TEXAS 1940 CENSUS

 

WILL PUTMAN  Frankston, Anderson County

He is 72 AR, his wife Theresa May Curran 57 TX and their son Robert Lee 27 TX is still at home. He is a retired railroad worker. William Henry Putman is a son of William Lester Putman and Charlotte Mabry from Benton County Arkansas. He was in Kaufman County in 1900. They were here in 1910 and 1920 and in Henderson County in 1930 and 1935. Southern Putmans.

 

A. D. (ANSIL DOWEL) PUTNAM  Clawson, Angelina County

He is 26 TX, his wife Hadress Modell Seymore is 20 TX and they have John W. 3 TX and Ethel E. 1 TX. He works at the local lumber mill. He is a son of William Ernest Putnam and Minnie Smith from here. He was born June 9, 1913 and will die in Lufkin, Angelina County in October 1966. Modell is a daughter of John Seymore and Viola Stanley and was born December 24, 1919 and will die in Lufkin. July 19, 1994. They will have 12 kids. Family is out of Maine.

 

W. E. (WILLIAM ERNEST) PUTNAM  Clawson, Angelina County

He is 50 MS ME KY and is a farmer. His wife Minnie Stewart is 46 LA. They now have twins Ernestine Faye and Ernest Ray 16 TX, Donald 14 TX, Mary L. 9 TX and William T. 7 TX. He is a son of Ansil Smith Putnam and Rose Ellen Bishop from here. He was born in Vicksburg Mississippi, and then was here with his folks in 1900, and married here in 1920 and 1930. His dad was from Maine. Okay, found a lot of info on this family most of whom are buried in Aldridge Cemetery in Angelina County from the web site Find-A-Grave.com. William was born in 1889 and died in 1958. Minnie was born in 1893 and died in 1947. The son Ernest Ray was born January 19, 1924 and died November 4, 1989. William Taylor was born April 9, 1933 and married Aline A. on August 8, 1959. She was born July 24, 1930. William died in Lufkin December 6, 1989.

 

JAMES PUTMAN  Outside Huntington City, Angelina County

He is a Negro 40 TX and married.

 

AMBER H. (HARRIS) PUTNAM  Smithville, Bastrop County

She is 57 TX and widowed. She is living with her mother Mary Mathis 87 AR. She was married to Percy Lee Putnam in 1910 and wasnմ listed in 1920 and Percy died in 1923 in Temple Texas. She has been here in 1930 and now. Her son Tom Henry is married in Houston now. Percy was born March 12, 1880 in Mississippi and died in Temple, Texas May 29, 1923. Amber was here in 1930. She wonմ die till November 1962 in Austin, Texas living with her then married daughter Percy Lee. Yep name right and she is a girl this time around. Now, Rand Putnam found Percy Lee Putnam's death certificate. He was born in Mississippi March 12, 1883 and died May 29, 1923 in Temple, Bell County Texas. It has his father as H. S. Sales (born in LA) and Lue Gilford (born in LA). I have to assume that he was adopted by some Putnams. Canմ find earlier so no clues yet.

 

JENNIE PUTNAM  Temple, Bell County

She is 63 TX and lives with her married daughter Margaret Lee 45 TX and her husband John E. Roberts 49 TX. She is the widow of John Owen Putnam who died in Williamson County in 1918. John Owen Putman was a son of William Jeremiah Putman from Scott County Mississippi. They were in Williamson County in 1900 and in Travis County in 1910. They were all in Erath County in 1930.

 

HAROLD D. (DAVID) PUTMAN  Alamo Heights, Bexar County

He is 31 TX, his wife Elizabeth F. is 30 TX and Harold D. 1 TX. He is a lawyer with his own private practice. He is a son of Pompei Wellington Putman and Katherine Christian from St. Louis. Pomp was a son of David Alexander Putman and Fanny Childers of Dorsey County Arkansas and a grandson of Jesse Mercer Putman of Hall County Georgia. Southern Putmans.

 

MAX D. PUTNAM  Camp Bullis, Bexar County

He is 24 NC single and a soldier. He is from Shelby, Cleveland County North Carolina. He is a son of William Alexander Putnam and Evie Linda Hughes from Shelby. He was born there June 15, 1915. The family was down in Cherokee, Spartanburg County South Carolina in 1920 and he was back in Cleveland County in 1930 and 1935. Later this year he will marry Phyllis Wall in Utah. She is a daughter of James Earl Wall and Ethel Thomas and was born in Salt Lake Utah May 19, 1920 and was there up till now. He will serve in the Pacific in WWII. He will be released from the Army June 30, 1956 and will die in Ogden, Utah January 22, 2000. Phyllis will die in Ogden October 10, 1995. They are both buried in the military cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

 

CLARENCE W. (WILLIAM) PUTNAM  Hartsdale, Bexar County

He is 61 MO, his wife Olive Bradshaw is 57 KY and they have a niece Donna Vernon 14 OK with them. They were in Omaha, Nebraska in 1935. He is a son of David Thomas Putnam and Sarah Margaret Hensley and was born November 20, 1878 in Harrison County Missouri. His dad was a son of Ansel Delos Putnam and Mariah Hurst. Ansel’s folks were David and Mary Putnam from Madison County New York where he was born. David’s folks were George Putman and Mary Ferguson, Dutch family from Montgomery County New York. Anyway, Clarence enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1905. He married Olive November 28, 1908. They were in Fort Monroe in Virginia in 1920. He was a warrant officer stationed in Honolulu Hawaii in 1930. He will die in San Antonio May 22, 1954. Olive was born in Ashland, Kentucky in June 1882 and will also die in San Antonio in February 1973. Their son Stanley is in San Antonio now.

 

ROBERT PUTNAM  Hot Wells, Bexar County

He is 36 TX, his wife Marie 27 KS and there is a niece Roberta Jean Knight 14 TX. He was in Bernalillo County in 1935, Marie was here and Robbie was in Wichita Falls, so it’s a recent marriage. He is a typesetter for the newspaper. Best guess is that he is a son of Joel Putman and Betty Jane Redin from Wichita Falls and was there in 1920. Southern Putmans out of Georgia.

 

ALICE PUTMAN  Los Angeles Heights, Bexar County

She is 85 TX GA IA single and an aunt with Katie Moseley’s family. She is a daughter of William Putman and Adeline Gipson from Gonzales County. She was a nurse here in 1920. She was born April 6, 1854 and will die here October 27, 1940. She never married. Southern Putmans.

 

BARNEY M. PUTMAN  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 25 TX a soldier in the Army at Fort Sam Houston and currently in the Army infirmary there. In 1930 and 1935 he was in Wheeler County with his widowed mother Ola Bell Walker who had been married to Howard Putman in Kaufman County Texas. Howard was a son of John Fourney Putman and Nancy Maria Cox from Wood County and then Kaufman County. He died in 1923 and she married a Clark and is widowed again.

 

CARL (KARL) PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 61 IL, his wife Fanny Johnson is 55 IL and they have Ann 31 IL. He is a son of Samuel R. Putnam and Agatha Weinbach and was born in Mt. Carmel, Wabash County Illinois and has been there up through 1935. Line goes back through his dad to Chesterfield Putnam from there to Samuel Putnam and Relief Chafee from Columbia County New York to Howard Putnam and Hannah Green from Sutton, Massachusetts.

 

DANA PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 35 TX, his wife Evelyn Winkleman is 29 TX and they have Dana 10 TX and Robert 8 TX. Dana Franklin Putnam is a son of John Edward Putnam and Helen Beissner from here. In fact they are living with him, but Iլl give them a separate listing next. Dana is a bricklayer. He was born March 6, 1905 and will die in San Antonio in February 1982.

 

HOWARD C. (CLIFTON) PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 35 NC and a soldier at Fort Sam Houston. He is a son of Leroy Clifton Putnam and Pantha Jones from Cleveland County North Carolina. He was born there October 15, 1904 and will die in Tucson, Arizona March 13, 1991. Southern Putman line. Seems all the lines in North Carolina switched the name spelling back to Putnam after the Revolution when Generals Izzy and Rufus became famous.

 

JOHN PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 79 GA and his wife Helen Beissner 68 TX. He is a retired city policeman. He is a son of Dana Bordman Putnam and Huldah Jane Manley. His dad is from Maine, but was in Troup County Georgia in 1860 and that’s where John was born in February 1861. He will die here in San Antonio, but I donմ have a date. New Englanders.

 

JOHN E. (EDWARD) PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 45 TX US TX and a printer at an engraving company. His wife of 16 years Alice Emma Evans is 37 MS and they have John Edward 10 TX. He is a son of John Edward Putnam and Helen Beissner from here in San Antonio. He was born here in July 1895. His dad is a son of Dana Boardman Putnam and Huldah Manley from Maine, but was in Troup County Georgia in 1860 and that’s where he was born. New England family.

 

LINCOLN PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 47 NY, his wife Gertrude 40 VT and they have Jean L. 19 TX. He is a doctor in the U. S. Army and the whole family was at sea in 1935. He is a son of Frank L. and Marie Putnam from Houston. I donմ find him in 1930. His dad Frank was a son of Richard Putnam and Maria Philips from Rome, Oneida County New York. He was born there September 5, 1865 and died in Houston December 19, 1925. Frank owned Putnam Water Heater Company. They are a Dutch Putman family out of Montgomery County New York.

 

P. W. (POMPEI WELLINGTON) PUTMAN  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 65 AR GA GA and his wife Kate Christian is 59 TX DEN TX. He is a locomotive engineer. He is also listed in a hotel in Houston, finishing a train ride I guess. Pomp is a son of David Alexander Putman and Fanny Childers of Dorsey County Arkansas and a grandson of Jesse Mercer Putman of Hall County Georgia. Southern Putmans.

 

ROBERT L. (LEE) PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 19 TX single and a soldier at Fort Sam Houston. He is a son of Fred Wagner Putman and Cora Thompson and was born April 27, 1920 in Waco, McLennan County and will die in Huntsville, Walker County Texas May 6, 1958. He will marry Mary L. Hall after 1950 as she is presently married to Hardy Ashworth in Walker County and he will die in 1950. Southern Putman family North Carolina to Alabama to out here.

 

R. N. (ROBERT NELSON) PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 38 PA and his wife Nell Rose is 19 TN. He is a professor at the University of Texas. He is Robert Nelson Putnam, the son of Theodore Nelson Putnam and Anna Maude Hunt and was born Harmony Township, Susquehanna County Pennsylvania December 3, 1900 and was at home in Susquehanna Township in 1910 and 1920. Can’t find in 1930 but he is in Lakeland, Florida in 1935. Don’t have Nell’s last name but they are divorced in Lakeland, Polk County Florida in 1949 and he will sometime later marry Yvonne somebody. He will die in Lakeland, Polk Florida June 25, 1983 and Yvonne will die there in November 1984. New England Folks.

 

STANLEY PUTNAM  San Antonio, Bexar County

He is 28 KS, his wife Ruth 26 NE and they have Robert 4 NE. They were in Omaha, Nebraska in 1935. He is a son of Clarence William Putnam and Olive. Bradshaw. His folks are listed above in Hartsdale, Bexar County. His dad was an officer in the U.S. Army and Stan was kinda an Army Brat and moved all over even out to Hawaii with his folks and was there in 1930. Dutch Poutman family from New York State.

                                               

LAURA PUTMAN  Texarkana, Bowie County

She is 35 AR and widowed. She was in Carlsbad, New Mexico in 1935. She runs a rooming house. John Vilette Putman from Yell County Arkansas had a wife Virgia L. in 1920 in Arkansas and in 1930 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The age would be the same as this gal and if her middle initial stands for Laura, then that’s her. Neither was in Carlsbad in 1940 but two of their kids were. Best guess I have. Southern Putmans if I’m right.

 

CECIL PUTMAN  Texarkana, Bowie County

He is 26 TX and his wife Edith Pauline Moyers is 21 TX and they have Shirley Ann 4 TX and Kenneth Lee 2 TX. He drives a laundry truck. Ah yes, before home washing machines laundries used to pick up, wash and iron, put in a box and bring back. They were in Houston in 1935. He is Cecil Odell Putman a son of Mansil Julius Putman and Willie Frances Parslay and was born in Gonzales County January 5, 1914. He married Pauline about 1935. She was born September 25, 1917 and will die in Aurora, Colorado March 17, 1983. Cecil will die there December 18, 1980. Cecil’s dad was a son of John Putman and Sarah Jane McCausland. He was from Laurens County South Carolina a son of Reuben Putman. Southern Putmans.

 

TOM W. (WINSTON) PUTMAN  Pearland, Brazoria County

He is 25 TX LA LA and his wife Johanna is 28 NM. They have Kenneth 7 TX and Tom W. Junior 5 TX. He works in the oil fields. He is a son of James Henry and Lilly Putnam from Houston. Tom was single there in 1930.The family was in Vermillion Parish Louisiana before that. New England family. James was a son of James Mercier Putnam.

 

WALTER H. (HAROLD) PUTNAM  Brownwood, Brown County

He is a farmer 54 TX, his wife Beatrice Turner 45 TX and they have Kathryn 22 TX a waitress and Walter Jr. 17 still at home. He is a son of Owen Heath Putnam and Mary Emily Eddy from Hamilton County where had been up through 1930 then in Temple, Bell County in 1935 then here. His dad is Stephan Carlos Putnam from Hanover, New Hampshire. Walter was born September 16, 1885 and will die here in Brownwood in January 1974. He married Beatrice in 1912 in Hamilton County. She was born in 1893 and will die next year in 1941.

 

JENNIE PUTNAM  Lockhart, Caldwell County

She is 70 TX and widowed. Jennie is Virginia Smith the second wife and now widow of Joseph Barnet Putman. She has been in Throckmorton, Throckmorton County up through 1930 and here by 1935. Joseph died in Throckmorton August 19, 1924. Julia will be around until she dies here in Lockhart December 30, 1958 just missing out on a New Year’s Eve party. Joseph was on the line of Thomas Putman out of Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

LUCILLE PUTMAN  Outside Clyde, Callahan County

She is 37 LA and widowed. She has Carl Glen 16 TX, Carrie E. 14 TX and Johnnie Ray 6 TX.  Lucille Knox is the widow now of Carl Thomas Putman who just died April 14, 1939. He was born July 29, 1897 in Taylor County and they were in Hereford, Deaf Smith County in 1930 and through 1935 at least. He was a son of Thomas Columbus Putman and Carrie Johnson Bartlett from Taylor County. Southern family from Georgia and South before that.

 

WORTH B. PUTMAN  Outside Clyde, Callahan County

He is 33 TX single and living with his married sister Maurine Parker 31 TX and her husband Floyd 37 TX and their family. He is a son of John Jacob Putnam and Julia Dole Reid and was at home with his widowed mother in Fort Worth in 1930. John was part of the Hampshire County Virginia Putman family, which came from Germany.

 

PUTNAM KIDS  Brownsville, Cameron County

These are stepchildren of Arthur Day 36 TX and their mother Julia Day 34 TX. William M. is 13 OK, Bobbie Jean 12 OK and James C. 10 OK. They are kids of Ezekiel Marion Putnam Junior and are also at home with him Ada City, Pontotoc County Oklahoma. See that for the line. Dutch folks out of New York State.

 

GORDON E. (ELBERT) PUTNAM  Brownsville, Cameron County

He is 21 TX single and a soldier in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Brown. He is a son of William Ernest Putnam and Minnie Stewart and was at home in Angelina County in 1920 and 1921. Gordon was born March 17, 1919 and will die in Lufkin, Texas June 22, 1995. His dad was from Mississippi and his dad Ansel Smith Putnam came from Maine.

 

DONALD PUTNAM  Pearl, Coryell County

He is 44 TX, his wife Pauline Atchley is 37 TX and Margaret 14 TX. He is a truck driver. He is a son of Owen Heath Putnam and Mary E. ‘Mollie’ Eddy and was born in Fairview, Hamilton County Texas August 30, 1895 and will die in Evant, Hamilton County May 19, 1977. He married Pauline October 22, 1921.

 

SILAS PUTMAN  Black Cypress Bayou, Cass County

He is 57 AL and widowed, his son Cashie is 33 TX and they live with Dora Stiles 57 AL who is also widowed. Doris is listed as an aunt. Silas Monroe Putman is a son of John Howard Putman and Cerena Frances Adkins and was born in Marion County Alabama May 11, 1883. He moved to Texas with his folks and married Emma Susan Jarrett in Cass County October 1, 1905. They moved to Saline County Arkansas about 1909 and were there in 1910 and in Sevier County Arkansas in 1920. Susie died January 4, 1915 and he came back here to Cass County and will be here till he dies February 1, 1957. His son Cashie was born in Texas on August 1, 1906 and died September 9, 1970.

 

ANDREW PUTMAM  Flat Creek, Cass County

He is 58 TX, his wife Viola Boyd is 68 TX. Their son Kenneth 28 TX and his wife Marie 24 TX are living with them.  Andrew is a son of John Putman and Sarah Jane McCausland from here. He was born in 1874 and will be here till he dies July 20, 1959. He married Lillie here September 29, 1907. She was born in 1878 and will die February 2, 1960. His dad was from Laurens County South Carolina a son of Reuben Putman. Southern Putmans.

 

CECIL PUTMAN  Hughes Spring, Cass County

He rents a farm for the huge amount of $3 a month. He is 30 TX, his wife Iva Lou Phillips is 22 TX and they have Jack 6 TX, Lillie Lee 4 TX, Gwendolyn 2 TX and Hilda 1 TX. They will eventually have 11 kids. He is Cecil Madison Putman a son of Andrew Madison Putman and Lillie Viola Boyd and was born here October 2, 1909 and married Iva May 22, 1933. He will die right here too on May 27, 1968. Iva is a daughter of Thomas and Emily Phillips. His dad Andrew is a son of John Howard Putman from Alabama. Southern Putmans.

 

JAMES PUTMAN  Allen, Collin County

He is 23 TX and lives with his married sister Omie 20 TX and her husband Lester Ellenburg 31 TX. They are kids of James Putman and Nellie Kitchens from Plano, Collin County. His dad was a son of John Forney Putman and Nancy Cox from Wood County Texas and Benton County Alabama before that. Southern Putmans.

 

FRANK PUTMAN  Copeville, Collin County

He is 28 TX and his wife Pauline Short is 23 TN. He is Frank Carl Putman a son of James David Putman and Carrie Ellen Phillips from here. He was born September 7, 1911. A relative tells me that he married a sister of Ruth Short who married Richard A. Putman, Thomas Franklin’s son. Found an obit that he married Zelma Pauline Short February 14, 1934 in Copeville. She was a daughter of Martin Wise and Ora Myrtle Short and was born June 23, 1916 in Covington, Tennessee and died in Longview, Texas on May 11, 2011. Frank died in Marshall, Texas July 13, 1987. FRANK T. (THOMAS FRANKLIN) PUTNAM  Copeville, Collin County

He is 67 MS AL AL and his wife Stella Jones is 61 TN. He is a son of William Putman and Alice Crow. His folks were from Alabama and he was born in Mississippi January 9, 1872. They were briefly in Longview Texas. He will be here in Copeville till he dies March 14, 1948. Stella was born in Tennessee February 19, 1879 will be here till she dies August 10, 1956. Southern Putmans.

 

RICHARD A. (ALBERT) PUTMAN  Copeville, Collin County

He is 28 TX and his wife Ruth Short 21 TN. He is a son of Thomas Franklin Putman and Stella Jones from here. His dad is a son of William Putman and Alice Crow. He was born March 2, 1912. He married Ruth Elizabeth Short in Copeville on September 1, 1934. Ruth was born September 10, 1918 in Covington Tennessee. They lived in Longview, Texas. He died there March 19, 2002. Southern Putmans.

 

J. FRED (JAMES FLETCHER) PUTMAN  Copeville, Collin County

Probably Fletch, sloppy handwriting I guess. He is 57 AL, his wife Jessie Turner 56 TX and Andrew 20 TX and Claude 17 TX are still at home. He is a son of John Forney Putman and Nancy Cox from Wood County. He was married to Nelly Kitchens there in 1910 and I donմ find him yet in 1920. James was born July 9, 1882 and will die July 15, 1970 in Kaufman County. Nelly was born March 27, 1883 and died in Kaufman County January 27, 1921. Jessie was born in 1884 and will die here in 1947. His folks were from Benton County Alabama.

