Emma Blalock is 36 TX and they have Edward J. 6 TX. They were here in 1920. He is a son of Silas B. Putman from Llano County. He was born May 22, 1892. In 1920 he and his wife Emma Blalock are living with his brother Fred in Houston. He died in Houston May 11, 1967. Emma was born October 26, 1893 and died September 22, 1961. Southern Putmans.

 

EDWARD L. (LEE) PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 39 LA LA LA and an accountant with an oil company. His wife Bessie Pearl Ingram is 42 TX and they have Helen J. 14 LA and Elizabeth 10 TX. Also here is a niece Ronnie Mae Sweeney 19 LA. He is a son of Robert S. Putnam and Jennie Nourse from Iberia Parish, Louisiana. He and his mom and most of the family were here in 1920. Edward was born April 4, 1891 and will die here in Houston in August 1986. Pearl was born March 5, 1897 and will die here at age 100 on March 11, 1997. This line was from Massachusetts originally.

 

FRANK PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 61 OH NY OH and says he is widowed. He is boarding and in outdoor advertising. He was married to Mary Thrower here in 1910. She has been here in 1920 and now. They both say they are widowed, but are divorced. Their son Paul is married here in Houston now. See the 1910 for who he probably is.

 

FRANK PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 61 OH NY OH and ‘widowed.’ A dual listing on separate pages but both times listed under William Rienhardt 68 TX who is widowed. He is 'widowed' from 1920 on because he cheated on his wife, lived in hotels for the rest of his life, and she only let him come home on the weekends so he could spend time with the family. He unsuccessfully ran for Governor in 1930 and 1932. He just pops up in Black Hawk County Iowa in 1870 at age 1 OH with his mother Cassie who had remarried A. J. Cashman. No idea on his dad except his name was Oscar Putnam and was from Cincinnati. Frank’s death certificate here in Houston on December 5, 1949 says he is widowed and was born in Cincinnati, Ohio August 20, 1867. His dad was Oscar Allen Putnam from Cincinnati and his mom Cassandra McElroy. He is an editor for a newspaper here in Houston. Just can’t figure who Oscar was though.

His previous kid Josephine is now back in Beaumont with his divorced and re-married Anna Gray. That’s where they were in 1910. Fred Eugene is a son of George Spencer Putnam and Jane Hunter. They were all in Beaumont in 190 and 1910 and Michigan before that. Fred will die here August 7, 1931 and Pearl will hang around till she dies March 11, 1997 a Centenarian.

He is John Hugh Putman 55 AR TN TN and is a house building contractor. Mabel E. Booth his wife is 52 MO and Ethel J. 23 TX is still at home. Also here is his widowed mother Martha 82 TN. He is a son of William James Putman and Martha Jane Floriday from here in Houston and then back in Benton County Arkansas where he was born. They have been in Houston in 1910 but were in Walker County in 1920. His dad William just died here August 15, 1928. Southern line of course.

She is now 62 LA and widowed. She still has Alice J. 40 LA and Robert S. (Jr.) 33 LA at home. She is Jennie Norse, the widow of Robert Spearing Putnam of Iberia Parish (1900) and Lafayette Parish (1910), Louisiana. She was widowed here in 1920 too. Alice was born February 2, 1890 and will die here in Houston in March 1969. She never married. New England family.

She is 22 TX LA LA and her sister Irene is 32 LA LA LA both are single and working in offices as bookkeepers and stenographers. They are kids of James Henry Putnam Jr., and were with him here in 1920. New England family originally.

Mary Thrower is 60 IA and lives alone. She says she is ‘widowed’ just like her husband Frank who is here in town still. They were here in 1910 and on and got a divorce it seems. She was without him here in 1920.

He was first married to Lula Belle Wallace who died in 1891. Monroe is a son of Hillen and Julia Putman from Colorado County and ten Cherokee County Texas. Hillen was a son of Nimrod Putman and Sarah Dollar from Laurens County South Carolina. They are all here in 1940.

He is 36 WI US IA, and is a sales manager for an oilfield supply company. His wife of 12 years Frances McQueen is 35 TX and they have Paul M. 9 TX and Frank A. 7 TX. He is a son of Frank Arthur Putnam and Mary Agatha Thrower. He was at home here in 1910 and married here in 1920. His dad and mom seem to have gotten a divorce and are both still here but living alone.

He is 35 TX OK TX and a mechanic for the light and power company. His wife Pearl is 38 TX. He is an adopted son of Simeon Francis Putnam in Cooke County. His mother Fannie married Sim in 1904 and Silas was at home there in 1910 and married here in Houston in 1920. Silas was born October 21, 1894 and will die here in Houston in November 1969.

He is 25 TX LA LA and is single and boarding. He is a driller on an oil well for Watts Oil. He is a son of James Henry and Lilly Putnam from here in Houston. The family was in Vermillion Parish Louisiana before that. New England family. James was a son of James Mercier Putnam.

He is 34 TX TX TX and works in an oil refinery. His wife of 12 years Rebecca Trujillo is 37 MEX. They have Ruby 9 TX and Arthur 7 TX. Amzy Darius Putman is a son of Simeon Mercer Putman and Adeline Victoria Stone. He was born in McCulloch County and the family was in Webb County in 1910. He was married in Juarez Mexico March 31 1918. He is a Texas Border Ranger and will die in Laredo Webb County on April 8, 1931. Southern Putmans.

He is 34 OK AL AL. He owns a truck farm. His wife Elizabeth Daniels is 34 MS. She was married before and has two kids, Henry McGee 15 TX and Bonita McGee 8 LA. Her uncle W. A. Daniels 73 MS is here. He is divorced and in Houston in 1940. Also here is Posey’s brother R. (Ralph) M. Putnam 20 TX. They are sons of John M. Putman and Ida Smith. They were in Grayson County Texas in 1910 and in Clark County Arkansas in 1920. The folks are in Oklahoma City now. He is 33 TX TN AL and owns a farm. His wife Una Granville English is 29 TX and in their 9 years of marriage they have Edwin C. 8, Charles 6, J. H. (John Hennis) 5, Eva W. 2 and Laura J. 5/12 all TX. He is a son of Josiah Hennis Putman and Martha Lou Raines from Navarro County. He was born October 10, 1896 and will die in Lubbock October 12, 1982. Una was born March 6, 1901 and will die in Lubbock August 11, 1987. Southern Putmans.

He is a farmer now, but will be a carpenter and die here in 1985. Dorothy will go till 1991. He is a son of Lewis Simuel Putman and Bertha Jarrett from Cass County. He is now 60 AR AR AR and a foreman for the railroad. His wife Teresa May Curran is 42 TX and they have Kyle 24 TX and Robert L. 17 TX. He is a son of William Lester Putman and Charlotte Mabry from Benton County Arkansas. They were in Anderson County in 1910 and 1920. The son Jose Kyle will marry Lucille Hall in a couple of years. He is 36 NE NY IA single and boarding. He is a butcher at a meat market. He is a son of William Willard Putman and Anna Miller from Brown County Nebraska. He was born there and was there through the 1920. Dutch family out of St. Lawrence County New York.

 

W. A. (WILLIAM ANSON) PUTNAM  Hubbard, Hill County

He is now 75 AL SC AL and retired. His wife Tyna Daffan is 73 TX. He is a son of Anson Putman and Hester Royer from Morgan County Alabama. He came to Navarro County with his mother after his dad died. He has been here in Hill County for a while and will be here till he dies in November 1935. Tyna will die here on April 2, 1938. Southern Putmans out of the Carolinas.

 

DUDLEY G. (GODALL) PUTMAN  Precinct 1, Hill County

He is 28 TX AL TX and still single. He has been with his grandfather William Conner (spelled Caviner here) since the 1910. He is a son of Dudley Cicero Putman. His mother was a Conner and by 1910 his dad was married to another gal and was in Oklahoma. Dudley will marry Willie Mae Griffin here in a couple of years. Dudley was born in Hill County Texas August 14, 1902 and died August 5, 1979. His dad left him with his grandfather Connors, and went to Oklahoma with a second wife. Willie Mae Griffin was born April 16, 1904 and died in Hill County March 19, 1995.  Southern Putman family from St. Clair County Alabama.

He is 32 TX TN TN and his wife Esther Crossland is 28 TX. They now have David 10 TX and Edwin 4 TX. They were in Wood County along with his brothers Auvil, Ben and James in 1920 and are back here now. He is a son of James and Sarah Putman from here. He is 46 TX TN TN and his wife Avie Calhoun is 41 TX. Still at home are James Elmo 21 and Evelyn 18 TX. He is a son of James and Sarah Putman and has been in Wood County up until now. She is now 75 TX and still lives with her sister Nellie E. Miller 65 TX and her husband Tom. She is the widow of Calvin Veder Putman from New York, they were here in 1900, not listed in 1910 and she was widowed here in 1920. Calvin was part of the New York Dutch family.

He is 25 TX TX TX and his wife Maurine Hatchett is 22 TX. He rents a farm. He is a son of James Samuel Putman and Avie Pauline Calhoun. He was born in Wood County and then the whole family moved here in the 1920s. They are here in 1940 with 2 kids.

He is 40 TX AL AL His wife Pearl Gilliam is 38 TX and they have Della E. 18, Velma 16, Samuel 14, Louis D. 13, J. D. a son 11 and Nellie 9 all born TX. He is a son of John Putman and Susan Jerden from here, and like all his brothers was in Wood County in 1920.