 

SIMEON H. (HOWARD) PUTMAN  Dexter, Cooke County

He is 53 TX, his wife Eula May Harrison 39 TX and they have Billy Ray 12 TX, Frances 9 TX and Patsy Ann 4 TX. He is a son of James and Melinda Putman and was born in Texas on October 25, 1886. He was at home in Gainesville, Cooke County from 1900 through 1920. By 1930 he is married to Eula May Harrison. Eula was born April 15, 1901 and will die January 30, 1996. Howard will die here January 15, 1948. They are buried in Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville. Southern Putmans.

 

WILLIAM H. (HAROLD) PUTMAN  Dexter, Cooke County

He is 29 TX, his wife Anna May Wiggins is 30 TX and they have Doris Maxine 5 TX. Her brother Wyle 28 TX and his wife Jewell 24 TX live with them. In this census the name is spelled Williams, but it’s Wiggins. Her folks were Osborne Seaborn Wiggins and Fannie Long Owings. William is a son of William Newton Putman and Minnie Lee Schumacher and was with then in Lubbock County in 1930. He was born January 5, 1911 and will die in Marietta, Oklahoma April 12, 1970. He married Anna about 1932. She was born September 14, 1909 in Montague County. They will get divorced later and she will marry Raymond Lyle Purdy in Los Angeles California November 11, 1960. Ray will die a year later on October 26, 1961. She will die January 21, 1994 in Paradise, Butte County California. William’s grave stone lists him and a second wife Elzada born January 8, 1914 and died October 14, 1988.

 

WILLIAM N. (NEWTON) PUTMAN  Dexter, Cooke County

He is 57 AR, his wife Minnie Lee Schumacher is 52 TX and they have Frances 15 OK and Ralph 13 OK at home with them. He is a son of James and Melinda Putman and was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas August 22, 1882. In 1910 and 1920, he is in Cooke County Texas with his wife Minnie and in Lubbock County in 1930. Minnie was born in Texas June 15, 1887 and will die in Hansford County Texas June 20, 1974. William died out in Los Angeles September 9, 1964. Southern line from St. Clair County Alabama and South Carolina before that.

 

MELINDA PUTMAN  Gainesville, Cooke County

She is 80 AL and widowed. She lives with her married daughter Sarah Frances Magers 43 TX and husband Sidney Magers 55 TN. She is Frances Melinda Majors the widow of James M. Putman from here. They were all here in 1910 and overlooked in 1920. James was a son of Simeon Putman from Alabama and he died here in Sturgeon, Cooke County January 2, 1913. She was widowed here in 1930 with her daughter. Frances was born September 9, 1859 and will die here July 11, 1942. Southern Putmans.

 

ELECTRA PUTMAN  Oglesby, Coryell County

She is 62 TX and widowed. Her married daughter Doris 25 TX and husband W. C. Layne 30 TX are with her. Doris is a music teacher. Electra Wollard had been married to William Allen Putman here. He was a son of Francis Manin Putman from McNairy County Tennessee. He was here in 1900 and not found in the 1910 census. He was assistant superintendent of the Texas Reform School here in 1920. He bought a general store here in 1928 and was running it until he died of a heart attack May 15, 1938. Լspan class=SpellE>LeckՊis now running the dry good store and will hang on until 1965. Southern Putman family.

 

JOHN C. (CARLOS) PUTNAM  Precinct 3, Coryell County

He is 36 TX, his wife Maude Alma Ray is 36 TX and they have Donald Wayne 13 TX. He is a son of Owen Heath Putnam and Mary Emily Eddy. John was born January 8, 1904 in Hamilton County and will die February 3, 1983 in Mansfield, Tarrant County. Alma was born April 28, 1904 and will die in Arlington, Tarrant County November 16, 1999. The son Donald Wayne was born December 7, 1926 and will die in Arlington August 31, 1990. Owen was from Indiana and his folks from New Hampshire. New Englanders.

 

THOMAS R. (ROACH) PUTMAN  Precinct 3, Dallam County

He is a farmer and the son of Albert Putman and Juliet Roach from Guymon, Texas County Oklahoma. He was born November 24, 1904 and was at home in 1920 and got married there in 1927 and was there through 1935 at least. Pearl was born September 9, 1911 in Range, Oklahoma and will die in Canyon County Texas in December 2003. Tom will die in Hartley December 14, 1979. He is Jeremiah III a son of Jeremiah Putman and Sarah Steed from Scott County Mississippi married to Dena May Chapman in Runnels County Texas in 1920 and here in 1930. He was born August 7, 1896 and died July 5, 1940. He married Dena S. Chapman in 1923. Dena was born in 1885 and died in 1973. They had one child: Leonard Hugh Putman born in 1924 and died in 1943 in WWII.

She is 58 AL and now widowed. She still has at home James Weaver 34 TX, Louise K. 29 TX and Robert 21 TX. Annie Weaver had been married to Marcus Green Putnam in Hill County from 1901 through 1920 and then in Jones County in 1930. He died in Denton County February 14, 1937. He was a son of James Winston Putman and Elizabeth Guire from Marshall County Alabama, a son of the Reverend Martin Putman and Mahulda Parker. He was born in Alabama September 21, 1875. He is 26 TX and his wife Marie Weaver 22 TX. He is a painter for a construction company. He is Clovis Willie Putnam a son of Lonnie Putman and Willie Adams from Kaufman County. He was born July 10, 1913 and died in Richardson Texas March 25, 1993. In 1920 Clovis shows up at age 7 living with Earl Adams a brother I guess of Willie and then in 1930 he is still in Johnson County with Charles Adams. He married Mildred Lois Pollard. She was born December 5, 1914 and died soon after they are married on July 1, 1932. He married Zannie Marie Weaver. He is 68 IA MI WI and is an art teacher at a college. His wife Lalla S. is 57 KY and they have Gordon W. 33 AR, their divorced daughter Mildred Forbes 28 AR, and daughter Margaret Lalla Putnam 25 TX at home. Also here are Mildred’s son Eddie Forbes Junior 10 TX and widowed aunt Betty Johnson 83 KY. He is a son of Charles A. Putnam and Julia Gordon from La Grange, Iowa and Cass County Michigan before that. Charles was a son of Orlean Putnam and Amelia Vanderhoof from Cass County Michigan. His folks got divorced and he was with his mother in Oklahoma in 1910 and was married to Ruby in Harris County in 1920 and here in 1930. He is now 70 IL NY IL and is owns and operates a retail notions store. His wife Oralla Verner is 53 TX MO TX, and they have Paul Thomas 18 TX still at home. Also here is a granddaughter Esther Naomi Mills 11 TX. He is a son of Henry Gardner Putnam and Esther Della Rice and was born in Whiteside County Illinois February 8, 1869. He was home in Dallas County in 1900, Henderson County in 1910 and back here in Dallas in 1920. He will die here December 24, 1955 after drinking too much waiting for Santa to come down the chimney. He is a son of Jeremiah Putman and Sarah Virginia Steed who where here in Dallas in 1920. They have gone back and both his folks will die there in Harperville, Mississippi in 1935. He is 64 TX NC TX and is a custodian at a public school. His wife Bertha Mae is 49 KY and a matron at the school. He first is in Tyler County in 1900, and just married to Ada Malone. Then he was here with Bertha in 1910. I can't find him in 1920, but he will be here till he dies June 20, 1951. He is a son of John Putman and Sarah McCausland as shown in Shackleford County in 1880 and listed as Leroy. Bertha was born January 11, 1891 and will die here in Dallas in April 1968. LELA PUTMAN  Dallas, Dallas County

Lela Mae is 54 TX and single. Her sister Gustava 42 TX is with her and so is Aline Walker 40 TX. Lela was in Lockhart, Caldwell County Texas in 1935 with her widowed stepmother Virginia Smith, her dad’s second wife. Her sister and Aline are public school teachers, single of course, and have been here a while. Gustava was here in 1930 and in Caldwell County before that. They are daughters of Joseph Barnet Putman and his first wife Julia McGinnis from Caldwell County. Neither sister ever married. Lela Mae was born April 10, 1885. She was a Methodist missionary in Brazil for many years. She later moved in with her sister Gustava and will die in Dallas in May 1975. Gustava was born November 16, 1895 and will die here in Dallas April 15, 1988. Southern Putman family from Georgia and South Carolina before that.

She is 33 TX says married but lives alone. She works in a millinery store. In 1930, Benjamin Franklin Putnam in Wichita Falls had a wife Louise age 22. Benjamin died in Longview, Gregg County Texas on December 17, 1933, so she is alone. Might be her.

He is 37 TX, his wife Wilma Crenshaw is 37 TX and they have a son R. L. 14 TX born June 20, 1925. He is Lynn Raymond a brick mason working on building construction. He was born April 26, 1902 in Collin County. He married Wilma Crenshaw on December 17, 1921 in Dallas, Texas. They lived in Snyder, Texas and had just the one son, probably Ray Lynn Jr. His father was John Putman, a son of William Putman and Alice Crow from Collin County. His dad died in 1904, and his mother, Ida Rosilie Wingo remarried to Oliver Trueblood a few years later. They were in Scurry County in 1910 and here by 1920.

She is 65 TX (think 55 or 58) and widowed. She is a live-in nurse at the home of Franz Wilbarger. Marie Lamar was married to Bruce Putnam here in 1930 and he died July 1, 1933. He was a son of Rufus Putnam from Louisville, Kentucky and grandson of George Washington Putnam from Ohio. New England family.

 

MARION G. (GARDINER) PUTNAM  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 60 IL and his second wife Hallie Gafford is 40 TX. He is a son of Henry Gardiner Putnam and Esther D. Rice and was born in Lyndon, Whiteside County Illinois January 27, 1880. This is a Dutch family originally from New York. He was born in Illinois, but grew up in Dallas County Texas. He was there with his folks in 1900. He married Lela Schofield here in 1905 and they were in Portland, Maine in 1910. He just left the family and took off about 1915. Lela later married John L. McBrady and stayed in Maine the rest of her life. He joined the Army Air Force in Dallas in WWI and was single here in 1920. He married Hallie here in 1925 and they were in San Antonio in 1930 and he is still in the Air Force. They were both in Riverside, California in 1935. He is unemployed now in 1940. They will later go to California where he will die December 12, 1964 in Glendale and Hallie will die there in February 1978. Dutch Putmans from New York State.

 

O. J. (OSCAR JACKSON) PUTMAN  Dallas, Dallas County

He is 61 MS MS MS and rents a farm. His wife Tempe Cornelia Savell is 59 MS and they have Roy B. 6 MS. The folks are here now forever. Tempe will die here May 13, 1951 and Oscar March 24, 1971. He is a son of Albert Gallatin Putman and Carrie McKnight from Scott County Mississippi. Oscar was born January 18, 1879 and will die here in Dallas March 24, 1971. They were in Leake County there in 1920 and then headed west. Southern Putmans of course. The son Roy Bryan Putman was born October 18, 1923. He was married three times. To Helen Pope on December 25, 1944,and they were divorced. Then to a woman named Gordyne on January 3, 1978 and then after she died in 1986, to Tommie Duke. He died in an auto accident April 4, 1990.

He is 26 TX and his wife Ruby Tracy 19 TX. They both work in a Textile mill. He is Elmo Odell Putnam a son of Newton Lemon Putnam and Florence Blackman from here. He was born March 19, 1914 in Johnson County Texas. He married Ruby Jewel Tracy and died February 1, 1986.

He was born in Little Rock June 25, 1905 and will die here in Dallas December 15, 1964. His dad was a son of Charles A. They were in different parts of Navarro County in 1935 and based on the kids age, this would be a second marriage for Gladys. Audie Taft Putman is a son of William Hennis Putman and Lou Ellen McCullough from Dawson, Navarro County where he was born March 14, 1919 and he will die in Fort Worth, Tarrant County in January 1983. I donմ have any more info on Gladys, but he will marry Eugie M. Ussery in Tarrant County May 5, 1973.

She is 31 MO single and lives with Frances Miller 32 KS. She was in Topeka, Kansas in 1935. They were both in Kansas City, Missouri in 1930. She is a stenographer in a bakery. She is a daughter of Omar Oliver Putman and Leah Saunders and was born in 1908 in Kansas City Missouri and was there through the 1930. Omar is a son of Elijah Putman and Laura Ellen Thompson. Elijah was a son of Abraham Putman and Elizabeth Duff from Davis County Iowa. Omar was born in Washington County Kansas and was with his mother there in 1895 and in Oklahoma with her in 1900. He married Ada Leah Saunders in Leavenworth, Kansas on December 6, 1907. They were in Kansas City, Missouri in 1920, and then Leah died July 30, 1922 shortly after the birth of the daughter Leah. He is 42 AR, his wife Margaret Adele Dobbs is 36 TX and they have Betsy 15 LA and Susan 8 TN. He is an advertising rep for a newspaper publisher. He is a son of William Benjamin Putman and Maud Klare Junk. He married Margaret Thornton in Arkansas in 1919 and they were in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1920. They divorced in the mid 1920s. He then married Margaret Adele Dobbs March 23, 1929. They were in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1930. She was born in Texas September 16, 1904 and will die in Smith County Texas October 7, 1991. He was a newspaperman in Dallas. He will die October 24, 1955 in Dallas, Texas. They had one daughter, Susan Adele Putman born February 6, 1932 in Memphis and died December 8, 2000. Susan married Kenneth Roger Davey in France in 1954 where he was stationed in the U.S. Army. The daughter Elizabeth Ann was by Margaret and her first marriage to George Pierce Reid. She was born in New Orleans December 20, 1924, will marry Robert Due Agers and die in Seattle, Oregon June 24, 1989.

He is 53 IL and widowed. He first popped up on his own in Johnson County Illinois in 1900. Rand found a birth record that has his folks as Eri A. Putnam and Florence A. Silby or in another record Florence Libby. He was born in Illinois July 9, 1886, and will die in Lamesa, Texas in September 1968. He was single in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma in 1910 and then was married to Theodosia Stone in Beckham County in 1920 and 1930. Dosha is buried in Sayre, Beckham County. Her stone reads she was born March 10, 1890 and died July 29, 1937. He will marry Flora Mae Frazier here March 28, 1943.

He is 36 TX, his wife Rosa Morgan 32 TN and they now have George 11 TX, Mae 6 TX and a son J. W. 3 TX. He is a son of William Hennis Putman and Lou Ellen McCulloch from Navarro County. He was born May 1, 1903 and Rose was born February 5, 1908.

 

WILLIAM C. (CLARY) PUTMAN  Outside of OՄonnell City, Dawson County

He is 42 TX, his wife Janie is 36 TX, and they have William C. Jr. 14 TX and Ouida Fay 7 TX. He is a son of William Hennis Putman and Lou Ellen McCulloch from Navarro County. He was born May 27, 1898 and died in a car accident May 15, 1949. His wife Janie was born April 3, 1902 and died November 19, 1989. J. C. (JERRY CLAYTON) PUTMAN  Little Elm Creek, Denton County

He is 32 TX, his wife Varna is 33 AL and they have Susie Lee 6 TX. His sister Frances 15 OK is with them. Jerry and Frances are kids of William Newton Putman and Minnie Lee Schumacher from Lubbock. They were both there in 1930. Jerry was with the family in Cooke County in 1910 and 1920.Jerry was born November 10, 1980 and will die back in Lubbock October 3, 1962. He is a tenant farmer.

She is 60 TN and widowed. Eula May Gaines was married to Ellie Harrison Putman here since the early 1900s. They were married in Tennessee in 1898 and in Clay County Arkansas in 1900 and here by 1910. Ellie was a son of William Riley Putman of Christian County Kentucky. He died here August 24, 1939. He was a physician. Eula is a daughter of Henry Pendleton and Nellie Tennessee Gaines and was born in Weakley County Tennessee July 21, 1876 and will die here in Cuero January 22, 1959.

 

HARRY C. (COVINGTON) PUTMAN  Cuero, DeWitt County

He is 32 AR, his wife Evelyn Leharman 26 TX and they have Gerald Harrison 3/12 TX. He is the city editor of the local newspaper publisher. He is a son of Elias Harrison and Eula Putman from here. Harry was born in 1907 and will die here January 11, 1959. Evelyn was born in 1912 and will die here in Cuero in 1998. Southern line from Kentucky and South Carolina before that.

 

LOUIS S. (LEWIS SIMUEL) PUTMAN  Dickens Township, Dickens County

He is 69 AL and still widowed since his wife Bertha Jarrett has died. He owns a blacksmith shop. He has his son James Larimore 35 TX, his wife Chessie Wilmoth DeBusk 27 TX and their daughters Vena 10 TX and Valera 7 TX. Jim also works for his dad in the blacksmith shop. Lewis is a son of John Howard and Cerina Putman from Cass County. John was a son of Simeon Putman from Marion County Alabama. Lewis was born in Marion County Alabama August 15, 1870. He married Bertha Jarrett on March 24, 1895. They were in Cass County in 1900 through 1920. Bertha was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 26, 1879. Her folks were William Raford Jarrett and Emeline Jane Clayton. Like his daddy, Lewis did some inventing on his own. He patented a 'lift machine' among others. Bertha died on January 11, 1930 and Lewis died on April 26, 1952, both in Dickens, Texas. Then the son James Larimore was born April 30, 1904. He too was a blacksmith. He married Chessie Wilmoth DeBusk. She was born in Texas May 23, 1912 and died July 6, 2003. Jim died of a heart attack on May 22, 1956. Southern Putmans.

 

LEONARD S. (STEVEN) PUTMAN  Dickens Township, Dickens County

He is 20 TX as is his new wife Opal Geraldine Noland (yes, that is the way she spelled her name). He is a son of Lewis and Bertha Putman and lives next door to his dad. He is a laborer for the County. Len was born December 29, 1919 and will die in Lubbock, Texas on February 18, 1985. He married Opal Gerldene Noland who was born December 18, 1919 and will die June 21, 1995.

 

SAM F. (SAMUEL FOSTER) PUTMAN  Pct. 2 rural, Dickens County

He is 38 TX, his wife Dorothy DeBusk 29 TX and they have Dorothy Coex 10 TX, Thomas Foster 8 TX, Janice Faye 6 TX, and twins Billy Paul and Betty Pauline both 3 TX. He is a bus driver and janitor for the district public school. He is a son of Lewis Simuel Putman and Bertha Jarrett and was born in Linden, Cass County June 29, 1901. He married Dorothy Gertrude DeBusk on October 18, 1928 in Haskell, Texas. He was a carpenter like his father. Samuel died April 24, 1985. Dorothy was born in Millsap, Texas July 19, 1910 died June 22, 1991. Both are buried in Mineral Wells, Texas. Their children were: Dorothy Coez Putman born October 17, 1929. She married Harold Truman Spurlock on October 2, 1948. He was born April 6, 1924 and died January 18, 2006. Thomas Foster Putman born June 15, 1931. He married Frieda Doris Holland on June 9, 1956. Janice Faye Putman born May 24, 1933. She married Keeven Smith on June 9, 1956. Billy Paul Putman born June 12, 1936. He married first in Japan to Akiko Kuriyama on January 23, 1964 and then Cecilia Flores Cooper on April 24, 1976. Billy is the one who supplied info on this family. She is 67 TX and widowed. Her widowed sister Mary Kelsey 65 TX is with her. Dora Melvina ‘Dolly’ Fox was married to William Henry Putman here from abut 1915 till he died here April 6, 1926. She was widowed in El Paso in 1930 living with her daughter Lelia Simmons. She has been back here before 1935. Dolly was born in Texas November 9, 1871 and will die in Wichita Falls, Texas November 13, 1951.

She is Mary Ann Rash 39 TX and divorced. She lives in a hotel and is a hostess there. In 1930 she was married to John Austin Putman here and in 1920 they were in Socorro County New Mexico. She says she was in Baylor County Texas in 1935. She was born in Wood County June 8, 1899 and will die in El Paso July 16, 1969. John is a son of William Henry Putman and Dora Melvina Fox from Gonzales County where he was born July 31, 1899. He was with his folks in Presidio County in 1910 and then married to Mary in New Mexico in 1920. I donմ know where he is now, as he wonմ die till October 28, 1967 in Wilbarger County Texas. In 1930 they had a son John Mac born July 17, 1924 and will die in El Paso October 29, 1952.

 

W. (WILLIAM) E. PUTMAN  Spur, Dickens County

He is 46 TX, his wife Winnie is 43 TX and they have W. E. Junior 19 TX. He runs a gasoline station and they were here in 1935. He is William E. Putman a son of William Henry Putman and Dora Melvina Fox from Gonzales County. The family was here in the County in 1920, and he and Winnie were here in 1930. He was born August 10, 1893 and will die in Johnson County Texas April 26, 1975. He first married Dollie Maupin and the son Willie Jr. is with her I believe. Willie Junior is married in Coconino County Arizona in 1950.

He is 40 TX MS MS. His wife Terra Adella Garland is 39 MS and they have Freda 14 TX, Leonard M. Jr. 12 TX, Margaret Y. 8 TX and Joan M. 4 TX. He is a son of Marcus Lafayette Putman and Corrie Brinson from here. He was born in Collin County and has been here since the 1910. He was born December 19, 1899 and will die here April 13, 1973. Terra was born January 20, 1901 and will die in Clarendon, Texas on Wednesday October 22, 1997 Southern Putmans from Tennessee.

 

LOIS PUTMAN  Clarendon, Donley County

He is a he, kinda like the song calleԁ “a boy named Sue.” He is 28 TX, his wife Willie Mae Barbee 26 TX and they have Wright (probably Lois Jr.) 3 TX and Ola M. /12/TX. He is Lois Wright Putman a son of Marcus Lafayette Putman and Corrie Brinson from here. He was born May 4, 1911 and will die here in Clarendon September 23, 1979. The tombstone also lists Willie born March 28, 1914 and no death date so she was alive in 1979. A descendant says she was alive in Arkansas in November of 2012 at age 98 and going strong. The son Wright died young when kicked by a horse.

 

M. L. (MARCUS LAFAYETTE) PUTMAN  Clarendon City, Donley County

He is 61 TN TN AL and rents a farm. Corrie (his wife Coranette Clementine Brinson) is 58 TX and they now have Guy 35 TX, Clyde 26 TX, Marcus Eugene 19 TX and Wilma 17 TX. He is a son of Charles Putman and Rosetta Hodges from McNairy County Tennessee. He was born there in January 1879 and will die here in 1950. He has been here since the 1880s when his folks headed out here. They were initially in Collin County and Mark has been here in Donley County since about 1908. The son Guy was born July 7, 1904 and will die here April 27, 1993. Clyde was born October 2, 1913 and will die here in Clarendon August 13, 1993. They also have another daughter Edna whose tombstone reads Edna Holsenbeck born January 5, 1916 and died in Clarendon March 22, 2000. Her husband Walter Tines Holsenbeck was born December 21, 1916 and died in Clarendon July 6, 1988. They had a daughter Ella Mae who was here in 1910 and 1920. She was born January 22, 1909 and died July 11, 1994 in Clarendon. She married Mayburn B. Trout who was born January 24, 1910 and died here January 1, 1980. He is 41 TX AR TN and is a section hand with the railroad. His wife Theryn Irea McBee is 36 TX. They were married September 22, 1924 and have a daughter Deveda Lucille 14 TX and Earl G. 8 TX. David Oliver Putnam is a son of James Harvey Putnam and his fourth wife Rena Byrd and was born January 18, 1899 and with the family here in 1910 and probably 1920 but not indexed.  He was married here in 1930. He will die here January 8, 1977. Theryn was born February 6, 1904 and will die June 3, 1993 in McLennan County. Their daughter married Ernest Havranek in McLennan County January 1, 1988. His dad James was a son of Jabel Putman and Lurena Lamb from Tennessee and then Oregon County Oklahoma. His widowed mother Rena was in Jones County in 1930 and is here in Carbon now. She is 74 MO widowed and living with Elizabeth Welch 76 GA and also widowed. Rena Byrd was the fourth and final wife of James Harvey Putman from here. They were here in 1910 and 1920 and then she was widowed in Anson, Jones County in 1930. James was a son of Jabel Putman and Lurena Lamb from Tennessee and then Oregon County Oklahoma.

She is 65 LA and says she is married, but isnմ. She has been out in Pasadena California up through 1935 and has 4 other people from Pasadena with her including a couple born in Louisiana who are probably relatives. Her folks were Joseph Watson Putnam and Helen Elise Peabody. Joseph was born in Albany, Washington County Vermont, and later traveled to Louisiana. He came to California with his brother Oramel in the 1890s. Joseph died there in 1893. Ethel was with her mother and brother Burleigh in 1920, 1930 and earlier. New England folks.

He is 79 AL and his wife Eliza Ann Farris is 74 AL. He owns a stock farm and was here in 1935. He is the son of James Putman of Marshall County Alabama and a grandson of Martin and Huldy Putman. They were in Navarro County in 1900 and in Anson, Jones County after that. Southern Putman Family out of North Carolina and then Alabama.

 

MARK PUTNAM  Outside Cisco City, Eastland County

He is 42 TX, his wife Bertha White is 34 TX and their daughter Patsy is 13 TX. Mark Lee is a son of James Martin and Eliza Putnam from here. He rents and works on his dad’s farm. They were married in Jones County in 1925 and kinda ‘separated’ there in 1930, but back together now.

She is 9 TX and he is 5 TX. They are kids of Jesse Grady Putnam and Oma Lee Byrd. The folks were divorced and they live with their mother Oma L. Boyett 30 TX and her new husband Lee A. Boyett 40 AR and their son Alfred G. Boyett 1 TX. Their dad is around now too. The son James Calvin was born June 12, 1935 in Eastland County and will die here May 28, 1999. Southern Putmans.

He is 41 TX and divorced and has his son Joseph E. 10 TX with him. He was married to Oma Lee Byrd here in 1930 and 1935 then they got divorced. She is in town and remarried with 2 of their kids. Jesse is a son of George L. Putnam and Laura Bell Simmons and was born in Collin County in 1898 and at home there in 1900 and 1910. Part of the family out of Jefferson County Tennessee and North Carolina before that.

 

JOHN D. PUTMAN  Ovilla, Ellis County

He is 41 TX a farmer. His wife Ina Louise White is 36 TX and they have Bill 18 TX, Emily 16 TX, Lela Maureen 14. Ina’s dad Samuel White 63 TX is widowed and living with them. They were in rural Dallas County in 1935 and I canմ find them any earlier. Would guess not Putmans at all.

She is 44 (54) TX widowed and operates a boarding house. Belle Harrell was the second wife of Gerrie Price Putman here from 1910 till he died September 8, 1938. She was running this family hotel in 1930 as well. She‘ll be around till she dies here June 9, 1956. Gerrie was superintendent of a public school. His dad Thomas Rogers came from Georgia. ANNA PUTNAM  El Paso, El Paso County

She is 15 NM and lives with her mother Ethel Powers who is now married to Thomas Westbrook. Found a tree that says she was born September 19, 1924 in Hanover, New Mexico, and will die in Garden Grove, California June 2, 1972. BUT her dad is listed ‘private’. I wrote the person who did the tree and hoped to get the Putnam name, but no reply. Rand Putnam found a listing on Ancestry that has her father as George Loraine Putman (b. 20 Aug 1905 in PA and died 31 May 1934) and his father as Elmer Barrup Putnam (no info). Probably German family but who knows?

She is Elsie Collins 41 NM and has Elsie J. 15 TX and Gerry P. 13 TX. She lives with her mother Helen Collins 68 TX. She was married to Harrell Flemming Putman who was missing here in 1930 too. He was a son of Gerry Price Putman and Marianne Harrell and was born here.  Southern Putman family.

 

GEORGE PUTMAN  El Paso, El Paso County

He is 36 TX and his wife Ruby A. French is 32 OK. He is a gasoline truck driver. George is a son of Mark Putman and Georgia Crosby from here. He was born in Parker County where his dad was from on November 29, 1903 and will die here in El Paso December 17, 1944. Ruby was born in Altus, Jackson County Oklahoma September 24, 1907 and will die here in El Paso February 11, 1957.

 

KATHERINE PUTMAN  El Paso, El Paso County

She is 16 TX OK TX and lives with her grandparents Joseph and Pearl Richards as she did in 1930. Her birth certificate says she is Katherine Lou Putman born here January 10, 1924. No idea as to her folks though. Rand found this: Her mother is Mary Ruth Richard. She died on 25 Jan 1924 at age 18 years and 5 months old. The death certificate has the informant as H. J. Putman from El Paso. I would assume this is her hubby. From the census listing, we know H. J. Putman was born in OK and was likely born between 1900 and 1907.Ӽ/i> Not sure who he is.

 

LIGE (ELIJAH) PUTMAN  El Paso, El Paso County

He is 38 TX TX TX and his wife Ruth Luella Myers is 28 CO. They were jus married here in 1930 and now have Betty Jane 9 TX. Her widowed mother Frances Myers 73 IA is now living with them. He is a bookkeeper for his dad’s tire company. He is a son of the following Mark and Georgia Putman. He was born in Parker County January 9, 1902 and will die in Topeka, Kansas in August 1986. Ruth is a daughter of Samuel Lincoln Myers and Frances Louella Fiddler and was born in Routt, Colorado December 9, 1911 and will die in Hemet, Riverside County California January 2, 1980. They will have gotten divorced as her death certificate lists her then name as Ruth Louella Baker.

 

MARK PUTMAN  El Paso, El Paso County

He is 60 TX and his wife Georgia Crosby is 58 TX. He is still a wholesale tire dealer here in town. They were in Parker County where his dad was a mayor up until the 1920s. Mark is a son of Glen Elijah Putman and Mary Ann ‘Molly’ Self and was born January 21, 1880 in Falls County before the family moved to Parker County. He will be here for the rest of his life and will die here November 13, 1945. Georgia was born in Gonzales County Texas September 1881 and will die in Lubbock, Texas April 4, 1968. ROBERT PUTNAM  El Paso, El Paso County

He is 31 CO and his wife Katherine 31 VA and they have Peggy 2 TX. He is a machinist in a steam railway shop. He is a son of Claude Eugene and Mary Putnam and was with his folks in Garfield County Colorado in 1910 and La Plata County Colorado in 1920. His folks are in Otero County Colorado now. Robert was single here in 1930. They are in Tuscan Arizona in 1950. New England family out of New Hampshire then New York then Michigan.

 

CHARLIE PUTNAM  Fort Bliss Military Reservation, El Paso County

He is 18 TX and a soldier in the Army at Fort Bliss. He is a son of Charles Sylvester Putnam and Mavis Edna Stinebaugh and was born in Hunt County and was at home there in Greenville in 1930 and 1935. Charlie was born June 9, 1921 and will die here July 10, 1959. Southern line from Jefferson County Tennessee and North Carolina before that.

 

ROYAL PUTNAM  Winchester, Fayette County

He is 23 TX single and lodging. He is a public school teacher. He is a son of Royal Augustus Putnam and Abigail Whitley and was born in Edna, Jackson County October 9, 1916 and was there through 1935. He will marry Marguerite Alice Dryden. She will die in San Antonio July 24, 1974 and he will later marry Lynette Taylor there January 27, 1979. She had married Louis Cole Transou in 1948 and divorced in 1959. He will die in San Antonio March 22, 1998 and Lynette will die there November 21, 2009. His dad was a son of Perley Porter Putnam and Martha Ellen Marvin from Tioga County Pennsylvania and the family was originally from Massachusetts. New Englanders.

 

EDWIN M. (MIRON?) PUTNAM  Rosenberg, Fort Bend County

He is a Church Pastor, He is 44 OK, his wife Frances Mae Pribble 43 IN and they have Billie E. 16 TX. He was born in Greer County Oklahoma December 21, 1895 and has been in Fort Worth through 1935. He is a son of Egbert Miron and Dora Putman from Michigan and then Greer County Oklahoma. He will die in Austin ,Texas November 10, 1958. His dad Egbert was a son of John Cornelius Putman and his second wife, Nancy Halstead, and was born in Brandon, Muskegon County Michigan. The family went to Oklahoma in the land rush. John died there in 1906, and Egbert headed down here. They are still in Fort Worth. This is a Dutch family from Montgomery County New York originally.

They were pretty much just married in Cass County in 1920. He is a son of Lewis Putman and Bertha Jarrett. He was born in Linden, Cass County July 6, 1896 and married Pearl there October 6, 1918. Pearl was born in Como, Texas September 3, 1900 and will die February 19, 1986. John will die in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto County March 9, 1980. His folks are in Dickens County now and were in 1930. She is 28 OK and divorced She has a 3 month old son Clifford Walter Putman born in California. She is living with her mother Ola Belle 47 TX and her stepfather Claude Lee Henderson 56 AL. She was in Frio County Texas in 1935. Frio County is way down at the lower tip on the Mexican border. Good luck here, they obviously went out to the Golden State when the dust bowel drove them out. He was born in Plano, Kendall County Illinois July 7, 1881 and married Gertrude in New Brunswick Canada in 1905. He will die here in Pampa January 10, 1963. Gertrude was born in Louisville, Kentucky October 5, 1881 and will die here March 30, 1963. John is a son of William Hollis Putnam and Catherine Henry McNally. William was a son of Hollis Putman and Charlotte Lobdell. The family was in Will County in 1860 and 1870. Before that they were in Johnstown, Fulton County, New York where William was born. He is 32 NE and his wife Clara Augusta Phinney is 35 SD. He is a warehouse foreman in an oil production company. He is a son of John Joseph Putnam and Gertrude Angela Huber and was born in Falls City, Nebraska May 17, 1907 and will die in Lafayette, Louisiana February 17, 1981. He married Clara March 16, 1933. She is a daughter of Robert Anderson Phinney and Mary Elizabeth Kelly and was born in Miller, South Dakota February 28, 1905. She married Owen Owens in 1923 and another guy then Will. She will also die in Lafayette, Louisiana November 20, 1972. William’s dad is a son of William Hollis and Catherine Putnam. The family was in Lee County Illinois in 1900 and in Kendall County Illinois in 1880. William was a son of Hollis Putman and Charlotte Lobdell from Johnstown, New York. That family was in Will County Illinois in 1860 and 1870. Dutch family from New York State.

He is 43 AR AR AR and is a section foreman for the railway. His wife Mary Etta Sue Raper is 42 OK and they have George L. Jr. 12 OK. He is George Littleton Putman a son of George Calvin Putman and Nettie Carmack from Polk County Arkansas. The family went over to Oklahoma about 1916. George and Etta were married in Wagoner County Oklahoma in 1930 and he was with the railroad and still is. He was born in Polk County Arkansas March 2, 1897 and will die in Henrietta, Oklahoma December 19, 1959. Etta was born in Oklahoma City in 1897. Their son George was born in Oklahoma City December 18, 1927 and will die March 17, 1973 out in Redding, California. Southern Putmans South Carolina to Illinois to Arkansas.

He is 30 TX, his wife Elsie Marie Putman 26 TX and they have Carrie Ellen 9 OK, Johnnie Dee 4 OK and Velder Dean 2 TX. And yes, Elsie is a Putman too. She is a daughter of his dad’s brother Asa Dee Putman. Aubra was born September 25, 1908 and will die in Norman, Oklahoma August 13, 1981. Elsie was born in Fannin County Texas November 9, 1913 and will die in Norman, Oklahoma April 4, 1987. They were in rural McLain County Oklahoma in 1935. Then there is his widowed father William Henry Putman 69 TN and his brother Woodrow 26 TX.  These guys were in Collin County in 1920 and in 1935. They were all in McLain County Oklahoma in 1930. His dad is a son of Charles Dee Putman and Rosetta Jane Hodges from McNairy County Tennessee. He was married to Emma Carrie Campbell back in 1910 and she died November 11, 1917. William Henry Putman will die here in Tioga January 20, 1944. The brother Woodrow was born April 25, 1913 and will die in Oklahoma City July 24, 1989. He will marry Genevieve Wiggley. LULA PUTMAN  Whitesboro, Grayson County

She is 56 MO and now widowed. She has her sons Jesse 18 TX and Jack 14 TX with her. She was married to William J. Putman in Cooke County in 1930 and Titus County in 1920 and Delta County in 1910. In 1880 Will was with his mother M. E. Putman in Wood County Texas. She was a widow and his dad was born in North Carolina, but I do not know what his name was.

 

T. R. (THOMAS RUSSELL) PUTMAN  Longview, Gregg County

He is 43 KY and a commercial manager at a radio station. His wife Amanda Bertha Kreitemeyer is 37 IN and they have Dorothy Louise 17 IL. He was married to her sister Irma Helene Kreitemeyer who died in childbirth of the daughter Dorothy December 31, 1922. He married Amanda in Chicago February 26, 1928. He is a son of Charles Monroe Putman and Susan Wallingford from Fleming and then Campbell County Kentucky. He was born in Fleming County July 27, 1897 and will die here in Longview February 28, 1979. Thomas will be about the first serious genealogist on the Southern Putman line and put out a family genealogy book in the 1950s. I have a copy of that book and he did a really great job long before computers. In those days you wrote to relatives and asked them to give you information and to steer you to others and then you repeated and repeated and eventually got one heck of a lot. Mostly handwritten info. I have whole file cabinets full of stuff like that. Now you just look up on Ancestry or Family Search and get all that and tons more.

 

DILLARD PUTMAN  Rural Precinct 7, Gregg County

He is an oil field worker and was also here in 1935. He is 33 AL and single. He is Lonnie Dillard Putnam a son of Samuel Marcus Putnam and Etta Lavonia Green. He was born in Marshall County Alabama February 23, 1907 and will shortly marry Johnnie Mae Bates back in Marshall County on July 31, 1940. She is a daughter of John Bates and Dora Martin and was born in Marshall County November 24, 1908 and will die in Arab, Marshall County March 10, 1991. Lonnie will die there October 17, 1967. Southern Putmans out of North Carolina.

 

LEWIS (LOUIS) PUTMAN  Rural Precinct 7, Gregg County

He is 33 TX, his wife Doris Ophelia Harris is 31 TX and they have Robert D. 8 TX, June Laverne 6 TX and Lewis D. 5 TX. He is now a truck driver and was an automobile mechanic before. His name is Louis Chester Putman and he is a son of Virgil Taylor Putman and Sarah Frances Miller and was born in Fannin County Texas November 15, 1906. Doris is a daughter of Barnet Wilson Harris and Sarah Lydia Sarathine and was born September 23, 1908 in Hunt County and will die in Hunt County April 1, 1979. Louis will die in Tarrant County May 23, 1956. Both are buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, Hunt County. His dad Virgil is a son of Lorenzo Dow Putman from Cleveland County North Carolina and then Calhoun County Mississippi. They were in Hunt County in 1935 and in Midland County in 1930. ANDREW L. (LEE) PUTNAM  Plainview, Hale County

He is 63 TX GA TX and is now the owner of a retail electrical store. His wife Ada C. Malone is 62 TX and they have Elizabeth 18 TX. Andrew is a son of Howard Brazelton Putman and Sophronia Manly. He was born August 8, 1876 in Sulphur Springs and married Ada May 3, 1899. She was born September 21, 1877 and will die January 5, 1981. He will die in Hale County September 17, 1956. They were in Jones County Texas in 1910 and here in 1920. Southern Putmans out of Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

BEN PUTNAM  Evant, Hamilton County

He is 47 TX IL WV and owns a farm. He is widowed as his wife wife Ila Mae Ray was born August 6, 1896 and died November 10, 1939. At home still is Kenneth Luther 20 TX, and his wife Lena Pauline Baker 17 TX and Kenneth Dewayne 8/12. He is a son of Owen Putnam and Mary Eddy from here. New England line from New Hampshire and Massachusetts before that. He was born December 3, 1892 and will die in Bosque County on December 26, 1974. He will later marry Ora Belle Graham July 4, 1951. Ora Belle was born November 19, 1901 in Coryell County Texas. She was a daughter of Aaron Graham and Martha Louise McCleskey. She will die in Coryell County in May 1972.

 

O. H. (OWEN HEATH) PUTNAM  Evant, Hamilton County

He is86 IN and his wife Mary Eddy is 79 WV. They have a grandson Robert D. Werner 16 TX with them as they had in 1930. He is a son of Stephan Carlos Putnam and Mary Emily Eddy. His dad was from Hanover, New Hampshire. He was born in Huntington County Indiana August 16, 1853. Mary is a daughter of John D. Eddy and Rachel Myers and was born in Marion County West Virginia April 28, 1861. They were married here February 10, 1880. Owen will die here September 29, 1941 and Mary September 18, 1946. New England Putnams of course.