He is Charles Worth Putman, a son of Howard Brazelton Putman and Sophronia Manly from here. Southern Putman line descended from Ezekiel Putman from South Carolina and then Hall County Georgia.

He is 29 TX TX TX and Grace his wife of 11 years is 28 TX. They have Cecil 9 TX and Virgil 7 TX. He is a son of John and Susan from Hopkins County and like most of his brothers was in Wood County in 1920. Southern family.

He is 48 TX GA TX and still single. His widowed mother Sophronia 79 TX is with him as is his widowed sister Julia Olson 56 TX. He is Howard Manly Putman, a son of Howard Brazelton Putman and Sophronia Manly from here. His folks were from Cherokee County Georgia. Southern Putmans. There is an obit of a Howard Putnam born September 12, 1882 and died in Sulphur Springs in August 1972.

 

JAMES D. (DAVID) PUTMAN  Clinton, Hunt County

He is 64 MS, his wife Carrie Phillips 58 MS, and they have Ray (Raymond Cuel) 33 TX, his wife Eula Young 35 TX, Frank 19 TX and Eugene 12 TX. He is a son of William Martin Putman Jr. and Alice Crow and was born in Pontotoc County Mississippi March 22, 1866 and will die in Copeville, Collin County on April 10, 1949. They have been there since the 1890s. They are here in 1940 too. Southern Putman family South Carolina to Alabama to Mississippi.

She is 64 TN and widowed. Laura Bell Simmons is the widow of George L. Putman from Jefferson County Tennessee. They have been in Collin County since the 1880s. She still has James F. 44 TX, Jesse G. 31 TX and Samuel A. (Alonzo) 23 TX at home. The son Samuel ‘Lonnie’ Putnam will soon marry Willie Jewell Howell. Charles Sylvester is 37 TX TN TN and his wife Mavis Edna Stinebaugh is 37 TX. They have J. G. a son 11 TX, Charlie 9 TX, Billie Jo a daughter 5 TX and Wanda 5/12 TX. He is a son of George Putman and Laura Simmons from Collin County. He was born February 18, 1893 and will die December 30, 1975. He married Mavis Stinebaugh June 2, 1916, and they were in Collin County Texas in the 1920 census. She was born March 28, 1893 and will die July 17, 1985. The son Charlie was born June 9, 1921 and will die here July 10, 1959. Southern line from Jefferson County Tennessee and North Carolina before that.

 

VIRGIL T. (TAYLOR) PUTMAN  Wolfe City, Hunt County

He is 60 MS NC AL and his wife Sarah Miller is 56 TX. They have Bill (Willis Willey) 36 TX at home and also their married daughter Lula May Perkins 30 TX and two of her kids, but no hubby. He is a farmer and was here in 1900 and in Fannin County since then. He is a son of Lorenzo Dow Putman from here and Calhoun County Mississippi before that. Southern Putman Family.

 

WILLIAM H. (HUBER) PUTNAM  Precinct 2, Hutchinson County

He is 23 NE NE KY and an office clerk for a gas and oil company. He is William Huber Putman a son of John Joseph Putman from Richardson County Nebraska as shown in 1910 and 1920. He was born there May 17, 1907. His mother’s (Gertrude Huber) family has and still does have an oil drilling company here in Borger. William is working for them. He will marry Clara Augusta Phinney here on March 16, 1933. He will work with Sinclair Oil & Gas for 41 years and work in the Huber oil fields here and in Louisiana. He will die in Lafayette, Louisiana in February 1981. This family is Dutch from New York State originally.

He is 56 TX PA PA and he owns a farm. His wife Abigail Whitley is 42 TX and they have Rowena E. 16 TX, Zilpha E. 15 TX, Roy A. Junior 13 TX, Tillie N. 10 TX and J. Porter 8 TX. He is Royal Augustus Putnam a son of Perley Porter Putnam and Martha Ellen Marvin and was born here. His dad was a son of Thomas Putnam and Zilpha Miller Porter from Covington, Tioga County Pennsylvania. New England Family. Been here all his life. The son Royal Augustus Junior was born October 9, 1916 and will die in San Antonio March 22, 1998.

He is 60 TX PA PA and owns a farm. He is another son of Perley Porter Putnam and Martha Ellen Marvin and was born here. His wife Ruth Atkinson is 75 TX. Sam was born here July 26, 1869 and will die here August 14, 1938. Ruth is a daughter of William Atkinson and Martha Wilson. She was born April 21, 1853 here in Jackson and will die here in Edna November 1, 1932. Been here all their lives. New England family.

He is another son of Perley Porter Putnam and Martha Ellen Marvin and was born here. He is 53 TX LA LA (actually TX PA PA). His wife Julia Victoria Bailik is 36 TX AUSTRIA GERMANY. Then there is Vermel 16 AR TX TX listed as a daughter and Tillie T. Jr. 5 TX. They have been married for 9 years so Vermel must be from an earlier marriage of Julia’s. He works on an oil drilling rig. He will die here May 26, 1938. New England line from Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts.

She is 23 TX MI LA and still living with her mother Anna and stepfather George Hilmer. She was shown here in 1910 with her dad Fred Eugene Putman from Michigan. Her mother was also remarried here in 1920. Josie will be here in 1940 and says she is divorced.

He is Frederick William Willard Putnam Jr. a son of Frederick and Carrie Putnam from Richmond Virginia where he was born. His dad Frederick William Willard Putman was a son of Willard Putman and Ellen Ragan from Syracuse, New York and then Richmond, Virginia. Willard was a son of David Putman and Ann Vrooman from Montgomery then Onondaga County New York. Dutch family out of Montgomery County New York. He operated a Burlesque theater in Richmond.

He is 35 PA PA PA and works in an oil refinery. His wife Jessie Gertrude Allio is 28 PA. They have been married less than a year. He is a ‘junior’, a son of Homer Manley Putnam and Bella Chase from Warren Pennsylvania. He’s been there up till now. He was born January 26, 1895 and will die here in Port Arthur in January 1978. Jessie was born May 1, 1903 and will die in La Mesa, Texas in January 1983. New England Family.

She is 4 VA VA VA and listed as daughter of Mary Radford 50 TX. She would be a granddaughter and belongs to Fred here in town. She is probably from a first marriage he had. She is living with him and Isabelle in 1940.

 

WELLIE PUTNAM  Precinct 1, Johnson County

He is Wellington Milburn Putman 32 MS MS MS and a boilermaker for the railroad. His wife Selma Ince is 26 TX and they have Edna 6 TX and Marjorie 2/12 TX. Selma’s widowed mother Martha Ince 51 IL is with them. They were married here June 17, 1922. He will die of emphysema December 28, 1967 in Grandview, Texas. They had three daughters all told. He is a son of the following William Franklin Putman and Florence Lemons.

He is 45 MS MS LA. His wife Nellie Stewart is 41 MS. Their son Junius is listed as Jimmie 17 MS. Junius was born June 21, 1912 in Mississippi and died December 21, 1992 in Cleburne, Texas. He rents a farm like his brother Wesley. He is a son of Albert Gallatin Putman and Charlotte McKnight of Scott County Mississippi. They were there in 1910 and here in 1920. Southern Putmans.

He is 56 LA MS LA and his wife Della Crecelius is 58 MS MS MS. They still have Monroe 24 MS at home. He is Wesley Monroe Putman, a son of Albert Gallatin Putman and Charlotte McKnight of Scott County Mississippi. He and several of his brothers and cousins were here in 1920 and some still are. Wesley will die in Fort Worth January 3, 1934. The son Monroe Ellis was born November 10, 1905 and will soon marry Annie Mae Dobson and be here till he dies October 6, 1971. He is 48 MS MS MS and works for the steam railway. Eva Mae Waldrop his wife is 47 GA. They have Charles Jr. 18 TX, Ralph 16 TX, Mary 10 TX, and Jack 6 TX. He is a son of James W. Putman and Martha J. Murphy from Choctaw County Mississippi. The whole family has been here since about 1908. His dad is living here with his brother William. Southern Putman family.

He is 36 MS MS MS and a farmer. He has been married 6 years to Dollye Maupin 25 TX. They have Ruth 2 and Herbert 5/12 TX. Also here is his widowed dad Jim 69 MS. James was married to Martha Murphy who died in 1918 and was widowed here in 1920 too. James will die here March 27, 1937. Will was born August 10, 1893 and will die here April 26, 1973. Dollye is a daughter of W. Coleman and Frances L. Maupin and was born July 9, 1904 and will die here in Joshua, Johnson County November 15, 1992. They are from Choctaw County Mississippi. He is listed 16 TX AL TX and a nephew of Charles Adams. He was here in 1920 living as a niece of Earl Adams. Clovis is a son of Lonnie Putman and Willie Adams from Hood County. He was born July 10, 1913 and will die in Richardson, Texas March 25, 1993. He will mary Mildred Lois Pollard. She was born December 5, 1914 and will die soon after they are married on July 1, 1932. He then married Zannie Marie Weaver. She was born August 20, 1917 and will die in Richardson, Dallas County April 29, 1995 Southern Putmans.