 

WALTER PUTMAN  Quanah, Hardeman County

He is listed as 54 TX and still single. James Walter is a son of Henderson John Putman and Omi Mary Wilson from here and Moore County Tennessee before that. Walter was born here June 5, 1884 and will die here December 29, 1958. His dad was born in Tennessee in September 1852 and died here in Quanah in 1908. His mother died here in 1911.

 

NOMER M. (MARION) PUTMAN  Galena Park, Harris County

He is 44 TX, his wife Octavia Zelphia Brisco is 40 AL and they have Mahlon 22 AL, Clifton Clovis 21 AL, Avis Boyd 17 OK and Jerry 4 TX. He is a foreman at a pulp mill. He is a son of the Reverend James Winston Putman and Mary Elizabeth Lindsey and was born in Hood County Texas March 2, 1896. His dad was a travelling minister and so they were constantly on the move. He married Octavia in Alabama November 19, 1916 and they were in Tillman County Oklahoma in 1920 and Morgan County Alabama in 1930. He will die in Houston in March 1975. Octavia is a daughter of James and Mary Briscoe and was born in Morgan County Alabama October 1, 1899 and will die in Channelview, Texas January 21, 1990.

 

BEN W. (WADE) PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 43 TX NY MS and is now an executive for a milk dairy and creamery. His wife of 19 years Frances Moore is 38 TX and they have a daughter Frances W. 12 TX. Also here are Franny’s folks, Edgar C. Moore 64 TX and Minnie Moore 60 TX. He is a son of Edgar Scott Putman (New York Dutch line) and Zelia Wade. He was in Orange County Texas in 1900 with his mother and his father had left them and went back to New York. His mom had remarried by 1920 and they were here in Houston in 1920, and Ben was married here in 1930.

 

EDWARD D. PUTMAN  Houston, Harris County

He is 48 TX TX TX and works in a garage. His wife Emma Blalock is 46 TX and they have Edward D. 16 TX. They were here in 1920 and 1930. He is a son of Silas B. Putman from Llano County. He was born May 22, 1892. In 1920 he and his wife Emma Blalock are living with his brother Fred in Houston. He will die in Austin, Travis County May 11, 1967. Emma was born October 26, 1893 and will die here in Houston September 22, 1961. Southern Putmans from Union County South Carolina then Monroe County Kentucky and Hamilton County Tennessee.

 

EDWARD L. (LEE) PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 48 LA LA LA and an accountant with an oil company. His wife Bessie Pearl Ingram is 51 TX. Also here is John Lutrell 24 NY a lodger and also an accountant and was here in 1935 with them. He is a son of Robert Spearling Putnam and Jennie Nourse from Iberia Parish, Louisiana. He and his mom and most of the family were here in 1920. Edward was born April 4, 1891 and will die here in Houston in August 1986. Pearl was born March 5, 1897 and will die here at age 100 on March 11, 1997. This line was from Massachusetts originally.

 

FRANCES PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

She is 45 TX and widowed with her sons Paul McQueen 19 TX and Frank Arthur 17 TX.  Frances McQueen was married to Paul Thrower Putnam here in 1920 and 1930. He died August 15, 1939. Paul was a son of the following Frank Arthur Putnam. Frances will die in Victoria, Texas January 28, 1987. The son Paul McQueen will marry Anne Kathryn Porter.

 

FRANK A. (ARTHUR) PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 71 OH OH OH single and lodging. He was married to Mary Agatha Thrower April 16, 1890 and they were here in 1910. He isnմ listed in 1920, but Mary and the kids are. By 1930 he is also back in Houston and both say they are widowed then. She is still here in Houston, widowed as before. He is 'widowed' from 1920 on because he cheated on his wife, lived in hotels for the rest of his life, and she only let him come home on the weekends so he could spend time with the family. He unsuccessfully ran for Governor in 1930 and 1932. He just pops up in Black Hawk County Iowa in 1870 at age 1 OH with his mother Cassie who had remarried A. J. Cashman. No idea on his dad except his name was Oscar Putnam and was from Cincinnati. Frank’s death certificate here in Houston on December 5, 1949 says he is widowed and was born in Cincinnati, Ohio August 20, 1867. His dad was Oscar Allen Putnam from Cincinnati and his mom Cassandra McElroy. He is an editor for a newspaper here in Houston. Just canմ figure who Oscar was though.

 

FREDERICK B. (BRYAN) PUTMAN  Houston, Harris County

He is 42 TX and married to Lenore M. 36 TX. She is a second wife. He was married to Ruby Warnke in Dallas in 1930 and was there in 1935. Lenore was here in 1935, so they were married in the last 4 years. He is a salesman for oil financing He is a son of Silas B. Putman from Llano County. His folks got divorced and he was with his mother in Oklahoma in 1910 and was married in Harris County in 1920.

 

HENRY E. (EMMET) PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 46 LA and his wife Nellie Gates is 40 TX. They live with her widowed mother Katie Gates 83 GA. He is a bookkeeper for an oil tool company. Henry is a son of Robert Spearing Putnam and Jennie Irene Nourse and was born in New Orleans October 3, 1893 and he married Nellie August 10, 1934. He will die in Houston December 3, 1973. New England family. Massachusetts to Tennessee to Mississippi and Louisiana.

She is 42 LA and still single. She is a clerk in an oil company. She is a daughter of James Henry Putnam, Jr. a grandson of James Mercier Putnam. He was in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana in 1900. New England folks.

He is John Hugh Putman 65 AR TN TN and is a building contractor. Mabel E. Booth his wife is 61 MO and they have their son Hugh O. 30 TX and his wife Elizabeth Frances Bean 35 TX and daughter Beverly Anne 3 TX. Young Hugh works for his dad as a builder. He is a son of William James Putman and Martha Jane Floriday from here in Houston and then back in Benton County Arkansas where he was born. They were in Houston in 1910 but were in Walker County in 1920 and then back here in 1930. His dad William died here August 15, 1928. Hugh was born February 3, 1875 in Benton County Arkansas and will die here May 2, 1961. His wife Mae is a daughter of Benjamin Booth and was born in Missouri in June 1877 and will die here in 1946. JAMES J. (JOSEPH) PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 39 TX, his wife Edna is 27 TX. They have Manuel E. 10 LA from her first marriage and then Barbara 2 TX. He is an auto and truck mechanic working in a garage. He is a son of Ansil Putnam from Maine. He has been in Angelina County with the family up till 1920 and was single Atacosa County in 1930 and single in Longview, Gregg County in 1935. He was born March 26, 1900 and will die March 19, 1972. He is buried in Lufkin. New Englander.

She is 64 IA and widowed. She is living with her married daughter Gladys Perkins 39 NE and husband R. Delmar Perkins 40 IA. Julia Bunker was married Orson Tilly Putnam in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a son of Christopher Putman. Christopher was born in Lyme, Jefferson County New York, and was a son of John Putman and Dorcas Richardson originally from Montgomery County. She is now 74 FRANCE and widowed as she was in 1930. She was married here to Frank L. Putnam from New York in 1900 and 1910. They werenմ indexed in 1920, but were here. Frank was the son of Richard Putnam and Maria Philips from Rome, Oneida County New York. He was born there September 5, 1865 and died here in Houston December 19, 1925. They were a Dutch Putman family, but used the Putnam spelling. Frank owned Putnam Water Heater Company. Her son Arthur is in Tom Green County.

Mary Agatha Thrower is 69 IA and lives alone. She says she is widowed just like her husband Frank who is here in town still. They were here in 1910 and on and got a divorce it seems. They have both been in Houston and widowed since the 1920 census. Take a look above at Frank’s entry and see kinda who he is.

He is 74 TX, his second wife Fannie Lenora Bassinger is 51 TX and her brother George Bassinger 53 TX is still with them as he was in 1920. He was first married to Lula Belle Wallace who died in 1891. Monroe is a son of Hillen and Julia Putman from Colorado County and ten Cherokee County Texas. Hillen was a son of Nimrod Putman and Sarah Dollar from Laurens County South Carolina. Their son Harry lives with them. He is 29 TX, his wife Ollie Mae Osborn is 28 TX and they have Jessie Fay 9 TX, Betty Joyce 8 TX and Harry N. Junior 4 TX.

She is 23 OK single and lodging. Says she was in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1935. She is a daughter of Charles Wesley Putnam and Lizzie Bell and was born in Tulsa and was there with her folks through 1935. She will marry an Oberfall man. Charles was a son of William Boyd Putnam and Mary Elizabeth Smith from Arkansas City, Kansas. He is 65 AR GA GA and in a hotel. He is a locomotive engineer. He was in San Antonio married to Kate Christian. They are still there now too. Pomp is a son of David Alexander Putman and Fanny Childers of Dorsey County Arkansas and a grandson of Jesse Mercer Putman of Hall County Georgia. Southern Putmans.

 

R. SHELBY PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 27 LA single and lodging. He is a truck foreman and was in New Orleans in 1935. He is listed as R. Shelley but is R. Shelby a son of Otis Israel Putnam and Hazel Farley and was at home in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana in 1930 and is also listed with his folks now in Evangeline County Louisiana. He is shown in the Tulane University Yearbook in New Orleans in 1931 and 1932. He will be appointed Postmaster in Elton, Jefferson County Louisiana May 14, 1956 for what that’s worth.

 

ROBERT S. (SPEARING) PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 45 LA and single. He is an accountant for an oil well supply company. His sister Alice I. is 50 LA and lives with him as she has. She is a public-School teacher and of course is single. They are kids of Robert Spearing Putnam and Jennile Irene Norse of Iberia Parish (1900) and Lafayette Parish (1910), Louisiana. Jennie was widowed here in 1920 and 1930. Robert Junior was born in New Iberia September 2, 1896 and will die in Hot Springs, Arkansas November 12, 1983. Alice was born February 2, 1890 and will die here in Houston in March 1969. She never married either. New England family Massachusetts to Tennessee to Mississippi to Louisiana.

He is 45 TX OK TX and an auto mechanic for the light and power company. His wife Pearl is 48 TX. He is an adopted son of Simeon Francis Putnam in Cooke County. His mother Fannie married Sim in 1904 and Silas was at home there in 1910 and married here in Houston in 1920. Silas was born October 21, 1894 and will die here in Houston in November 1969.

 

TOM PUTNAM  Houston, Harris County

He is 23 TX and his wife Willie Grace is 19 TX. He is Tom Henry Putnam a son of Percy Lee Putnam and Amber Harris Mathis from Mississippi. His folks were in Hillsboro, Hill County Texas in 1910 and canմ find in 1920. His dad Percy was born March 12, 1880 in Mississippi and died in Temple, Texas May 29, 1923. In 1930 Tom was with his widowed mother Amber in Smithville, Bastrop County. She is still in Smithville now with her widowed mother. She wonմ die till November 1962 in Austin, Texas living with her then married daughter Percy Lee. Yep name right and she is a girl this time around. Now, Percy was, I am pretty sure, a son of William Mynatt Putnam a son of Charles Caleb Putnam and Margaret Murdock and was born in Knox County Tennessee in 1845 and in New Orleans in 1840 then in Smith County Mississippi in 1850. Charles Caleb Putnam was a son of Caleb Putnam (Eben’s number 1904) and Hannah Russell from Newburyport, Massachusetts. He was born October 1, 1793. He was then Washington D.C about 1816 and married Margaret Murdock there October 17, 1820. They moved to Tennessee in 1824 and were in Knox County Tennessee in the 1830 census, then to New Orleans in 1840 and then to Smith County Mississippi in 1850. I donմ have zilch so far on Tom though.

 

MARTHA PUTMAN  Outside Houston, Harris County

She is 90 TN and widowed as she was in 1930. Martha Jane Florida was married to William James Putman from here and Wilson County Tennessee before that. William was a son of George Putman and Mary Caroline Brown from Wilson County Tennessee and into Benton County Arkansas. William died here August 15, 1928. The line goes back to Jahu Putman from South Carolina.

 

O. O. (OLAF OLSON) PUTNAM  Weinert, Haskell County

He is 31 MS and a farmer. His wife Dorothy Corrine Crompton is 20 TX and they have Particia Fay 1 TX. He was in Dallas in 1935 and Dorothy in Oklahoma so the were just married in the last couple of years. He is a son of James Leslie Putnam and Annie Harvie from Scott County Missouri. He was born there August 10, 1909 and was there in 1910 and I canմ find the family in 1920. His folks were in Dallas in 1930. Dorothy was born in Texarkana May 10, 1919 and will die in Knox City, Texas August 5, 2007. Olaf will die there August 13, 1964. Southern Putmans out of South Carolina.

 

JOE K. (KYLE) PUTMAN  Fincastle/Poyner, Henderson County

He is a public school teacher 33 TX, his wife Lucille Hall is 32 TX and they have Jo Ann 6 TX and Paula J. 11/12 TX. He is a son of William Henry Putman and Theresa Mae Curran. William is a son of William Lester Putman and Charlotte Mabry from Benton County Arkansas. They were in Kaufman County in 1900 and Anderson County in 1910 and still are there now in 1940.

 

WILLARD M. (MASON) PUTMAN  Alamo, Hidalgo County

He is 73 NY, his wife Anna E. Miller is 65 IA and their son Willard Marshall is 45 NE. Willard is a son of Peter John Putman and Jane Sparks from St. Lawrence County New York. They came out to Madison County Nebraska in the 1870s. Willard was born in Macomb, St. Lawrence County October 5, 1866. They moved over to Brown County Nebraska and he married Anna there in 1892. They were there till about 1930 and then came over here to Hidalgo County. Anna is a daughter of Henry Miller and Elizabeth Latchum and was born in Iowa August 17, 1873 and will die here in Weslaco, Hidalgo County June 18, 1946. Willard will die there May 10, 1948. The son Willard Marshall was born in Brown County Nebraska January 15, 1894 and came over here in the 1920s and operates a meat market in Alamo. He never married and will die in Weslaco May 31, 1962. Dutch family out of Montgomery County then Fulton County then St. Lawrence County New York.

 

WELLIE PUTNAM  Outside Blum, Hill County

He is 43 MS, his wife Selma Ince is 36 TX and they have Katherine 16 TX, Helen 10 TX and Wanda 7 TX. He is Wellington Millburn Putman and is a boiler maker for the steam railroad. He is a son of William Franklin Putman and Florence Lemons from Scott County Mississippi. He was born in Johnson County September 19, 1897. He married Selma Ince on June 17, 1922. He will die of emphysema December 28, 1967 in Grandview, Texas. Her widowed mother Martha Ince 61 IL lives in the house next door. His folks are here in town still too. Southern Putmans out of South Carolina to Alabama to Mississippi and then out here.

 

W. F. (WILLIAM FRANKLIN) PUTNAM  Outside Blum, Hill County

He is 73 LA, his wife Florence Lemons 72 MS and their son Burnham is now 39 MS. He is a son of Albert Gallatin Putman of Scott County Mississippi. Theyնe been in Cleburne, Johnson County for a while and just came over in the last few years. Their son Wellington is here in town too. Southern Putman family South Carolina to Alabama to Mississippi, Louisiana and then out here.

 

ESTHER PUTNAM  Hillsboro, Hill County

She is 38 TX and widowed. Her widowed father Charles Tripp 93 SC is with her. She has a couple of lodgers. Esther Tripp was married to Earl Putnam in Fort Worth in 1930. He died there April 2, 1932. Earl was a son of Albert Obediah Putman and Carrie Clinnie Crecelius from Mississippi. Southern Putmans out of South Carolina.

 

DUDLEY PUTNAM  Outside Hillsboro City, Hill County

He is 38 TX AL TX and his wife Willie Mae Griffin is 35 TX and they have James Kenneth 7 TX and Owen 5 TX. He was single here up through 1930. He is Dudley Godall Putman a son of Dudley Cicero Putman. His mother was a Conners and his dad left him with his grandfather Connors, and went to Oklahoma with a second wife. Dudley was born in Hill County Texas August 14, 1902 and will die August 5, 1979. Willie Mae Griffin was born April 16, 1904 and died in Hill County March 19, 1995.  Southern Putman family from St. Clair County Alabama.

 

WILLIE PUTMAN  Hubbard, Hill County

He is 28 TX, his wife Eula 30 TX and they have Ernestine 3 TX and William Troy 1. There are three stepchildren named Lambert from Lula’s fist marriage Mary Bernie 12 TX, John Edward 10 TX and Louise May 6 TX. They say they were in rural Hill County in 1935. He would be William Wesley Putman Jr. son of William Wesley Putman and Willie Belle Duke who are also over here in Hill County too. They have all been in Dawson, Navarro County up through 1930.

 

WILLIAM PUTMAN  Outside Hubbard, Hill County

He is 54 TX, his wife Willie Belle Duke is 49 TX. They have James 20 TX, Catherine 17 TX, and Kirksey 16 TX. Their son Audrey 27 TX and his wife Jo Ella 21 TX are here too. Their son William Wesley Jr. is in the area as well. These folks have been in Navarro County all their lives till the early 1930s. They have a daughter Annie Belle who married William Dewey Coffey in Navarro County and they are around here someplace in Hill County as they will eventually die here too. William is a son of Wesley B. Putman and Sarah Ann Chatman. Wesley was born in Morgan County Alabama was in Lawrence County Alabama then went up to Maury County Tennessee in the 1860s and out here to Navarro County in the 1870s. William was born June 17, 1885 in Navarro County. He married Willie Belle Duke there about 1918. Willie Belle was born in Texas January 5, 1891 and will die here in Hill County January 10, 1983. Wesley will die here in Hubbard June 15, 1970.

 

FRED H. (HALE) PUTNAM  Itasca, Hill County

He is 82 CAN and his wife Lula Brown 64 TX. He is a son of George Putnam and Orpha Wells and was born March 12, 1857 in Ingersoll, Oxford County Ontario. He was with his folks there in 1861 and then in Kansas City Missouri in 1870 and back up in Ontario in 1871 as his mom had just died. Then his dad remarried and went to Waco, Texas and married Sarah Angeline Tuller there June 12, 1879 and Fred is there near them in Hill County Texas 1880. He then came up to Chicago soon afterwards and married Julia Donals there in 1884. They were in Chicago in 1900 and Seattle, Washington in 1910. They were in Waco in 1930 and Dallas in 1935. Family originally from New England.

 

OLIE (OLIVER DELMAR) PUTMAN  Reilly Springs, Hopkins County

He is 34 TX TX TX and his wife Maurine Estelle Hatchett is 31 TX and they have Patsy J. 8 TX and James C. 6 TX. He owns a farm. He is a son of James Samuel Putman and Avie Pauline Calhoun. He was born in Wood County and then the whole family moved here in the 1920s.

 

BEN (BENJAMIN FRANKLIN) PUTMAN  Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County

He is 50 TX AL AL His wife Pearl Gilliam is 48 TX and they have Louis D. 23 TX, and J. D. a son 21 TX. He is a son of John Putman and Susan Jerden from here, and was in Wood County in 1920 then back here by 1930. John’s folks were James L. Putman and Rachel Susan Brown from Jackson County Alabama and the line went back to North Carolina before that. Ben was born in Franklin County October 12, 1889, there in 1900 and in Hopkins County in 1910 and Wood County in 1920. He will die in Hunt County September 4, 1953. His wife Martha Pearl Gilliam is a daughter of Frances Marion Gilliam and Mary Katherine Pruitt and was born in Reilly Springs, Hopkins County February 27, 1891. After Ben dies she will marry a Hill and will die here in Sulphur Springs February 19, 1971.

 

CHAS W. PUTNAM  Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County

He is 62 TX GA TX and is a traveling salesman for a barber company. Maggie, Margaret Frances Page, his wife is 53 TX and they have Alma 34 TX and Margaret 23 TX still at home. He is Charles Worth Putman, a son of Howard Brazelton Putman and Sophronia Manley from here. He was born October 4, 1877. Margaret Frances Page is a daughter of John and Elizabeth Page and was born in Texas April 25, 1887 and will die in Hopkins County Texas May 4, 1977. He will die here February 7, 1950 Southern Putman line descended from Ezekiel Putman from South Carolina and then Hall County Georgia.

 

HOWARD PUTNAM  Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County

He is now 57 TX and his widowed sister Julia Odom 66 TX is with him as she was in 1930. He owns his farm. He is Howard Manley Putman, a son of Howard Brazelton Putman and Sophronia Josephine Manley from here. He was born September 12, 1882 and will die here August 25, 1972

 

JAMES S. (SAMUEL) PUTNAM  Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County

He is now 55 TX and his wife Avis ‘AvieCalhoun is 50 TX and the kids are gone now. He runs a retail grocery store and Avie is a clerk and saleslady there. He is a son of John Putman and Sarah Jerden from Grayson County and then Franklin County by 1900. John was a son of James L. Putman and Rachel Susan Brown from Williamson County Tennessee. Family is out of North Carolina. Southern Putmans.

He is 43 TX, divorced and has Cecil 22 TX and John W. 18 TX with him. Canմ figure them out. Donմ think they are Putnams or Putmans.

He is 24 TX, his second wife Bessie Fern Freeman is 20 TX and they have Thurman Wayne 3 TX and Joyce G. 11/12 TX. He was previously married to Frieda Mae Smith in the early 1930s. He was single at home in the 1930 census. They were just married in the last 4 years as he was here in 1935 and she was in Upshur County. He is an iceman for an ice manufacturer. He is a son of Benjamin Franklin Putman and Pearl Gilman living here.

 

JAMES E. (ELMO) PUTMAN  White Oak outside Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County

He is a tenant farmer 31 TX, his wife Reba Fay Britt is 27 TX and they have Dwane L. 3 TX and Bobby J. 2 TX. He is a son of James Samuel Putman and Avis Calhoun. They have been in Wood County up till 1930 when they came over here. James Elmo was born about1909 and will die in Dallas in 1967. Reba was born January 8, 1913 and will die here in Sulphur Springs in 1997. Southern Putmans North Carolina to Alabama to Tennessee to Mississippi and then out here.

 

PEARL PUTNAM  Crockett City, Houston County

She is 33 TX and has Nora L. 5 CA and Julie A. 1 CA. She is living with her widowed mother Nora McCarty. They were in Los Angeles in 1935. Pearl Frances McCarty is/was married to Robert Burchard Putnam. He will die in 1949, and she will marry Carl Christy December 5, 1953. She is a daughter of William Michael McCarty and Nora Virginia Oliphant and was born in Houston August 20, 1906 and will die in Woodland, Texas May 16, 1987. Then, got lucky. In 1930 Robert B. 24 WI was in Burbank, Los Angeles County with his folks Kirk Mills Putnam and Martha Ellis and had a wife of one year Pearl M. 23 TX. BINGO! His dad Kirk is a son of Robert Wiley and Julia Putnam and was born in Leavenworth, Kansas. They were married in Milwaukee County Wisconsin in 1900 and in Minneapolis Minnesota in 1920. His dad was a son of John Putnam and Sabrina Wiley from Lowell Massachusetts. They are in Pasadena now in 1940. New Englanders.

 

DAVID PUTMAN  Clinton, Hunt County

He is 20 TX and his wife Georgia is 16 TN. He looks like the son of Clarence Putman and Esther Crossland from Hopkins County. Those folks have moved over here to Hunt County and that David is age 20 and single with his folks. Maybe with a wife this young he is hiding her from his folks

 

RAY (RAYMOND CUELL) PUTMAN  Floyd, Hunt County

He is 44 TX, his wife Eula Lee Young is 44 TX and his widowed father James D. 75 MS is with him as they were in 1930. Ray is a son of James David Putman and Corrie Ellen Phillips from Mississippi. His mother just died here January 28, 1940 and his dad was born in Pontotoc County Mississippi March 22, 1866 and will die in Copeville, Collin County on April 10, 1949.  Ray was born in Copeville April 1, 1897. He married Eula there in 1916 and they were with his folks there in 1920. Eula was born in Ellis County Texas January 6, 1895 and will die in Dallas March 11, 1963. Ray will die here in Hunt County November 30, 1959. Southern Putman family South Carolina to Alabama to Mississippi to here in Texas.

 

C. STEVE PUTMAN  Greenville, Hunt County

Charles Sylvester is 48 TX TN TN and his wife Mavis Edna Stinebaugh is also 48 TX. They have J. G. a son 20 TX, Charlie W. 18 TX, Billie Jo a daughter 15 TX, Jack 13 TX, Wanda Fay 10 TX, Weldon Ray 7 TX and Leroy 3 TX. He is a supervisor at a relief warehouse. Sounds like a food pantry from Depression days. He is a son of George Putman and Laura Bell Simmons from Collin County. He was born February 18, 1893 and will die December 30, 1975. He married Maves Stinebaugh June 2, 1916, and they were in Collin County Texas in the 1920 census and here in Hunt County in 1930. She was born March 28, 1893 and will die July 17, 1985. The son Charlie was born June 9, 1921 and will die here July 10, 1959. Southern line from Jefferson County Tennessee and North Carolina before that.

 

JAS. F. (JAMES FRANKLIN) PUTNAM  Greenville, Hunt County

He is 54 TX and single and so is his brother Jesse Grady 42 TX. Their widowed mother Laura 73 TN is also with them. They were all here in 1930 too. Laura Bell Simmons is the widow of George L. Putman from Jefferson County Tennessee. They have been in Collin County since the 1880s through 1920 and then here. Southern Family of course.

HE is 23 TX and married to Helen Fay Watson 16 TX. They live with her folks A. C. and Sallie Watson from Texas. Best guess is he is Eugene Putman son of Cuel Raymond and Eula Putnam as shown in 1920 in Collin County. Southern folks out of North Carolina.

 

LONNIE S. (SAMUEL ALONZO) PUTMAN  Greenville, Hunt County

He is 34 TX, his wife Willie Jewell Howell is 29 TX and their daughter Bonnie L. is 3 TX. He is a laborer on the City streets. He is a son of George L. Putnam and Laura Belle Simmons and was here in 1930 with his widowed mother and in Collin County up till then. He was born November 10, 1906 and will die here in April 1982. Southern Putmans from the Jefferson County Tennessee gang.

 

C. (CLARENCE) PAUL PUTMAN  Kingston/Merit, Hunt County

He is an agent for a road construction company, probably a W.P.A. one. He is 44 TX, his wife Esther Mae Crossland is 38 TX and they have David 20 TX, Edwin 13 TX, Bonnie Mae 8 TX and Sarah Elizabeth 2 TX. He is a son of John Putman and Susan Jerden. He was born November 29, 1896 in Franklin County and moved to Hopkins County by 1910. Then was in Wood County in 1920 then back to Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County by 1930 and there in 1935. His dad John’s folks were James L. Putman and Rachel Susan Brown from Jackson County Alabama and the line went back to North Carolina before that. Paul was born November 29, 1896 in Franklin County and moved to Hopkins County by 1910. The census has his name as C. Paul, but I have seen a couple of family trees that have the name Pithies not Paul which I think is correct. They have a dual listing in Clinton, Hunt County and he is listed as just Clarence.

 

VIRGIL T. (TAYLOR) PUTMAN  Wolfe City, Hunt County

He is 70 MS NC AL and his wife Sarah Frances Miller is 66 TX. They have William (Willie Wylie) 47 TX an automobile Mechanic and still at home. Virgil was born in Noxubee County Mississippi April 3, 1872, and was here in 1900 and in Fannin County in 1910 and 1920 and back here by 1930. Virgil is a son of Lorenzo Dow and Kate Putman from here and Calhoun County Mississippi before that. He will die here July 26, 1948. He married Sarah March 3, 1890. Sarah was born January 14, 1873 and will die here January 25, 1947. The son Willie was born here in Wolfe City July 3, 1893 and will die here April 12, 1944. He never did marry. RUBY PUTNAM  Antelope, Jack County

She is 35 TX and a housekeeper for Robert Ball. She was in Wichita Falls in 1935. Looks like the gal who was listed as divorced and a nurse at the sate hospital in Austin, Travis County in 1930.

 

C. E. (CLAUDE EDWIN) PUTNAM  Jacksboro, Jack County

He is 45 TX, his wife Josephine Maude Stewart is 37 TX. He is a son of Owen Heath Putnam and Mary Emily Eddy and was born in Hamilton County July 23, 1883 and will die here in Jacksboro August 11, 1947. Maude was born in Jack County November 16, 1892 and will die in Austin, Texas April 22, 1967. His dad Owen is a son of Stephen Carlos Putnam from Hanover, New Hampshire and will die in Hamilton County September 29, 1941. New Englanders.

He is 66 TX PA PA and he owns a farm. His wife Abigail Whitley is 53 TX and they have a son Tillie N. 21 TX, James Porter 19 TX and Samuel W. 8 TX. He is Royal Augustus Putnam a son of Perley Porter Putnam and Martha Ellen Marvin and was born here. His dad was a son of Thomas Putnam and Zilpha Miller Porter from Covington, Tioga County Pennsylvania. Been here all his life. New England Family.

 

JULIA PUTNAM  Vaderbilt, Jackson County

She is 45 TX and widowed. She is a housekeeper. Julia Victoria Bailik has been married to Tillie Thomas Putnam in Edna since 1921. He died there May 26, 1938. Tillie was a son of Perley Porter Putnam and Martha Ellen Marvin and was born in Edna. New England family out of Pennsylvania. Julia’s folks were from Austria and Germany.

She is 33 TX MI LA and divorced. She is a saleslady in a department store. She was shown here in 1910 with her dad Fred Eugene Putman from Michigan. In 1920 and 1930 she was living with her mother Anna and stepfather George Hilmer. I guess she got married and then split and took back her maiden name. New England family Massachusetts to Vermont, New  York, Michigan and here.

He is 36 AR and an auto mechanic. His wife Esther 24 AR and they have Howard 3 TX. I canմ figure him out.

 

FRED W. (WILLIAM) PUTNAM  Port Arthur, Jefferson County

He is 43 VA PA PA and a manager of a theater. His wife Isabelle is 33 VA and they have Jacqueline 14 VA and Barbara Ann 7 TX. They were here in 1930, but Jackie wasnմ with them then. She was living as a daughter of Mary Radford. Wonder if she was from a prior marriage that Fred had. He is Frederick William Willard Putnam Jr. a son of Frederick and Carrie Putnam from Richmond Virginia where he was born. His dad Frederick William Willard Putman was a son of Willard Putman and Ellen Ragan from Syracuse, New York and then Richmond, Virginia. Willard operated a Burlesque theater in Richmond. Willard was a son of David Putman and Ann Vrooman from Montgomery then Onondaga County New York. Dutch family out of New York State.

He is 45 PA, his wife Jessie Gertrude Allio is 38 PA and they have Jean 9 TX, Robert 6 TX and Barbara 4 TX. They were just married in 1929 and here in 1930. He is and has been a worker in one of the many oil refineries in the area. He is a Junior a son of Homer Manley Putnam and Bella Chase from Warren Pennsylvania. He’s been there up till 1929. He was born January 26, 1895 and will die here in Port Arthur in January 1978. Jessie was born May 1, 1903 and will die in La Mesa, Texas in January 1983. New England Family.

 

ROGER PUTNAM  Alice, Jim Wells County

He is 44 TX and widowed. Says he was here in 1935. He is a son of Thomas Putnam and his wife Jeanette Rosenthaler and was born in Austin, Texas January 3, 1894 and was at home in Austin, Travis County in 1900, 1910, Cedar Valley as an adopted son in 1920. He married Cora Inez Stegall there October 19, 1920. In 1930 he is still with his adopting parents George D. and Marsha Hirsher, but no Cora. His dad’s folks were Isiah and Eliza Putnam from England.

 

RUTH PUTNAM  Alice, Jim Wells County

She is 35 KY and divorced. She lives with her married sister Cabita 33 KY and husband Christian Warbington 48 TX and her mother Bertha Axon 55 KY. So her last name is Axon. The other two guys in town are missing wives so she might belong to one of them. She owns and operates a retail office supply store.

 

WALTER FLOYD PUTNAM  Alice, Jim Wells County

He is a rig welder for a petroleum company and is 34 CO and married. He was in Kansas City, Missouri in 1935. He is a son of William Ford Putnam and his second wife Maud from Illinois. They were there in Fulton County in 1910 and then in Kansas City from 1920 on. I donմ have any info on who he is married to. This is a family from Hanover, New Hampshire that went to Ohio, Illinois then Marion County Kansas.

 

ALBERT L. (LEMONS) PUTMAN  Cleburne, Johnson County

He is 45 MS, his wife Irene Russell is 30 TX and her widowed mother Nova Russell 62 AR is with them. He is a son of William Franklin Putman and Eunice Lemons from Scott County Mississippi where he was born. The family came here by 1920. He was born October 20, 1893 (1894 in WWI Draft Registration). He just married Irene Russell in 1940 in Cleburne. He will die of tuberculosis on November 18, 1946. There were no children. Southern family out of Abbeville County South Carolina.

 

BENJAMIN S. (SOLOMON) PUTNAM  Cleburne, Johnson County

He is a mechanic in the repair shop at Southwestern Junior College here in town. He is 24 TX, his wife Helen Grace Bryan is 20 LA and they have Jere Wayne 2 TX and Scottie Gayle a daughter 11/12 TX. He is a son of Charles Dewitt Putnam and Linney Cochran and was born in Hahn, Wharton County October 29, 1915 and was at home there in 1930 and here in 1935. He will die in Keene, Johnson County December 12, 2004. Helen is a daughter of Henry Sharpe Bryan and Leona McCain and was born August 4, 1916 in Shreveport, Louisiana and will also die in Keene December 3, 2002. His grandfather DeWitt Putman was a son of Levi and Charlotte Lobdell Putman, and was born in Grundy County Illinois. His grandparents are Philip Putman and Lucretia Noble from Jefferson County New York. Dutch family out of Montgomery County New York.

He is 55 MS and his wife Nellie Stewart is 51 MS. He is a son of Albert Gallatin Putman and Charlotte McKnight of Scott County Mississippi. They were there in 1910 and here in 1920 and 1930. Southern Putmans.

He is 27 MS single and boarding. He is a bookkeeper for Clay Building Company. He is a son of Joseph Levy Putman and Nellie Stewart from here. Junius was born June 21, 1912 in Mississippi and will die December 21, 1992 here in Cleburne. Joseph is a son of Albert Gallatin Putman and Charlotte McKnight of Scott County Mississippi. They were there in 1910 and here in 1920 and 1930. Southern Putmans.

 

MONROE PUTMAN  Cleburne, Johnson County

He is 33 MS and a dairy farmer. His wife Annie Mae Dobson is 29 AR and they have Bobby Wess (Robert Wesley) 5 TX. He is Monroe Ellis a son of Wesley Monroe Putman and Della Crecelius from here. Monroe Ellis was born November 10, 1905 in Scott County Mississippi, and will be here till he dies October 6, 1971. Southern Putman family.

 

EDGAR C. (CHARLES) PUTMAN  Joshua, Johnson County

He is 57 MS MS MS. Eva Mae Waldrop his wife is 56 GA. They have Mary 21 TX, and Jack 16 TX still at home. He is a son of James W. Putman and Martha J. Murphy from Choctaw County Mississippi. The whole family has been here since about 1908. Charlie seems to have retired from the steam railway but Eva is the proprietor of a caf. Southern Putman family.

 

CHARLES E. (EDGAR) PUTMAN (JR) Joshua, Johnson County

He is 28 TX and his wife Edna Irene Bandy is 26 TX. He is a fireman for the gas company. He is Charles Edgar Jr. a son of Charles Edgar Putman and Eva Mae Waldrop from here. He was born here July 9, 1911. He married Edna here June 10, 1938. She is a daughter of George Otis Bandy and Edith Marion Love and was born July 16, 1913 and will die in Irving, Texas July 24, 2009. Charlie will die in Cleburne, Johnson County April 29, 1975. They will have Charles Edgar III here next year on July 22, 1941.

 

WILLIAM E. (EARL) PUTMAN  Joshua, Johnson County

He is 46 MS MS MS and a farmer. He has been married 16 years to Dollye Maupin 35 TX. They have Ruth 12 TX and Hubert 10 TX. He is a son of James William Putman and Martha Jane Murphy who died in 1918. His dad James died here March 27, 1937. Will was born August 10, 1893 and will die here April 26, 1973. Dollye is a daughter of W. Coleman and Frances L. Maupin and was born July 9, 1904 and will die here in Joshua, Johnson County November 15, 1992. They are from Choctaw County Mississippi. They are in Siskiyou County California in 1942 when he registered for the draft at age 48. Southern Putman family.

He is 38 TX single and boarding. He is a clerk in a furniture store. He is a son of James Harvey Putnam and Rena Byrd Lintrap. He was born in Eastland County Texas about 1901.

 

JAMES P. PUTNAM  Hamlin, Jones County

He is 62 (no birth state) and his wife Joe Ella is 63 AL. He is on a pension. Says here in 1935, but canմ find either one of them earlier.

 

S. O. (SIDNEY OTTO) PUTNAM  Hamlin, Jones County

He is a crop farmer 38 AR, his wife Gladys May Kelso is 32 MO and they have Andrew Bedford 9 TX, Robert Bryce 5 TX, Glena Lanell 3 TX and Anna Irene 11/12 TX. He is a son of James Howard Putnam and Anna Bowermaster from Oregon County Missouri and the stone County Arkansas where Sidney was born October 21, 1901. He married Gladys in Roby, Texas January 1, 1927. She was born in Union County Missouri May 30, 1907 and will die in Abilene, Taylor County Texas November 6, 1996. Sidney will die here in Hamlin March 5, 1983. Southern Putmans Missouri back to Obian County Tennessee to Jabel Putman and Laurena Lamb from Union County South Carolina.

 

TOM R. (THOMAS ROGERS) PUTNAM  Lueders, Jones County

He is 54 TX TX TX. His wife Eunice Gertrude Smart is 44 TX and they have Mary Alice 17 TX at home. He is a son of Joseph Barnet Putman and Julia McGinnis from Caldwell County. He was a banker in Lueders, Texas. He died in a Dallas hospital on March 8, 1959. Gertrude died April 4, 1968. In 1920 and 1930, they are in Jones County Texas. From his granddaughter, ҈e was the President of the bank in Lueders during the depression years. His bank was one of a handful in Texas that did not close its doors, nor did he foreclose on anyone's property or business during that era. I did not realize the significance of this or how well thought of he was until his funeral in 1959. People for all over Texas came to Lueders...the church was filled and hundreds of people lined the streets to pay their respects as we drove from the church. We never saw anything like it in the history of the town.  He is still remembered.ӊThe daughter Mary Alice was born in 1923. She will marry Robert Vanderventer in 1950. Southern Putmans from Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

J. H. (JOSIAH HENNIS) PUTMAN  Stanford, Jones County

He is 65 TN AL TN and his wife Martha Lou Raines is 66 AL. Their married daughter Ruth 40 TX, her husband L. C. Offutt 31 TX and their three kids are here now with them. He is a son of John Royer and Rachel Putman from Navarro County. They have been there up until 1930 when they were here. He is a farmer. He was born in Maury County Tennessee June 4, 1973 and will die here in Stanford September 18, 1940. He married Martha in 1895. She was born in Alabama May 18, 1873 and will die at her son Charles home in Lubbock, Texas November 2, 1943. Southern Putmans.

 

LUTHER L. (LEGAIT) PUTMAN  Precinct 4 near Elmo, Kaufman County

He is 56 AL AL AL and a night watchman on a farm to market road. His wife Bessie Mings is 56 TX and they have Ruby 32 TX. He is a son of John Forney Putman and Nancy Cox from Marion County Alabama. He was born there February 14, 1884 and will die here in Terrell, Kaufman County August 18, 1963. Bessie is a daughter of Marion Franklin Mings and Jennie Artimas Pierce and was born in Hunt County Texas July 26, 1887 and will die in Terrell February 12, 1974. The family was in Wood County Texas in 1900 and here from 1910 on.

 

ALVIN PUTMAN  Precinct 4 near Muddy Cedar Creek, Kaufman County

He is 27 TX single and lives with his married sister Addie Morgan 32 TX and her husband Alvie Morgan 35 TX. He was in rural Collins County in 1935. Okay he is/was really Alvin Taylor. His mom Jessie married James Fletcher in Plano, Collin County and in 1930 he was one of her 8 kids living with them. He obviously has changed his name since then. James is a son of John Forney Putman and Nancy Cox from Marion County Alabama.

 

DEWEY PUTMAN  Precinct  4 near Muddy Cedar Creek, Kaufman County

He is a driver of an ice truck and is 24 TX and his wife Fannie Mae is 21 TX. He is a son of Luther Putman and Bessie Mings for here in Kaufman County. Luther is a son of John Forney Putman and Nancy Cox from Marion County Alabama.