 

J. M. (JAMES MARTIN) PUTMAN  Anson, Jones County

He is 69 AL AL AL. His wife Eliza Ann Farris is 63 AL and they have Mark Lee 32 TX and Roy 25 TX. He is the son of James Putman of Marshall County Alabama and a grandson of Martin and Huldy Putman. They were in Navarro County in 1900 and then here in 1910 and ‘missing’ in 1920. The son Mark married Bertha White here in 1925. She and their two kids are nearby in Stanford, Jones County with her folks. Guess they are separated or something, but they will be back together in Eastland County in 1940. The son Roy Farris was born August 22, 1904 and will die here September 23, 1989. He will marry Faye who was born April 18, 1904 and will die here January 18, 1992. Roy and Faye are in Seminole City, Oklahoma in 1940. Jim and Eliza are in Eastland County too in 1940. Southern Putman family.

He is a son of Joseph Barnet Putman and Julia McGinnis from Caldwell County. He was a banker in Lueders, Texas. He died in a Dallas hospital on March 8, 1959. Gertrude died April 4, 1968. In 1920 and 1930, they are in Jones County Texas. From his granddaughter, “He was the President of the bank in Lueders during the depression years. His bank was one of a handful in Texas that did not close its doors, nor did he foreclose on anyone's property or business during that era. I did not realize the significance of this or how well thought of he was until his funeral in 1959. People for all over Texas came to Lueders...the church was filled and hundreds of people lined the streets to pay their respects as we drove from the church. We never saw anything like it in the history of the town.  He is still remembered.” The daughter Julia was born in 1917 and will die in 1998. She will marry Stanley Livingston Vinson in 1944. The daughter Mary Alice was born in 1924. She will marry Robert Vanderventer in 1950. MARCUS G. (GREEN) PUTMAN  Precinct 8, Jones County

He is 56 AL AL US and rents a farm. His wife Annie Weaver is 48 AL and they have Owen M. (Marcus) 24 TX, Louise K. 19 TX, H. W. (Henry White) 14 TX and Robert 11 TX. He is a son of James Winston Putman from Marshall County Alabama. They have been in Hill County since the 1890s. Marcus will die in Denton County on February 14, 1937. Annie is widowed in Dallas in 1940. Southern Putmans.

 

LUTHER PUTMAN  Precinct 6, Kaufman County

He is 45 AL AL AL and a farmer. His wife Bessie Mings is 40 TX and they have Ruby 21, Josie 19, Dewey 14, Jenny May 11 and Pauline 10 all TX. He is a son of John Forney Putman and Nancy Cox from Marion County Alabama. The family was in Wood County Texas in 1900 and here from 1910 on.

 

ABNER PUTMAN  Precinct 2, Kendall County

He is 58 TX US US and his wife Theda Babcock is 51 MN. He does odd jobs. He is a son of William Putman and Adeline Gibson from Gonzales County.  The family was here in Kendall County in 1880. He married Martha Hickson and they were in Custer County Montana in 1900 and both there but divorced in 1910. He then married Theda Hussey and they were in Prairie County Montana in 1920 and are back here now. Abner was born in November 1871 and died in San Antonio November 21, 1946. Theda Estella Babcock was born in Minnesota April 10, 1879 and died in San Antonio May 30, 1961. Southern Putman family.

 

DANIEL I. (ISAAC) PUTMAN  Paris, Lamar County

He is 43 TX AL TX and is a farmer. His wife Cora Olive Culpeper is 43 TX. They have Elva 17 TX, Isaac 14 TX, Corrine 9 TX and Lynn a son 5 TX. Cora’s folks Frank Culpeper 74 TX and Eliza 72 AL are with them. He is a son of John Washington Putman and his second wife Lou Quigg from Llano County. Daniel was born there August 2, 1886 and will be here until he dies August 26, 1946. Southern Putmans.

 

AUDIE PUTMAN  Precinct 4, Limestone County

He is 17 TX TX TX and a stepson of Joe B. Moore 37 TX, and his wife Lillie Toten 36 TX. Lillian was married to his father John Harvie Putman from Navarro County. John was a son of John Anderson Putman and Fannie Jane McCulloch from there. His dad died in 1913 and Lillie married Joe Benjamin Moore in 1915.

 

JOSIAH G. (GREEN) PUTNAM  Mexia, Limestone County

He is now 72 AL NC TN and is still living wit his married daughter Roberta (listed here as Blossom) Sweat 42 NM and her husband John H. Sweat. He is a son of Anson and Hester Putman from Navarro County. Josiah was a traveling Methodist preacher. He retired in 1915 and has been living here ever since. He will die here October 6, 1934. Southern Putman family from North Carolina.

 

W. (WILLIAM) BADY PUTMAN  Llano, Llano County

He is 43 TX TX TX and a plant man with the telephone company. His wife Mary Jane Raines is 39 TX and their daughter Minnie is 5 TX. Also here are his widowed mother Elizabeth 89 TX and his brother George who is also listed as being widowed. He is a son of Samuel Houston Putman and Mary Elizabeth Chew. They were all here in 1920, in Kendall County before that.  They are here, except for his mother Elizabeth who will die here July 6, 1931, in 1940. Southern Putman family from Bedford County Tennessee before heading out west.

 

WAYNE & OTHER PUTMANS  Precinct 1, Lubbock County

Wayne is 18 TX TX TX, Weldon 15 TX and Clay 11 TX. They are listed as nephews of David and Viola King. Viola is their father’s sister. The kids are sons of John Wesley and Carrie King Putman. They were all in Cooke County as a family in 1920. No idea where the folks are now. John and Viola were children of James M. Putman and Melinda Majors from here and originally from Alabama. Their brother William has moved here too. The son John Weldon was born February 22, 1915 and will marry Oneta Ayers here in the later 1930s. They are in Bernalillo County New Mexico in 1940 and they have a stepson George McKinze 5 TX from Oneta’s first marriage.  He will die here in Lubbock January 11, 1999. Southern Putman line.

 

WILLIAM N. (NEWTON) PUTMAN  Precinct 1, Lubbock County

He is another son of James and Melinda Putman and has also been in Cooke County up until now. He is 47 TX TX TX. His wife Minnie Lee Schumacher is 42 TX and they now have Paul 23 TX, Jerry 21 TX, Harold 19 TX, Lydia 17 TX, Biddie14 TX, twins Glen and Gladys 11 TX, Frances 5 OK and Ralph 2 OK. The son Paul was born November 11, 1906 and will die here on December 5, 1934. Minnie was born June 15, 1887 and will die in June 1974. The son Harold was born June 29, 1911 and died in Fort Worth on August 9, 1997. Glenn was born February 25, 1919 and died January 23, 1936. James Jerry was born November 10, 1908 and died in Lubbock, Texas October 3, 1962. Southern line from St. Clair County Alabama and South Carolina before that.

 

RALPH PUTMAN  Precinct 7, McCulloch County

He is 45 KS KS KS (should read KS IL AR) and a house carpenter. His wife Gertrude is 44 AR. Their widowed daughter Eldridge Crew 21 TX is with them and has a son Bobby 1 CA. He is a son of Reding Putman and Dorthea White from Washington County Arkansas. Ralph was born while the family was in Rice County Kansas in the 1880s. The family was here in Texas in the 1890s, in Lamar County in 1900 and Runnels County since. Southern Putmans Arkansas then Illinois then South Carolina and Virginia.

 

FRED W. (WAGNER) PUTMAN  Precinct 1, McLennan County

He is 32 AL NC AL, his wife Cora Thompson is 29 OK and they have Robert 9 TX and Martha 1 TX. He lives next to his parents Samuel and Martha Putman. Fred was born October 10, 1897 and will die in Waco in January 1980 Cora was born April 13, 1900 and will also die in Waco in August 1978.

 

SAM T. PUTMAN  Precinct 1, McLennan County

He is 59 NC NC NC and his wife Martha Delaney Stevens is 61 AL. He rents a farm. Next door or maybe in the same house are their married daughter Opal M. Carlson 19 TX and her husband Willie Carlson 19 TX. He is a son of Lorenzo Dow Putman and Margaret Ann Forbes from Cleveland County North Carolina. They were in Cleburne County Alabama in 1900 and here in 1910 and 1920 and both still will be in 1940. Southern Putmans.

 

(LORENZO) DOW PUTNAM  Waco, McLennan County

He is 28 NC NC NC (NC NC AL) and an automobile mechanic. His wife Winnie Mae Roberts is 22 TX and they have L. D. (Lorenzo Dow) 4 TX. He is Lorenzo Dow a son of Samuel Putman who is here in the County. He was born July 17, 1899. He married Winnie Mae Roberts in 1924. Winnie was born in Mount Vernon, Texas June 1, 1907 and died here July 26, 2004. He will die here January 22, 1972.

 

FRED H. (HALE) PUTTMAN (PUTNAM)  Waco, McLennan County

He is 74 CAN EAST CAN CAN, his wife Lula Brown is 53 TX. He is an auditor for a furniture company. He is a son of George Putnam and Orpha Wells and was born March 12, 1857 in Ingersoll, Oxford County Ontario. He was with his folks there in 1861 and then in Kansas City Missouri in 1870 and back up in Ontario in 1871 as his mom had just died. Then his dad remarried and went to Waco, Texas and married Sarah Angeline Tuller there June 12, 1879 and Fred is there near them in Hill County Texas 1880. He then came up to Chicago soon afterwards and married Julia Donals there in 1884. They were in Chicago in 1900 and Seattle, Washington in 1910. Family originally from New England.

 

EARL E. (EUGENE) PUTNAM  Precinct 6, Medina County

He is 32 TX ME KY and chief engineer for the Illinois Pipeline Company. His wife Bessie Blanche Sissel is 22 AR and they have Earl E. 2/12 TX. He is a son of Ansil Smith Putnam and Rose Ellen Bishop, originally from Maine. He was born in Angelina County on February 27, 1898 and will die in Austin in March 1974. His dad just popped up there in 1860 at age 6 and was living with a Wright family, so no ideas at all as to his folks. New England family though.

 

LEWIS C. (LOUIS CHESTER) PUTMAN  Midland, Midland County

He is 23 TX and his wife Doris Ophelia Harris is 21 TX. They were just married this year. They are also listed (I think) in Houston where they were probably married as they are just listed as Mr. and Mrs. Putman same ages and also just married November 29, 1929. They are in Hunt County in 1935 and in Gregg County in 1940. Anyway, his name is Louis Chester Putman and he is a son of Virgil Taylor Putman and Sarah Frances Miller and was born in Fannin County November 15, 1906. Doris is a daughter of Barnet Wilson Harris and Sarah Lydia Sarathine and was born September 23, 1908 in Hunt County and will die in Hunt County April 1, 1979. Louis will die in Tarrant County May 23, 1956. Both are buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, Hunt County. His dad Virgil is a son of Lorenzo Dow Putman from Cleveland County North Carolina and then Calhoun County Mississippi. Southern Putmans of course.

 

CHARLIE B.  PUTMAN  Colorado City, Mitchell County

He is 53 TX GA TN and he is a tractor operator on the highway construction. His wife Alice E. Strickland is 50 TX and they have Bessie 21 TX, Charles V. 19 TX, and Lillian 14 TX. He is a son of William Jacob Putman Jr. and Betty Ann Farmer. He was born Tarrant County and has been in Coleman County since the 1910. Southern Putman family from Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

W. H. (WILLIAM HENRY) PUTNAM  Westbrook, Mitchell County

He is 42 AL AL AL and rents a farm. His wife Florence Buckner is 39 AL and they have Ora 17 TX, a son A. C. (Andrew Columbus) 14 TX, a daughter Cloy 11 TX, Florence 7 TX and Dorothy 4 TX. He is William Henry Putman a son of Andrew Putman and Rachel Pierce from Blount County Alabama. He was home in 1900 in Alabama and in Ellis County Texas in 1910 and in Scurry County in 1920.

 

ROBERT D. PUTMAN  Precinct 4, Montague County

He is 37 TX TX TX and single. He is a farmer. Another one I can’t find earlier. The name really looks like Pittman too.

 

HIRAM PUTNAM  Precinct 4, Montgomery County

He is 52 GA GA GA and owns a farm. His wife Eula Everett is 50 GA and they have Earl 25 FL and H. Aldine 16 TX (Hiram Aldine, a son, born November 4, 1913. He is a son of Francis Allen Putman and Henrietta Sanson of Spaulding County Georgia. He has been here since the early 1900s. Southern Putman family.

 

HELEN PUTNAM  Corsicana, Navarro County

She is 18 TX TX LA and a niece of John and Bertie Varnell. She was with them here in 1920. No idea as to her folks though except Bertie was her mom’s sister, as they were both from Louisiana.

 

GEORGE WASHINGTON PUTMAN  Precinct 4, Navarro County

He is 38 TX TN TN and a farmer. His wife Izora French is 31 TX and they have Margalene 10 TX, Buel 9 TX and Roberta 5 TX. He is a son of John Royer Putman and Mary Ann Warden. He was born here February 23, 1892 and will die here February 10, 1984. He married Izora French on December 16, 1917. Izora was born July 23, 1898 and she will die here April 13, 1984. His widowed mother and married sister live next door, probably on the same lands. Southern Putmans from Tennessee and North Carolina before that.

 

MARY PUTMAN  Precinct 4, Navarro County

John Royer Putman’s widow Mary Ann Warden is now 69 TN and has her married daughter Fannie Shaw 47 TX and her family with her. John died at age 69 on May 14, 1911. Mary Ann will die December 24, 1935. Both are buried in the Liberty Hill Cemetery.

 

WILLIAM W. (WESLEY) PUTMAN  Precinct 4 (Dawson), Navarro County

He is 44 TX AL TN and is a farmer. His wife Willie Belle Duke is 39 TX and they now have Annie Belle 20, William Wesley Jr. 18, Audry D. a son 16, Rosa L. 14, Tina Mae 12, James D. 10, Catherine M. 7, and a son Kirksey M. 5 all born TX. Also here are his folks Wesley B. Putman 78 AL and Sarah Ann Chatman 82 TN. He was born June 17, 1885 and will die in Hubbard, Texas June 15, 1970. He married Willie Belle Duke about 1908. Willie was born January 5, 1891 and died in Hubbard in January 1983.

 

CHARLIE A. (ANDERSON) PUTNAM  Precinct 5, Navarro County

He is 33 TX TX TX and rents a farm. His wife Ollie Mae Garland is 24 TX. They have been married 6 years and they have Margaret 5 TX, Charlie 2 TX and Winnie 1 TX. He is the son of William Hennis Putman and Lou Ellen McCulloch from here. They will be here all their lives. She will die in the 1970s and he in January 1980. Southern Putmans.

 

ARTIE PUTNAM  Precinct 5, Navarro County

He is 34 TX TN AL (he says TX TX TX but no) and rents a farm. His wife Hettie Odell is 32 TX and they have Chester D. 11, Cordena L. 8, Glendon 5, Artie Jr. 3 and William R. 1 all born TX. Artie Newton Putman is a son of John Anderson Putman and Fannie Jane McCulloch and was born here. He was born September 27, 1895 and died March 2, 1982. He married Hettie Lou Odell on July 15, 1917. She was born December 13, 1897 and died December 13, 1989. The son Chester Doyle was born June 10, 1918 and died in Corsicana, Texas September 3, 2008. Glendon Douglas was born October 7, 1924 and died August 26, 2004. He married Hazel Marie Griffin on October 20, 1944. She was born September 16, 1927 and died May 12, 1994. Both are buried in Younger Cemetery in Silver City, Navarro County. 

 

CLARENCE D. (DAFFIN) PUTMAN  Precinct 5, Navarro County

He is 23 TX TN AL and rents a farm. His wife Eunice Compton is 17 TX. He is a son of John Anderson Putman and was born here July 4, 1906. He married Eunice Compton on September 22, 1928. Eunice will die here April 29, 1935. Clarence will marry Loretta Bennett on June 7, 1941. Clarence will die in Navarro County on March 22, 1980. Loretta was a schoolteacher and will die here August 27, 2005.

 

JOHN A. (ANDERSON) PUTMAN  Precinct 5, Navarro County

The eldest son of John Royer Putman and Rachel James is now 62 TN AL GA and owns his farm. His wife Fannie McCulloch is 55 AL and Alvis 26 TX, Cecil 18 TX and Lois 21 TX are still at home. John was born December 18, 1867 in Maury County Tennessee. He married Fannie Jane McCulloch in Texas on January 25, 1891. Fannie was born in Morgan County Alabama on April 16, 1874. She was a daughter of William Harve McCulloch and Margaret Lou Linton. He will die June 7, 1947 and Fannie will die on March 26, 1939. Southern Putmans of course. Alvis was born February 15, 1903 and died April 17, 1971. He married Eula Leona Moseley on March 11, 1949. She was born November 22, 1911 and will die July 9, 2006 in Midland, Texas. Lois was born December 13, 1908 and died November 23, 1967. She married William Alexander Key on December 22, 1935.  Cecil was born June 21, 1911. He married Virgie Rene Raley on December 22, 1934 and they had two daughters, Patsy and Peggy Putman. Virgie was born September 23, 1919, and died on January 24, 1976. Cecil married Celestine Prendergrass Lanier on November 6, 1976. She was born November 5, 1910 and died in October 1996. He died January 12, 1994. The daughter Peggy Jane Putman Cannon, is the one who supplied the information on this section. Thanks, Peggy.

 

JUNUS PUTMAN  Precinct 5, Navarro County

He is Lon Junus Putnam 14 TX SC SC and living with his remarried mother Elmo Minola Mallard 34 SC SC SC who has married Paul Edward Goodman 47 TX. His mom Elmo was married to Lon Flemon Putnam in Hill County Texas December 20, 1914. Lon Junus was born October 7, 1915 and they were somewhere in Texas in 1920, but the state had horrible handwriting census takers. She is still remarried and has Lon here in 1940. Then he is married and in Denver in 1950. He will be around there the rest of his life and die in Jefferson County Colorado May 2, 1998. His dad Lonnie Flemon Putnam was a son of James Winston Putman and Mary Elizabeth Lindsey and was born in Hill County Texas November 5, 1890 and married Willie Myrtle Adams in Johnson County Texas May 3, 1912. Didn’t work out so he married Eleanor Minola Mallard in Hill County Texas December 20, 1914. The son Lon was born about 9 months later on October 7, 1915. James Winston was a son of Martin Putman and Mahulda Dorches from South Carolina.

 

LEE E. (EDGAR) PUTNAM  Precinct 5, Navarro County

He is 36 TX TN AL and a farmer. His wife Eva Clark is 32 TX and they have Oleta 13 TX, Imogene 11 TX, Clark 10 TX, Wendell 7 TX and Margaret 5 TX. Edgar Lee Putman was born January 17, 1894 and died April 16, 1962. He is a son of John Anderson Putman and Fannie Jane McCulloch. He married Eva Clark on December 22, 1915. She was born November 3, 1897 and died August 2, 1980. The son Wendell was born April 26, 1922 and will die in Purdon, Texas on January 7, 1989. Southern Putmans from Tennessee and Rutherford County North Carolina before that.