 

ABNER PUTMAN  Boerne, Kendall County

He is 68 TX US US and his wife Theda Babcock is  61 MN. He not working any more. He is a son of William Putman and Adeline Gibson from Gonzales County.  The family was here in Kendall County in 1880. He married Martha Hickson and they were in Custer County Montana in 1900 and both were there but divorced in 1910. He then married Theda Babcock Hussey and they were in Prairie County Montana in 1920 and are back here now. Abner was born in November 1871 and will die in San Antonio November 21, 1946. Theda Estella Babcock was born in Minnesota April 10, 1879 and will die in San Antonio May 30, 1961. He is 53 TX AL TX and is a farmer. His wife Cora Olive Culpeper is 53 TX. They have Harvey Isaac 25 TX, Ida Corrine 21 TX and Lynn a son 15 TX. He is a son of John Washington Putman and his second wife Lou Quigg from Llano County. Daniel was born there August 2, 1886 and will be here until he dies August 26, 1946. Cora is a daughter of Francis and Eliza Culpeper and was born January 12, 1887 and will die in Boone County Indiana November 26, 1964. She will move up there with her daughter Corrine who will marry Donald Raymond Rutherford September 24, 1942 in Oklahoma. Southern Putman family.

 

ED E. (EARL EUGENE) PUTMAN  Llano, Llano County

He is 42 TX, his wife Bessie Blanche Sisssel 32 AR and they have Earl Eugene Junior 10 TX and Melvin Ernest 4 TX. He is a son of Ansel Smith Putnam and Rose Ellen Bishop, originally from Maine. He was born in Angelina County Texas on February 27, 1898 and will die in Austin March 28, 1974. He married Bessie in Miller County Arkansas April 9, 1926 and they were in Medina County Texas in 1930. Bessie is a daughter of George R. Sissel and Grace Fontaine and was born in Sevier County Arkansas March 20, 1908, and will in Williamson County Texas November 20, 2000. His dad Ansel just popped up in Guilford, Piscataquis County Maine in 1860 at age 6 and was living with a Wright family, so no ideas as to his folks. New England family though.

 

W. B. (WILLIAM BADY) PUTMAN  Llano, Llano County

He is 53 TX TX TX and now owns an electrical shop. His wife Mary Jane Raines is 48 TX and their daughter Minnie is 15 TX. Also here is his brother George 58 TX who is listed as being single but was listed here in 1930 as being widowed. He is a son of Samuel Houston Putman and Mary Elizabeth Chew. He was born July 17, 1886, and will die here November 5, 1964. Mary Jane was born in Texas August 30, 1890 and will die here in Llano July 20, 1971. They were all here in 1920, in Kendall County before that. His brother George was born February 6, 1880 and will die here August 8, 1955. CHARLES A. (ANDERSON) PUTMAN  Outside of Lubbock, Lubbock County

He is 43 TX TN AL and is a cement mixer for a W.P.A. public works. His wife Una Granville English is 39 TX and in their 20 years of marriage they have Edwin C. 18 TX, Charles A. 16 TX, John H. (Hennis) 14 TX, Eva W. 11 TX, Laura J. 10 TX and Joe C. 4 TX. He is a son of Josiah Hennis Putman and Martha Lou Raines from Navarro County. He was born October 10, 1896 and will die in Lubbock October 12, 1982. Una was born March 6, 1901 and will die in Lubbock August 11, 1987. They were in Haskell County in 1930 and Stanford, Jones County in 1935. Southern Putmans.

He is 34 TX and his wife Willie Mabel Summers 32 OK. He is a son of Samuel Putman and Martha Delanie Stevens from here. He was at home here in 1910 and 1920. He owns an automobile repair garage. He was born here March 13, 1906 and will die here in Waco April 3, 1987. Willie was born October 10, 1908 and will die in Waco July 20, 2000. Southern Putmans North Carolina to Alabama to here.

 

L. D. (LORENZO DOW) PUTNAM  Waco, McLennan County

He is 40 NC NC NC (NC NC AL) and an automobile mechanic who owns and operates his own garage. His wife Winnie Mae Roberts is 32 TX and they have L. D. (Lorenzo Dow Junior) 14 TX, Betty Lou 7 TX and Thomas 4 TX. They will next have Molly Faye in 1941 and Vera Amelia in 1945. He is Lorenzo Dow a son of Samuel Putman and Martha Delaney Stevens from Cleveland County North Carolina and then here by 1910 and still here now. He was born July 17, 1899. He married Winnie Mae Roberts in 1924. Winnie was born in Mount Vernon, Texas June 1, 1907 and died here July 26, 2004. He will die here January 22, 1972.

He is 69 NC NC NC and his wife Martha Delaney Stevens is 72 AL. He is now retired in his own home. He is a son of Lorenzo Dow Putman and Margaret Ann Forbes from Cleveland County North Carolina. They were in Cleburne County Alabama in 1900 and here since 1910.

 

FRED W. (WAGNER) PUTMAN  Outside Waco, McLennan County

He is 42 AL NC AL, his wife Cora Edna Thompson is 39 OK and they have Martha Mae 11 TX. He is a son of Samuel Putman and Martha Delaney Stevens from Cleveland County North Carolina and then here by 1910 and still here now. Fred was born in Cleburne County Alabama October 10, 1897 and will die in Waco in January 1980. Cora was born April 13, 1900 and will also die in Waco in August 1978.

 

LLOYD L. (LESLIE) PUTMAN  Natalia, Medina County

He is 46 TX TX TX and now owns a farm. His wife Ollie Mae Willis is 42 TX and they have Loydiene Colleen 16 OK, Margery Jo 14 OK, Billy D. 12 OK, Patsy Delores 10 OK, Nue Joy 8 OK, Shirley 5 OK and a son Bobby 1 TX. He is a son of Elias Putman and Maude Kedney from Young County Texas. He was there in 1900 and in Hill County Texas in 1910. I donմ find him in 1920 but they were in Elk City, Beckham County Oklahoma in 1930 through 1935 at least. He was born March 11, 1894 in Graham, Young County and will die in Oklahoma City June 14 1966. Ollie or Ollye is a daughter of William and Ida Willis and was born in Collin County Texas January 2, 1897 and will die in Corpus Christi, Texas June 8, 1975. Southern Putmans that go back to Abe Putman in Cherokee County Georgia and his dad Ezekiel Putman from Georgia and South Carolina before that. Ezekiel was my Daniel’s brother.

 

CHARLIE B. (BILL) PUTMAN  Colorado City, Mitchell County

He is 63 TX GA TN and he is a truck driver. His son Edd (Edgar Lee) is 35 TX. He is a son of William Jacob Putman Jr. and Betty Ann Farmer. He was born Tarrant County and was in Coleman County since the 1910 and then here in 1930. He has been married to Emily Alice Strickland up through 1930. He says he is now single. Emily died here October 7, 1938. Bill was born November 1, 1876 and will die here February 22, 1954. Ed was born November 20, 1904 and will die here in Colorado City August 17, 1974. CHARLIE V. (VERNON) PUTMAN  Colorado City, Mitchell County

He is a son of Charles Putman and Emily Strickland and was with the family here n 1930. He is 31 TX and his wife Cleta is 26 TX and Cleta’s daughter from a prior marriage, Virginia French, is 10 TX. Charlie was born February 24, 1909. He died in San Luis Obispo, California April 20, 1973. He is a laborer for the R.E.A. His dad and brother Edgar are still here in town now too.

 

WILLIAM H. (HENRY) PUTNAM  Westbrook, Mitchell County

He is 52 AL AL AL and rents a farm. His wife Florence Buckner is 49 AL and they have Florence 17 TX and Dorothy R. 13 TX. He is William Henry Putman a son of Andrew Putman and Rachel Pierce from Blount County Alabama where he was born in 1888. He was home in 1900 in Alabama and in Ellis County Texas in 1910 and in Scurry County in 1920. He will die in Scurry, Texas April 5, 1950.

 

MAURICE PUTNAM  St. Joseph City, Montague County

She is 22 TX and was in Dent County in 1935. She is a public-school teacher so of course is single like her roommate. She is Julia Maurese Putnam a daughter of Thomas Rodgers Putnam and Eunice Gertrude Smart and was with them in Jones County in 1920 and 1930. She was born June 3, 1917 and will soon marry Stanly Livingston Vinson in 1944 and probably have to leave teaching Southern Putmans from Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

HIRAM PUTNAM  Outside Conroe City, Montgomery County

He is 62 GA GA GA and owns a retail store. His wife Eula Paola Everett is 60 GA. He is a son of Francis Allen Putman and Henrietta Sanson of Spaulding County Georgia. He has been here since the early 1900s. He was born in 1879 and will die in Clarkwood, Nueces County Texas August 5, 1946. Eula will die there March 19, 1950. JENNIE PUTMAN  Corsicana, Navarro County

She is 31 TX single and a nurse at a hospital. She was in El Paso in 1930 and 1935 where she was a student nurse at the Masonic Hospital. She is a daughter of Marcus Green Putman and Annie Walker from Hill County. Southern Putmans.

 

CLAUDE G. (GUY) PUTMAN  Precinct 1, Navarro County

He is 42 TX and a hired hand at the State Orphan Home. His wife Jewell Mae Lewis is 37 TX and a matron at the Home. He is a son of John Anderson Putman and Frances Jane McCulough from here. He was born July 8, 1897 and will die March 18, 1958. He married Jewell Mae Lewis on December 23, 1920. She was born May 21, 1902 and will die here January 15, 1942. He then will marry Louise Wommack on June 27, 1943. After he died, Louise later married Paul Miller and died in March 2011. There were no children in either marriage.

He is 42 TX and a farmer. His wife Virginia ‘Virgie’ Marie Chunn is 36 TX and their daughter Laverne is 13 TX. He is a son of John Royer Putman and his second wife Mary Ann Eliza Warden. He was born here June 9, 1897.

He is 48 TX, his wife Izora French is 41 TX and they have Buell Lee 19 TX and Roberta 14 TX. Buell will soon marry Virginia Juanita Hollifield. George is a son of John Royer Putman and his second wife Mary Ann Eliza Warden. He was born here February 23, 1892 and will die February 10, 1984. He married Izora French on December 16, 1917. Izora was born July 23, 1898 and she will die April 13, 1984.

 

WILL PUTMAN  Outside Dawson, Navarro County

He is 72 TN AL GA and retired. His wife Lou Ellen McCullough is 64 AL. He is William Hennis Putman a son of Charles Anderson Putman and Susan Elizabeth James from Morgan County Alabama. Anderson died here in Texas June 5, 1912. Susie died here March 12, 1938 at age 91. Will was born in Tennessee May 16, 1868 and will die of tuberculosis in Lynn County Texas May 15, 1949. Lou Ellen was born April 5, 1877 and died February 7, 1969.

Artie Newton Putman is a son of John Anderson Putman and Fannie Jane McCulloch and was born here. He was born September 27, 1895 and died March 2, 1982. He married Hettie Lou Oden on July 15, 1917. She was born December 13, 1897 and died December 13, 1989. The son Chester Doyle was born June 10, 1918 and died in Corsicana, Texas September 3, 2008. His wife Catherine was born January 4, 1920 and died in Corsicana on June 9, 2004. Glendon Douglas was born October 7, 1924 and died August 26, 2004. He married Hazel Marie Griffin on October 20, 1944. She was born September 16, 1927 and died May 12, 1994. William Ralph was born August 4, 1929. He will marry Lilliam Geraldean Minefee and they lived in Corsicana. She was born March 1, 1931 and died November 13, 2010. Ralph was still alive at that time. Donald Lee was born July 22, 1936 and died in Jefferson, Texas November 15, 2004. The daughter Peggy Jane Putman Cannon, is the one who supplied the information on this family.

 

CECIL PUTMAN  Outside Emmett-Rush Prairie, Navarro County

He is 28 TX and his wife Virgie Rene Raley is 29 TX. He is a son of John Anderson Putman and Frances Jane McCulough from here. He was born June 21, 1911. He married Virgie Rene Raley on December 22, 1934 and they had two daughters, Patsy and Peggy Putman. Virgie died on January 24, 1976 and Cecil remarried Celestine Prendergrass Lanier on November 6, 1976. He died in Corsicana January 12, 1994 and Celestine died in October 1996. He is a son of John Anderson Putman and Fannie Jane McCulloch and was born here born December 21, 1899 and will die here January 31, 1982. He married Mary Jewell Lewis on December 21, 1921. She was born May 20, 1902 and will die August 2, 1973. After she dies he will marry Mary Lee Lonsford here on September 4, 1975. The eldest son of John Royer Putman and Rachel James is now 72 TN AL GA and owns his farm. His wife Fannie McCulloch just died on March 26, 1939. Also here is his married daughter Lois E. Key 31 TX and her husband William A. Key 31 TX. Also his son Alvis 37 TX is here. John was born December 18, 1867 in Maury County Tennessee. He married Fannie Jane McCulloch in Texas on January 25, 1891. Fannie was born in Morgan County Alabama on April 16, 1874. She was a daughter of William Harve McCulloch and Margaret Lou Linton. He will die June 7, 1947 and Fannie died on March 26, 1939. Southern Putmans of course. Alvis was born February 15, 1903 and will die April 17, 1971. He will marry Eula Leona Moseley on March 11, 1949. She was born November 22, 1911 and will die July 9, 2006 in Midland, Texas. Lois was born December 13, 1908 and died November 23, 1967. She married William Alexander Key on December 22, 1935.

She was born November 3, 1897 and will die August 2, 1980. The son Wendell was born April 26, 1922 and will die in Purdon, Texas on January 7, 1989. OTIS LEE PUTMAN  Outside Emmett-Rush Prairie, Navarro County

He is a farmer 33 TX, his wife Eva Oleta Putman a cousin is 23 TX and they have Lester Lee 2 TX. He is a son of William Hennis Putman and Lou Ellen McCullough and was born here in 1906. Eva Oleta is a daughter of Edgar Lee Putman and Eva Clark from here. She was born August 31, 1916. She first married B. C. Onstott. She later married Otis Lee Putman. She died in Navarro County June 12, 1992.

 

JUNUS PUTNAM  Outside Frost Town, Navarro County

He is 24 TX and lives with his mother Elmo 45 TX who has married Paul Goodman 47 TX. They were all here in 1930. Lon Flemon Putnam married Elmo Minola Mallard in Hill County Texas December 20, 1914. Lon Junus was born October 7, 1915 and they were somewhere in Texas in 1920, but the state had horrible handwriting census takers. Lon will get married and be in Denver Colorado and be around there the rest of his life and die in Jefferson County Colorado May 2, 1998. His dad Lonnie Flemon Putnam was a son of James Winston Putman and Mary Elizabeth Lindsey and was born in Hill County Texas November 5, 1890 and married Willie Myrtle Adams in Johnson County Texas May 3, 1912. Didn’t work out so he married Eleanor Minola Mallard in Hill County Texas December 20, 1914. The son Lon was born about 9 months later on October 7, 1915. James Winston was a son of Martin Putman and Mahulda Dorches from South Carolina.

 

CLARENCE D. (DAFFIN) PUTMAN  Outside Purdon, Navarro County

He is 33 TX TN AL widowed and rents a farm. He is a son of John Anderson Putman and was born here July 4, 1906. He has a daughter Daffin 6 TX and is living as a son in law of Mollie Davis. He married Eunice Compton on September 22, 1928. Eunice died April 29, 1935 and Mollie must be her twice widowed mommy. Clarence will soon marry Loretta Bennett on June 7, 1941. Clarence will die in Navarro County on March 22, 1980. Loretta was a schoolteacher and was born January 12, 1914 in Navarro County and will die here August 27, 2005.

 

HAL J. (JOHN) PUTMAN  Corpus Christi, Nueces County

He is 32 TX and his wife Signa Eva Pope is 22 AR. He is an auditor and also a lawyer at a wholesale glass company. He is a son of Pompei Wellington Putman and Agnes Kate Christian and was born about 1908 in San Antonio. Pomp is a son of David Alexander Putman and Fanny Childers of Dorsey County Arkansas and a grandson of Jesse Mercer Putman of Hall County Georgia. Southern Putmans. Hal has a twin Harold D. who is still in San Antonio. His wife Signa is a daughter of Heard Charles Pope and Maude Marguerite Stratton and was born in Towele, Arkansas January 23, 1918 and will die in San Antonio February 2, 1993.

 

ELBERT E. (ECHOLS) PUTMAN  Corpus Christi, Nueces County

He is 38 FL and his wife Evelyn Tuck 32 TX and they have Barbara 1/12 TX. He is a maintenance foreman for a petroleum pipeline company. He is the son of Lee Hiram Putnam and Ella Paola Everett and was at home in Montgomery County Texas in 1910 and 1920 and was married in Waller County in 1930. He was born in Chipley, Florida April 27, 1901 and will die in Comfort, Kendal County Texas June 14, 1976. He was divorced at that time. Southern Putman family out of Georgia.

 

JOHN D. (DEKALB) PUTMAN  Corpus Christi, Nueces County

He is 36 TX and his wife Nora Pullin is 33 TX. He works in an oil refinery and is a son of Simeon Mercer Putman and Adeline Victoria Stone. He was with his folks in Laredo, Webb County in 1930. Simeon was a son of Madison DeKalb Putman and Catherine Davidson. He was born in Llano County December 15, 1854. He married Adeline Victoria Stone on October 15, 1877. Simeon died in Laredo May 23, 1936. John was born May 21, 1903 and married Nora January 4, 1936. Nora was born February 10, 1907 and will die in San Patricio County Texas October 14, 2004. John will die in Corpus Christi, Texas April 28, 1993. Southern Putmans from Union County South Carolina.

 

E. (EULA) P. PUTNAM  Outside Corpus Christi, Nueces County

She is 60 GA and widowed, her son Aldine is 26 TX and works in an oil field. Eula Patricia Everett was married to Hiram Putnam in Montgomery County in 1930. He was a son of Francis Allen Putman and Henrietta Sanson of Spaulding County Georgia. He had been here since the early 1900s. The son Hiram Aldine was very briefly married to Arleene Mendel in 1937 and then divorced. Arlene and their 1 year old daughter Patricia are in Wharton County living with her folks. The son Hiram Aldine joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a pilot and died in Malta out in the Pacific April 21, 1942 and was buried in the Naval Cemetery there. Southern Putman family.

 

JAMES W. (WARREN) PUTMAN  Perryton, Ochiltree County

He is 39 TX, his wife Lela Zell Monroe is 30 TX. He operates an automobile repair shop. He is a son of Ernest Franklin Putman and Magnolia Carpenter from Indiana and then Texas. They were in the Chickasaw Nation Oklahoma in 1900, in Jackson County Oklahoma in 1910, and in Torrance County New Mexico in 1920. His grand parents John Warren Putnam and Mary Rogers were in Archer County Texas in 1880 and Wise County in 1900. John was from New York State. He was a son of Norman Putnam and his first wife Sally Shepard from Ontario County New York. They were in Marshall County Indiana 1870 and in Stark County Indiana in 1860 and Texas by 1880. Norman is still an Եncertaintyռ/span> as to his line. Pretty sure he is a son of David Putman from Seneca County New York on the New York Dutch line. The name was always spelled Putman.

 

LAURA PUTMAN  Weatherford, Parker County

She is 69 TX and widowed. Her also widowed daughter Mary Tucker 46 TX is with her. They were in the same house in 1935. She is Laura Caruthers now long divorced not widowed, and was married in Parker County to Charles Putman who moved to Oklahoma and got a new wife back in the early 1900s. Charles was from Green County Missouri and Georgia before that. Laura and Mary were here in 1910 and 1920 and in Fort Worth, Tarrant County in 1930. He is 31 OK and his wife Elizabeth is 26 OK. He is a son of Joseph Martin and Mary Frances Putnam from McAlester, Pittsburg County Oklahoma where he has been up through 1935. His dad is a son of Jeremiah Martin Putman from Guilford County Tennessee and then Callaway County Missouri.

 

CHARLES A. (ARTHUR) PUTNAM  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 46 IA IA IA and his wife Zelda DeGrange is 36 KS. They now have Charles D. 7 TX, Richard 4 TX, Charlene 3 TX and Jerry 1 TX. He is a stenographer/secretary in an oil refinery. I donմ find him anywhere in 1920, but think in the service. He is the son of Frank Southwick Putnam and Prudence Morrison from Winneshiek County Iowa. He was born there January 23, 1894 and was with the family there in 1900 and 1910. He married Zelda December 19, 1928. They were here in 1930. She was born August 25, 1903 in Kansas and will die here in Amarillo August 16, 1968. Charles will die in Woodward, Oklahoma February 9, 1973. They are both buried here in Amarillo. New England family, New Hampshire to New York to Iowa.