 

OTIS L. (LEE) & AUDIE T. (TAFT) PUTMAN  Precinct 5, Navarro County

Otis is 23 TX TN AL and his brother Audie is 21 TX TN AL. They are the two youngest sons of William Hennis Putman and Lou Ellen McCulloch from here. Audie was born March 14, 1919 and will die in Fort Worth in January 1983.

 

RUFUS J. (JAMES) PUTMAN  Precinct 5, Navarro County

He is 30 TX TN AL and rents a farm. His wife Mary Jewell Lewis is 28 TX and they have a son Y. M. 4 TX and John C. 6/12 TX. He is a son of John Anderson Putman and Fannie Jane McCulloch and was born here born December 21, 1899 and will die here January 31, 1982. He married Mary Jewell Lewis on December 21, 1921. She was born May 20, 1902 and will die August 2, 1973. After she dies he will marry Mary Lee Trantam. Southern Putmans from North Carolina to Tennessee then out here.

 

JESSE D. (DEAN) PUTMAN  Precinct 8, Navarro County

He is 26 TX TN AL and is working his dad’s farm I guess. His wife Rosie Morgan is 22 TN and they have Willie G. 1 TX. They live next to or probably with his folks William Hennis Putman and Lou Ellen McCulloch.

 

WILL H. (HENNIS) PUTMAN  Precinct 8, Navarro County

He is 61 TN AL GA and retired. His wife Lou Ellen McCullough is 52 AL. His widowed mother Susie 83 GA is still with them. He is a son of Charles Anderson Putman and Susan Elizabeth James from Morgan County Alabama. Anderson died here in Texas June 5, 1912. Susie will die here March 12, 1938 at age 91. Will was born in Tennessee May 16, 1868 and died in Lynn County Texas May 15, 1949. Lou Ellen was born April 5, 1877 and died February 7, 1969.

 

GERTRUDE & ANN PUTNAM  Precinct 1, Parker County

They are in a K of P House. Gertrude is listed as an inmate 48 TX and widowed. She is listed separately from the ‘regular’ inmates and is listed also as a matron. Think she is a live in employee like her daughter. Her daughter Ann is a teacher there age 22 TX AL TX. They were together in Tarrant County in 1920 and I can’t find them in 1910. Her husband was from Alabama and probably related to the families from Jackson County Alabama who were also there in 1920.

 

CHARLES A. (ARTHUR) PUTNAM  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 33 IA IA IA and his wife of a year Zelda DeGrange is 26 KS. He is a stenographer in a lumberyard. I don’t find him anywhere in 1920. He is the son of Frank S. and Prudence Putnam from Winneshiek County Iowa. He was born there in 1894 and was with the family there in 1900 and 1910.

 

EDDIE B. PUTMAN  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 26 TX GA AL and a switchman for the steam railroad. His wife of one year Loraine Thackery is 18 NM. They live with her folks Hugh and Margaret Thackery. He is a son of Elias B. Putman and Lena Smith from Cooke County. His widowed mother is here in town now too with the rest of the kids. Southern Putman family from South Carolina and then Georgia and then here.

 

EDGAR F. (FRANKLIN) PUTMAN  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 24 OK IN TX and single. His widowed mother Nola Carpenter 56 TX is with him. He is a son of Ernest Franklin Putman from Indiana. They were in the Chickasaw Nation Oklahoma in 1900, in Jackson County Oklahoma in 1910, and in Torrance County New Mexico in 1920. His grand parents John Warren Putnam and Mary Rogers were in Archer County Texas in 1880 and Wise County in 1900. John was from New York State. He was a son of Norman Putnam and his first wife Sally Shepard from Ontario County New York. They were in Marshall County Indiana 1870 and in Stark County Indiana in 1860 and Texas by 1880. He will soon marry Elsie Mae Luttrell in 1931. According to his tombstone here in Amarillo, he was born in El Dorado, Oklahoma June 12, 1906 and died in Amarillo Friday March 10, 2000. Elsie was born October 9, 1912 and died June 6, 1965. They are both buried in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo as is his dad Ernest Franklin who died January 10, 1927.

 

EDGAR T. (THOMAS) PUTNAM  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 37 KY KY KY and a cable man for the phone company. His wife Rena is 30 TX. He is a son of Ezekiel Rice Putman and Sarah Shelton from Muhlenberg County Kentucky. Ezekiel was a son of Jesse Miles Putman. Southern Line. Edgar was born September 17, 1891. He was single here in 1920. He married Rena here in 1923. Rena was born March 23, 1899 and will die here in January 1974. Edgar will die here on his birthday September 17, 1979.

 

JAMES B. (BAILEY) PUTMAN  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 25 TX TX MO. His wife Lucille Liedtke is 21 TX. They were just married. His widowed mother Lena G. 50 AL is with him as are his brothers Haskel B. 21 TX and Byron C. 14 TX. He is a son of Elias B. Putman and Lena G. Smith. They have been in Cooke County up till now. His dad was a son of Elias and Faith Putman from Floyd County Georgia. The son Haskel will marry Maud Williamson. Southern Putmans from South Carolina and Virginia before that.

 

RUTH PUTNAM  Amarillo, Potter County

She is 19 OK MO MO and a telephone operator. She is living with her married sister Viola F. 22 MO and husband M. B. Cox 22 OK. They are daughters of Joseph Martin Putnam from Pittsburg County Oklahoma and Callaway County Missouri before that. This is the family from Guilford County North Carolina who were originally Quakers who came to Virginia in the mid 1700s.

 

MILDRED PUTMAN  Clarksville, Red River County

She is 1 TX TX TX and is listed as a niece of Wilmer and Verna Storey. She is also listed here with her widowed dad Fred Bishop Putman. His wife Mary Corbell died in 1924, so lil ole Millie got born by one of Fred’s overnighters.

 

BENJAMIN F. (FRANKLIN) PUTMAN  Precinct 7, Red River County

He is 49 MO TN MO. His wife Josie is 48 TX and they have George W. who is 29 TX and widowed. He is a son of George Washington Putman and Sarah Susan Harmon and was shown at 3 months old in Lynn, Oregon County Missouri in the 1880 census. He was born in Lynn, Missouri February 14, 1879. Wonder if he was a Valentine’s Day present. He will marry Sarah Ellis in Fulton County Arkansas in 1897 and they were here in the 1900 and in Fulton County Arkansas in 1910. He was drafted in Truman, Arkansas September 12, 1918. He will die in Truman, Poinsett County Arkansas July 24, 1939.

He is 40 AR AR AR and now widowed as his wife Mary Corbell died here October 21, 1924. He has Esther 19 AR, Fred B. Jr. 16 AR, Caton (Joseph in 1920) 14 TX, Leon 11 TX and Mildred J. 1 TX. He is a son of Josiah and Mollie Putman from Howard County (1900) and Sevier County (1910), Arkansas. They were all here in 1920. The son Joseph Caton will marry Eva Lucille Gist. Fred will shortly marry Rubie Brewer and they will have a son Joel Brewer Putman on September 18, 1931. Fred will then die in Wichita February 18, 1936.

                                          

W. E. (WILLIE EDWIN) PUTMAN  Miles, Runnels County

He is 44 TX IL TX and a delivery man for a gasoline company. His wife Iva Elizabeth Munden is 42 TX and they have Ruth Inez 22 TX, Clyde 20 TX and Munden (William Munden) 5 TX. He is a son of Charles Waufine Putman and the father of the Reverend William Munden Putman of Houston, a great researcher on our family. They were in Ellis County up till now. Southern Putmans out of Virginia to Kentucky to Illinois.

 

OSBORNE W. (WOOD) PUTMAN  Henderson, Rusk County

He is 51 TX GA GA a son of John Osborne Putman and Mary Pitner from here and from Murray County Georgia before that. He finally got married three years ago. His wife Sarah Caigle is 48 TX and they have a daughter Mary 1 TX. Sarah was married before and has a son L. B. Burns 16 TX and Doris Burns 7 TX. Southern family descended from Elias Putman of North Carolina.

 

ANDERSON H. (HARVE) PUTMAN  Pirtle, Rusk County

John Osborne Putman’s son is still around. He is 54 TX GA TX and his wife Jessie M. is 48 TX. They have been married 26 years now and have Mary E. 21 TX, Anna L. 19 TX, Johnnie a daughter 15 TX, Anderson H. 12 TX and William R. 10 TX. He was born February 12, 1875 and will die March 9, 1966. Jessie was born November 6, 1881 and will die here February 11, 1956. They were married in 1903. The son Anderson Harve was born in 1917 and will die here in 1970. He will marry an Ina here November 16, 1941.

 

MARTHA A. PUTNAM  Aransas Pass, San Patricio County

She is now 87 OH and widowed. She is Martha Shaffer who was married to Elmer Putnam. They were here in 1910 and overlooked in 1920 so I don’t know when he died. Elmer was is number 3419, a son of Jonas Putnam (1696) and Sally Ward. He was born in Augusta, Iowa September 28, 1843. He married Martha Shaffer October 19, 1881 in Sheldon, Barton County Missouri. New England folks out of Massachusetts.

 

CORA PUTMAN  Eldorado, Schleicher County

She is 59 TX and still a widow. She has Clarence 33 TX, Lodise (Lois) 29 TX and Annise 20 TX. Cora Johnson was married to Rufus Putman here in 1910 and was widowed in Bexar County in 1920. Rufus was a son of William Putman and Adeline Gipson from Gonzales County. Clarence was born August 24, 1896 and died in San Angelo in July 1972.

 

KIRKSEY N. (NEWTON) PUTMAN  Tyler, Smith County

He is 39 TX OK TN (TX AL TN is right) and works in a railroad yard. His wife Myrtle is 34 MO. He is a son of Wesley B. Putman and Sarah Ann Chatman from Navarro County. He was there in 1910 and here married in 1920. Southern Putmans from North Carolina then Alabama.

 

WALTER E. (EDGAR) PUTNAM  Tulia, Swisher County

He is 73 MA MA MA (NY) and owns a farm. His wife Mary M. McLeod is 73 NY. He is a son of William Pitt Putnam and Minerva Harris from Douglas, Mass. He was in Champaign County Illinois in 1880 out in Oregon and then back in Ogden Illinois in 1900 with Mary and the kids. They were here from 1910 on. He will die here March 20, 1936. New England family.

 

IONE PUTMAN  Arlington, Tarrant County

She is 23 TX TN TX and listed as a niece living with Newton and Victoria Lyon, both 48 TN. She is a school teacher and a daughter of Rufus Estell Putman and Jessie May Bilson. She is also listed as a teacher boarding in Taylor County Texas. Ione Inez Putman was born in Arlington March 11, 1906 and will die here April 4, 1978. She will marry Henry Ephriam Bucher Jr. in Young, Texas September 29, 1930 and be right back here with him in 1940.

 

JOE B. (JOSEPH BARNET) PUTMAN  Arlington, Tarrant County

He is still around and is now 76 AL. He says he is married but he hasn’t been shown with a wife since Margaret Flanagan died here in 1899. He is a son of John B. and Rosanna Putman from Jackson County Alabama. He has been here since the 1900 with the kids, but no wife. He was married a second time to Ellen Adams. She died in Tucson Arizona in 1936. Her death certificate states she was divorced from Joseph Barnett Putman. Doesn’t say when though. Joe will die here December 13, 1933. Southern Putmans from North Carolina then Alabama.

 

RICHARD P. (POSEY) PUTMAN  Arlington, Tarrant County

He is 58 AL AL AL. His wife Mabel O. Duckett is 53 AL. Her mother Jessie Duckett 74 MS is with them. He is a son of Morris Putman and Elizabeth Williamson from Jackson County Alabama. The family came out here to Arlington in the 1870s and his mom was widowed by 1900. He married Myrtle about 1912 and they were in Colorado Springs Colorado in 1920.  He was born in 1871 and will die here in 1946. Mabel was born in 1876 and will die here in 1965. BERTHA M. PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 38 TX TX TX single and boarding. She is a public school teacher. She is a daughter of Monroe Putman and Lula Belle Wallace and was in Cherokee County in 1900.

 

EARL PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 28 MS LA MS and his wife Esther Tripp is 27 TX. His widowed mother Clinie 55 MS is with him. Carrie Clinie Crecelius is the widow of Albert Obedia Putman from Scott County Mississippi. He died in about 1907 and she brought the family over into Texas afterwards. They were in Johnson County in 1920. I got Esther’s last name as her brother William Tripp 25 TX is here as well. Earl was born back there March 13, 1901 and will die here soon on April 2, 1932. Esther will be with her widowed father in Hillsboro in 1940. Clinie will be around till February 24, 1954. EGBERT PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

Egbert Myron Putman is 58 MI NY NY and out of work. He has a new wife Lillie M. 40 TX. He was married to Eudora Long here before. Lillie was also married before and has 4 Mueller children from that marriage. He is a son of John Cornelius Putman and his second wife, Nancy Halstead, and was born in Brandon, Muskegon County Michigan. The family went to Oklahoma in the land rush. John died there in 1906, and Egbert headed down here. This is a Dutch family from Montgomery County New York originally.

 

EVA M. (MAE) PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 25 MS MS MS. She is a daughter of Albert Obe Putman and Clinie Crecelius listed above with her brother Earl. She was born back in Scott County Mississippi April 29, 1904. She never married and will be here till she dies  November 12, 1945. Southern Putman family.

He is 49 AL AL AL and a housepainter. His second wife Nannie is 51 TX and they have her daughter Earline Gray 17 TX with them. He is George Washington Junior, a son of George and Dicy Sandlin. He was born in Blount County Alabama and was in Bosgue County in 1910. He was married to a Maggie in Johnson County in 1920.

 

GEORGE W. (WHARTON) PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 29 TX MO TX and is a sales manager for a bread company. His wife Frances Lanier is 29 TX. They have been married 5 years and have Jean F. 4 TX. They will have George Junior on September 12, 1930.  He looks to be the son of Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Putman. They were in Red River County Texas in 1900 and then in Fulton County Arkansas. George was born November 4, 1880 and will die here in Fort Worth in September 1967.

 

HUEY PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 20 TX TX TX and his wife Mary is 18 TX. They were just married and he is a clerk in a drug store. He is a son of George Hugh Putman and Mabel Booth and was born in Harris County. He was home with his folks in Walker County in 1920. His dad was born in Benton County Arkansas, a son of William James Putman and Martha Flouriday. Southern Putmans from South Carolina and then Tennessee.

 

JIM B. PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 36 OK IL KY and his wife Ollie Burns is 37 TX. They have Harold B. 17 TX, Bobby J. 5 TX and Eugene Marshall 2 TX. He is a son of Egbert Putman and Eudora Long from here in Fort Worth. The family came down from Michigan in the Oklahoma Land Rush and he was born in Jackson County there. The family came here to Fort Worth around 1903. His folks are still here in town. Dutch family originally from New York State. The son Harold will soon marry Iva Newby here.

 

LAURA V. PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 59 TX and widowed. She is living with her married daughter Mary 37 TX and husband Ernest Tucker 37 NH. She is Laura Caruthers now long divorced not widowed, and was married in Parker County to Charles Putman who moved to Oklahoma and got a new wife back in the early 1900s. Charles was from Green County Missouri and Georgia before that. Laura and Mary are in Weatherford, Parker County in 1940 and both say they are widowed. Southern Putmans out of North Carolina.

 

LEIGH MAE PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 37 TX and listed as a married daughter of Robert and Rollie Davis. She has a son Leigh B. 1 4/12 CO IL TX. A tad screwed up writing. The mom here in Winifred Davis and she married  Leigh Burtis Putnam and is also currently with him in Denver, Colorado and will be for a long long time.

 

LUTHER C. (CLAUDE) PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 29 MO OH VA and a superintendent of a mail order house. His wife Bessie Bishop is 28 KS MO KY and they have John Robert 2 TX. Also here is his mother Mary E. Putnam 58 VA VA VA. He is a son of Elmer Revere Putnam and Mary E. Woods from Kansas City, Kansas. Elmer is a son of Luther Charles Putman and Lucy Ann Ewell from Huron County Ohio and New York State before that. Dutch Family. Luther was there in 1920 still single. Right now his dad is up in Bethlehem, Albany County New York staying with his brother Kenneth and that family. Elmer will die in Kansas City, Missouri February 16, 1935. His wife Mary will survive him. At that time, the death certificate says he was living at the home of his son Luther. So the whole gang will be moving over there shortly. They are in Kansas City in 1935 and in 1940. Luther must have then come back here as OBITS has him being born December 16, 1899 and dying here in Fort Worth in May 1974.

 

MARTHA PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 63 TN and widowed. She is living with her married daughter Pearl McKay 43 TX TN TN and her husband John McKay 55 TX. She will die here May 13, 1931. Okay this is interesting. I found a family group sheet for John Henry McKay. He was born December 16, 1874 in Tarrant County and will die here in Fort Worth May 13, 1974. Martha Bell Renfro was married to Eugene Merton Putnam here in 1900, 1910 and 1920. He was a son of Charles Henry and Maria (Holly) Putnam who were here in 1880. His dad was born in Canada. Eugene was born June 8, 1867 in Broadhead, Green County Wisconsin. He married Martha 'Mattie' Belle Renfro here in Fort Worth on October 24, 1894.

 

MOLLIE PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 69 TX and still widowed. Her daughter Addie Benning 43 TX and widowed and Addie’s daughter Mildred 22 TX are with her as they all were in 1920. Mollie Self is the widow of Glen Elijah Putman. They were in Parker County. Mollie will die in Dallas August 27, 1935. Elijah was a son of William and Martha Putman and was born in DeKalb County Alabama. William was a son of Ezekiel Putnam of Georgia and Alabama. Southern Putman family.

 

NANNIE PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 73 TN and widowed as she has been since the late 1800s. Her daughter Stella P. Brown 40 TX and husband Rudolph Brown 40 TX are with her. Nancy Jane Neal is the widow of Joe Worth Putman from here. According to her tombstone in Halton, Tarrant County Texas, Nannie was born December 19, 1856 and died January 25, 1932. She is 29 OK OK OK and single. She is an operator at a radio station. Can’t find her in Oklahoma though. She was here with a Frances Putnam from Georgia in 1910.