 

CHARLES B. (BYRON) PUTMAN  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 25 as is his wife Lillian L. He is a potter in a pottery firm or shop or someplace they play with clay. He is a son of a son of Elias B. Putman and Lena Gertrude Smith from Floyd County Georgia and then Cooke County here in Texas. He was home with his widowed mother Lena here in 1930. Family goes back to Ezekiel Putman who came from South Carolina to Georgia.

 

E. MAUDINE PUTMAN  Amarillo, Potter County

She is 27 TX and divorced. She is a housekeeper lodging with a Boylston family. She is Maudine Williamson and had married Haskell B. Putman here in the early 1930s and I guess got divorced around 1932 or 1933. She was living and working here in 1935. Haskell is here in town married to Ethel and they have a son born in 1933 or 1934. Haskell is a son of Elias B. Putman and Arletha Faith Libby from Floyd County Georgia and then Cooke County here in Texas. Family goes back to Ezekiel Putman who came from South Carolina to Georgia.

 

EDGAR F. (FRANKLIN) PUTMAN  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 33 OK IN TX and his wife Elsie Mae Luttrell is 26 TX and they have Mary Ann 7 TX and Evelyn 6 TX. He is a son of Ernest Franklin Putman from Indiana. His grand parents John Warren Putnam and Mary Rogers were in Archer County Texas in 1880 and Wise County in 1900. John was from New York State. He was a son of Norman Putnam and his first wife Sally Shepard from Ontario County New York. They were in Marshall County Indiana 1870 and in Stark County Indiana in 1860 and Texas by 1880. He married Elsie Mae Luttrell in 1931. According to his tombstone here in Amarillo, he was born in El Dorado, Oklahoma June 12, 1906 and died in Amarillo Friday March 10, 2000. Elsie was born October 9, 1912 and died June 6, 1965. They are both buried in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo as is his dad Ernest Franklin who died January 10, 1927. Goes way back to the Dutch Poutman family out of New York State.

 

EDGAR T. (THOMAS) PUTNAM  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 47 KY and a cable man for the phone company. His wife Rena is 40 TX. He is a son of Ezekiel Rice Putman and Sarah Shelton from Muhlenberg County Kentucky. Ezekiel was a son of Jesse Miles Putman. Edgar was born September 17, 1891. He was single here in 1920. He married Rena here in 1923. Rena was born March 23, 1899 and will die here in January 1974. Edgar will die here on his birthday September 17, 1979. Southern Putman Line.

 

HASKELL B. PUTMAN  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 31 TX, his wife Ethel C. is 18 TX and they have Haskell B. Jr. 6 TX. He is a cab driver and Ethel is a saleslady in a hat shop. He was very briefly married to Maud Williamson in the 1931-1932 time period, and then they got divorced. She is here in town and listed earlier. He is a son of Elias B. Putman and Lena Gertrude Smith. They have been in Cooke County up till 1930. His dad was a son of Elias and Faith Putman from Floyd County Georgia. JAMES B. (BAILEY) PUTMAN  Amarillo, Potter County

He is 34 TX TX MO. His wife Lucille Liedtke is 31 TX and they have Willa Jean 5 TX. His widowed mother Lena 60 AL is with him as she was in 1930. He is a store man for the railroad. Maybe he sells model train sets or work clothes. They were just married here in 1930. He is a son of Elias B. Putman and Lena Gertrude Smith. They have been in Cooke County up till 1930. NOLIA PUTMAN  Amarillo, Potter County

She is 69 TX and lives with her married daughter Viola Richards 43 OK and her husband Jack E. Richards 64 OH. Magnolia Carpenter has been married to Ernest Franklin Putman. They were in the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory of Oklahoma in 1900 and Jackson County Oklahoma in 1910 and then Torrance County Oklahoma in 1920. Nolia was here in Amarillo in 1930 with her son Edgar. Viola was with the family in 1920 then off and married in New Mexico by 1930. He is a farm laborer 24 TX and his wife Eva Lucille Gist is 21 TX. He is Joseph Caton Putman a son of Fred Bishop Putman and Mary Lena Corbell and was born here in Clarksville Christmas Day 1915 and will die in Katy, Fort Bend County Texas January 5 1997. Eva was born here January 28, 1918 and will die March 17, 1995 in Katy, Texas. His dad was a son of Josiah Putman from Howard County Arkansas. Southern Putmans from Tennessee to Alabama to Arkansas and then over here.

 

J. W. (JOSEPH WIGGINS) PUTMAN  Precinct 7, Red River County

He is a farmer 44 AR and his wife Mary Elizabeth Medley is 41 TX. He is a son of Joseph Covington Putman and Mollie Wiggins Sandel and was born in Mineral Springs, Arkansas July 5, 1895 and will die in Avery, Texas in August 1871. Mary was born in Texas in 1899 and will die here in Red River County May 1, 1968.

 

FRED PUTMAN  Outside Clarksville, Red River County

He is 26 AR and his wife Clemmie is 25 AR. He is working on a farm. He and Clemmie were in Arkansas in 1935 so he had gone back there to get married. He was here in Red River County in 1920 and 1930. He is Fred Bishop Putman Jr. a son of Fred Bishop Putman and Mary Lena Corbell and was born in Sevier County Arkansas in 1914. His dad was a son of Josiah Putman from Howard County Arkansas. He will die in Houston May 29, 1988. Southern Putmans from Tennessee to Alabama to Arkansas and then over here.

 

TILLIE T. & MARY E. PUTNAM  Precinct 4, Refugio County

He is 15 TX and she 7 TX. They a nephew and a niece of Fred Fagan. They are kids of Tillie Thomas Putnam and Julia Victoria Bailik from Edna, Jackson County. Tillie their dad died here May 26, 1938. Their mom Julie is somewhere I guess. Tillie Senior is a son of of Perley Porter Putnam and Martha Ellen Marvin and was born here. His dad was a son of Thomas Putnam and Zilpha Miller Porter from Covington, Tioga County Pennsylvania. New England Family.

 

J. C. (JOSEPH CLYDE) PUTMAN  Miles, Runnels County

He operates a Phillips 66 gasoline station. He is 30 TX, his wife Lou Ella Eckert is 28 TX and they have James Clyde 3 TX. ‘Dick’ is a son of Willie Edwin Putman and Eva Elizabeth Munden and was born in Ovilla, Ellis County March 14, 1910. Lou is a daughter of Dan Henry Eckert and Effie Lou Rampy and was born December 2, 1911 in Concho County. Dick and Lou kinda eloped over to Frederick, Oklahoma and were married there December 16, 1933.  Dick died in Ballinger, Runnels County February 11, 1971. Lou died in Dallas April 2, 2010. Southern Putmans out of Virginia to Kentucky to Illinois to Texas.

 

W. E. (WILLIE EDWIN) PUTMAN  Miles, Runnels County

He is 55 TX IL TX and works on a farm. His wife Iva Elizabeth Munden is 52 TX and they have Munden (William Munden) 15 TX still at home. He is a son of Charles Waufine Putman and Tommie Cornelia Keesee. He was born in Ovilla, Ellis County October 28, 1885 and will die in San Angelo, Tom Green County October 4, 1968. In fact they were there in 1935. He married Iva January 27, 1907. She is a daughter of Seaborn Richard Munden and Mary ‘Mollie’ Pope and was born February 13, 1888 and will die August 5, 1971. His son William Munden Putman will become a Reverend in Houston and a great researcher on our family. They were in Ellis County up till 1930. OSBORNE W. (WOOD) PUTMAN  Henderson, Rusk County

He is 61 TX GA GA. His wife Sarah Caigle is 48 TX and they have a daughter Mary Elizabeth 11 TX. Sarah was married before and they have another daughter  Doris (Burns) Putman 17 TX. He is a son of John Osborne Putman and Mary Pitner from here and from Murray County Georgia before that. He was born here March 2, 1879 and will die in Laneville, Rusk County February 10, 1961. Sarah or Sallie was born May 10, 1888 and will die here October 12, 1961. Southern family descended from Elias Putman of North Carolina.

 

ANDERSON H. (HARVE) PUTMAN  Pirtle, Rusk County

John Osborne Putman’s son is still around. He is 65 TX GA TX and his wife Jessie May is 58 TX. They have been married 36 years now and have Anderson Harve 22 TX and William Ralph 20 TX. He was born February 12, 1875 and will die March 9, 1956. Jessie was born November 6, 1881 and will die here February 11, 1956. They were married in 1903. The son Anderson Harve was born in 1917 and will die here in 1970. He will marry an Ina here November 16, 1941. The son William Ralph was born here September 9, 1919 and will die in Kilgore, Gregg County Texas July 15, 1975.

 

V. D. PUTMAN  Shepherd/Urbana, San Jacinto County

He is 30 TX single and lodging on a farm. Says he was here in 1935. No ideas here.

 

EDWARD H. (HAROLD) PUTNAM  Precinct 2, San Saba County

He is 27 TX, his wife Jewell Rogers Lucas is 23 TX and they have John W. 2 TX. He is a son of Walter Harold Putnam and Beatrice Turner and was born in Hamilton County July 2, 1913. Walter is a son of Owen Heath Putnam and Mary Emily Eddy from Indiana and then Illinois. His dad, Stephen Carlos Putnam was from Bow, New Hampshire and came here to Texas in the 1970s. Something will happen and they will get divorced and Edward will marry Bernice Nevelee Stewart March 30, 1947 in Brown County Texas and will die in LaGrange County Texas October 26, 2009. Bernice will die in 2006 in Lee County Texas and both are buried there.

 

MRS. R. H. PUTMAN  Eldorado, Schleicher County

She is 69 TX and still a widow. She has Clarence 44 TX still at home. Cora Ann Johnson was married to Rufus Harvey Putman here in 1910 and was widowed in Bexar County in 1920 and back here by 1930. Rufus was a son of William Putman and Adeline Gipson from Gonzales County. He was born there March 16, 1867 and died here August 30, 1916. He married Cora July 18, 1894. She was born September 9, 1870 and will die here in Eldorado March 24, 1949. Clarence was born August 24, 1896 and will die in San Angelo, Tom Green County in July 1972. N. K. (NEWTON KIRKSEY) PUTMAN  Tyler, Smith County

He is 49 TX OK TN (TX AL TN is right) and works in a railroad yard. His wife Myrtle ‘Mertie’ Cofer is 44 MO. He is a son of Wesley B. Putman and Sarah Ann Chatman from Navarro County. He was born April 20, 1890 and was there in 1910 and married here in 1920 and 1930. Mertie is a daughter of William H. Cofer and Nancy L. Babb and was born August 21, 1895 and will die in Fairview, Oklahoma February 4, 1973. Newton will die here in Tyler May 4, 1972. Southern Putmans from North Carolina then Alabama.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Glen Rose City, Somervell County

He is 55 TX and his new wife Callie is 54 TX. He rents a farm. In 1935 he was in Cleburne, Johnson County and she was here. I can’t find him earlier though. Probably not a Putnam or Putman.

 

W. B. (WILLIAM BOYD) PUTNAM  Breckenridge, Stephens County

He is 28 TX, his wife Martha Anne Larue is 26 TX, and they have a daughter Boyd Edrine 7 TX and son Travis Wilbur 5 TX. His dad Ira Andrew Putman 63 TX and his mom Sarah Elizabeth Bridges is 52 TX. He was born in Young County June 8, 1911 and then the family has been here since then. William or ‘Putt’ will die in Spicewood, Travis County January 28, 1994. Anne is a daughter of John and Tressie Larue and was born in Upshur County Texas September 2, 1913 and will die in Spicewood August 27, 2000. Ira is a son of William Howard Putnam and Lucy Caroline McKnight from Cherokee County Georgia. Ira was born May 18, 1876 in Texas. He will die in June 1964 in Austin, Travis County Texas. He married Bessie November 27, 1907. Bessie was born in Bell County Texas March 28, 1888 and will die January 13, 1972.  The line goes back to Ezekiel Putman from South Carolina.

 

BETTY PUTMAN  Sterling City, Sterling County

She is 14 TX And living in what looks like an orphanage. She was with her mother Bertha White who was married to Wilbur Ray and was in Stanford, Jones County in 1930. Bertha had previously been married to Mark Lee Putman who was a son of James Martin Putman and Eliza Ann Farris in Anson, Jones County.

 

RICHARD P. (POSEY) PUTMAN  Arlington, Tarrant County

He is 67 AL AL AL. His wife Mabel O. Duckett is 63 AL. Her mother Jessie Duckett 84 MS is with them as she has been for years. He is a painter and a wallpaper hanger. He is a son of Morris Putman and Elizabeth Williamson from Jackson County Alabama. The family came out here to Arlington in the 1870s and his mom was widowed by 1900. He married Myrtle about 1912 and they were in Colorado Springs Colorado in 1920.  He was born in 1871 and will die here in 1946. Mabel was born in 1876 and will die here in 1965. JOHN PUTMAN  Outside Arlington, Tarrant County

He is 51 AL AL AL. His wife Eula Mae Calhoun is 47 TX, and they have Bonnie Maggie 27 TX, Nancy Fern 21 TX, John Bruce 19 TX and Lloyd Earl 10 TX. He is presently out of work and has been for years. He now states he is a War Veteran. They were in Fisher County in 1935 and 1930, Van Zandt County in 1920 and he was with his folks John Forney Putman and Nancy Cox in Kaufman County in 1910, Wood County in 1900 and back in Marion County Alabama before that. John Forney Putman Jr. was born January 16, 1889 and will die August 10, 1958. Eula was born January 10, 1893 and will die April 2, 1978. Both are buried in the Tate Cemetery in Tarrant County Texas. MATTIE PUTMAN  Outside Arlington, Tarrant County

She is 59 TX and divorced. She lives with her widowed mother Linda Harrison 81 TX. She was at home here with her folks Pinkney and Linda Harrison in 1880. She was here in 1910 married (second marriage for both) to Rufus Estell Putman. In 1920 they are both in San Diego, California but divorced and living apart. He is still out there in 1930 and 1940 and will be till he dies in 1956. I donմ find Mattie though in 1930, but probably back here. Southern Putmans from Tennessee.

 

ROBERT E. (EVANS) PUTMAN  Outside Arlington, Tarrant County

He is 35 TX, his wife Vera Mae Carrell is 37 TX and they have Cornelia Louise 12 TX, Mildred Virginia 10 TX, Peggy Lois 7 TX and Robert Wayne 3 TX. They were here in 1935 and in Taylor County with his folks in 1930. He is a son of Thomas Columbus Putman and Carrie Johnson Bartlett and was born in Taylor County August 18, 1904. Vera is a daughter of Alson Andrew Carrell and Margaret Catherine Willis and was born April 2, 1903 and will die in Tarrant County October 5, 1987. Robert will die here January 11, 1960. His dad Thomas died in 1934 and was a son of Abraham Pinkney and Mary Ann Putman from Georgia. They have been here since the early 1900s. Southern Putman family.

 

CLINIE PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 65 MS and widowed. Her daughter Eva 35 MS. They have a lodger Eula I. Gallaher 31 TX with them. Clinnie is a companion to another person, Eva runs a Beauty Parlor and Eula is a waitress. Carrie Clinie Crecelius is the widow of Albert Obedia Putman from Scott County Mississippi. He died in about 1907 and she brought the family over into Texas afterwards. They were in Johnson County in 1920 and she was here in 1930 with her son Earl who died here in 1932. Southern Putman family from South Carolina.

 

DELLA PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 69 MS widowed and living with her married daughter Bonnie 42 MS and her husband Dee Poteet 47 TX. Della Crecelius was married to Wesley Monroe Putman in Johnson County. He died here in Fort Worth January 3, 1934. EGBERT M. (MIRON) PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 68 MI and his 2nd or 3rd wife Lilly Mae is 51 TX. He was married to Eudora Long here in 1920 and may have married Fannie Whittaker and then was with Lillie here in 1930. She was married to a Mueller before Egbert. They are living with her married daughter Velma Nordin. He is a son of John Cornelius Putman and his second wife, Nancy Halstead, and was born March 23, 1871 in Brandon, Muskegon County Michigan. The family went to Oklahoma in the land rush. John died there in 1906, and Egbert headed down here. This is a Dutch family from Montgomery County New York originally.

 

GEORGE W. (WHARTON) PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 39 TX MO TX and is now a manager for a hotel. His wife Frances Lanier is 39 TX. They have been married 15 years and have Jean F. 14 TX and George Junior 9 TX born on September 12, 1930.  He is the son of Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Putman. They were in Red River County Texas in 1900 and then in Fulton County Arkansas. They were here in 1930 as well. He is 28 TX, his wife Iva L. Newby 26 OK and they have Harold Dean 8 TX and Jerry Lee 3/12 TX. He is an order filler in a creamery. He is a son of James B. Putman and Ollie Burns from here. The family came down from Michigan in the Oklahoma Land Rush and were in Jackson County there. The family came here to Fort Worth around 1903. His folks are still here in town. HARRY L. (LAWRENCE) PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 49 CA NH CA, Dorothy Elizabeth Runkle his wife 41 IN and they have Betty C. 21 KS, Richard 18 CA and Bruce 10 CA. He is the son of Frederick Watson Putnam and Rose Osborne. He was born in Los Angeles July 26, 1890. Frederick is a son of Edwin Lombard Putnam and Emeline A. Wright. Frederick was born in Hinsdale, Sullivan County New Hampshire. He was with his folks in Brattleboro, Vermont in 1900, and single in San Bernardino County California in 1910. He was a Captain in the U. S. Army and stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas in 1920. They were in Los Angeles in 1930 and he is an engineer for an oil company then. In 1935 they were in Redlands, San Bernardino County California. He will eventually die in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands July 10, 1970.

 

JAMES J. (JOSEPH) PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 39 TX. His wife Edna 27 TX and they have Manuel 10 LA and Barbara 2 TX. He is a son of Ansel S. Putnam and Rose Ellen Bishop and was born in Angelina County March 26, 1900. He was there in 1920 and then in Atascosa County in 1930. He is an auto mechanic.

 

JIMMIE B. PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 46 OK IL KY and his wife Ollie Martin Burns is 47 TX. They have Bobby J. 15 TX and Eugene Marshall 12 TX. He is a son of Egbert Miron Putman and Eudora Long from here in Fort Worth. The family came down from Michigan in the Oklahoma Land Rush and he was born in Jackson County there July 4, 1893. The family came here to Fort Worth around 1903. He married Ollie January 20, 1910. He will die in Fort Worfield, Texas February 26, 1967. Dutch family originally from New York State.

 

LILLIE PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

She is 55 TN and widowed now. She is listed as a stepdaughter of Steven Harris 84 OH. She is Lillian Catherine Reid who has been married to John Jacob Putman here for a long time. He died May 7, 1931. He was a son of John Jacob Putman Jr. from Wisconsin. The family came here to Tarrant County in the 1870s. German family from Hampshire County Virginia.

 

LUTHER PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 59 AL divorced and lodging. He is a building carpenter. Luther Allen Putman is a son of Joel Allen Putman and Melinda Ann Sansom and was born in St. Clair County Alabama October 14, 1880. He married Maude Florence Brewster there September 21, 1902. They were in Palo Pinto County Texas in 1910 and here in Arlington Heights, Tarrant County in 1920. The got divorced and he is moving back and forth from here to Oklahoma. He will die in Oklahoma City April 4, 1949. Southern Putmans.

 

ROBERT D. (DONALD) PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 65 AL AL AL and manages a meat market. His wife Katie Ramsey is 56 TX and they have John C. 36 TX (married and divorced since 1920), and Elizabeth Ann 33 TX. His brothers William M. 75 AL and Frederick A. 68 AL are living here as they have for years.  John works in the butcher shop as well. They are all sons of John and Frances Putman from Jackson County Alabama. The family has been here in Fort Worth since the late 1800s. Robert was born April 15, 1874 in Princeton, Alabama and will die here August 1, 1956. Kate was born here in Texas April 21, 1883 and will die here in Fort Worth June 30, 1965.

 

ROY B. PUTMAN  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 36 OK TX TX and his wife Velma Ray is 37 TX. They have been married 13 years and have Patricia 12 TX. He is a son of George Washington and Maggie Putman. He was born in Oklahoma July 20, 1903 and will die in Fort Worth in August 1978. They were in Bosque County in 1910 and Johnson County in 1920. Roy is a car painter in an auto body shop. Southern Putmans out of Blount County Alabama and Laurens County South Carolina before that.