 

ROBERT D. (DONALD) PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 55 AL AL AL and manages a meat market. His wife Katie Ramsey is 46 TX and they have John C. 26 TX (married and divorced since 1920), and Elizabeth A. 23 TX. His brothers William M. 65 AL and Fred A. 58 AL are living here as they have for years. They are all sons of John and Frances Putman from Jackson County Alabama. The family has been here in Fort Worth since the late 1800s. Robert was born April 15, 1874 in Princeton, Alabama and will die here August 1, 1956. Kate was born here in Texas April 21, 1883 and will die here in Fort Worth June 30, 1965.

 

ROY B. PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 25 OK TX TX and his wife Velma Ray is 26 TX. They have been married 3 years and have Patricia 2 TX. He is a son of George Washington and Maggie Putman. He was born in Oklahoma July 20, 1903 and will die in Fort Worth in August 1978. They were in Bosque County in 1910 and Johnson County in 1920. Roy is a molder in an iron foundry. Southern Putmans out of Blount County Alabama and Laurens County South Carolina before that.

 

THOMAS R. (RUSSELL) PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 32 KY KY KY and a salesman in a clothing store. His wife Amanda Bertha Kreitemeyer is 26 IN and they have Dorothy L. 7 IL. He was married to her sister Irma Helene Kreitemeyer died in childbirth of the daughter Dorothy December 31, 1922. He married Amanda in Chicago February 26, 1928. He is a son of Charles Monroe Putman and Susan Wallingford from Fleming and then Campbell County Kentucky. He was born in Fleming County July 27, 1897 and will die in Longview, Gregg County Texas February 28, 1979. They are all in Longview in 1935 and 1940. Thomas will be about the first serious genealogist on the Southern Putman line and put out a family genealogy book in the 1950s. I have a copy of that book and he did a really great job long before computers. In those days you wrote to relatives and asked them to give you information and to steer you to others and then you repeated and repeated and eventually got one heck of a lot. Mostly handwritten info. I have whole file cabinets full of stuff like that. Now you just look up on Ancestry or Family Search and get all that and tons more.

He is 31 IL IL IL and is a manager of show horses. He has been married 4 years to Edith Leona Marshall 22 IL and they have Emma Lou 3 IL. He is a son of George Allen Putman and Nellie Kees from Mt. Sterling, Brown County Illinois. He was born there May 2, 1898 and was there with his widowed mother in 1920. Southern Putmans from Kentucky and Virginia before that.

He is 50 IA US US and runs a grocery store. His wife Rose Groves is 45 AR and they have Margaret 14 MO. He is the son of Charles and Julia Putnam as shown in Cass County Michigan in 1880 and 1900 in Harrison County Iowa. They were here in 1920. He was born December 25, 1879 and will die here in Fort Worth December 30, 1968. Rose was born December 23, 1884 and will die here April 15, 1970.

 

CHARLIE H. (HENRY) PUTNAM  Precinct 1, Tarrant County

He is 49 TX US US and a dairyman. He has been married 2 years to Ina Barksdale 29 TX. She was married before and has a son Carl A. Read 3 TX. Also here is her brother Carl Barksdale 27 TX. He is a son of Charles Henry Putnam and Maria Adeline Holly who were here in 1880. Mariah and he were here in 1900 through 1920. Charlie was never married before this. Charles Senior was a son of John W. Putnam and Minerva Scott. He was born in Ontario, then moved with the family to Winnebago County Illinois and then to Green County Wisconsin and then he came down here. Family was descended from Tarrant Putnam of Sutton, Mass. New England Putnam line.

 

JOHN J. (JACOB) PUTMAN  Precinct 1, Tarrant County

He is 54 WI VA VT and is a farmer. His wife Lillian Catherine Reid is 44 TN and they have Catherine 14 TX. Also here are his brother William Clay 53 TX and his widowed mother Julia D. Moore 84 VT. He is a son of John Jacob Putman Jr. from Wisconsin. The family came here to Tarrant County in the 1870s and Julia was widowed by the 1900. They have been here ever since. He will die here May 7, 1931. German family from Hampshire County Virginia.

He is 48 NY US US and a house carpenter. His wife Ollie is 44 MO and she has a son George Heller 22 MO.

He is 26 TX TX TX (should be 24) single, boarding and is an auto mechanic. He is a son of Thomas C. Putman and Carrie Bartlett from here. His dad is a son of Abraham Pinckney Putman from Georgia. Southern Putmans.

He is 25 TX GA TN and a farmer. His wife Vera Mae Canell is 27 TX. They have been married 6 years and have daughters Cornelia 3 TX and Mildred 3/12 TX. They live right next to his folks Thomas and Carrie Putman.

 

THOMAS C. (COLUMBUS) PUTMAN  Precinct 7, Taylor County

He is 69 GA SC GA and owns a farm. His wife Carrie Bartlett is 61 TN and Oren 20 TX and Eueda 10 TX are still at home. He is a son of Abraham Pinkney and Mary Ann Putman from Georgia. They have been here since the early 1900s. Southern Putman family. He was born in Forest Mills, Cherokee County Georgia September 14, 1860. He married Carrie Johnson Bartlett on June 13, 1886. She was born February 12, 1869 in Sparta, White County Tennessee and will die in Potosi, Taylor County July 14, 1952. T.C. will die in Taylor County December 22, 1934.

 

JOSEPH C. (CARROLL) PUTNAM  Precinct 2, Throckmorton County

He is 42 TX TX TX single and a rancher. He is a son of Joseph Barnet Putman and Julia McGinnis from Caldwell County. He has been there up till now and never married. His folks had moved here to Throckmorton in 1907 though. His mom is listed next. Southern Putman family out of Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

JENNIE M. PUTNAM  Throckmorton, Throckmorton County

She is 59 TX and widowed. Jennie is Virginia Smith the second wife and now widow of Joseph Barnet Putman. Joseph died here August 19, 1924. Julia will be in Lockhart Texas in 1940 and be around until she dies in Lockhart December 30, 1958 just missing out on a New Year’s Eve party. Her son Joseph is nearby on a ranch.

 

WILLIAM E. PUTNAM  San Angelo, Tom Green County

He is 66 MI OH OH (should be MI IN IN) and still is an engineer with the railroad. His wife Emie is 60 IN. He is a son of Charles Putnam and Sarah Lancaster from Clay County Kansas. Charles was a son of Newton Putnam from Vermont, and was in Wells County Indiana in 1850, where he was born. The family was in Richardson County Nebraska in 1870, and Clay County in 1880. He and Emma have been in Topeka Kansas in 1885 through 1910. They were here in 1920.

She is 22 TX TX TX and single. She is a practical nurse here. She is a daughter of Willie Edwin Putman and Iva Munden from Ellis County. Southern Putmans from Kentucky.

 

CARL PUTNAM  Austin, Travis County

He is 35 TX OH SWITZ and married now. His wife Ada Stiles is 35 TX TX TX and they have a son Carl 9 TX TX TX. I don’t find him in 1920, but they say they have been married 11 years now. He first pops up in 1900 here in Austin with his brother Roger. They were sons of Thomas Putman and Jeanette Rosenthaler from here. Tom was widowed in 1900 and the two kids were living with a Singleton family and by 1910 had been adopted by a Hissner family. Thomas was a son (I am pretty sure) of Isiah and Eliza Putnam from England. They were in Richland County Ohio in 1860 just before Tom was born and I don’t find them again. Tom then just popped up here in the 1900 census. He was alone here through the 1920 till he died July 24, 1922. Carl will accidently shoot himself at home and die on June 19, 1932.

 

JOHNIE A. PUTNAM  Austin, Travis County

She is 63 MS and widowed. She lives with her married daughter Nellie O. Martinson 28 TX and husband Enoch Martinson 37 TX. Jonnie or Johnie Arabella Hudson was married to John Owen Putman here in 1900 and 1910. He was a son of William Jeremiah Putman from Scott County Mississippi. He died in Williamson County in 1918. Johnnie will die in Austin, Texas January 7, 1943. Southern Putmans.

She is 45 TX and widowed. She is a patient in the Austin State Hospital. Rosetta Spears is the widow of Thomas Putman from Cooke County. They were there though 1910 and she was widowed there in 1920. She is still here in 1940. Southern Putman family from Georgia.

She is 25 TX MS MS and divorced. She is a nurse at the Austin State Hospital.

 

WALTER PUTNAM  Precinct 4, Upton County

He is written sloppy as Will E. but is Walter Putnam. He is 24 MA MA MA and a foreman on a pipeline. His wife Arva Dura Kaelin is 24 TX and they have been married 3 years. He is a son of Frank Arthur Putnam and Mary Agatha Thrower from Ohio and then Iowa. Frank was a son of Oscar Allen Putnam and Cassandra McElory. Cassie was married to a Cushman in Black Hawk County Iowa and Frank was only a year old. Walter was born November 29, 1905 in Milton, Massachusetts and will die in Midland, Texas June 15, 1987. Arva is a daughter of Albert Jackson Kaelin and Julia Mary Fritsche and was born in Houston November 3, 1906 and will die in Midland October 4, 1899. Still trying to find out who Oscar was and who his folks were. They are here in 1940.

 

G. B. (GROVER BENTON) PUTMAN  Precinct 3, Van Zandt County

He is 23 TX GA GA, his wife Leota Moore is 20 TX and they have Rudolph 2 TX. He is a son of John Forney Putman from Kaufman County Texas and Marion County Alabama before that. He was here with his brother John in 1920. He was born August 27, 1907 and will die in Midland, Texas March 30, 1992. Leota was born February 2, 1910 and will die in Midland July 30, 1958. Southern Putmans.

 

ELBERT E. (ECHOLS) PUTNAM  Precinct 5, Waller County

He is 29 FL FL GA. He is listed on his stillborn son’s death certificate of May 21, 1930 here in Waller County as Elbert E. and his wife Evelyn Tuck born in Texas. He is the son of Lee Hiram Putnam and Ella Paola Everett and was at home in Montgomery County Texas in 1910 and 1920. According to his death Certificate in Kendal County Texas June 14, 1976. He was born in Chipley, Florida April 27, 1901. He was divorced at that time. They are in Corpus Christi in 1940.Southern Putman family out of Georgia.

 

LLYOD S. (SEDRICK) PUTNAM  Monahans, Ward County

He is 24 TX TX TX single and boarding. He is a salesman at a drug store. He is a son of William Henry Putman and Doris Melvina ‘Dolly’ Fox and was born in Lubbock, Texas January 6, 1905. Souther Putmans from Tennessee.

Simeon Mercer is now 75 TX TX TX and his wife Adeline Victoria Stone is 69 TX. They still have Beulah 29 TX and John D. 27 TX at home. He is a son of Madison DeKalb Putman and Catherine Davidson. He was born in Llano County December 15, 1854. He married Adeline Victoria Stone on October 15, 1877. He will die here in Laredo May 23, 1936. Adeline will hang in till December 26, 1952. CHARLES D. (DEWITT) PUTNAM  Precinct 7, Wharton County

He is 48 MO IL MS and a rice farmer. His wife Linney Cochran is 47 MO and they have Benjamin 14 TX. His widowed dad DeWitt Clinton Putman 85 IL NY NY is with them. This family was in the Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma in 1900 and in Vernon County Missouri in 1880. They were all here in Wharton County in 1910 and overlooked but probably here in 1920. DeWitt is a son of Levi and Charlotte Putman, and was born in Grundy County Illinois. His grandparents are Philip Putman and Lucretia Noble from Jefferson County New York. His brother James lives a couple of farms away. DeWitt will die here December 30, 1932. Dutch family out of New York.

 

JAMES B. (BOYD) PUTNAM  Precinct 7, Wharton County

He is 46 AR NY KY and owns a rice farm. His wife Grace is 43 TX and they have Ruby 15 TX and Katherine 8 TX. He is another son of DeWitt and Maggie Putman. He lives about a mile away from his brother Charles. Grace was born March 17, 1887 and will die in El Campo in December of 1978.

 

CHESTER P. & BARNEY PUTMAN  Shamrock, Wheeler County

He is 18 TX AL TX and his brother Barney is 14 TX AL TX. They live with their widowed mother Ola Clark 36 TX. Ola Belle Walker was married to a Clark after Howard Putman as she has three kids named Clark ages 9 and 11 born in Oklahoma. Then to make it more confusing there are lines drawn through the two Putman last names indicating the recorded though they were Clarks or something. She was married to Howard in Kaufman County in 1910 and she then was in Oklahoma with a Clark in 1920. Chester will marry Opal Henderson in a year or two. He was born February 12, 1912 and will die here in Shamrock September 2, 1991. Opal was born November 25, 1914 and will die here February 3, 1997.

 

DONALD PUTMAN  Precinct 2, Wichita County

He is 10 TX AL OK and a grandson of Edward and Beulah Dickens.

 

B. (BENJAMIN) FRANKLIN PUTNAM  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 36 TX AL AL and his wife Louise 22 TX. He is a foreman in an oil refinery. He is a son of James Winston Putman from Kaufman County Texas. He was married to Minnie Robertson in Tillman County Oklahoma in 1920. Louise would be a new wife.  Benjamin will die in Longview, Gregg County Texas on December 17, 1933 and Louise is by herself in Dallas. Southern Putmans.

 

CHARLES PUTMAN  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 35 TX GA TX and widowed with his son Clyde 10 OK. They were in Jefferson County Oklahoma in 1920 and his wife was Thelma Echols. He is a son of George Washington Putman and Mary Jane Cole from Jackson County Alabama and then Collin County Texas. His folks are still over in Jefferson County Oklahoma now and will be the rest of their lives. Southern Putmans.

 

HARVEY O. (ODIS) PUTMAN  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 22 OK AL TX and his wife Mabel Shackelford is 21 OK. Her brother Clarence 20 OK is with them. They are all living with his brother Willie and that family. See that entry coming up. Southern Putmans.

 

HENRY R. PUTNAM  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 68 WI NY NY. His wife Henrietta Cowden is 60 OH. He looks like the son of Harrison and Christine Putnam from Winnebago County Wisconsin. They were here in 1920 and in Curry County New Mexico in 1910.

 

JOSEPH W. PUTNAM  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 56 TX NC AL, his wife Bettie Jane Redin 52 TX and they have Gloria 17 TX, Ruth 13 TX. Also here is their daughter Vera 23 TX, her husband Robert Knight 23 TX and Robbie 3 TX. He is also listed in Odessa, Ector County now boarding, away on business I guess. They were here in 1920 and will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1940 without the kids. I am guessing he is the Joel Putnam who was a son of Willis Putnam and Susan Young born in McLennan County Texas February 22, 1874 and shown there in 1880. Also guess that Willis is his middle name. Joe says his dad born NC here, AL in 1920 and TN in the other 1930 listing. Willis was born in Georgia, but I think Joe or Joel took off when he was a kid and his dad died.

 

WILLIAM D. (DALTON) PUTMAN  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 27 TX TX TX and just married to his wife Frances Rogene Law 18 TX. He is a son of Charles William Putman and Alice Emily Strickland from Coleman County in 1910 and 1920. Charles was a son of William Jacob Putman Jr. from DeKalb County Alabama and Georgia before that. Southern Putmans.

 

WILLIE E. (EDWARD) PUTMAN  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 28 TX AL TX and his wife Ola E. Reeves is 29 OK. Willie was born in Texas September 26, 1901, and will die April 26, 1975. He married Ola E. Reeves in 1929. She was born November 11, 1900 and will die in Madill, Oklahoma in October 1985. They have George M. 6 OK, and Charlie D. 1 TX. His brother Harvey listed earlier is with him. They are sons of George Washington Putman and Mary Jane Cole. Willie was born in Denton County Texas, Harvey when the family moved to Jefferson County Oklahoma. Their dad was a son of Wilson Putman and Elizabeth Wilson from Jackson County Alabama. The son George Monroe was born December 16, 1923 and will die in Madill, Marshall County Oklahoma June 25, 2001. He will marry Stella Tyner here October 24, 1942. Stella was born on July 11, 1922 and will die in Madill, Oklahoma on July 31, 2004.  They are back in Marshall County Oklahoma by 1940. J. P. (JAMES PLEDGER) PUTNAM  Vernon, Wilbarger County

He is 33 TX US US and an oil field worker. His wife Lura Frances Wilkerson is 34 TX and they have James P. Junior 2 TX and Joan 1 TX. He is a son of Joseph Barnet Putman and his first wife Julia McGinnis from Caldwell and then Throckmorton County Texas. He was born September 18, 1897 and married Lura April 23, 1926. He will return to Throckmorton and be a rancher there until he dies June 15, 1966. Southern Putmans out of Georgia and South Carolina and then Virginia. The son James Pledger was born November 29, 1927 in Girard, Texas and will die in Kerrville, Texas October 30, 2011. He married Joy Hickman (his second wife) and managed the Dairy Queen there from the 1970s till he retired.

 

MARY PUTMAN  Vernon, Wilbarger County

She is 57 TX TX TX and widowed.

 

NELLIE E. PUTMAN  Alvord, Wise County

She is 47 AR and widowed. Nellie Esther Magers was married to John Thomas Putman who just died February 21, 1930. They were here in 1910 and 1920. She still has Henry Harmon 17 TX, Arden Roy 13 TX, Anita Joe 9 TX, and a daughter Tommie Lou 6 TX. She will be here till she dies in March of 1842. Her husband was a son of Thomas Putman from Bartow County Georgia. Southern Putman Family.

 

EDWARD PUTMAN  Bridgeport, Wise County

He is 35 OK AR MS and a clergyman for the Assembly of God. His wife Frances Mae Pribble is 33 IN and they have Miron (that is the way it is spelled even on his gravestone in Tarrant County in 1999) 14 TX, Virginia 12 TX, Mary 9 TX and Earl 3 TX. They were in Fort Worth, Tarrant County in 1920. The birthplaces of the folks are wrong, but he should be the son of Egbert Putman and Eudora Long from Michigan then Greer County Oklahoma and then here. If so this is a Dutch family out of New York State. The son Miron was born September 30, 1915 and will die in Tarrant County January 5, 1999. He will marry Lola Mae Parnell August 29, 1930. She was born August 29, 1919 and will die also in Tarrant County May 15, 1985.

 

ORLIE PUTMAN  Graham, Young County

He is Reuben Orlis Putman 32 TX US US and now married 7 years to Martha Massey 32 TX. She has a son by an earlier marriage, John 10 TX who now has the Putman name. He is a son of Elias Putman and Maud Kedney from here and Georgia before that. He was here in 1920 living with his grandmother Elizabeth Kedney. Reuben will die here March 25, 1945 and Martha in Fort Worth on March 30, 1963. Southern Putman line.