 

WILLIAM N. (NELSON) PUTNAM  Fort Worth, Tarrant County

He is 60 IA US US and runs a grocery store. His wife Rose May Groves is 55 AR and they have Margaret 24 MO. He is the son of Charles Putnam and Julia Gordon as shown in Cass County Michigan in 1880 and 1900 in Harrison County Iowa. They were here in 1920. He was born December 25, 1879 in Cass County and will die here in Fort Worth December 30, 1968. Rose was born December 23, 1884 and will die here April 15, 1970. New England family, Salem, Massachusetts to Jefferson County New York and Cass County Michigan.

 

WILL C. (WILLIAM CLAY) PUTMAN  Saginaw (outside Fort Worth), Tarrant County

He is 63 TX single and finally admits he is divorced. He is a son of John Jacob Putman Jr. and Julia Dole Moore. His dad died here February 3, 1896 and he was single here with him mom from 1900 till she died here August 15, 1938. He now owns and operates the farm. He was born in Tarrant County August 3, 1876. He was at home in 1900 single, and still at home in 1910, 1920 and 1930 and said single. Now admits he is divorced in 1940. Seems he married in 1893, but that’s all I have except he was single with the family from 1900 on. He will die in Fort Worth August 12, 1956. German Buttman family Maryland to Virginia to Wisconsin to here.

 

MAHLON H. (HAMPTON) PUTMAN  Precinct 1 outside Abilene, Taylor County

He is 46 TX GA TN and a farmer. His wife Ruby L. Riddle is 43 TX and they now have Bryce 20 TX and Mahlon Homer 13 TX. His widowed mother Carrie J. 71 TN is with them now. He is a son of Thomas Columbus Putman and Carrie Johnson Bartlett from Taylor County. He was there up until 1930 when he was in Dawson County and then was back here. He was born November 30, 1893 and will die here in Texas in January 1965. The son Bryce was born March 16, 1920 and will die in Skelly town, Texas in September 1986. His dad was a son of Abraham Pinkney Putman from Cherokee County Georgia and he died here December 22, 1934. Carrie was born February 12, 1869 in Sparta, White County Tennessee and will die in Potosi, Taylor County July 14, 1952. Southern family from Georgia and South Carolina before that.

He is 29 TX, his wife Mildred Cleo Hobbs is 25 TX and they have Jerry Max 6 TX (born August 20, 1933), Shara Dee 5 TX (born March 13, 1935) and Donald Weldon 2 TX (born July 10, 1937). He is a son of Thomas Columbus Putman and Carrie Johnson Bartlett from here in Taylor County. He is an automobile or maybe bus mechanic. He was born December 29, 1909. He will die in Taylor County Texas August 25, 1982. Cleo was born August 7, 1914 and will die March 17. 2008. Southern family from Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

JAMES P. (PLEDGER) PUTNAM  Throckmorton, Throckmorton County

He is 42 TX US US and now a stock farmer. His wife Lura Frances Wilkerson is a music teacher and is 43 TX and they have James P. Junior 12 TX, Joanne 11 TX and Joe Ben 9 TX. He is a son of Joseph Barnet Putman and his first wife Julia McGinnis from Caldwell and then Throckmorton County Texas. He was born September 18, 1897 and married Lura April 23, 1926. They were in Wilbarger County in 1930 and here in 1935. He will be a rancher here until he dies June 15, 1966. Lura is a daughter of Benjamin Oscar Wilkerson and Anna Ophelia Theodosia Petty and was born March 7, 1896 and will die here November 13, 1977.. The son James Pledger was born November 29, 1927 in Girard, Texas and will die in Kerrville, Texas October 30, 2011. He married Joy Hickman (his second wife) and managed the Dairy Queen there from the 1970s till he retired. The son Joseph Benjamin was born in Wilbarger County September 9, 1930 and will die here in Throckmorton November 25, 1982. JOSEPH C. (CARROLL) PUTNAM  Outside Throckmorton, Throckmorton County

He is 52 TX TX TX single and a rancher. He is a son of Joseph Barnet Putman and Julia McGinnis from Caldwell County. He has been there up till now and never married. His folks had moved here to Throckmorton in 1907 though. Southern Putman family out of Georgia and South Carolina before that.

 

ARTHUR PUTNAM  San Angelo, Tom Green County

He is 30 TX, his wife Ivy is 26 LA and they have Patricia Ann 6 MS and Michael 1 TX. He is a son of Frank L and Marie Putnam from New York. He was born in Houston and there in 1910 at age 6 months. He was there in 1920 and with his widowed mother in 1930. He was in Galveston in 1935 with Ivy. His dad was the son of Richard Putnam and Maria Philips from Rome, Oneida County New York. He was born there September 5, 1865 and died in Houston December 19, 1925. They were a Dutch Putman family, but used the Putnam spelling. Frank owned Putnam Water Heater Company in Houston.

 

WILLIAM E. PUTNAM  San Angelo, Tom Green County

He is 66 MI and now widowed living in a hotel as he was in 1935. His wife Emie has died in the early 1930s and he will die here September 14, 1943. He is a son of Charles Putnam and Sarah Lancaster from Clay County Kansas. Charles was a son of Newton Putnam from Vermont, and was in Wells County Indiana in 1850, where he was born. The family was in Richardson County Nebraska in 1870, and Clay County in 1880. He and Emma had been in Topeka Kansas in 1885 through 1910. They were here in 1920 and 1930.

 

ADA PUTNAM  Austin, Travis County

She is 43 TX and widowed. Her divorced sister Hazel Chalberg is 33 TX. Ada is a bookkeeper and Hazel a saleswoman at a department store.  Ada was married to Carl Putnam here in 1930 and probably in 1920 but they werenմ indexed. Carl first pops up in 1900 here in Austin with his brother Roger. They were sons of Thomas Putman and Jeanette Rosenthaler from here. Tom was widowed in 1900 and the two kids were living with a Singleton family and by 1910 had been adopted by a Hissner family. Thomas was a son (I am pretty sure) of Isiah and Eliza Putnam from England. They were in Richland County Ohio in 1860 just before Tom was born and I donմ find them again. Tom then just popped up here in the 1900 census. He was alone here through the 1920 till he died July 24, 1922. Carl accidently shot himself at home and died on June 19, 1932

 

MIRON PUTNAM  Austin, Travis County

He is 24 TX, his wife Lola Mae Parnell 20 TX and they have Edna F. 2 TX. He is a son of Edward M. Putnam and Frances Mae Pribble and was born in Fort Worth, Tarrant County September 30, 1915 and will die in North Richmond Hills, Tarrant County January 5, 1999. He married Lola August 29, 1930. She is a daughter of Oscar Fuller Parnell and Edna Waldrop and was born in Fort Worth August 29, 1919 and will die in Euless, Tarrant County May 15, 1985. Hid dad is a clergyman for the Assembly of God. He is a son of Egbert Putman and Eudora Long from Michigan then Greer County Oklahoma and then here in Texas. His grandfather was Cornelius Janse Putman from Amsterdam, Montgomery County New York the Shiawassee County Michigan. Dutch Poutman family from New York State.

 

ROSA PUTMAN  Austin, Travis County

She is 55 TX and widowed. She is a patient in the Austin State Hospital. Rosetta Spears is the widow of Thomas Hurt Putman from Cooke County. They were there though 1910 and he died there April 15, 1918. She was widowed there in 1920. She was a patient here in 1930. Southern Putman family from Georgia.

 

A. C. (ANDY COLUMBUS) PUTMAN  McCamey, Upton County

He is 24 TX and his wife Ruby Self is 18 TX. He is a son of William Henry Putman and Florence Buckner and was born in Scurry County May 1, 1915 and with the family there in 1920 and in Mitchell County in 1930 and 1935. He is a roustabout with an oil company on a drilling rig. He will die back in Colorado City, Mitchell County February 18, 1969. His dad William Henry Putman was a son of Andrew Putman and Rachel Pierce from Blount County Alabama. He was home there in 1900 in Alabama and in Ellis County Texas in 1910 and in Scurry County in 1920 and Mitchell County in 1930 and now in 1940.

 

WALTER PUTNAM  McCamey, Upton County

He is 33 MA and his wife Arva Dura Kaelin is 32 TX and they have Patricia 8 TX and Thad 7 TX. They were here in 1930. He is a telephone and telegraph operator for an oil company distillery. He is a son of Frank Arthur Putnam and Mary Agatha Thrower from Ohio and then Iowa. Frank was a son of Oscar Allen Putnam and Cassandra McElory. Cassie was married to a Cushman in Black Hawk County Iowa and Frank was only a year old. Walter was born November 29, 1905 in Milton, Massachusetts and will die in Midland, Texas June 15, 1987. Arva is a daughter of Albert Jackson Kaelin and Julia Mary Fritsche and was born in Houston November 3, 1906 and will die in Midland October 4, 1899. Still trying to find out who Oscar was and who his folks were.

 

EARL H. PUTNAM  Uvalde, Uvalde County

He is 36 MO, his wife Lucille Clubb 35 TX and they have Elizabeth 5 TX and Carol Ann 3 TX. He is a mechanic in an auto repair shop. Says he was here in 1935. He is a son of the following George Putnam and was born in Missouri September 19, 1904 and will die in Austin Texas November 23, 1961. He married Lucille April 20, 1925.

 

GEORGE PUTNAM  Outside Uvalde, Uvalde County

He is 65 MO widowed and lodging and was here in 1935. He is George Monroe Putnam a son of Jeremiah Martin Putnam and Melissa Straw. He was born in Hurricane, Carroll County Missouri December 12 1873 and will die in San Antonio, Bexar County Texas January 13, 1963. He married Ida Lisette Saak January 19, 1899. He says he is widowed but she doesnմ die till November 16, 1967 in Wilburton, Oklahoma. His son Earl is listed just above.

 

JAMES I. (IRA) PUTMAN  Outside Del Rio, Val Verde County

He is 27 TX, his wife Ruby A. is 26 TX and they have James L. 3 TX and Edwin E. 1 TX. He is a son of Leander A. and Ethel Putman and was born in Pittsburgh, Camp County and was there in 1920. Then the folks got divorced and his mother Ethel married Adolphus Meadows in 1925 and she and Ira and the kids are in Baird, Callahan County by 1930. His dad was a son of John and Sarah Putman from Franklin County Texas in 1900. His folks were from Tennessee and then in Mississippi. Southern Putmans.

 

AUSTIN M. (MATHEW) PUTMAN  Monahans, Ward County

He is 34 OK, his wife Alta is 31 LA and they have Lloyd Bruce 14 AR, Billy Ray 12 AR and a daughter Melva J. 4 TX. He is a tool pusher on an oil drilling rig. He was in Rusk County Texas in 1935. He was born in Ada, Oklahoma February 28, 1905. Got that off his draft registration. His mom is listed next.

 

MATTIE (MARGARET) PUTMAN  Monahans, Ward County

She is 61 OK (actually AR) widowed and living with her married daughter Bessie Mae Harvey 36 or 33 AR. Maggie Ellis was married to Austin Hawkins Putman in Ada, Oklahoma and was widowed there in Okmulgee, Oklahoma in 1930. Hawkins was a son of Howard and Sally Putman from Cleburne County Alabama. Hawk died in Ada, Oklahoma February 27, 1913.

 

A. D. PUTMAN  Laredo, Webb County

Bad listing. She is really Mrs. Amzy Darius Putman and is 44 TX and widowed. She is Rebecca Dozal Trujillo who married Amzy. She has Ruby Bee 19 TX and Arthur 17 TX still at home. Amzy was a son of Simeon Mercer Putman and Adeline Victoria Stone. He was born in Mason County September 19, 1896 and the family was here in Webb County in 1910. He married Rebecca Dozal Trujillo in Juarez Mexico March 31 1918. They were here in 1930. He was a Texas Border Ranger and died in Laredo on April 8, 1931. Rebecca is an office worker for the W.P.A. here in town. His mom Adeline lives next door or maybe in the same house. Southern Putmans.

 

ADELINE PUTMAN  Laredo, Webb County

She is 79 TX and widowed. She still has her daughter Ethel Merle 33 TX at home. Adeline Victoria Stone has been married to Simeon Mercer Putman since they were married in Mason County Texas October 15, 1877. He was a son of Madison DeKalb Putman and Catherine Olivia Davidson and was born here in Texas December 15, 1854 and died here in Laredo May 23, 1936. He was hit by an auto and his chest was caved in. He was 81 years old. Adeline is a daughter of Reuben Gilmore Stone and Celia Scott. She was born in Llano County on April 13, 1861 and will die here in Laredo December 26, 1952 at age 91. Family was from Union County South Carolina to Monroe County Kentucky to Tennessee to Alabama then to Llano County Texas.

 

JEAN & SHIRLEY PUTTMAN  Laredo, Webb County

Jean is 8 TX and Shirley 4 TX. They are in the Catholic Orphans Home here. These gals should be daughters of John DeKalb Putman who is a son of Simeon Mercer Putman and was here with his folks in 1930. Simeon died here May 23, 1936.

 

ARLEENE PUTNAM  El Campo, Wharton County

She is 22 TX and divorced. She has a daughter Patricia Ann 1 TX and they live with her folks A.J. and Viola Mendel. Arleene Ann Mendel was briefly married to Hiram Aldine Putnam a son of Lee Hiram Putman who was at home in Montgomery County in 1920 and 1930. Arlene and Hiram Aldine were married in Wharton Texas May 15, 1937 and divorced probably right after Patty was born. Hiram Aldine is currently living with his widowed mother Eula in Corpus Christi, Nueces County Texas. Also found a marriage record for Patricia Ann marrying Thomas Glenn Harris in Jim Wells, Texas September 4, 1954. Hiram Aldine joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a pilot and died in Malta out in the Pacific April 21, 1942 and was buried in the Naval Cemetery there.

 

CHARLES D. (DEWITT) PUTNAM  Precinct 7 near West Mustang Creek, Wharton County

He is 59 MO IL MS and a rice farmer. His wife Linney Cochran is 57 MO and they have a stepson Frank Goodson 6 TX. Linney’s sister Opal Cochran 40 MO is here too. He is a son of DeWitt Clinton Putman from New York. The family was in the Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma in 1900 and in Vernon County Missouri in 1880. They were all here in Wharton County in 1910 and overlooked but probably here in 1920. DeWitt is a son of Levi and Charlotte Putman, and was born in Grundy County Illinois. His grandparents are Philip Putman and Lucretia Noble from Jefferson County New York. His brother James lives a couple of farms away. Dutch family out of New York.

 

J. B. (JAMES BOYD) PUTMAN  Precinct 7 near West Mustang Creek, Wharton County

He is 57 AR NY KY and owns a rice farm. His wife Grace is 53 TX and they have their married daughter Katherine Kent 18 TX and her daughter Lorie Kent 1 TX. He is a son of DeWitt and Maggie Putman. He was born in Arkansas in 1883 and was with the family in the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma in 1900 and then here in Wharton County in 1910 and on. Grace was born March 17, 1887 and will die in El Campo in December of 1978. DeWitt died here December 30, 1932. DeWitt was a son of Levi and Charlotte Putman, and was born in Grundy County Illinois. His grandparents are Philip Putman and Lucretia Noble from Jefferson County New York. Dutch Poutman family out of Montgomery County New York State.

 

CHESTER P. PUTMAN  Shamrock, Wheeler County

He is 27 TX AL TX, his wife Ruby Opal Henderson is 25 TX and they have Mildred 5 TX and James 1 TX. He is a W.P.A. worker on bridge construction. He is a son of Howard McKinney Putman and Ola Belle Walker and they were in Kaufman County Texas in 1910. Howard died in Coleman County April 20, 1917.  Chester was born in Kaufman County in 1912, and then was with his widowed mother in Johnston County Oklahoma in 1920. She had married a Clark and then he died or they split and she and Chester, his brother and a couple of Clark kids were all here in 1930. Then Ola married Claude Lee Henderson in 1931 and they are off somewhere. His dad Howard Putman was a son of John Forney Putman and Nancy Maria Cox from Blount County Alabama. Chester was born in Kaufman County Texas February 12, 1912 and will be here in Shamrock till he dies September 2, 1991.

 

CHARLES PUTMAN  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 46 TX GA TX and widowed as he was here in 1930. He was in Jefferson County Oklahoma in 1920 and his wife was Thelma Echols. He is Charles Hubbard Putman a son of George Washington Putman and Mary Jane Cole from Jackson County Alabama and then Collin County Texas. Charlie was born in Denton County Texas December 13, 1894 and will die here in Wichita Falls December 14, 1972. His folks are still over in Jefferson County Oklahoma now and will be the rest of their lives. Southern Putmans.

 

HENRIETTA PUTNAM  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

She is 71 OH and widowed. Henrietta Cowden has been married to Henry R. Putnam here in 1920 and 1930 and he has died. Think he is the son of Harrison and Christine Putnam from Winnebago County Wisconsin. They were in Curry County New Mexico in 1910.

 

R. W. (ROBERT WAYNE) PUTMAN  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 36 TX single and lives with his married sister Etta Lambert 35 TX and her husband P. H. Lambert 38 TX. Says they were all here in 1935. He is a son of Joseph W. Putman and Betty Jane Redin and was here with them in 1920. He was born January 23, 1904 and will die in San Antonio November 28, 1962. He was a sergeant in the Army in WWII. Joseph Willis Putman is a son of Willis Putman and Susan E. Young. They were all in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1930 and here in Wichita Falls in 1920.

 

WILLIAM D. (DALTON) PUTMAN  Wichita Falls, Wichita County

He is 37 TX TX TX and just married to his wife Frances Rogene Law 28 TX. They were just married here in 1930 and now have Billy Jack 9 TX, Marsha Jane 4 TX, a son Jesse Dalton 3 TX and Alice Fay 1 TX. He is an electrician with the electric company. He is a son of Charles William Putman and Alice Emily Strickland from Coleman County in 1910 and 1920. He was born in Eastland County in 1902 and will die in Wichita November 22, 1975. Charles was a son of William Jacob Putman Jr. from DeKalb County Alabama and Georgia before that. Southern Putmans.

He is 32 TX and his wife Louise Pickens 27 TX. They live with her widowed mother Mary Pickens 32 TX. I am guessing this is Nuel Leonard Putnam son of Commodore Putnam and Martha Hampton and was born in Cooke County August 12, 1907, and has been with the family in Oklahoma.

 

LLOYD S. (SEDRICK) PUTMAN  Vernon, Wilbarger County

He is 35 TX, his wife Mary Katherine is 26 TX and they have James Lloyd 2 TX and Carolyn 1 TX. He is a truck driver for a motor freight company. He is a son of William Henry Putman and Doris Melvina Fox and was born in Lubbock, Texas January 6, 1905. They were in Presidio County in 1910. He was single in Monahans, Ward County in 1930. He will die here in Vernon November 12, 1985. Southern Putmans from Tennessee.

 

JONNIE PUTNAM  Round Rock, Williamson County

The listing is John R. Putman female. No. She is Jonnie Arabella Hudson the widow of John Owen Putnam who died here in 1918. She was widowed here in 1920 and in 1930. Ruby was widowed or divorced in Austin Texas in 1930. They were in Williamson County in 1900 and in Travis County in 1910. He was a son of William Jeremiah Putman from Scott County Mississippi. She is 72 MS, and her daughter Ruby A. 24 TX.

 

NELLIE E. PUTMAN  Alvord, Wise County

She is 57 AR and widowed. Nellie Esther Magers was married to John Thomas Putman who died here February 21, 1930. They were here in 1910 and 1920. She still has Henry Harmon 27 TX, Anita Jo 19 TX, and a daughter Tommie Lou 16 TX. She will be here till she dies in March of 1842. Her husband was a son of Thomas Putman from Bartow County Georgia. ORLIS PUTMAN  Graham, Young County

He is Reuben Orlis Putman 41 TX and now married 17 years to Martha Massey 41 TX. She has a son by an earlier marriage, John 21 TX who has adopted the Putman name. He is a wholesale produce buyer. He is a son of Elias Putman and Maud Kedney from here and Georgia before that. He was here in 1920 living with his grandmother Elizabeth Kedney, and married to Martha here in 1930. Reuben will die here March 25, 1945 and Martha in Fort Worth on March 30, 1963. Southern Putman line.
